Ain’t gonna happen. BHop already sent out a press release telling Murat and the IBF to GTFO.

what your saying is he has never been completely dominated, in which case I agree.

Junior — I too had Calzaghe winning the fight, but I didn’t see Hopkins getting beaten down/decisively beaten. Again, yes, B-Hop lost that fight and has lost other fights but no one has ever routed him. My main point was Hopkins fights often and has recently taken on fighters who were, pre-fight (by critics/pundits), going to send him into retirement. Yet post-fight, Hopkins is the one wearing the belt — pretty impressive, without mentioning the fact that many times B-Hop is as old as his opponents’ fathers (something younger folks won’t appreciate until they’re 45+ years old).

Even Hopkins biggest fan (sredmond) agrees that calzaghe won the fight. I have heard a couple guys say they thought an argument could b made for Hopkins winning, but I have never heard anyone say he clearly won. I personally gave it to calslappy by 5 rounds.

We must have watched 2 different fights then bud. the one I watched seen calzaghe out-hustle Hopkins and beat him at his own game, in his own back yard, at his own weight.

Junior…Have to disagree here. Although Calzaghe is one of my favs, he lost the fight against Hopkins. When scoring the fight back then, I always crossed my fingers for the Pride of Wales to not lose a round. Except from that incident where Hopkins turned around and faked low blow, he controlled the pace of the fight and wa the one scoring. Calzaghe may have had a high workrate, but he never really hit Hopkins with any menaingful punches. This fight clearly goes to the Philly fighter

Patrick……….. Heres a FACT, Calzaghe beat ”Nard” more clearly than that one bent judge scored. Waaaaaay more. So yes Nard has been beaten decisively! Actualy watch the fight rather than listening to what certain people have to say about it. Hopkins had to fake a foul/injury to stop Calzaghe from drilling him into a tko. And lets not forget Bambi legs Dawson beat the old man decisively too! What Pops has achieved is fantastic no matter what anyone sais. But dont make up crap to inflate a man who doesnt need it

Cheese cake in Montreal

Ahah…Article making it look like that fight will happen…So funny.

Hopkins isn’t going to care who his mandatory is. Murat is too little known and won’t make for a very good fight. I could see him pursuing a fight vs Froch or Cleverly as they have following. Bute in Montreal as Hopkins has already left an impression there. I would most like to see a fight with Kovalev. Time has come to get him in the mix.

Where does anybody mention Kovalev? The fighter this article is about has his name in the headline as well as several mentions in the article…oh, and there’s a big picture of him on the front as well. Have another read before you comment

Sergey Kovalev Who? Why would the legend and champion Bernard Hopkins waste time on this one? Kovalev will have to take a number and stand in line….for another fight becouse he haves nothing to bring worth facing Hopkins :-)

How did this guy get a number 1 ranking? He is good but he is 3-1-1 in his last 5 bouts.

Textbook Hayelord

Morat knows the Nard fight is a no-go.

1. Nard has no intention of fighting a mediocre contender who has acheived nothing at this stage of his career.
2. Morat knows he would be well beaten by a 48year old Nard.
3. Morat is only mentioning a Nard bout to force the IBF to strip Nard of the title so Morat can fight for the vacant belt.
4. This is a similar situation to Froch-Stevenson @168

i agree. this fight should not be happening with murat. murat doesnt seem to be anything special at this time and is an open target from what i have seen. the fight is with the real white guy kovalev. the powerhouse. theres a “whiteboy” you should face bernard. since you dont “loose to whiteboys” ooooooooops wait a second. joe cal wooped your A55. fight kovalev. and because cloud had a title what all the sudden he is some boxing master? gtfo.

Sergey Kovalev will knock Bernard Hopkins out if they ever fight.

Here’s a fact: Hopkins has never been decisively beaten, ever. You may not like his style, but you have to give it up for B-Hop. He has fought EVERYONE, and regularly wins. And even now in his 40’s has fought a number of young/er lions — Pavlik, Tarver, Pascal twice, Dawson twice, and now Cloud — all legit, world-class, belt-holding fighters. Hell, not many active fighters out there are taking on such a formidable group, and absolutely NO ONE ANYWHERE NEAR B-Hop’s age fights at this level. So cut the crap about Hopkins picking his opponents — the man has been fighting young, strong, aggressive fighters and taking them to school.

Sorry but Daswson did not have an easy time with Hopkins and with the way Dawson quit in his last fight, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dawson gets stopped in his next fight and if he where to fight Hopkins again, I think Hopkins could take it to him

Posted March 11, 2013 7:34 pm

Hopkins will pick another easy fighter for his “style ” to beat. He never wanted any part of Dawson and was basically finally forced into it. Then we saw why. He was utterly pathetic against a skilled fighter. I bet Dawson would easily beat him again but Hops wont do it. He doesn’t have what it takes to exploit any of his flaws. Ward would probably stop him so that is a no go. He will fight the no talent Pascal again. He knows who to avoid. In fact he didn’t even want Cloud until Campillo exposed him and layed the blueprint. Hopkins is a fraud. He is fooling a lot of fans. His biggest wins are against men naturally much smaller or a compromised fighter he sees ripe. RJJ beat him easily with one arm. Calzaghe had him faking injuries and looking cowardly. That is what the real “legend” of Hopkins is. Beating up welters, outpounting compromised or very limited fighters and being beaten by every man that was any good and not too small.

After years in the shadow of Roy Jones, Trinidad & DeLa Hoya, BHops, in the final stage of his great career, can finally pick & choose his opponents; he won’t choose Murat because such a fight would mean nothing…he’ll pick somebody who can bring some intrigue & money to the table.

If I was murat I wouldnt all my eggs in the Hopkins basket

Let’s see if Sauerland manages to pull a robbery in favor of his boxer this time.

Well I bet BHop is well excited about this match up! Murat was owned by Cleverly and will be made to look very foolish against BHop. Won’t matter as the fight won’t happen.
