Broner is targeting the canvass.Posted April 4, 2014 5:31 pm
Thats true. If you are going to talk trash at least back it up. Thats why Broner and Khan are disliked. Because the talk too much and when it really counts the get KTFO. Look at Matthysse, Provodnikov,Bradley,Pacquioa, Danny Garcia. They put in the work and win or lose they are still respected by many. Nobody likes a loudmouth.Posted April 4, 2014 11:07 am

Broner will never make it against any top opposition…why? because he never fought top opposition until Maidana, and look what happened….the 140lb division is loaded with talented and strong willed opposition…Garcia, Matthysse, Peterson and Judah, to name a few. And forget about him attempting 147lbs again!Posted April 3, 2014 10:46 pm
He better target some defense.Posted April 3, 2014 5:35 pm
Yep, the loss didn’t humble him, he’s the same idiot he always was, too bad. I suppose now he’ll go back to facing those notorious non-pinchers like he fought before?Posted April 3, 2014 12:43 pm

140 is the best place for him because he just aint ready for 147, but it will be too hard for him to make weight at 135 anymore. There are still a lot of tough fights for him at 140. I would love to see him fight Danny Garcia at 140 since I don’t see a reason for “Swift” to make a permanent move to 147 except for a Mayweather fight, in which he could move right back to 140 afterwards.Posted April 3, 2014 7:55 am

If Garcia does vacate those 140 lb titles put Broner in with Matthysse for a vacant title. That would be even more comical than Maidana’s beatdown was. Unfortunately GBP will make sure it’s the softest possible opponent for him to get a title from.Posted April 2, 2014 11:36 pm
Broner beating up Khan is a good tune up fight IMO. Khan isnt exactly elite, he doesn’t even belong anywhere near the likes of Mayweather or Pacquioa…Posted April 2, 2014 9:50 pm

Adrien needed to be tested and have his ego deflated a bit. So now, let’s see how, after the defeat from Maidana, he does and as I stated in an earlier posting,I’m not too sure his next opponent is of any major caliber so, this fight may be just a tune up for a more, top class opponent … Now, it’s all up to him… PEACE … Theboxingdictionary.com ..”The Language of the RingPosted April 2, 2014 9:20 pm

Molina? really? How about Garcia for his belts? Broner vs Garcia at 140lbs or Khan vs Broner. that would also be good. Let Molina face Collazo.Posted April 2, 2014 8:44 pm
Broner dropping down to 140 is good, getting back down to 135 would be even better. Now just hoping the ass-whooping Maidana put on him will get him refocused, because I believe an Adrien Broner who trains properly, is hungry, and dedicated to his craft is a very dangerous Adrian Broner.Posted April 2, 2014 8:40 pm
See. Or what about broner vs peterson. Another interesting matchupPosted April 2, 2014 8:28 pm
As long as they keep broner from the 147lb division he will be ok. He has skills and talent. Just no power at 147 and no punch resistance. That ass whooping he took from chino shoulda humbled him and made him more hungry and focused. We will see. Broner vs Garcia? Good fight. Ab has a chance. Interesting toPosted April 2, 2014 8:25 pm
I wish the best 140 pounder of all time KT was still around in his prime to fight this idiot Broner. He would teach him a lesson the way he taught other loud mouths a lesson in Sharmba Mitchell and Judah. They were never the same after they fought the MasterPosted April 2, 2014 7:32 pm
Pretty much the flea infested mono wants the belt the garcia is throwing away.Posted April 2, 2014 7:21 pm
Jr Welter is pretty strong division also. I just don’t see him beating the top 4 there.Posted April 2, 2014 6:15 pm
Broner gets hit way too much to hang around for long. The beating he took against Maidana was legendary. He was hurt in every single round and out on his feet in 5 or 6 rounds.
I wonder if he will every recover fully after a loss like that. Jeff Lacy wasn’t beat up as badly against Joe C but he was never the same again.Posted April 2, 2014 5:25 pm
Peej, just to be clear. Arm punches is when you don’t put your body weight behind your punches. Basically just throw the arm out there and hope it scores. Very little power.
Power punches are by def, any punch that is not a jab. Capice?Posted April 2, 2014 5:23 pm
Broner has some mad skills, and can look fantastic….but at his very core he is a bully, and we know what happens to bullies when they meet someone who isn,t scared of them and fights back.Posted April 2, 2014 5:21 pm

