Pac stands no chance against Floyd. Never has and never will.

Posted September 19, 2013 9:50 am

Exactly ! Not only there is no one left as Mayweather won’t be an absolut champion if he does not fight Paquiao. For many fans Paquiao will ko Pretty Boy. I include myself in this group.

Also everytime Floyd beats someone people say they where old and not in there prime. Or in Canelos case he was too young even though he had 42 fights and he was weight drained. So there is always an excuse when Floyds goes to work.

Posted September 18, 2013 4:33 pm

Na Floyds legacy is already cemented. He does not need Pac. Especially a Pac that has lost 2 out of his last 3 fights who I believe will be KOd against Rios. The only people that think Floyd would lose to Pac are Pac fans. And Floyd hasn’t had any outrageous demands. So I wouldn’t see why there would be any.

Posted September 18, 2013 4:31 pm

Pacman had his ears b0xed 0ff by Marquez 0n their 3rd fight, l0st t0 Bradley, g0t KTF0 by Marquez n0w is fighting a sacrificial lamb in China, his in N0 p0siti0n t0 be fighting the best in the w0rld.

PRATT – if you think Broner is anywhere near mayweathers level, you haven’t been paying attention.
He has awful footwork. Floyd would box him to Death,

@Peej: Well, it seems to me that because Pac has lost before and Floyd has not, and because so many people still think Pac is the only one who can tarnish Floyd’s coveted zero… FLOYD needs Pac more to cement his legacy. Only if there was NO Pacquiao at WW, would Floyd not need to prove his undisputed greatness.

Posted September 18, 2013 3:25 pm

Old Coot

Peej: That is no excuse… Expressly because Floyd is older, if he beats Pacman, fair and square, without an excess of stupid demands, he will shut up the doubters for good.

Posted September 18, 2013 3:20 pm

And………….the most boring ever to be made would be Floid/Broner, and it would be for all the credits of who could be the Best Shoulder Roll Queen in town. Battle of the Shoulder Rollers. FM/AB, coming to your theaters in 2014. Queen of the Shoulder Roll title is at stake. Floyd/Broner.

Posted September 18, 2013 2:31 pm

Now on the Heavy Weights, Fury/Haye……….Wlad/Povetkin……..Arrella/Wilder. Good stuff coming our way. Floid ain’t the only boxer in town.

Posted September 18, 2013 2:28 pm

JMM already evened the score by devastating KO of Manny. Those two are done. JMM is an all time great and can sleep at night knowing that he put Manny to sleep, literally. But Manny needs Floid and we the fans need FloidAvoid verses Manny. It will close the shop. Then Floid can go on to becoming a Billionaire. He did better than if he was a Jockey, and believe me he could have been a Jockey.

Posted September 18, 2013 2:25 pm

No if Floyd fights Pac now everyone will say he waited till he was old even though Floyd is older. Fact is Pac needs Floyd more than Floyd needs Pac. The fight will never be made unless Pac leaves Top Rank. They are with HBO and Floyd is with Showtime. There is really no way this fight can be made.

Bottom line… Shut this Pac fan up… And I WILL shut up and kiss Floyd’s ring… This I vow!

Posted September 18, 2013 1:30 pm

@Proud African: I respectfully disagree… Floyd NEEDS Pac, because, if he never proves once and for all he can defeat Pacquiao, then to a lot of fans’ minds, his zero, will have an * asterisk *, that denotes, he tried every trick in the book to avoid proving he can’t be beaten by the ONE who possibly could.

Silky – what are you fkn talking about? I loved the way Mayweather expoded all hype Canelo, I loved the way Danny and his father proved everyone wrong once again.. pointing out that some fighter has lost and why he lost is not hating it’s just speaking the truth and I know the truth can hurt..

Is Lara his mandatory? I thought him and the guy he had a draw with were fighting for the mandatory position. I really have no clue. But now he is no longer his mandatory because Canelo is beltless. And I was just stating what I thought. I am not really big on Lara.

Peej – So why isn’t Canelo calling out Lara? his fkn Mandatory.. LOL

Posted September 18, 2013 1:16 pm

Well your counting is off then because Floyd beat Canelo and unfortunately Arum didn’t want Pac in with Floyd.

Posted September 18, 2013 1:08 pm

phat SO

Winning Canelo means squat. Canelo was nobody. Media made this guy established fighter with a great record with nobody on it. Floyd is the guy who won a solid fight with canelo and corrales. Hatton meant nada, I count the loss to Castillo and the running game with Pacman.

Posted September 18, 2013 1:07 pm

Na Lara did not destroy Angulo. He was on his way to losing by KO until he hurt Angulos eye. I am not saying he did not win fair and square because I think he did but if that didn’t happen he was gonna lose.

Posted September 18, 2013 1:06 pm

I am not sold on Lara. I think Canelo would actually beat him. Angulo was on his way to a win, he had a draw with Molina who is not that good and you could actually make an argument that he won that fight. He didn’t look good against umm well can’t think of his name but the guy being trained by Roach, it was a draw. He looked good against an overrated Williams and in that KO of Hears whom is a C class fighter if that.

Posted September 18, 2013 1:05 pm

Lara Destroyed Angulo who is a better version of head first plodding Canelo.. made him quit PULL A NO MAS.. Cinnabum would get KO’d by Lara and his people know it…

Posted September 18, 2013 1:04 pm

As slow and plodding as Cinnabum looked vs Mayweather, Lara would beat Cheesehead as bad as Rigo beat Nonito Donaire…

Cinnabum needs to fight Cuban Lara who he has been avoiding for almost 2 years…

PE, your thesis is corny! Marquez does NOT have to stop Pacquiao again he already did it and at this point JMM being 40 has the right to pursue the next fight he wishes…When did Pacquiao face him in back to back fights??? NEVER…

Posted September 18, 2013 10:56 am

Once again punch stats don’t win you fights. That is ridiculous. What happens if you land a 100 more punches in one round and then get whooped the next 9 and get out landed by 5 punches a round? You are still out landing your opponent by 50 punches but yet you just lost 9 rounds to 1. Explain that one?

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Pacquiao vs. Marquez III:

The fight in which almost everyone on ESB jumps on the bandwagon and agrees that JMM was robbed. “However, ringside punch stats showed Pac landed more strikes (176 to 138) and landing more POWER punches (117 to 100). Michael Woods of ESPN stated that JMM was NOT robbed noting the CompuBox stats, all of which favored PacMan.

So, I basically just proved that PacMan won 3 out of their 4 fights. I’m a Mexican-American and I have always really liked JMM and his brother as well, so I’m being 100% honest and objective with my analysis. A juiced- to-the-gills JMM landing the luckiest shot of his career doesn’t make him a better boxer than PacMan. Not by a long shot!

And JMM knows this in his heart, otherwise he would’ve agreed to a 5th fight to settle the rivalry once and for all. I can’t even convey how disappointed I am in JMM for passing on the opportunity to even the score. That’s not how Real Mexican warriors roll. We go out on our shield like Morales — win or lose, do or die.

Posted September 18, 2013 5:39 am

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

PacMan should have 3 Wins over JMM, but doesn’t because of a negligent ERROR made by one of the judges in their first fight.

In round 1, JMM was knocked down three times by Pac. At the end of a close fight, both boxers felt they had done enough to win. The final scores were 115–110 for JMM, 115–110 for Pac and 113–113 — a Draw.

The judge who scored the bout 113–113 later admitted to making an ERROR on the scorecards, having scored the first round 10–7 instead of the standard 10–6 for a three-knockdown round. If he had scored the round correctly (10–6 for Pac, as the other two judges did), the result would have been a SD in favor of Pac, NOT a Draw. Facts.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

HappyGirl: I know more about boxing that you will in ten life times. I know that PacMan wanted a rematch with Bradley and a 5th fight with JMM. Both refused Pac’s challenges and chose to fight each other instead. FACTS!

Let’s see if Bradley finally grows the balls to rematch Pac after he fights JMM. Because everyone who knows anything about boxing admits that Pac was ROBBED vs. Bradley in one of the worst decisions in boxing history. It’s definitely NOT gonna be too late for the much-needed rematch after their next big fights.

