It’s a business first. Khan has a large following, which equals butts in the buckets. Besides, Floyd could use an easy KO to build up his next fight…Posted October 2, 2013 12:21 pm
Floyd has just lost a lot of credibility. He is fighting Khan next. It stinks. Khan has never fought at welterweight and has no belt. Diaz floored Khan last time out and we all know Garcia spanked him. How does Khan deserve a shot? This is crazy and bad for boxing. Khan just wants a pay day then will retire. Shame on you, Floyd.Posted October 2, 2013 7:27 am

There is no reason for Floyd/Con to happen, after all, A Mere Con job should be free if it takes place. If it takes place, it’s because Floyd still refuses to challenge himself against better fighters and wants fans to continue to subsidize his lifestyle for nothing in return.Posted October 1, 2013 10:30 am

If Khan is fishing for a big payday against Floyd — and isn’t talking it over with Hunter, that would be a big mistake … That’s disrespectful.Posted October 1, 2013 1:43 am
Funny thing is Khan doesn’t actually have a big UK following. Whenever he fights in the US about 1 man and his dog flies over to watch him. He relies on fighting in the opponents backyard to bump up the numbers. Fight won’t be in the UK, time would be too early for US viewers an ST would prefer to air the fight in US time.
Khan does not have the tools to beat FMJ. Heck he isn’t even the best Welterweight in the UK… He’ll take the money and crisply fold in much the same manner.Posted September 30, 2013 6:23 pm
Mayweather knows all about Khan. Khan spent some time at Floyd’s gym working out with Roger before he hooked up with Freddie Roach. Right there they know Khan’s base tendencies and will use this knowledge to whup his ***.
HARSH REALITYPosted September 30, 2013 3:21 pm
This fight is very sellable amongst the casuals and one both teams wanted for at least 18 months. Khan will look as fast (less so without Ariza) and unintelligent as normal. Take his lumps and stoppage loss but his Bank computer (do they do managers anymore?) will be very happy.Posted September 30, 2013 12:36 pm
Khan might be well served to go ahead and get this loss out of the way and cash himself a FAT check…. At the end of the day he is NOT gonna beat the version of Floyd Mayweather that defeated Saul Alvarez, Khan has heart and will try to show he belongs with Floyd which will be his undoing… Estimates on Khans upside have dropped drastically but the fact that he and Floyd could produce a big event in England is to his benefit… Boy might as well get paidPosted September 30, 2013 11:50 am
Im not disagreeing with what Hunter said, but he shouldn’t have said it publicly.Posted September 30, 2013 10:56 am
Virgil Hunter is the worst trainer ever. Instead of bad mouthing your fighter why not train him to beat Mayweather after all there’s a lot of money to be made. Also this guy has no motivational skills whatsoever especially the way he would whisper to his fighters between rounds. If you have so little confidence in Khan why did you decide to train him. I think Khan saw how good Andre Ward is and thought this is all because of Virgil Hunter. Khan has really gotten worst since he’s with Virgil.Posted September 30, 2013 10:26 am
Anonymous, have you thought that Hunter may feel disrespected by Team Khan reneging on the deal to face Alexander and prostituting themselves straight for a Mayweather payday? Trainers like Hunter have a rep to protect and also a program to follow. He knows Khan stank out the joint vs The Kidd and was lucky not to get a draw verdict? Khan has actually regressed, if you take into account his last two bouts were against blown up lightweights, the latter old as well as blown up!
Hunter would like to test the waters vs an A grade fighter, before plunging neck deep in with an A++ fighter!

