bum fight

the granpa killer Price. I guess there’s a reason why they are protecting him, usually there is…

What’s the point of Thompson hanging around if he can’t beat Wladimar. Vitali is at the end of the road; and he’s came up short twice against Wladimar. It’s pointless to be in the top ten if you can’t beat either one. He got in both fights and he did not use his height or his jab in either fight. He allowed Wladimar to dictate the pace. When you get in fights like that you have to let it all hang out. If you happen to lose; at least you know you gave it your all and held NOTHING BACK!!!!!

thompsen is brave, a good quality that’s really needed in the hw div.

I honestly don`t know what Thompson has left. Around the time of the first Wlad fight, I might have said he was underrated and a lot better than US fans were giving him credit for – certainly wheen you look at how people gush over an Arreola or Mitchell – someone like Thompson would have been awkward and technical enough to throw a spanner in the works for those guys. Between the Wlad fights though he did nothing at all except get 5 years older and then last 5 rounds less. Wlad fought him aggressively the second time round – and I feel part of that was that in the first few rounds he felt Thompson had lost a step. I expect Price to crush Thompson, and how much it means will depend on how Thompson looks, I hope he sets his stall out well enough with his jab and movement that Price has to work for a few rounds.

Cluegiver at 22 years old Ali fought the VERY feared Sonny Liston for the TRUE HW Championship ie one division ONE Champ and he WON and then beat him in a rematch..You will NEVER be able to put Price on the same boxing planet as Ali fighting Harrison and Thompson… How old is Price and how long will we hear of his Olympic wins?? By the way Ali won a Gold in the Olympics as well… Price might prove to be a very good fighter but Thompson is not going to tell us much he is an OLD man who has been beating nothing but fodder for the past 5 years.

Bears, Stiverne, Mago, Wilder, and Jennings ARE NO NAME fighters they have not done a damn thing of note in professional boxing… Being touted does NOT make you a force or a name that has REAL cache… You have ALWAYS spouted off 25 names in the division that collectively have NOT made a real splash… When are you going to learn that being a HW boxer does not automatically confer status upon you?? The problem with the HW division is that no one knows or respects most of these guys accomplishements because they have NONE…Wilder is undefeated but WHO has he beat? AGAIN call us when these mopes do better than Audley Harrison and a 41 year old Tony Thompson… As for Wach he is a suspended PED user who was not beating ANYONE before he faced Wlad…. This is the REAL World, try living in it.

Bears, Tony Thompson is a WASHED up OLD fighter who has not been a decent competitor in YEARS and yes he sure has hell should NOT have been in the ring with Wlad again that fight was a JOKE… I could care less about Price beating a RELIC Thompson who is there to be had.. You can discuss how he woulda, coulda, fought or beat Chambers but he did NOT reality is that he was fighting guys with double digit losses shortly before Wlad knocked him out for the second time… I KNOW you wanna build him up so that you can announce Price as “Great” with the hopes that he will be dispatched by Wlad at some point and you can say hooray Kilts dispatched an ATG LMAO meanwhile Price has some OLD fighters on his docket until he gets involved with other contenders…

Kid Blast

TT needs to go away.

Also keep in mind that Thompson got his second shot at Wlad because Chambers refused to fight him in the IBF eliminator and chose to fight Adamek instead. Says something on how Chambers sees Thompson

Agree with Bears. Some people will say Thompson never should have gotten his second shot at Wlad and I agree with that, but even then between Wlad I and Wlad II Thompson has faced guys who were not worse, probably even better, then Price his opponents until now. And Thompson ko’d all of them within a few rounds, despite not having Price his power. This is a good fight. Props to team Price

Ted — Ya kind of like when Muhammed ali 15-0 fought Archie Moore – a guy who wasn’t even a heavyweight but a light heavyweight and was almost 50 years old. Showed the state of the division when it took ali a few rounds to beat him in his prime.