Oops! My last post was in response to Tark’s comment: “Pacquiao had the Floyd fight in his grasp a number of times… First he didn’t do the test… Then he didn’t accept the 40 million… Then he got beat… Then he got KO’d…”

I would feel like a fool if I turned down a guaranteed $40 million for one fight. One has to wonder what the truth is behind Pacquiao’s refusal to take the fight after Mayweather made him an offer like that.

Posted September 18, 2013 1:50 am

If as they are saying Mayweather is the lineal junior middleweight champion shouldn’t he defend it against the best challengers.
He cherry picked Canello, come on Floyd call out the Kazak fighter.
Should be an easy night for you, I mean Golovkin apparently is slow, no footwork of any note and has a suspect chin, ideal for Floyd.

Remember! You take your life into your own hands, and the lives of your loved ones and pets when you enter into beaver domain without adequate beaver awareness training.

Beavers are beautiful, placid and timid creatures but on very rare occasions they can get a little cnuty if they feel threatened or you provoke them. Trust me it’d best not to do that as they can be pretty darn gone handy when agitated.

WTF is going on?? Sometimes I just don’t want to live in this crazy world?

‘An unidentified four-year-old girl in Virginia was the fourth victim in a string of rabid beaver attacks across the country.
Officials said the girl was attending a fishing competition at Hidden Pond Nature Center in Springfield when the beaver leaped out of the pond and lunged toward the girl, who narrowly escaped.
News of the incident brings the number of high-profile attacks to four, following previously reported maulings in Lake Barcroft in Fairfax County, Virginia, Lake Anna in Virginia’s Spotsylvania County and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Pennsylvania.

Judy Pedersen, spokeswoman for the Fairfax County Park Authority, told the Washington Times the beaver struck at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Several children had gathered for a fishing competition and were standing clustered on a dock.
‘There was a four-year-old girl a little bit on one side by herself,’ Ms Pedersen said. ‘The beaver got up on the dock, staggering, and jumped toward the young girl.’

The beaver did not make contact with the girl and her parents grabbed the children and took them to safety.
The beaver wandered into the nearby woods, but returned the the pond when people participating in the competition did. An animal control officer cleared the area and shot the beaver.
‘I think it was more frightening than dangerous,’ Ms Pedersen said.
‘The kids were startled. The young lady in particular was probably the most startled, and after she and her parents reconciled, they left there saying, “Boy, have we got a fishing tale to tell.”‘

The animal’s body was tested for rabies over the weekend and on Tuesday, veterinarians confirmed it carried the disease.
Last week, an 83-year-old woman was bitten by another rabid beaver while she swam in Lake Barcroft, just 11 miles away from the Nature Center on September 6.
‘A beaver pops up out of its hut and — boom — you’re in the water, he’s there sitting and staring eyeball to eyeball with you, and you never really had a chance.’
Lee Walker, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
Lillian Peterson was knocked to the ground by the beaver as she climbed out of Lake Barcroft after her nightly swim.
A 20 minute ordeal then ensued as the beaver sunk its large orange teeth into Peterson’s leg and refused to let go.
During the struggle, the beaver took a bite out of her left calf, nearly bit off her thumb, and left puncture wounds all over her arms and legs.
On August 13, a rabid beaver attacked a Boy Scout Leader at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Pennsylvania.
Normand Brousseau, 51, of Pine Plains, New York, was swimming in the river with a floating device known as a ‘noodle’ when the beaver latched onto his chest.

After being bitten and clawed at several times, Mr Brousseau was finally pulled to shore by Nick Hedges, 16, who joined his three fellow Scouts in pelting the deranged creature with stones until it died.
And on July 17, a crazed beaver attacked eight-year-old Annabella Radnovich and her 11-year-old sister, Alyssa, while they playing with their cousins at Lake Anna in Virginia’s Spotsylvania County.
Experts say that beaver attacks are extremely rare and they have not seen an increase in the number of attacks this year. On average, there are usually 50 to 60 confirmed cases of rabid beaver attacks throughout the country.

It’s too early to make an assessment of what exactly is going on,’ Ms Pedersen said. ‘It’s very unusual, but the real meaning is still to be uncovered.’
Lee Walker, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said that rabid beavers are harder to avoid.
‘A beaver pops up out of its hut and — boom — you’re in the water, he’s there sitting and staring eyeball to eyeball with you, and you never really had a chance,’ Mr Walker said to the Washington Times.’

Alot of people in here smoke way too much weed. (Public Enemy in particular) Look. Canelo lost. Does that mean he is no good? Cmon. Canelo is no hype job, he is GOOD but Mayweather is DAMN GOOD. Marquez lost to Mayweather as well does that mean he was no good? Or a hyped up fighter? THINK. Bottomline, Mayweather knows why he doesnt want to face Pacquioa. Speed and power. I dont give a rats ass about the reasons why it hasnt been signed yet. Mayweather is being called out by a good fighter and he makes excuses. He faced a middleweight but has been dodging a smaller man? Does that make any sense? ITS A LUCRATIVE fight. It NEEDS to happen.

Supreme Court aka Highest Court aka nincompoopcide

The “innocent” Public Enemy says: “at leat Pacquiao has fought the top guys”
Name a fighter who was in the top 10 p4p or top 10 ring magazine when Pac fought him?
Two exceptions: Marquez and Bradley…
He was decapitated and his face buried by Marquez
And outpointed by Bradley….
What the Pactard are doing here is sort of whining because Floyd stock value keeps soaring while Pac’s has plummeted following his beheading by Marquez.

Arum,”Hey Pac, take those tests now, NEVER will we get PAID like that off of ONE fight!….please??!!”

Why doesnt Pacroid fight Canelo!? A fight like that can answer a lot of questions. Maybe not, because Team Pac will insist on a 145lb catchweight, making sure Canelo passes out at the weigh in, while assuring “da fans an da people” a KO in the 1st round! DRUG TESTING AVOIDER Pac is in DA HOUSE!!! or should I say COURTHOUSE if he feels offended!!

ITS Really an insult to Money to be talking about a potential fight with a midget that turned down 40 MILLION DOLLARS that was not willing to take a test, YET all of a sudden needles don’t bother him now. and he is making RIOS take a test. If I was RIos I would sue PACROID. I dare you. LOL PAC SAID THAT he would only do what the Boxing Commision ask. WHY THE CHANGE OF HEART NOW PAC? RIOS should have gave the same FRAUD excuse you gave to Floyd when he asked you for a Blood test.

PACMAN is the BIGGEST FRAUD IN BOXING HISTORY. They never really wanted to fight floyd. Thats why you had all the excuses from BOB and Pac. They just wanted some attention. They needed Floyds name to sell Manny. NOW who is PAC about to fight, RIOS. RIOS? REally? LOL RIOS? THis fight is just a fight for PAC to look good in. A SLOW MOVING TARGET so he can look good, so all of his nuthuggers can be happy again. LOL Good LUCK LOL. PAC AND BOB DUCKED FLOYD>
Its amazing Pac is now ready to take blood testing. Hell he even making RIOS take one. Well here is my statement to PAC and his huggers. I THOUGHT YOU SAD THE BOXING COMMISION TESTING WAS GOOD ENOUGH! WHY ARE you MAKING OPPONENTS TAKE TESTs that you weren’t willing to take? LOL

You can’t blame Floyd for all that.

…”Canelo is just too slow and lethargic.”

Paul Williams was slow and lethargic versus Carlos Quintana the first time … You cut that much weight and you might be slow and lethargic too. Canelo looked parched, baked, and dried.

Camelo is a slow moving fighter. He is a walking punching bag but with strong punches.. Camelo’s real weakness in the fight is that he was slow, he didn’t do much, and he was not aggressive enough. I though he was gonna be as agressive as Cotto was but was dissapointed. He is just too slow and lethargic.

JMM was going for the KO and got it.. Very smart, because he would have gotten SCREWED AGAIN!!!!

And I am a true boxing fan, my knowledge is pretty extensive also. And punch stats mean nothing in the sport. There is too much human error that can occur with that since it is just 2 people pressing buttons. I guarantee you that if they reviewed the fights and actually counted the punches thrown and punches landed every fight would be wrong and way off from the true numbers

Posted September 17, 2013 9:51 pm

Once again you are wrong. Everything was signed in 2009/10. Money was agreed soon. Along with the weight, ridiculous demand of 1 mill for every pound over 147, glove size. Floyd only asked for the drug test. Actually Floyd wanted the fight at 164 but Pac said no so they settled at 147. Another demand Floyd gave into. But yes Pac came up with many excuses

Austin Trout was unbeaten and beat ATG Miguel Cotto in his previous fight.. Trout weighed 171 and was the top ranked fighter in his division..