Not in my eyes. That PM vs. Broner fight would have been good as a draw. Broner was mostly inactive & Paulie couldn’t crack an egg. But Paulie out-hustled Broner(what else was he going to do). Death by a thousand slaps, it worked for Calzaghe. If you said Broner won by a slight margin, then I could respect your honesty. But it wasn’t a clear cut victory with the exception of you & the judge who turned in his scorecard in braille.Posted April 2, 2014 4:56 pm

Note Molina can’t punch out of a wet paper bag. That’s the reason Broner chose him after getting blasted from pillar to post by Maidana.Posted April 2, 2014 4:24 pm
Manny “Fighter of Floyd’s prime decade” Pacquiao
I think every elite fighter from 35 up smashes Broner. Its like Broner started watching Floyd beginning with the Mosley fight. B roners a confused fighter he wants to be Floyd but is built like Berto.Posted April 2, 2014 3:56 pm
I don’t think it could of gone either way. You had Paulie who was throwing arm punches and not really landing and you had Broner landing power punches. Now I am not saying Broner had enough power to hurt or KO Paulie but he was rocking his head back and forth. I am a big Paulie fan and this was the first fight were he didn’t look like he was attempting to put any power behind his punches. They were strictly arm punches. I also know Paulie doesn’t have much power but still he didn’t look like he was even attempting to hurt Broner. Broner clearly won in my eyes.Posted April 2, 2014 3:55 pm

Peej- Broner vs. Paulie definitely wasn’t a clear cut win. It was a SD that could have gone either way. With the exception of the one blind judge giving Broner 9 rounds. Haymon’s fighter got/bought the benefit. If you don’t consider that dubious then you might want to look up the word dubious.Posted April 2, 2014 3:32 pm
throw broner in with ruslan provodnikov at 140 let’s see what happensPosted April 2, 2014 3:17 pm
”Broner def has the skills and talent to beat any and everybody at 140 including garcia”
Sure he does. He’s already been exposed x 4. Quintero, De Leon, Malignaggi, and Maidana have all exposed his limitations and none of them are exactly elite. Quintero is nobody. De Leon is tiny compared to Broner. And Malignaggi and Maidana are blown up career light-welterweights. Malignaggi is way past his best as well.Posted April 2, 2014 3:11 pm
Broner is a gate keeper. He lost twice at WW against mediocre opposition. Now he’s fighting the cutest most featherfisted guy at 140. He’ll get killed against Matthysse or any decent 140 fighter.
“At the end of the day I’m going to do what will make Adrien Broner happy,” Broner said.
Monkee.Posted April 2, 2014 2:42 pm
Broner hasn’t earned a fight with Garcia. No need to see that fight. He needs to earn it first.Posted April 2, 2014 2:35 pm
Wise decision. Broner def has the skills and talent to beat any and everybody at 140 including garcia. He was just too small and not enough power to compete at 147. Also he cant take a punch from a full ww like chino or any other ww with power. But i think broner can beat garcia.Posted April 2, 2014 2:21 pm
Man as a writer, you’re very negative towards some of the boxers you write about. You state a lot of opinions as foregone conclusions – I don’t see Maurico Herrera as a loss for BronerPosted April 2, 2014 2:20 pm
Why doesn’t he fight Danny Garcia for the title instead of picking it up after it’s been left behind. That will lead even more people to believe he’s avoiding tough fights as it is. SMHPosted April 2, 2014 2:13 pm

We never saw any of the Flomos/Bronos crying about size disparity when Broner was stepping into the ring 16 + lbs heavier than he was on the scales the day before when he was campaigning at super-featherweight and lightweight.
Size only became an issue when he got his fanny handed to him by Maidana. But blown up career light-welterweights Malignaggi and Maidana were ”too big for him”. Maidana had a 5lbs advantage over Broner, the exact same weight advantage Broner had over his biggest win Antonio DeMarco. But predictably there was no mention of size disadvantages then of of course.Posted April 2, 2014 1:55 pm
I don’t think the Paulie fight was a dubious win. I do think DeLeon beat him but I never did see the other fight will folks say he lost.Posted April 2, 2014 1:46 pm