This is terrible news, how does Khan deserve a shot? He doesn’t. He will simply get a big pay day and retire saying “I fought the best and lost, where else is there for me to go?” If Floyd gives this chump a shot he will lose a lot of respect. Khan is a joke and should not be in the same sentence as Mayweather, much less the same ring! I will not buy this and won’t bother watching the build up. Get a life you scared mayweather fan boys because I am sure if mayweather takes the fight with khan you will change the story about khan and say khan is the best opponent out there for mayweather to fight but you are praying that mayweather don’t take khan fight because you know khan can lose problems to mayweather because of his fast hands and agility and looking bad against khan even if he wins is a lose lose fight for him so stop with the “khan dosent deserve the fight ” cr@!!!Posted September 29, 2013 5:18 pm

There aren’t that many viable opponents for Floyd at 147/154 though. Khan has speed and can box and punch a bit, but he isn’t going to beat Floyd. I’d be surprised if Amir could go the full 12 rounds wherever the fight would be held. Mayweather has the relexes, speed, footwork, defensive skills and sound chin to neutralize Amir’s assets. Floyd can punch a little too and Amir wears down, hasn’t the best chin and to top it all off, Floyd fights much smarter too. Pretty sure Floyd would get a TKO anywhere from rounds 8-10.Posted September 29, 2013 2:03 pm

I agree Khan does not deserve a fight with Floyd. He either needs to do something at 140 or needs to do something at 147 to earn that fight. Khan has only shown that he is a good fighter, he hasn’t shown that he is the Elite or an A+ fighter. He may be a high B or low A fighter, that is about it. And he definitely needs to prove that he would belong in the ring with Floyd and he most definitely has not done that.Posted September 29, 2013 9:46 am
1.) Khan does not deserve a fight with Floyd 2.) Khan isnt even a champion 3.) Kahn is not ranked Pound for pound 4.) Khan has not avenged ANY of his losses 5.) Khan is not good enough 6.) But don’t worry Floyd is not crazy and the fight won’t happen.. GGG will make his name when Martinez is forced to fight him.. He can only duck him for so long.” Tark, My thoughts as well.Posted September 29, 2013 8:55 am

British #1 @ 147Lb Kell Brook’s more deserving of a shot at PBF then Khan & he’s not worthy. A better fight for Flloyd & the general public would be the winner of the upcoming WBA title fight between Broner & Maidana or the Bradley/Marquez WBO clash. We’re talking about the 100% #1 P4P’er in the World here. The only other option I can see would be Pacman(147Lb) or S.G.Martinez @ 154Lb.Posted September 29, 2013 3:59 am