Canelo beat Trout by UD… So he can’t be ALL hype and still be a 42-0-1 World Champion who was rated the best fighter in the world at 154… Give Floyd some credit for dominating a tough opponent… The Cinnamon Kid is no China-chinned walk-in target like Ricky Hatton.

@SRedmond: I really don’t get what fight, and punch stats you were looking at in Pacquiao VS Marquez IV… I suggest you watch the fight again, without sound and see that Pacquiao made Marquez miss more than ever and landed WAY more than in any of their previous 3 fights… It was his best showing against JMM, yet!… Even Marquez’ knockdown of Pacman in the 3rd round was more due to Pacman being off balance than because of Marquez’ punch… You see Pacman jumped right back to his feet, pissed at himself that it even happened… And Pacquiao STILL landed more punches that round and EVERY round, to include the KO round… And in the 5th round Pacquiao REALLY hurt Marquez, but Juan is a great fighter with an iron will and chin who fought through the near KO. So short of the lucky KO at literally the last second, Pacman was headed for a convincing UD!

I was really hoping Canelo had worked on his footwork… Because I felt way back when the fight was announced that although Canelo had a puncher’s chance to catch Floyd with a few good shots, maybe even a KO shot, however, I also felt that while his footwork is not exactly “slow” overall, it is slow compared to Mayweather’s… I also recall saying right here on ESB that this was why Floyd chose him to begin with… He saw Canelo might have trouble getting to him. Just like when he chose Guerrero, after Cotto spooked him a bit.

JMM DUCKED a 5th fight with PacMan — a fight for all the marbles to settle the rivalry. Just because a juiced-up JMM landed the luckiest shot of his entire career means that he’s the better fighter. Pac still leads the series 2-1-1 and that’s how it will be remembered 10-30 years from now. I can’t express how deeply disappointed I am in JMM for choosing to fight Bradley instead of accepting a 5th vs. PacMan.

JMM had a chance to even the score and prove he’s the better fighter — like a real Mexican warrior — and he ducked. Period, case closed. Time to move on the next topic…

Posted September 17, 2013 8:16 pm

Public Enemy- All busted up? Canelo has a small bruise under his eye, thats it. If anything Matthsse was all busted up. Tell you what… Canelo vs Cotto and Danny Garcia vs Mayweather. BY YOUR LOGIC anyone that loses to Floyd Mayweather is a hype job, correct? SO…….. if Danny loses to Mayweather that make him a what?….. a hype job too, right?!

Posted September 17, 2013 8:12 pm

PE- Slow down bro. Canelo is GOOD. He is NOT a hype job. Reason why he lost is because Mayweather is damn good. Ok? Canelo gained experienced and will used it to his advantage. Dont agree with me? ok. Put Canelo in the same ring against your boy Cotto. If Cotto loses to Canelo then by your logic, Cotto is a fraud and a hype job.

Posted September 17, 2013 8:09 pm

Well Pacquioa made Marquez wait too. He made him wait like a dog on a hot summer day and fed him miserable scraps at the table. Pacquioa always had a bigger share. Pacquioa didnt immediately give him rematches. Pacquioa went on to fight other fighters. So I dont see why people have a problem with Marquez enjoying his victory spoils. He hold the cards now and I say let the man do what he wants. He earned it.

1st time Marquez gets floored 3 times and nearly put out… 2nc time Marquez gets floored 1 time and makes a super close fight of it… 3rd time, Marquez keeps his butt off the canvas and most spectators think Marquez deserved the nod… 4th time???

Actaully, if you’re making fights for Pacquiao there should be a 4th time.

Posted September 17, 2013 8:02 pm

Keep It Real

Here is the problem, and I love JMM, but Pacman was gracious enough to give you THREE opportunities (when he didn’t have to) to avenge the first loss. The minute you get your win, you refuse to let him try to avenge HIS loss. That isn’t right, no matter how you slice it.

Posted September 17, 2013 7:54 pm

But hey, Maybe now Mayweather will man up and face Pacquioa. Now that he defeated a middleweight, I dont see why he would have a problem facing him now. MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIOA next. Make it happen.

Posted September 17, 2013 7:53 pm

Pacman : 2 controversial wins* (?) so perhaps DID NOT win.
Marquez: 1 clear cut not controversial win by KO!!!!
1 draw.

NO I respectfully disagree. Marquez won. Why else did 4 fights have to take place if Pacquioa really win the series? Because Pacquioa never won in a convincing manner in the eyes of the fans to begin with. The last fight WAS TO DECIDE who is the best and Marquez answered it with a brutal punch.

Posted September 17, 2013 7:51 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Pac – 2 Wins
JMM – 1 Win
1 Draw

Those are accurate outcome to three closely contested fights. So no matter what you say, PacMan won the series vs. JMM. JMM was offered a 5th fight and refused it. Facts.

Using Compubox to try and wipe the stain of that massive KO off PAC is simply Sad… He was trounced !!!! Marquez was on the top rope cheering and PAC was being rolled over with his wife inconsolable…Growup and accept the severity of his loss, and pray he rebounds

Posted September 17, 2013 7:23 pm

Not one Pac fan took up my challenge, and for squared circle. In the very first negotiations Mayweather gave in to all demands all that was left on the table was drug testing. You go ahead and let Arum continue to fool you. In my book Pacquioa is more hype than legit.

Posted September 17, 2013 7:20 pm

Canelo had the benefit of size and strength, Pacquiao has 0 advantages against Floyd especially because he cannot keep ANYONE on the canvas anymore.. I Love Manny but he’s easy work for Floyd at this point…Do we even know if PAC can rebound and impress against Rios?

Posted September 17, 2013 7:18 pm

Rem, you sound really dumb quoting punch stats when 2 punches put PAC Man on the canvas, the last one for a 45 second count… He was NOT dominating Marquez that’s just pure arguing for arguments sake.. Had he been dominating his career would not be on the line against Brandin Rios…

Posted September 17, 2013 7:16 pm

No way in hell Canelo had a better chance of beating Floyd than Pac orthodox fighter, limited footspeed Floyd would odviously rather fight Canelo than Pac everytime.

“Floyd only made one demand while they made many excuses…”

Sorry fan-boy, but FMJ made many demands and a lot of them were about money. FMJ refused a 50/50 spit, even though Pac at that time was just as big of a draw, and FMJ expected Pac to accept 0% of the PPV sales. 0% if PPV sales! That’s just plain ridiculous!

It was also FMJs endless greed that kept that fight from being made, But it was also the basless PED accusations and the fact that TEAM FMJ kept changing the testing requirements after Pac would agree to them.

FMJ recently stated to the media that he will NEVER fight Pac. Why would he say that when EVERYTHING could be re-negotiated at this point??? Because it was FMJ who doing the ducking all along, and saying he’ll never fight Pac at this point only PROVES it.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

“I could care less about punch stats.” Then you’re NOT much of a real boxing fan, BEE-J.

Pac beat JMM twice, JMM beat Pac once and one fifth was a draw. Period, end of story. Pac offered JMM a 5th fight a few months ago and JMM recently released an official statement to the media saying he’ll never fight Pac again. FACTS.

As A JMM fan I wanted to see him even the score, so I’m very disappointed in him for not showing the Mexican warrior spirit. If he can stop or beat Pac again, then prove it! Or go out on your shield like Morales — just a REAL warrior.

Posted September 17, 2013 6:53 pm

Man yeah Marquez did the impossible and knocked Pac down then out but in boxing outlanding your opponent 2/1 mostly with powershots is pure domination.

