Looks like a good step up fight for Fury. Might also be a good bout!

Posted November 14, 2012 11:21 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

He already has two loses…

Posted November 14, 2012 8:47 pm

Loss # 2 comng up for the Safety Pin.

Posted November 14, 2012 8:22 pm

This Johnson no doubt the slickest fighter that Fury will have faced so far……….. the trouble is that whilst Fury has probably kept in training for his Dec 1 date……..Johnson most likely hasn’t………and 2 weeks to train for a major fight just seems too little………especially as Johnson won’t have much time to find sparring partners who are the same size as Fury.
Fury will definitely the more prepared than Johnson come Dec 1……..and that ultimately could decide the fight.

Th This is a terrible choice of opponent for Furey. No one looks good against Johnson, and he has the best jab in the division. I think Fury loses this one, maybe on a stoppage late.

Posted November 14, 2012 10:32 am

I think this is very smart matchmaking for Fury. He is fast and rangy enough to outwork Johnson without ever needing to get close enough that Johnsons movement really causes that much trouble, and Johnson has an inflated stock from showing the limitations to the variety of Vitali’s attack.

Mick the Marmalizer

Why do they call them travellers when they live in chrome plated static caravans?

Posted November 14, 2012 5:00 am

Fury vs. Johnson…I guess Johnson just stands there and does nothing while Tyson hits himself?

Posted November 13, 2012 8:51 pm

Wilder is fighting his first live one. I guess that is something to be excited about.

Posted November 13, 2012 6:31 pm

I think Fury’s camp anticipates or knows Johnson is not in shape. A top fit Johnson is able to avoid the big blows, can win rounds with the jab, and based on Firtha and pavlic fights, Johnson might even able to put Fury away. If he is in shape… I honestly don’t understand Fury’s camp here. A top fit Johnson seems all wrong to me for Fury

Hard fight for Fury. This guy was training partner with someone Fury’s size and is a very slick skilled boxer. Could be a disaster for Fury. May as well face Price lose but not be a coward

Posted November 13, 2012 8:49 am

Yeah Yeah

Typical Fury giving an opponent all of 2 1/2 weeks to prepare for a fight. Stop running from Price and give us what we want, your first KO defeat. No one likes you.

Posted November 13, 2012 8:41 am

Dangerous fight for Fury – IF Safety Pin Johnson comes to fight! We’ll see. If Fury can pull off a convincing victory, he will be on Vladimir’s radar. A fight next year would be possible.

Posted November 13, 2012 8:33 am

the voice of reason

This is a big fight for fury and a big step up. If johnson comes to win then this will be very interesting indeed. If fury stops him he will make a real statement. What a great match up. Cant wait!

perez fights ruslan chagaev dec 1st.

Posted November 13, 2012 5:11 am

agree with Derek. Very poor risk/reward ratio. Good that Fury is stepping it up but not against a guy who is much better then people give him credit for.

Posted November 13, 2012 5:08 am

Forget this fight, this may be a little step up for Fury, but Kevin Johnson is no real test. Everthing other than a clear win would be a dissappointment, and would show us, that Fury has not the skills to compete on Champion-Level.

Mick the Marmalizer

Fury’s not doing himself any favours by fighting in the UK as much as he does. He needs to get on more cards in Germany & the USA.

Posted November 13, 2012 4:14 am

P.s. what has happened to Mike Perez? He looked world class

Posted November 13, 2012 3:42 am

Fun Fight!

Posted November 13, 2012 3:39 am

Fury looks a decent prospect sometimes, awful others. If he isn’t in shape he is in for a long night. Fortunately for him Hennessey fighters are known to get gift decisions. TBH he never should’ve ducked Price who has the skills but not the chin

Posted November 13, 2012 3:39 am

Bad move for Fury. Beating Johnson might gain him respect among boxers but Kingpin isn’t ranked high anymore, and is a hell of a risk to give Fury his first loss. Very poor risk/reward ratio. Would have been smarter to just bring Johnson in for sparring if he wanted to improve.

Posted November 13, 2012 3:09 am

Fury will take this surely not that I would rate him as real contender to the brothers ( no yet anyway and prob not ever).Hennessey has yet again picks a handy one(and if its not fury’s finished).Johnson ain’t all that , no doubt Hennessey will talk it up but this is a guy who hasn’t been good for a while .Interestingly enough this guy pulled out of Prizefighter 2011 because mike Perez was in it and ducked him this year as well yet Hennessey says Mike Perez is below fury’s level, ya good one Mick ,sounds like Kevin Johnson isn’t the only one dodging Mike Perez if you ask me.