A Mayweather-Khan fight wouldn’t take place anywhere else but England… There is no other reason to MAKE such a fight.
Floyd would have no fear of the judges robbing him… He would be so dominant over Khan it’s not very likely the fight would go to a decision… If it DID go the distance Khan would be badly beaten up and not even his own mother would give him the decision.
It’s the same reason John David Jackson gave for not worrying about fighting undefeated Nathan Cleverly in England.., “If by some miracle this fight goes the distance, Nathan Cleverly will be so beaten up nobody will mistake him for the winner.”Posted September 29, 2013 2:09 am
The only way Floyd won’t last 6 with GGG is IF GGG quits on the stool from embarrassment. Or gets himself DQ’d like Canelo tried to DO. He couldn’t him Floyd with a GOOD punch SO he became frustrated like Ortiz and threw his shoulder at Floyd and low blowed him TOO. But Floyd’s poise was TOO GREAT. He didn’t unravel like Holyfield DID vs Tyson. He stuck to the gameplan and clocked another DOMINANT W.Posted September 28, 2013 11:46 pm
Tell GGG to Fight a couple times at 154 to eliminate the Excuses. The man is way TOO SLOW for Floyd. Floyd’s only competition right now would be Rigo. Floyd would out weigh him by 20 lbs though. SO not only would Floyd’s SKILL beat him his SIZE would beat him TOO. But Rigo would be more competitive than Canelo was. Rigo could WIN 4 rounds out of 12. Golovkin wouldn’t WIN more than 2. He’ll LOOK slower than Molasses vs a Very QUICK Welter just like Canelo DID.Posted September 28, 2013 11:40 pm
By the way Hunter is RIGHT. Khan can’t even beat Danny Garcia thats why he decided to RUN from the Division. IF you can’t beat the #0 P4P CHAMP what makes you think you can beat the #1 P4P CHAMP???? Are you trying to pull a Ralph Jones on Sugar Ray Robinson???? GOOD luck.Posted September 28, 2013 11:33 pm
Fraud Mayweather won’t last 6 rounds against GGG.
That’s why he’s running away, because he KNOWS he will get KO’d
Mayweather stands NO CHANCE against GGG at 154. NONE! ZERO! ZILCH!
Keep making up reasons for Mayweather to run. I love it. You make your great champion look like the cherry picking coward he really is.Posted September 28, 2013 11:33 pm
Where is I SEE GOOD and BEARS????? YOU SAID that Canelo wasn’t a cherrypick but you were both WRONG thats why you both disappeared like MICE. Even the blind MOUSE didn’t have Canelo WINNING. Floyd turned another CHAMP into a CHERRY. I TOLD you that Floyd has been Boxing longer than Canelo has been ALIVE. Canelo isn’t dumb he just faced the smartest and most SKILLED Boxer that ever lived. He couldn’t have LOST to a BETTER man. And at least he accepted his defeat like a MAN. I respect that. Its more than I can say for I see Good and BEARS. Those guys are MUCH harder to find than Waldo….just like Haimat, terror tim, and E in Denver was when Marquez knocked Pacquiao out at Welter just as I predicted.Posted September 28, 2013 11:29 pm
The G9lovkin Fight is a no WIN for Floyd because after Floyd WINS they’ll say Golovkin was very weight drained. They even SAID Canelo was weight drained and he only dropped 1.5 pounds from his previous weigh iN. Golovkin would have to drop 5 lbs from his previous weigh in. SO compared to Canelo Triple G will be TRIPLE weight drained. Floyd’s detractors will cry a RIVER.Posted September 28, 2013 11:20 pm
I love how the Floyd fans are terrified of Mayweather fight Golovkin. They come up with every single excuse they can think of for Fraud Mayweather not to fight Golovkin. Mayweather holds the 154 belt, Golovkin said he would fight anyone at 154. And yet time and time again the Mayweather fans look for every reason possible for the fight not to happen. Mayweather’s fans are even more scared then Fraud Mayweather himself. Great champions don’t run from a fight they could lose, they take up the challenge and prove they are great. Mayweather is a cherrypicking chicken running from Golovkin.Posted September 28, 2013 10:56 pm