Posted September 17, 2013 6:52 pm

Actually you are wrong. Marquez outlanded Pac in there first 2 fights. Look it up. I just did

Posted September 17, 2013 6:31 pm

Old Coot, Canelo had a better chance than PAC Man who has really no advantages over Floyd at this point… Manny is simply not the slugger he used to be so there goes the power OUT the window…. Mosley, Margo, Clottey Marquez 2x and Margarito all finished standing up… Is PAC a better defender or more accurate than Floyd? Is he bigger like Canelo? To be honest it’s not a given that he gets by Brandon Rios and it will be interesting to see how he looks in that bout… Floyd just defeated a BIG YOUNG JR MW coming off the BIGGEST win of his career..Manny is facing a 140 pounder coming off a loss like him who has a TON of miles on him… If PAC cannot impress its pretty much curtains… I wish him well

Posted September 17, 2013 6:30 pm

Old Coot, Pacquiao was NOT close to “beating Marquez easily” he had been put down with ONE SHOT in the 3rd round… Sure he hurt JMM but AS USUAL he could not finish this dangerous fighter and was destroyed in the 6th round…From the moment he could not keep Marquez on the floor during their first battle all roads had been leading to that KO loss… Meanwhile Floyd would be sent to jail for facing Marquez again even if JMM knocks Bradley out cold… Their fight was that one sided…

Posted September 17, 2013 6:25 pm

Old Coot

And Marquez has only “tagged and stunned” Pacquiao like three times in four fights… Pacquiao has tagged and stunned him like 8 times!

Posted September 17, 2013 6:24 pm

Old Coot

@PEEJ: WRONG… Again… Pacquiao still had better stats in all fights… It is just that the third one was closest and arguably could have gone to Marquez… If judge Ross were involved that is. LOL!!

Posted September 17, 2013 6:23 pm

And Marquez didn’t get lucky. Marques has tagged and stunned Pac in every one of there fights: Pac has no defense. There are only so many punches a fighter can take before is chin is cracked. Pac has taken to much damage over his career especially against Marquez. Marquez mention to throw that punch. It wasn’t no accidental punch

Posted September 17, 2013 6:21 pm

@ SRedmond: Mental prep can’t always overcome sheer aggressive skill either… Case in point… Everybody thinks they can avoid getting KO’d… But sometimes a certain opponent’s sheer skill or a good shot overrules that mindset… Pacman is proof… And if Floyd fights him… He maybe as well.

Posted September 17, 2013 6:19 pm

I coul care less about punch stats. If that’s the case Marquez had better punch stats in the first 2 fights which means he should of win with your logic

Posted September 17, 2013 6:19 pm

Old Coot

@Peej: WRONG!… In their last fight Paquiao was winning a wider margin than any of their other fights… Particularly in punch stats, to include in the 3rd round, where he got knocked down, AND, to include the 6th round where Marquez really got lucky and caught Pacman with a perfect shot running in, with ONE damned second left in the round… LOL!!

Posted September 17, 2013 6:15 pm

Old Coot, the FACT is that PAC Man is not stopping anyone his KO percentage above 140 pounds is not remotely impressive ….When are you clowns gonna learn that part of Greatness is mental and physical preparation??? If you lapse in these areas then you compromise your Greatness and should be dinged for it… Saying that PAC Man “did not take Marquez nor Bradley serious” is a joke !!! Marquez had dogged him for almost 10 years and finally snuffed him out…Why do we NEVER hear “Floyd didn’t take the guy serious that’s why he lost” it’s becauses he’s a TRULY Great A Game fighter that’s comes to win everytime… PAC was badly robbed against Bradley but he still could not take him out that’s just a fact..

Posted September 17, 2013 6:13 pm

Floyd only made one demand while they made many excuses

Posted September 17, 2013 6:04 pm

Pac lost the 3rd fight against Marque but was given a gift. He was not beating Marquez easily because he had already been knocked down a couple rounds before. Pac has never been able to keep Marquez down so to say or think he was in his way to a win is ridiculous.

Posted September 17, 2013 6:04 pm

Old Coot

@Urone2: That is just it… Floyd only made these demands as a smokescreen stall tactic. And ONLY because he knows Pacman is his only REAL threat! And he will keep making even more ridiculous demands to keep avoiding him… Hell, if Pacman said I’ll do anything, Floyd will either fake injury or retire, or both.

Posted September 17, 2013 6:01 pm

Old Coot

It is rather ironic that save for Marquez, (whom Pacquiao was beating easily until the last second KO) Manny literally destroyed everyone else that Floyd just defeated, although convincingly… i.e. Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, and Mosely. But people still think Pacquiao has no chance against Floyd? Gimme a break! Floyd knows… Trust me… That is why he will continue to move the goal posts on his demands, for every Pacquiao negotiation, or just retire, rather than risk it.

Posted September 17, 2013 5:58 pm

I can’t hold back any longer, all of the Pacman fan boys. When Mayweather gave in to every demand of Arum and Pacquioa except drug testing the fight should have been made no excuses. Pacquioa fan base continued to make excuse, none are valid. The real reason they did not fight is Mayweather would come in as full welter no strings attach. Unlike all but 2 of Pacquioa opponents. People say Pacquioa is a great fighter, I’m not so sure, the catch weights that he imposed on his opponents and rumor of rehydration clauses makes his KO’s and victories questionable. Anytime Pacquioa faced an opponent that came in uninhibited he didn’tlook so stellar. The real question is what is Pacquioa, great fighter or great hype job. If you look at his opponent over the years, remove the ones that were passed their prime. Then remove the catch weights and rehydration clauses, what would you have left. So, my question again is what is Pacquioa legit or hype job. Prove either with facts.

When are you finally going to get in through your thick skull that it’s totally IRRELEVANT what boxers weigh on fights night??? The ONLY think that matters in pro boxing is if a fighter can make weight at the official weigh-ins.
Clearly, you have never boxed or wrestled, otherwise you’d accept that cutting weight and re-hydrating a MAJOR part of the sport. Stop complaining about it or find a new sport to folllow, you old b*tch.

FMJ is now the lineal, Ring Jr. MW Champion of the World, which means he must defend those 3 Major world titles against the very best who can make 154lbs ( 3G, Lara, Maravilla). IF FMJ refuses to defend those 3 major 154lbs titles, then he must VACATE like a coward.

@ SRedmond… Pacquiao was robbed against Bradley who is known for an iron chin, and Pacquiao admittedly did not take either Bradley nor Marquez as seriously because he was too caught up in his new found conversion to Islam… A venture I am now glad to see he has since given up on…. As he should have… Now he can focus on proper training again. And like I posted earlier, Pacquiao did way better against a younger version of Cotto than Floyd did. And he was winning the last fight with Marquez by a wider margin than any of their previous fights, until that lucky shot with what, like two seconds left in the sixth round? Gimme a break!!

Good maybe now that Mayweather fought a ” big ” middleweight, he can finally face his nightmare and fight ” little ” Pacquioa.

Posted September 17, 2013 5:25 pm

Floyds getting OLDER and spotting foes MORE weight Canelo 15 pounds, Ortiz 14 pounds, Cotto at least 12 pounds… But despite these differentials his defense sees him thru and prevents the type of crushing rib shots Manny absorbed against the SUPER SLOW, LEAD FOOTED Antonio Margarito…I love Manny but he seemed to lose focus on boxing and it cost him… He is NOT Mayweather who has the sport deep in his DNA due to his father and Uncles all lacing up…. Floyd can party, spend money, go to jail, take layoffs, go to court, fight the press etc and still give virtuoso performances… He is like that kid in college who goes to keg parties and starts the day with Bong Hits yet still gets a 4.0…. Mayweather is a BEAST the likes of which the GREAT Pac Man is lucky to have not encountered… Pac would be outclassed in a manner that left him questioning just how Great he really was… Marquez was very clear that Mayweather is not someone that you really want to fight and I consider Marquez 2nd best technically in the sport thats why he is still dangerous at 40….

Posted September 17, 2013 5:25 pm

Floyd fought one of the BIGGEST JR MW’s on the planet so how the hell is he “preserving himself” and why would you ding a fighter for NOT taking unnecessary abuse? Pacquiao was ALWAY a boxer who relied in part on his chin and like most it caught up with him… He was taking BIG punches at 130 from Morales, Barrera and Marquez this trend continued… Floyd Mayweather was elusive at 130, and he is elusive at 154 its NOT FMJ’s fault that Manny is not a monument to responsible defense… LONG before Pac Man was even discussed at WW Floyd Mayweather was considered one of the BEST defenders in the game… Mayweather took a few lumps against Cotto, realized thats NOT him and came back to take out Guerrero and Canelo without a SCRATCH at the age of 36…. The mans just too GREAT for Words… Besides Manny should have “preserved himself” against Marquez instead of getting his chin dented….

