The Mexican got his Culito kicked big time by the smaller Argentinian.

Matthysse Vs. Molina was probably the fight of the year, it was a bloody war………….

Chris brown raises a valid question.I believe a bit of both entertaing mismatches, but we will see never the less.

These are mismatches/showcase fights. I would rather see Thurman vs. Guerrero, Porter, Khan, Broner, or Maidana. Instead: Thurman vs. Julio Diaz. I like Thurman a lot, but I cannot get excited for a predictable outcome.

Martin “El Bruchador” Honorio

Isn’t Julio Diaz is one lucky guy, he had been a measuring stick for the upcoming fighters in Dela Hoya stable, been very busy lately.

Big Ham

Boxing will continue to do well regardless of how bad the promotors treat the sport. Yes they are mismatches. I also think showtime premium fights are coming less and less since GPB took over their airwaves. The cards are bigger, usually tripleheaders. But honestly i would prefer 3 meaningful seperate fights on seperate dates each with one decent undercard fight with an up and comer to support the main event. I am not complaining to loudly as i still watch all the fights. But as long as business is good, i don’t see the promotors and networks raising their game to really improve matchmaking.

Chris Carlson,
why title an article so foolishly…of course these are mismatches.if you even dare ask the question then you shouldnt be writing boxing articles.the header shouldve read why is goldenboy and showtime putting on these mismatches then we can all debate the cause but please dont open an article with such a dumb question.

All Sparring sessions.

Fight Aficionado

Yes they’re three mismatches. Back in the day premium cable didn’t do this. But most cards that are competitive are now PPV, so they’ve trained us to have lower standards.

The Mexican is going to get his Culito Kicked Badly like Victor Ortiz and Ponce Deleon

More people subscribe to HBO. Showtime made the Floyd deal to help boost subscriptions.

According to reports, their subscriptions are up.

It’s what you are generating overall in your spikes and incoming business compared to prior. If they are adding, they are winning.

I subsribe to both so I’m cool.

Showtime, I can’t stand that play-by-play guy with his fake voice. Its like those radio dj’s who put on an act.

now Jim Lampley is much better, has a better voice, but over the years he has declined in quality. I don’t know if it is because he is old and his estrogen is up causing him to be more emotional…but he needs to get back in the game or leave. And keep politics and all that other nonsense out of it. Just call the fight. You aren’t special. Stop trying to be like those refs who want people to know their name.

Oscar absolutely wants to put on the best shows/matchups possible. Unlike Pac and Floyd, Oscar went all out in his career to fight the best at their best even when he was not at his best. So he lost. big Deal. At least he gave the fans what they wanted.
I can’t say the same for Arum or even his CEO Richy

A Garcia

Golden Boy / Showtime is currently the best boxing to watch. Social media lets people who dont know boxing , who have a hard time accepting change, who hate on success, who are negative speak before any event. Real boxing fans appreciate any event and still watch HBO fights, but Showtime is doing a better job as of now.Top Rank does Suck! Try talking to an 80 yr old person and try changing there way of thinking, you will have no luck.
Thurman, Mattyhese, Figueroa are the now of boxing, new era. Floyd , Pac, Cotto, Marquez, Martinez, Hopkins, will be gone in the next yr or two time to let go.

Jay rock

I like the card! HBO is boring now! They don’t have any good fights! Well that’s because they deal with top rank and they suck now