Maybe Mayweather was just blowing smoke, but he seemed to indicate that he would like to fight in the UK. And obviously he had Khan on his mind, when thinking that. But really, he would be smarter to fight him in Vegas. That trip to the UK has been hard on many a fighters over the years.Posted September 28, 2013 9:47 pm
I’m really glad you brought that up, brother.
That’s the only factor I see potentially standing in the way of a May/Khan bout taking place in the UK.
If Khan is able to go the distance, with his punch output and speed, I can see him getting a decision from the judges in England even if he doesn’t land anything of consequence.
That’s why I think a fight with Khan will ultimately be held in Vegas…just like the Hatton fight.Posted September 28, 2013 9:43 pm
I remember how Judah folded against Khan. I still say he was trying to get away with a NC or DQ. Still the same, Mayweather is much more mentally tuff than Judah. Mayweather would let Khan burst his load early, then totally out class hime, and probably stop him. Mayweather would have no probably finding Khan’s chin. But yes, it would be a big fight in the UK, and Mayweather has spoke about wanting to fight there. It is also, probably the biggest money maker for Mayweather fight now, but that could change come Novemeber, after the Pacquiao fight. If Pac has a good showing, the Pac fans will be out in forces pushing for a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight again.Posted September 28, 2013 9:42 pm
How can people say floyd is a cherrypicker when basically both he n pacman fought pretty much the same people? Wouldnt that make pac a cherrypicker also? Would pactards as pac to fight alvarez? Prob not cause canelo would kill pac! Would pactards ask pac to fight triple g at 154? No, triple g would kill pac. Triple g is a mw who is too big, too strong for floyd. Floyd should fight guys his size at 147. Triple g has plenty of comp at 160. Floyd and pac will fight soon! Hopefully bob arum and gbp would screw up the negotiations again!Posted September 28, 2013 9:42 pm
The fight would not break the live gate record, the ticket prices would be alot cheaper than Mayweathers last fights, it wouldn’t be 80-000, more like 50-000 if it was in a stadium, no one would pay the silly prices of £200-£300, different market, same as the PPV, it’s usually £15 in the UK, not £40.Posted September 28, 2013 9:40 pm
Khan is amuch better opponent then Garcia vs mayweather …even though Garcia ko’d khan I still think khan will be a much tougher opponent for mayweather then Garcia be ause of khan speed and agility … People seem to forget how khan destroyed Judah who is fast and Garcia was in big trouble at the end of the fight with Judah ,styles make fights and I think after Keith Thurman khan is the one who I think will have a chance to get a decision against mayweather !Posted September 28, 2013 9:35 pm
What is up with this BS, about Mayweather ducking GGG, when they don’t fight on the same network, and are fighting at different weight classes? If GGG, wants that fight he’s going to have to switch networks and change weight classes, otherwise crying about such a fight is pointless, cause it’s not going to happen. Some of you fans act as though the established Mayweather should be chasing down GGG. How long have you been fans of the sport? It never happens like that..Posted September 28, 2013 9:33 pm
If somehow the fight between Khan and Mayweather was close, I wouldn’t be surprised if the judges gave it to Khan. That’s all a part of home field advantage. The only problem is, I would pick Mayweather to stop Khan within 8 rounds, or totally outclass him for 12 rounds.Posted September 28, 2013 9:29 pm
Mayweather V Khan.
Yep, I can see that happening in the UK and filling Wembley Stadium easily. 80,000 fans. Massive money for both fighters. Smart business by all connected to the fight.
Typical of Mayweather to pick a fight he knows he can win as usual.

Ajacks: Joseph, what I am saying is that golden boy and top rank do not work together so that is the problem…. they have the best fighters between the two but they do not get alone….. khan need to fight the winner between broner or rematch danny before he fights floyd… and I heard khan pulled out the Alexander fight because he thinks he will be fighting floyd in may….”
Ajacks, first of all, Floyd does not fight under the Golden Boy Promotional banner. He is his own promotional entity. The only reason why Floyd works with GBP is because Richard Shaefer has the most brilliant business mind in boxing.
He is the only reason why Golden Boy has grown so drastically over the last six years.
This is a business, Ajacks…aside from possessing a tinket around his waist, what does Devon Alexander bring to the table that could enhance Khan’s career as a box office draw?
Khan doesn’t have to prove himself to anyone…and his fans, as well as Mayweather, know this.
He is a former universally recognized 140 pound champion who got knocked out by the currently undefeated universally recognized Junior Welterweight Champ.
So what? Guys get knocked out in boxing; especially if they continuously fight the best competition like Khan always does.Posted September 28, 2013 7:50 pm

It will be an interesting fight, but Floyd stops Khan is 6 or 7 rounds… The thought Khan has is that Floyd is not a puncher or an attacker. That Floyd has the perfect style for him. He’s in for a surprise. Floyd CAN take the offensive, cut the ring off expertly, get close, and throw leather. This is what surprised Shane Mosley and knocked him off his game. Shane never expected Floyd to adjust and come after him.
Floyd uses his opponent’s weakness. Floyd is fairly skilled at walking opponents down, cutting the ring off, and infighting. Floyd will mix with somebody like Khan, who’s disorganized on the inside, lacks an inside defense, and can’t get under a punch.
If this fight comes off, Khan’s speed may bother Floyd for about 2 rounds, much like Judah’s speed and angles bothered Floyd for 3 rounds. Floyd adjusted and got in Zab’s face. When Floyd starts coming, Khan will start running, grabbing, pushing, and complaining to the referee. Floyd will stay on his ass … and knock him out.Posted September 28, 2013 7:07 pm
Khan will get destroyed in the second round!!Posted September 28, 2013 7:07 pm