Posted September 17, 2013 5:19 pm

Old Coot, the Pac Man that stopped Cotto and ODH while battering Margarito is not producing the same volume.. He could NOT finish Bradley when hurt, Marquez when hurt nor even a SHOT version of Shane Mosley when hurt… Against Floyd Mayweather, Manny is not gonna get away with blindly winging shots hoping to land 1 out of 6 Floyds gonna make him pay and can do it out of range because he is just a FAST and he is LONGER and simply a sublime counterpuncher… “Manny never stops coming” he stopped coming when Marquez buried that right hand in his cranium and he almost stopped breathing to boot…. If there was a chance that Showtime and HBO could make the fight assuming Pac gets by Rios I would be all for it but the issues are too BIG and its NOT worth jacking off over…

“Gennady would fight Floyd at 154 pounds,” Golovkin’s promoter, K2’s Tom Loeffler, told on Sunday morning. “Whether it’s doable is another story.” – The other story part is no doubt the HBO/Showtime cold war. It’s a joke.

Posted September 17, 2013 5:08 pm

Floyd will never fight Golovkin, if he did he wouldn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of beating him.
Golovkin gets into the ring knowing that Mayweather can’t hurt him, but what’s more important is Mayweather knows this as well. Easy night for Golovkin, really easy.

Old Coot yeah man i knew Canelo was taylormade for Floyds style but i caught a little Canelo fever myself thinking he would press with intelligence didn’t imagine him trying to outcounter Floyd smh. Very few can match Floyds athleticism so when he avoids the one man that can how does anyone respect that smh. The problem is that isn’t a underachieving Judah or a faded Mosley there’s no advantage Floyd can exploit. No Pac fight no respect simple as that.

Posted September 17, 2013 4:14 pm

I’ve been watching Mayweather fight since the beginning. He wasn’t a ball of fire or the great puncher we were all expecting to see. The only thing he’s done is win. He reminds me of a young Larry Holmes. Nothing spectacular just keeps hitting and not get hit in return. He’s nothing short of the best fighter we’ll probably see in our lifetime and when he’s gone, everyone will finally see what a great fighter he was. It all depends on his last couple of years but as far as I can see, nobody on the horizon has a chance. As far as him ducking Pacman. The fight would of happened and maby still will, and if Manny doesn’t keep up pressure all day, Than we might see an L on his record. Other than that, he’s a sure bet for a first ballet HOF seat. Love him or hate him, he’s the best thing out their at this time, so enjoy him while you can, like Larry.

@Rem: Amen to that… Floyd only fights if he can control everything or if they have some speed deficit… Although he underestimated Cotto’s speed… And as I said in June… I would root for Canelo because he had a puncher’s chance at a KO… But I also suspected he is too flat and lead-footed to catch up with Floyd enough to do damage. Floyd knows Pacman is the only one with the ability and stamina to give him REAL Hell!

Posted September 17, 2013 3:48 pm

Hendo that was why i didn’t mention Oscar he wasn’t strong for the Pac fight but Cotto was. Cotto would’ve did the same to Floyd at ww hes not a jmw. Pac would’ve beat Cotto at 54 but im glad he didn’t fight him while Pac was fighting real wws Cotto, Clottey and Margo Floyd was fighting jww Hatton and lw Marquez preserving himself and hoping those bigger fighters would wear Pac down. Can’t respect that there’s always some gimmick with Floyd great fighter but everything is a gimmick with him.

There is no real “adjustment” for Pacman… Now of course, Floyd will counter him and make him miss plenty… But it still won’t be enough to matter because The Pac-man never stops coming, never stops punching, and never gets tired, as Oscar and Cotto did. Floyd better hope he lands a lucky Marquez punch… Which I doubt because Floyd don’t hit hard enough to KO you without breaking his hands, or unless you’re tired, OR unless he sucker punches you with your hands down, like he did Ortiz.

Posted September 17, 2013 3:16 pm

Hendo, you asked a TERRIFIC question “If Floyd is so terrible then why would guys be drooling to see him in a mismatch against a guy who is 2 divisions above where he really fights”…… It makes no sense, I seriously doubt they would give GGG much cred for beating Maidana, Marquez, Alexander or Kell Brook at 147 pushed up to 150…??? He would be considered a SCRUB for pursuing those bouts why the differentiator with Mayweather if he is NOT a GREAT fighter??? AGAIN they just want to see if a BIGGER guy can do what his peers cannot…

Floyd is being PUNISHED because he did not have to struggle or book losses to lessor fighters along the way… Andre Ward is the ONLY Elite fighter who is a 24/7 A Game fighter thus far…He won Olympic Gold and he has been FLAWLESS as a professional… Like Mayweather he is NOT a BIG puncher yet he still comes away with win after win… His hard hitting opponents are unable to use the 12 rounds to get to him because he is technically superior… Floyd has fought a TON of rounds and yet NO ONE has done a Zab Judah on him and made him dance…This is boxing mastery! Look at our present Elite Boxers all found a way to lose or be stopped BOTH Klitschkos (Wlad most notably) Martinez, Pacquiao…. Pac Man is an awesome fighter but he was BLASTED by the same Marquez that Mayweather made clear was NOT on his level… Meanwhile JMM is still campaigning at WW looking to take out Bradley at 40 after having won his career defining fight at 39…Floyd is given no credit for making a MOCKERY of JMM’s Greatness yet Pacquiao is being handled with kid gloves for badly succumbing to it…. I am a huge Pac Man fan but he is NOT Floyds equal a fight between these two today would be prohibitive in favor of Mayweather for obvious reasons….Canelo is a BIGGER puncher than Manny and he was hopeless against Floyd… When he did land it was rolled and Mayweather never showed ANY ill effect….

The flaw in you guys argument is that in order to adequately and VAINLY attempt to discredit Floyd Mayweather you are comparing him to acknowledged and inducted HOF ATG’s like Ray Leonard and Hearns… You are not even trying to use a Trinidad who was a BEAST at 147 and “technically” never lost there against him… Would be compare Andre Berto or Kell Brook to Hearns and Leonard? You are NOT even trying to discredit him using Manny Pacquiao as a yardstick and Pac Man won Fighter of the Decade during the ERA FMJ operated in… Why is this? its because ONLY the top guys in history can even begin to chip away at what Floyd Mayweather has done… And in case you guys did NOT know it Hearns, Hagler, Duran and Leonard are NOT the only Great boxers in history… There were GREATS before and there will be GREATS after… Sadly for you Floyd Mayweather is ONE of them…They accomplished some things he never did and they accomplished some things they NEVER did…Guys were calling Canelo his BIGGEST challenge and at an age when all those guys were WASHED up he just made EASY work of a guy supposedly with the YOUTH, SIZE and TOOLS to beat him… Floyd Mayweather is the BOSS of the sport and he did NOT get there overnight… LONG before there was “Money May” there was “Pretty Boy Floyd” racking up 8 defenses at 130, stopping Corrales and defeating Castillo 2x… The Mayweather story began LONG before the 40 mill paydays and stranglehold on every boxers mind from 140-168…..His excellence has persisted LONG after the Jermaine Taylors, Pavliks, Lacys and 50 other “Next Big Things” have been knocked off… Its ALL about Floyd Mayweather until the day he loses or retires as a FAN of his its been one hell of a ride he NEVER disappoints…

He spots him 13 years in a young mans game but it then becomes Mayweather picking on a boy, meanwhile Floyd bet HOFer via stoppage for his first major title… I just enjoy their frustration to be honest..!

HOT poker… Fighters are given NO chance against this NOW old man in boxing…They are either gonna be considered to young, too old, too big, too small, too light, too heavy, too strong, too weak… Results always the same 12 rounds and the SAD post fight interview saying “He was too fast, too smart and too hard to hit” rinse and repeat….