teepee- Broner has one official loss. But he has 3 other dubious wins. Those gift decision came when he stepped up his opposition. Learning curve? Not sure. Broner has not yet to live up to the hype. He still has time. But he is not the next Jr.Posted April 2, 2014 1:33 pm
Broner has proved a couple of times in his career that he struggles with opponents (like Paul Malignaggi & Marcos Maidana) who have a good enough chin to withstand his blows, whilst throwing enough punches of their own to outwork and seemingly outscore him… and there are far too many fighters (for my liking) campaigning at 140lb’s that have the necessary tools to solve ‘The Problem’.
Have we received confirmation yet that Danny Garica will definitely making the jump to the 147lb division, because the last I heard, his father (Angel) wants to maintain the status quo as he doesn’t want to rush things?
If the ‘Swift’ one chooses to continue campaigning as a light welterweight, to settle unfinished business with Mauricio Herrera, then I don’t see how Broner could beat any of the current title holders.
If I look at the people officially listed as light-welterweights, I’m not that confident that Adrien would be able to beat any of the top five fighters in that weight class. That being said, Amir Khan’s career move to the 147lb division seems permanent and Ruslan Provodnikov and Khabib Allakhverdiev are HBO fighters, so they wouldn’t be able to face ‘The Problem’ either.
That leaves the likes of Lucas Matthysse, Lamont Peterson & Danny Garcia.
So perhaps Broner will take the “safe” route by challenging for Peterson’s IBF title, because Matthysse doesn’t hold any of the belts and it may be far too ambitious to challenge a future pound-for-pounder like Garcia so soon after being humbled in a one-sided manner by the talented, but very beatable, Marcos Madiana.
Adrien Broner is young enough to improve and learn from his mistakes, but I fear it’s going to take a couple of years for him to evolve his style to cater for the tough busy fighters currently campaigning in the light-welterweight division.Posted April 2, 2014 1:26 pm
exactly, he should of moved up graduallyPosted April 2, 2014 1:21 pm
Broner can come back he only had 1 loss and ppl act like he got 5 L I just think they rush him and his body wasn’t ready yet but he will be back soonPosted April 2, 2014 1:10 pm
I agree Crawford would beat him. I would like to see that fight. There are some monsters at 140. Lets see if they have the same power though as the 147lb class. And also what is Broners power gonna look like at 140.Posted April 2, 2014 1:10 pm
Broner is as overrated as they come. He may get a title at 140 but he wont get it by beating a top fighter in the division. Garcia, Peterson & Herrera all box circles around him. Alvarado gives him a beating similar to what Chino did and Provo knocks him out. He is there to be hit. Brandon Rios would probably beat the hell out of Broner.Posted April 2, 2014 1:05 pm

targeting a vacant title makes no sence, useless, he can fight and should just fight garciaPosted April 2, 2014 11:21 am
Broner has some talent, he beat most of his opponents with skill. Up and comers cant shine when they get in the ring with experience. Maidana has good opposition experience. After Floyd, Pac, Cotto, marquez, etc who will be the big names out there.Posted April 2, 2014 10:45 am
As much as I liked and still like Broner’s talent.. I jsut don’t know how good his future is going to be… that lost really has shaken things for him and 140 looks just as dangerous as 147 for him with Mattheyese, Garcia, Ruslan, Herrera, Duhlorme, (I know I butchered half these names).. It looks like he could get knocked out by many fighters there.. and he has just been talking a check that his butt can’t cash…. giving them more fuel to end his life when they step in teh ring with him…
He really shoul dhave just stayed at 135 at the time and then progressed to 147 instead of facing MalignaggiPosted April 2, 2014 9:56 am
See if he looks different at 140. It is a good move because 147 is just to big for him. If he is still gonna be partying like he has been, nothing will change.Posted April 2, 2014 9:47 am

Good move for Broner.Posted April 2, 2014 7:36 am
Adrien Broner has 3 notable wins … Ponce de Leon, Demarco, and Malignaggi.
Adrien Broner has 1 bad loss … Maidana.
Broner is a young guy — so this is actually a pretty solid record.
But this is not the record of a 3-4 division champion.
This is not the record of an elite pound-for-pound fighter.
This is not the record of a hall of fame fighter.
Adrien Broner is just not that good.Posted April 2, 2014 7:30 am
I’m glad Broner is dropping to 140. I think 135 would be even better, but at least he’s out of the WW division. Maybe his promoters, managers, and trainers aren’t quite as stupid as I thought.Posted April 2, 2014 7:27 am

There are more powerfull fighters for titles than Herrera, Dulorne or Aidyn – I think for WBA is now Vargas vs. Alakchardiev, still waiting Matthysse and Peterson, Ayidin will fight with Victor Postol and of course Alvarado a Ruslan Provodnikov – all these guys have power to destroy Broner… Other thing is, maybe bosses will give Broner a weaker opponent…Posted April 2, 2014 2:09 am