However I’m his last 5 fights there is nothing in which we can see khan can win so unless he fights with some sort of inner strength that comes once a lifetime khan has no chance to win. Despite popular belief, Top Rank has no problem working with other promoters in boxing.
Tonight, Bob is working with long time friend Artie Pellulo and Banner Promotions. Bob regularly works with K2, 50 Cent, DiBella Entertainment, Gary Shaw, Goossen Tutor, and everyone else in boxing.
If Floyd was somehow able to get past his disdain for his former employer, a fight with Manny Pacquiao could happen. That’s the only thing standing in the way at this time.
Dont be surprised if Manny versus Floyd actually happens in the final fight of his contract with Showtime Sports.Posted September 28, 2013 6:06 pm
Khan has about as much chance as I do of beating FloydPosted September 28, 2013 5:59 pm
Why do floyd have to fight middleweight, super middle weight s, jr welterweights…. he is a welterweight he walks around about 150… why is this always lead back to manny….. you have to understand that they have two different promotional companies and one only fight on hbo and the other is signed to showtime… the other problem is floyd uses goldenboy to co promote and they banned from hbo….. and top rank fighters only fight fighters that are signed to top rank for the most part but that what they all do. So please stop saying floyd is the only one that cherry picks because when you think about it in the last 10 fights name a fighter that floyd had a fight with that manny had not fought so who is the real cherry picker…answer no one you fight who is front of you… they both have people they did not fight because of what ever reason…. so pleas end the cherrypicker conversationsPosted September 28, 2013 5:57 pm
Ramirez: “Joseph Herron will Mayweather ever fight Golovkin, what do you think?”
Absolutely not, Ramirez.
Mostly because of Floyd’s contract with Showtime sports and HBO’s relationship with Gennady Golovkin.
HBO plans to ride Triple G as “their man” as long as he continues to knock his opponents out. Triple G would be a fool to jeopardize his premier spot on the biggest stage of boxing for one big payday against Mayweather.
But when you look at the landscape of the 140 and 147 pound weight divisions, Floyd could do a lot worse than to choose Triple G as an opponent. It would be a huge money fight for him and would ultimately prove to be more lucrative than fights with Devon Alexander, Danny Garcia, or anyone else at 154 pounds.
But, I think Floyd will stay at 147 pounds in his next four fights under the Showtime contract.
Expect Floyd to face Amir Khan in May of 2014…I think this fight is a lock unless Khan loses to someone unexpectedly.Posted September 28, 2013 5:48 pm
Khan could knock out Mayweather, very fast and Mayweather can’t punch, it may be a shock to some, but this has a Khan win written all over it.Posted September 28, 2013 5:26 pm
Good luck Amir Khan, you can beat Mayweather, you have the style, this will be a great fight.Posted September 28, 2013 5:24 pm