Floyd’s well preserved because he KNOWS how to fight has a commitment to training and defense… I love Ray Leonard but all of his opponents were NOT Great no fighters are or the word Great would be called average.. Leonard payed homage to Mayweathers defense he said, if I fought him I would not even go for the chin it’s impossible to catch him clean… We are discussing one of the Top 3 defensive fighters in history Cotto knocked out 30 men, Oscar 30, Shane 30, Corrales a ton Marquez, young Canelo 30, yet all these men struggled to make consistent hard contact on Floyd Mayweather… Ray Leonard and Co tool shots from LESS than Great Boxers, you wanna tell me Iran Barkley was Great when he stopped Hearns at 29? Floyds 36 years old… Terry Norris was wiping the floor with Ray at age 34 and Norris was picked because he was considered young and “Chinny” Floyds ALWAYS on his A Game and never let’s other fighters or fans dictate his approach in the ring… He’s a true General and sole commander in the Squared Circle!

Leonard took more punishment than Floyd because he was fighting truly great opponents who possessed extremely high skill levels and ability. He didn’t run away from them most of the time during those fights either like Floyd often does against nobodies. Floyd ran from Robert Guerrero like he had the lurgy. jajajaja

Mayweather can not beat Golovkin and all Mayweather fans know this. This is why they don’t want Mayweather to fight him. They choose many names but avoid Golovkin name because they know Mayweather will lose.

Fight weak chin Khan, Fight washed up Pacman, Fight old Martinez at 154, Fight everyone else, but do not mention Golovkin.

Real Mayweather fans should want him to fight best and most dangerous opponent at 154 to prove he is best, but no they look for every reason to say no to fight with Golovkin.

Mayweather scared of him.

Mayweather fans even more scared.

They know Golovkin beats Mayweather by KO very very fast.

Leonard had 150 amateur fights to Floyd’s 90. 40 pro fights to Floyd’s 45, and he burned out at a younger age because he fought and beat great great fighters and was complete coke fiend. jajajaja

Leonard broke him down and basically punched THROUGH that shoulder roll. He would’ve done the same to junior. Junior is ok,for this time given there are no really complete fighters out there on the level of a hall of famer like Ray. He is very fortunate. These young guystoday don’t possess the talent nor mental strength, nor boxing knowledge on how to tackle a fighter like him. Sure Leonard was not the same as he aged. First tough fights against your PEERS who are EQUALLY as good as you will take its toll. Second being out if the ring forvFIVE years will do a number on ANY fighter. Then shame on him, cocaine use during tjat period didn’t help his cause . With all that the man accomplised a Hell of a LPT in his career amd NO ONE questions his resume. Cheers

Pretty easy not to be taken out of your gameplan when your as good as Floyd but stick to fight dudes a notch below the top of the sport.

Posted September 17, 2013 12:03 pm

Floyd’s well preserved because he’s a cherry-picking ducker who avoids legitimate threats when they’re in their prime like the plague. Name me one great fighter he’s beaten who was in their prime. You can’t. He won’t ever dare fight one. jajajaja. He ran from great fighter Pacman like a thief in a night. That’s the primary reason he hasn’t officially lost yet, but we all know Mexican plodder four KO loss victim Castillo beat his ass in their first fight. jajajaja

The blueprint is but he won’t go near anyone who possesses the ability to implement it with a 50ft pole. That’s his greatest skill, avoiding real threats like the plague. Of course he’s going to be better preserved than fighters who got burned out fighting against testing competition and fellow greats.

Well with Leonard fighting the likes of Duran, Hearns and Haglar i wouldn’t put Floyd in that class that would be like Floyd fighting Pac and Martinez. Wow just imagine if Leonard never fought those guys hed be the goat lol.

Fighting Words, Ray Leonard is RETIRED and he was plenty washed up by Floyds age, he shows he could be drawn out of his gameplan by Duran and had his retina knocked out by Hearns… Rays easily one of the Greatest EVER but it’s Floyd Mayweathers time and at 36 he had had MORE bouts than Ray ever did, remains unbeaten and is the Top Fighter in the sport… At this age Sugar was living off his name…There is only ONE Floyd Mayweather Jr

Posted September 17, 2013 11:33 am

Personally I think Canelo is a better all around boxer than GGG… Alvarez tried to counter Mayweather and was predictably too slow but his instincts were solid… Golovkin is about 1/5 the technician that Floyd is the only rationale in the minds of the anti-Mayweather faction is ths GGG is so Big and Strong he can overwhelm Mayweather with sheer size and power… I’m sure Chavez Jr weighing 180 the night of the bout would be dangerous if he landed on a guy who’s 150…. Would any fighter mistake Chavez Jr for being more skilled than Floyd? I’m sure some of you idiots would… This get Mayweather in with a bigger boxer was just tried by Canelo and failed… You had your shot. Now you are gonna have to watch him face WW’s and end off his career… GGG is a message board star he does not even have the fan base to make this remotely attractive…

Fighting Words

It is amazing how the trainers of the fighters who challenge come up with lame fight plans while in so many words, by telling their fighter that Floyd is such a great fighter hurts their own fighter self-esteem in which makes him a defeated fighter mentally going into the rings, therefore he throw a couple punches and miss he abandon his punches to continue to land his those punches. One thing great about Pacquiao he does not abandon his punches, he keep throwing even if he misses.
If any fighter wants to know how to beat Floyd, look at Floyd Sr. and Sugar Ray Leonard fight, When Floyd Sr. got into that shoulder roll stand, Ray Leonard would push on him, throw a 3 punch combo and grab him, he would throw longer hooks instead of the short one. therefore Floyd Sr. could not counter with a right hand, because that’s the only hand he had free. Sugar Ray just made the fight look easy, he didn’t try to hurt him by trying to land a lot of punches he just took his time and pick his shots while Floyd Sr. was in that stand because Sugar Ray knew that Floyd Sr was not in the position to counter with anything meaningful, so he kept his distance and jab at home and occasionally he threw a right hand and Floyd Sr. rolled away from the right, that’s when Sugar Ray step in with the hook and then another right, Floyd Sr abandon that shoulder roll and really got his ass handed to him. The embarassment that Sugar Ray cause Floyd Sr. It is a wonder that Floyd Jr is not Sugar Ray son, I know if I was Floyd Sr. I would not want my girlfriend or wife to see that fight from what Ray Leonard was doing

Hendo Pac was far more impressive against Cotto and Hatton so weak point styles make fights. And Bradley was offered much more money to fight Pac but chose to fight Marquez for odvious reasons Pac made easy work of him. Bradley is athletic but far from a technical boxer that’s why he kept moving right into the lefthand for the first 10 rounds.

Rem – one of the reasons was Pac-man’s refusal to have random blood & urine testing!!

Posted September 17, 2013 11:19 am

At present their r isn’t a blue print to beat mayweather…. only a blue print to loose… ODH can keep giving out his how to loose against Mayweather Jr all he wants. ODH desire and fixation on wanting Maywaether to loose is just that, a desire and fixation. As for Mayweather Jr requiring bigger fighters to meet a weight limit is acceptable to me …. What’s the alternative…? He just fights at a lower weight… by the time Canelo face Mayweather he was more-or less his normal fighting weight… so where was the advantage there??

Posted September 17, 2013 11:17 am

Happyboy its funny to hear Floyd fans looking for ways to avoid Pac Floyd has a real special fanbase they justify reasons for him not to fight histories greatest champion instead of wanting to see the fight. Not the definition of a boxing fan that’s more cult follower psychology. Pacs still by far the best win Floyd can have on his resume. But Pac is still entittled to a 50/50 split ( saying different is another example of cult follower psychology) do to still being the worlds biggest megastar in boxing and that’s a fact.

Posted September 17, 2013 11:12 am

Golovkin is NOT even #7 in the World he’s NOT EVEN the top MW fighter in the World… What’s so impressive about him calling out a former 130 pound fighter? I understand he has really NO fanbase of note and needs a Mayweather to earn a big check but MW’s who chase WW’s are not well regarded… The average fan has NO clue who GGG is and likely wont EVER unless he fights a Chavez Jr or Martinez because Floyd does not fight in the MW division… Truth is you guys are overhyping Golovkin, yes he can stalk and punch but he has really not beaten anyone…Lets pretend Floyd was inclined to give him a boxing lesson, when it was over you guys would say “GGG was drained and that Floyd would not go toe to toe”… Then you would invent the next guy and the process would repeat itself..