Posted January 25, 2013 10:11 am

the division is more than fine. its teeming with contests we want to see. we can list 20 plus fighters we want to see fight and next tier of guys who make good gate keeper fights and some of them, if they got serious could maybe make another run. the matches are being made and have been since last year. if that trend continues the heavyweight division is lighting up. of course thompsons relevant (to this last poster) look at who price has fought thus far. its relevant when you look at that. big time relevant this is prices BEST opponent and a very seasoned southpaw. thompsons no joke. if price can lay waste to him it speaks volumes for price as far as im concerned propels him beyond fury. thompsons a good south paw boxer. this is a great matchup by the price team and i think its risk too. this is price getting on the GLOBAL stage now. something fury has FAILED to do. i really really like this match up

Price vs Fury needs to be made, Fury is running scared big time, just another gobby Gypo.

Posted January 25, 2013 7:29 am

it’s a shame when someone like Thompson is even somewhat relevant.Shows what a sad state the heavyweight that division is in.

MR Price

come on pricey knock F££K out of him son!

Posted January 25, 2013 6:25 am

Price is doing the right thing = fighting regularly and against better opposition then his last fight(s). Tony might be past it and he did not deserve his second shot against Wlad but he is better then 40+skelton and better then Harrisson ever has been

Posted January 25, 2013 6:25 am

The Tiger is nothing more than a survivor against a puncher. Not too keen on Price either yet so this should be interesting. I do credit Thompson for being modestly humble instead of a foul mouthed con-job. Good luck to both.

Posted January 25, 2013 4:51 am

It will do Price the world of good getting a few rounds in with a tested southpaw who will at least look as if he’s come to try and win.might know a bit more about price after this one Thompson is a bit better than a few on here think not top draw admittedly but a bum like Audley and the rest, let’s be honest Price hasn’t faced any one but journey men yet.

Posted January 25, 2013 4:19 am

Good fight for Price. Thompson is tall, a south paw and the only guy to whoop him is the current champ Wlad. He will be an interesting test but I think it will end brutally like the Audley Harrison fight. After this price should take on Wach or Helnius then Wlad. Not surprised Fury avoided Thompson

Posted January 25, 2013 3:29 am

i would say this tony thompson is about 10 times the fighter audley was when audley faced haye. THE only one that knocked thompson out was the great wlad klitschKO…….someone so great all he would have to do is look at a guy like sredmond and sredmond would be ktfo

Posted January 25, 2013 12:38 am

at the end of the day thompson is a better opponnent than about anyone else your gonna find in england accept fury in my eyes. thompson is very seasoned. i look forward to this matchup myself. I will definetly be watching

Posted January 25, 2013 12:37 am

This is a good step up for price in my opinion. Thompson is a southpaw and he will be a hard style to fight. add to that this will give price a common wlad oppnent. This could mean something for tony too. if he were to upset price it would show everyone who has been talking smack or if he fights a good fight with price it will show tony’s real value.

Posted January 25, 2013 12:35 am

I would rather see Wilder vs Price.. Thompson isn’t a fittng opponent, but maybe he’ll give David some badly needed rounds.. I doubt it… Harrison was supposed to give Price rounds and it didn’t happen.. Price has 30 something rounds as a pro.

Now Wilder vs Price? … That would be a tough fight for both men.. But the idea today seems to be — go fight a bunch of no risk opponents and get a title shot.

Tony Thompson v Deontay Wilder, Wilder needs a test.

Posted January 24, 2013 9:04 pm

Thompson is old.

Posted January 24, 2013 7:07 pm

one good shot and thompson will quit

Posted January 24, 2013 4:13 pm

This will be all over in three or four rounds. There is no tiger in thompson anymore, he is almost shot

Posted January 24, 2013 3:16 pm

This is an OLD fighter who just got knocked out and is setting up to get knocked out or beat up by a younger fighter a step above Audley Harrison… SNOOOOZE

Posted January 24, 2013 2:49 pm

Blue Blood

Good fight this, good step up for Price although Thompsons two fights against Wlad may have taken a lot out of him, Maloney must believe Thompson is near shot, might be right but then again…

Posted January 24, 2013 2:14 pm

Price will KO this bum inside 3 rounds.

Posted January 24, 2013 2:09 pm

Another annonymous who expects Price to win, but Thompson is a class act. He is a good fighter, but is also respectful to the fan, and the opponent. Although past his best, Thompson will try to win and may give the fans a good show.

Posted January 24, 2013 2:08 pm

Dont see Fury ducking Thompson at this time…and Price will stop Thompson.Thompson should tell us more overall about Price but I feel Price has the skills and power to end this in 6 or 7 rounds…lets see.