Vinny: “Interviewer is a prick”
Vinny, he is the norm when it comes to most boxing writers in this country.
For some strange reason, most adopt an elitist attitude and i can’t understand why…do they really think they’re speaking on behalf of the general boxing public?
You will never hear me interview a fighter or trainer with an elitist menality, and that’s one of the reasons why most fighters and trainers genuinely look forward to appearing on The Pugilist KOrner.
Our job as writers and journalists of the sport is not only to report fairly, but promote the sport the best way possible.
Most boxing writers forget that and ultimately want to simply make a name for themselves at the expense of boxing.
You will never hear me stand up a fighter on air or in a written interview, because boxing is simply entertainment.
These guys are taking punishment for our entertainment, and they don’t deserve to take any from any big fat writers who would never step foot inside the ring.Posted September 28, 2013 5:11 pm
ONCE AGAIN MR QUEUE JUMP, Amir Khan attempts to push in front of more deserving contenders and get his lottery ticket by facing FLOYD MAYWEATHER, as I predicted before Floyd beat CANELO…..
Khan did the same thing by jumping from LIGHTWEIGHT to get a title shot vs KOTELNIK at SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT, when he realised that he could not beat the likes of Galaxxy Warrior, Baby Bull and VALERO….
When is this little **** gonna get in line and earn his shot? He has succeeded in stringing DEVON ALEXANDER along in agreeing a December title tilt, when in all honesty he had no intention of fulfilling the date. I hope he is made to pay all ALEXANDER’S training expenses and other costs. TBH he should be dropped from all the rankings as I am not even convinced he beat THE KIDD, last time out – I scored that a draw!
If he does get the date with Floyd and it’s in the UK, I predict it will be the first ever time people will queue up to see the home fighter humbled and humiliated. Khan is hated here for flapping his gums and not being able to back it up.
just because Oscar called him the new face of boxing when he signed him to Golden Boy, it turned his head and it’s been too big to turn back and get with reality.
When Floyd’s arm is raised in victory, the whole arena will cheer as that will be the end of Khan….. Good riddance!!!
Khan ducked the top lightweights to luck into a title fight with Kotelnik, he did not deserve and now he has ducked all the Welterweights to get a straight shot at Floyd.
Only in boxing!!!!!Posted September 28, 2013 4:40 pm
Amir would be a joke of a fight, he has no business in the ring with Floyd.Posted September 28, 2013 4:38 pm

styles make fights…Floyd would have much tougher time against Khan then he did against Guerrero, Ortiz, and Baldomir.
If Khan has any of his pre-Garcia swagger left in him, I actually expect to see a competitive fight.
I like this style match-up…I think Khan gives Floyd problems…if he can get some of that mentally strength back.Posted September 28, 2013 4:09 pm

Mr Hunter is a wise man, thats why i know the main reason he got involved with an egotistical inbred PA*I with no morals like AMIR KHAN was a business decision.Posted September 28, 2013 3:59 pm
Floyd wants a major fight in the UK… Khan is a low-risk opponent. The fight will be panned in the UK media — but the fans will still show up in record numbers.. They will do another live gate record.. Boxing is a business first and is a lot like life … it’s not fair.
Plenty of undeserving challengers get title shots all the time—since Boxing began. Guys who should get title shots against the best belt holders go begging.
Danny Garcia crushed Khan and should get the next shot… If Amir beat Devon Alexander he would be a logical opponent — but Danny would still be ahead of him in line… How about a rematch with Garcia with the winner to fight Floyd???Posted September 28, 2013 3:49 pm
all this talk about this con Khan vs Mayweather is absolutely ridiculous. His a BUM!Posted September 28, 2013 3:36 pm

I cant believe what I am reading…. AGAIN!!!!
How on this earth does Khan think that he gets to call the shots and click his fingers thinking he is next inline to fight mayweather….
beating two blown up lightweights just to get him some wins for confidence after being ko’s and losing before that….
what has he done to deserve a fight of that stature…. I don’t think he will even get passed devon, so how does he think two low grade wins over poor opposition gives him the right to think he’s the number 1…..
such an insult to boxing that there are far more deserving fighters out there giving it their all against top tier guys and this guy is getting all the press… someone knock him out again please he’s really starting to get on my fu**ing nerves now!!!!!!Posted September 28, 2013 3:33 pm
Agree with this article. This fight would be embarrassing for British boxing. However if khan fights Alexander and beats him and that’s a very big if. Then the fight could be plausible as I highly rate Alexander but I don’t think khan is remotely good enough to beat Alexander. But if he dose then the fight could be saleable. How ever if mayweather wants to fight in Britain thenwe should put in our best guy which is Kell brookPosted September 28, 2013 3:14 pm
Prescott already gave him the rude awakening and with Garcia he suffered brain damage.Posted September 28, 2013 3:14 pm