Posted September 17, 2013 11:11 am

When are you guys gonna accept that Gameplans and Choreography were NEVER effective against Floyd Mayweather Jr during 17 years of boxing? He’s getting old so he might lose in the next couple years… But will it be because some trainer said “double jab” and “go to the body” and “pressure him”????? We have heard this all before there has been no one will his all around skill to implement the strategies… Floyd’s style would get ALOT of boxers beat up or stopped (Berto) he often fights with his hand low and stands in the pocket… But he has mastered these moves to an extent where it’s just poetry, coupled with his athletic talent… NONE of you are saying a SINGLE thing tay has not been said or tried before and he’s still 45-0

Posted September 17, 2013 11:05 am

Golovkin real number 1 in world.

Mayweather run away from him like scared rabbit.

Golovkin say he happy to fight Mayweather at 154 (Mayweather hold that belt)

But Mayweather choose easy fight so he can win again. Khan, Alexander, Martinez, take your picks Floyd beat all those fighters no problem.

But Mayweather run away from Golovkin because he know he get beat very fast.

Golovkin much to fast and strong, he beat Mayweather in less than 6 rounds.

Floyd be lucky to last that long!!

Golovkin is best in world.

Posted September 17, 2013 11:02 am

Tim Bradley stated that he would fight Pacman again and whenever… But, that’s a fight that Pacman is avoiding just for the fact that any technical boxer would beat Pacman. Let it be the winner of Garcia vs. Pacman to fight Floyd, even though none of them will beat them.

Posted September 17, 2013 10:55 am

Rem, Pacman could not find the blue print against Juan Manuel Marquez (JMM), let alone to find the blue print on JMM teacher who is Money Mayweather… Talk about fact and stop dreaming.

Cotto’s “blue print” may not have won him the fight, but at least he imposed his will and is the only fighter to bust up floyd’s face, something no other fighter has been able to do.

Posted September 17, 2013 9:16 am

SORRY ROBE, BUT I disagree with your above comment.

All these guys won several bouts after being bloodied, sometimes dropped, hurt and hammered – some like Chacon and Cooper had a reputation for being bleeders.

Just because you may get a bruised, cut or puffy face is not a necessary indicator of who wins or loses a fight. Yes, Floyd was marked up, but it was the result of a couple of well placed shots and NOT a sustained beating.

Some boxers only have to blink and it looks like they’ve done 10 with TYSON. One of the guys I regularly spar with marks up a lot and gets puffy after a session, but it’s to do more with his own genetics and physiology than me giving him a whupping, because we generally don’t go hell for leather in our spars – although we did in the last session, because he caught me a beauty after the bell and we went at it worse than that sucker who sucker-punched Floyd Snr on YOUTUBE…..

Even that was a good lesson learned: ‘Don’t fight angry!’ reason why: you make mistakes and mistakes usually get punished, severely.

Floyd as usual ruffled CANELO’S feathers and he started to get wild for a bit and then got tagged before he regained his composure…..

Floyd has been campaigning at 154 for a long time and so has GGG but GGG is apparently more feared both there and at 160

Fighters can and do get better with age when they via experience and/or steroids.

Pac vs Clottey and Pac vs Mosley were not catchweights

Posted September 17, 2013 10:00 am

GGG, GENADY GOLOVKIN, I tell u. Powerful, relentless & with stamina. He would make the kitchen very hot for FMJ. I don’t see him going anywhere near that. A faded Cotto [ never the same after the 1st Margarito fight. And remember, FMJ “retired” to avoid them at their peaks ] gave FMJ trouble. FMJ confidant, 50 Cent, himself stated that he is tired of Floyd ducking PAC, why ??? 2/3 yrs ago Pac was at his peak. He was fast, unorthodox, a southpaw & had power, stamina & was relentless. All a nightmarish combination for a PURE boxer like Floyd. Floyd is a smart operator who waits till they deteriorate just enough so that he can pad his record. Credit for taking on Canelo, but he was still very green & didn’t have the stamina to sustain anything significant.

As a reminder………… long as Floyd continues to force fighters to fight under the division limit of any weight and build an advantage for himself thereby creating a catchweight situation…..How in the world can Floyd lose? DLH, Jmm, Cotto and Canelo. But he has the audacity to talk %hit about Pac. As the so called P4p champion, he should be embarrased.

Posted September 17, 2013 9:42 am

Of course it’s obvious Floyd has no intentions of continuing to fight at 154, in fact, he never has!! He’s fought at catchweight against anyone willing to “sell” their title to him, but he is NOT a legit 154lb. That much we all know. It’s a damn shame that as a professional prize fighter Floyd’s first, second and third priorities are the purse size. Legacy takes a back seat, in fact, boxing fans are a distant 15th. So long as fans continue to pay for these type of shenanigans…floyd and people like floyd will continue to take the people that provide them their lifestyle to the cleaners. Poor Canelo…..but he shouldn’t have sold his soul to the paper champion.

Posted September 17, 2013 9:35 am

If the cameras do not show these so called other 50 things Floyd is supposedly doing in the ring…..then how can anyone attest that he’s actually doing it? Some morons go to great depths to convince themselves they see what no one else can. A-hole!

Anonymous dead on first Canelo didn’t develope the jab he needed to win or even have a chance then he tried to outbox the smaller, faster boxer whos technique is a good as anyone ever smh that wasn’t the blueprint. Again it takes a lefty to beat the guy gotta give Floyd credit really no righthanded boxer at a fair weight can beat him he’s to good at neutralizing the righthand i hope Alexander beat Kahn and gets a shot then of course we have that lil lefthanded living legend about to fight in China in 2 months.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Cottos blueprint LOST him a UD when are people gonna accept that it’s FAR EASIER said than done beating him… It’s NOT an academic exercise facing Floyd in the ring…He’s doing 50 things the cameras don’t show but the other fighter sees and has to react to… There is no Blueprint that does NOT include old age…

Posted September 17, 2013 7:43 am

We all know that Floyds NOT gonna campaign at 154 and he simply does NOT have too there is NOT a single fighter in that division with the marketability to make it worth his while.. Sure suddenly EVERY 160 pounder will claim making 154 is what they wanna do order to face an aging fighter who comes to the ring at 150 the night of the contest…Mayweathers no fool and he’s not gonna help fools speed him towards a loss against guys that are outside his division… Golovkin has a FAR better chance of moving up to face Ward and Co or cleaning up 160.. He’s NOBODY in boxing relative to Floyd Mayweather he cannot offer FMJ a single thing… Canelo just made more than 90% of boxers will make in a career…
Floyd’s not facing MW’s so Golovkin would do better to figure out how to build his own legacy without being the common Mayweather Groupie..

Posted September 17, 2013 7:40 am

Mayweather doesn’t get better with age, nor does anyone. He just seems to be coming up against opponents who disregard everything we’ve learned about Floyd’s style before. Cotto showed the blueprint for a larger, more agressive fighter to beat Floyd but he wasn’t up to the task of executing it. There is no way in hell ANY fighter, particularly one coming in 15lbs heavier is going to beat Floyd fighting on the outside. Alvarez should fire his trainer after that fight. He may not have had a chance anyway but NOBODY was going to beat Floyd with that gameplan.

Posted September 17, 2013 7:39 am

Give it a rest history is not gonna be putting GGG and Mayweather in the same sentence, depending on who he actually beats at MW history may forget GGG period… We have seen Boogeymen like him handled before when they stepped up ie John “The Beast” Mugabi who was stopped by Hagler and Terry Norris… Right now Golovkins gaudy KO record has the ill informed ready to put him in the HOF when his credentials say he’s needs some real names on that docket that reside in his division… EVERYONE wants to fight Mayweather, I saw an article where supposedly Hopkins said he can make 160 by next May and fight him (really read this) reality is that guys wanna eat off Floyds table to the detriment of commonsense neither Hops or GGG are natural competitors for Floyd Mayweather… The only fight that would be a nice victory lap is the 1million to one shot that A rehabilitated Pacquiao leaves Top Rank and they hammer out a deal… I think Manny would do a bit better than Marquez because he’s quicker bit ultimately lose WIDELY…Mayweather should consider a victory lap and then tell everyone to drop dead… The guy has nothing left to prove

Posted September 17, 2013 7:25 am

Someone was discussing Hagler and Hear a which was a brutal affair and beyond entertaining… What did that bout teach us about Tommy? That he was capable of negating his own advantages in the ring, speed, and reach and basically playing to the bigger mans (Haglers) best weapons and getting stopped cold in the 3rd… Tommy and Marvin produced a short classic but if Hearns had used his head he stood a good chance of out boxing Hagler… Would Floyd Mayweather have thoughtlessly slugged with a fighter as big and hard as Hagler? Ray Leonard knew that speed and movement were his friends but the Great Hearns showed a TON of heart and about 40% of Floyds ring IQ in that bout… Marvin Hagler was the last guy you wanna come up in weight and go blow for blow with…

In the light of people going on about who the likes of FLOYD, GGG, B-HOP, FROCH, MARAVILLA, CANELO, THE PROBLEM, SWIFT, SOG etc should be fighting and at which weight, my SOLUTION is to…….