Posted November 13, 2012 2:39 am

wow – this is a great match up. Hats off to fury and his team for taking this cos this is a very risky fight. If fury does a number on johnson i will be a believer. If johnson comes to win though………

Posted November 13, 2012 2:32 am

After Boystov backed out on Fury..this is a good solid fight for Fury.Fury looked really well in his last fight he put alot of nice things together..combos..jabs..footwork.And seen some recent photos of Fury in training..belive it or not he is starting to get ripped looking in great shape.

Posted November 13, 2012 12:38 am

I say that as a jab against Collin’s other article, now watch he he’ll probably k.o. the big dude.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:55 pm

Johnson will need to let his hands go against Tyson so he doesn’t blow his chances. (see above) har har.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:54 pm

The Kingslayer

Fury is a joke.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:46 pm

Hey Tark, I’m think Wilder is going to smoke Kelvin Price early.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:34 pm

Fury is ranked in the top 10 by RING and Boxrec primarily for outhustling an out of shape Chisora and should be the favorite here against Johnson. Johnson while skilled, hasn’t proven to be a top 10 heavyweight. He did prove tough lasting the distance against Vitali Klitschko but his best win is over Leapai who isn’t top 10 material either. However styles make fights and Johnson may provide some challenges. He has an excellent jab and sneaky power despite his low KO percentage. The fight could come down to conditioning which may favor the nearly decade younger Fury. Fury also has a reach advantage. Fury should win a decision here but Johnson will have his moments.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:29 pm

Johnson’s kind of like a newer version, of . . . what the heck was that guys name? Oh yeah, Owen Beck

Posted November 12, 2012 10:26 pm

Might be some smack talk on this one.

Posted November 12, 2012 10:23 pm

Johnson a contender and a step up?

Posted November 12, 2012 9:51 pm

Kevin Johnson is anything but a world class fighter. I don’t know what Fury is talking about. I don’t follow Fury at all because he fights nobody’s and appears to be going nowhere fast but I do know that Kevin Johnson is a second rate wannabe contender. Is Fury ever going to step up the competition? I hardly think a victory over Johnson will prepare him for Vitali or earn him the shot.

Posted November 12, 2012 9:44 pm

I like this fight for Fury… Johnson is one Hell of a defensive boxer with tricky leads and counters… Tyson is stepping it up big time, and I’m happy for KJ as well … Another fight I like is Deontay Wilder vs Kelvin Price.. Let’s get it in gear Deontay, like Wladimir urged you to do during your gig as a sparring partner for him—as he prepared for Wach.. You sure as hell are getting a lot of good work in with top boxers.

Fight Aficionado

Now that’s more like it. Was never high on Johnson but he is a legit top 20 guy with a lot of talent. This shows Fury is serious about making a move.

Big John Wain

I met with Fury a couple of months ago in Belgium at a boks/kickbox event. Very nice guy and smart too. We had a chat cos we’re at the V.I.P and had tables next to eachother. I advised him not to take on one of them Klits yet cos at that time I tought it wasn’t a wise thing to do. Anyway, looking at the
opponents the Klits had recently, I’m sure Fury would have done a better job. Why I think that???? Well this guy is very intellegent, he’s a good, skillfull fighter and he doesn’t underestimate his opponent. So I think the Johnson fight is a good matchup. It will be a tuff fight, but I go for Fury. And if he does a good job on Johnson like he said he will, than I think he’s ready for one of them big guns. Goodluck Tyson Fury.

Not a Fury fan but I dislike Johson and am hoping for a Fury KO win here

Posted November 12, 2012 5:59 pm

just because johnson lost in that prize fight dnt mean anything that wasn suited for johnson style he shouldn have been in there the first place johnson got a chance he just got to let his hands go if not he going to just get outwork i think fury use his jab going to be the key but johnson got a good jab to but fury got better he improved i got fury by decsion

Posted November 12, 2012 5:54 pm

LMAO …..

Posted November 12, 2012 5:23 pm

kingpin by UD …..

Posted November 12, 2012 5:22 pm

Lazy Johnson will get stopped in 8 rounds Tyson Fury is to good

Posted November 12, 2012 4:55 pm

This is a good fight for both. Its a guaranteed win for fury as johnson has about as much pop as malignaggi and fury will rack up the rounds easily enough with his reach advantage. Fury by UD.

Posted November 12, 2012 4:41 pm

Much better fight that the very small (and weak willed) Boytstov. I would NOT write off Johnson here. In fact, I will be not the LEAST bit surprised to see the very skilled Johnson win this fight.

Posted November 12, 2012 4:37 pm

Good test for tyson. Tough to get someone short notice after boystov crapes his knickers and ran off. Tyson should win but a intresting heavyweight fight
Good for the division