Bring back SAME-DAY WEIGH-INS!!!!!!

We can then get these guys who deliberately fight outside of their TRUE weight class to even up the playing field by only getting 12-15 hours to re-hydrate, instead of the 24-30 plus hours we now get.

I’m sick and tired of seeing guys deliberately choose divisions they can dominate, due to outweighing their foes by up to 20lbs on fight night… In my eyes it’s tantamount to cheating and I have seen no clear medical evidence that weigh-ins a day before the bout have actually reduced the amounts of ring fatalities or serious injuries…. I actually have read of more injuries and deaths and not less over this period!!!

This way a boxer would have to choose his correct fighting division as we had back in the days of HAGLER, HEARNS, DURAN, BENITEZ and LEONARD!!!

Can you imagine how much stronger HEARNS would have been with weigh-ins 24-36 hours earlier, especially at Welterweight, instead of seeing his emaciated body going through 14 rounds of hell with SRL after he overtrained on a same-day weigh-in????

My point is that PACMAN should have fought the likes of OSCAR, COTTO, MARGARITO and CLOTTEY at the Championship stipulated weights of either 147 or 154lbs, but he would not have needed a catchweight clause as these guys would only have 12-15 hours to fully re-hydrate etc…. which would have forced them to actually fight at their correct weights in the first place.

Bring back SAME-DAY WEIGH-INS and kill the catchweight stipulations and get boxers training PROPERLY once again!!!!!!

But remember, he has all the advantages against 154 fighters since they lack the speed.” – Panamared, it’s not that he’s faster than before. It’s that Cotto and Mosley are slower than their primes and Canelo’s a big MFer, so by comparison he looks faster. I do think his timing’s just as good if not better than ever. Timing’s just as important as speed.

I’m done with The One. Was just viewing a slideshow of Hagler-Hearns. Now that was an epic showdown between true ATGs. There was one famous pic where one of Tommy’s entourage members carried him out of the ring. It was an amazing portrait of sadness and defiance.

FMJ avoided and navigated around prime talent before, during and after his two year layoff….hey, but good for him. Many boxing fans in the USA didn’t think much of Joe Calzaghe either, but he retired undefeated. And before doing so, he out boxed the “great” Roy Jones Jr, “the professer” B-Hopkins, and destroyed the “next coming” Jeff Lacey….so, let FMJ have his cake and eat it too!

When was the last time Floyd fought someone promoted by Top Rank?

Posted September 17, 2013 1:30 am

I think to beat Floyd you would need to take all of the power off of your punches and use combinations. You would have to establish what Floyd’s punching range is and stay out of that range. Only move through Floyds range to land your own punches. Make sure you out throw Floyd in any exchanges always stepping inside his best punching range. You would want get a lead early to make him come after you. But, when fighting Floyd paying attention to punching range is the most important thing. If you have an up jab that can work wonders also, use theup jab against the shoulder roll. Throw the up jab to the inside of the left shoulder so that he will roll the punch right into his own face. Like Oscar and Cotto was so successful using an up jab. Next alway stay off rrhythm while moving around the ring mix half steps, full steps and side steps. If Floyd finds your rhythm its easy money the rest of the night for him.

Good news!

Mayweather wants Canelo to fight Carlos Molina in his next undercard on Cinco de Mayo, which could either mean that Floyd is thinking of fighting a real proven fighter in Molina or to build up his conquered foe–Canelo. Either way is very interesting.

Posted September 17, 2013 12:53 am

It’s true. Mayweather won’t fight GGG. Just like he was terrified when people mentioned Paul Williams at 147. Mayweather fought Cotto and Canelo at jr middleweight. GGG says he’ll come down to 154. So why are mayweather fans saying that he shouldn’t fight middleweights? I guess there’s no logical inconsistency in saying it’s ok for mayweather to fight a blown up jr lightweight in Marquez but not GGG at 154 where mayweather is champion now. Not to mention mayweather cheated coming in overweight against marquez. Yeah that’s ok. Keep giving mayweather your money, morons.

I was always dubious about FMJ greatness but those dubious thoughts are now gone. Canelo, Gurrero, Cotto, Marquez, Hatton, Golden Boy, Baldomir, Judah, Mitchell, Gatti, Corley, Castillio …. None of these guys were chumps, tomato cans, taxi drivers etc…….They were all “A” level fighters. He made them all look like tent boxers (with the exception of Castillo), Sure he has not fought PAC for whatever reason but in no way does that diminish his accomplishments ( I would still love to see the fight, FMJ by UD)
Floyd “pretty money boy” Mayweather Jr is in my most humble opinion the best by far the best boxer of this generation and he will go down quite possibly as the best in boxing history.

Forget Pac, the man has two back to back loses and is facing another challenge ahead, he is not in the picture too much. People will keep looking for another ‘strong fighter to beat Floyd’ it just will not stop. The man is a genius lets accept and move on please. Next!

I do give Floyd a ton of credit and yes, he seems quicker and more elusive than ever before. But remember, he has all the advantages against 154 fighters since they lack the speed. The only fighter who has a chance is Manny Pac because he would at least put constant pressure on Floyd to exert energy and fight and not dictate the pace as he’s been with all fighters he handpicked. I find it amusing Floyd calling Pac the catchweight champ. Hmmm? Very hypocritical of him since he didn’t fight at 154 and had Canelo drain to What peeps need to remember is that Pac clearly beat Bradley and was winning against Marquez until he got careless. It happens when you fight someone a million times. Yes, Floyd would be favored against Pac, however, Floyd knows he would have to clearly earn the 40 million against a pressure fighter. Canelo did not put any kind of pressure or attacked the body in the first 5 rounds and that spelled trouble for himm or any fighter. Again, I give Floyd credit but he is apprehensive with Pac because of the 0 possibly being erased and he doesn’t wanna chance that regardless of Pac getting Kayoed. Floyd fought Cotto, Shane, who lost fights right? Notice how Floyd reacts when Pac is mentioned? That says it

Yes GGG vs FMJ is the fight that works. GGG has always fought blown up Welters, look at this record it is padded full with Welters and Jnr Middles. When he isn’t fighting little fellas then it is so-called contenders outside the Top 15. When they are supposed contenders its because they have been out the ring for 12 months and made a name by being KO’ed by a real champ. Yep, for sure this is the fight that GGG wants more than any. Typical fraudulent, smoke and mirror aspirations of greatness by GGG. Look at the suckers aboard that hype train. Chooooooo Choooooooo!!

Pacquaio is finished and has been for a while. He may beat Rios but it won’t be easy. Rios isn’t Mayweather (no one is). Forget anything happening between him and Mayweather. If anything, Pacquaio blew his chance to make $ thanks to Arum. Concentrate on the guys who may be, not the guy who used to be (or never was).

Peej- Floyd can’t afford to pay Pac to lose… If you have not notice Floyd’s cherry pick fights are fixed!

Posted September 16, 2013 10:51 pm

The only fight that makes any sense that would get the respect of the FM detractors is 3G at 160, no catch weight or 3G at 154. 3G is recognized as the best at 160 and a win for FM would definitely solidify his claim as the best ever, at least a more realistic argument could be made.

Old coot – mayweather v cotto scorecards were 118 – 111 and 117 – 111 twice all in favour of money, if memory serves correct. So much for the pressure. Although floyd may have been under more pressure than we were perhaps used to seeing, he still handled Miguel pretty easily. Anyway, night man. I am out. Hope to catch you on the boards later.

Truth is we will never know who is the better man when both were at their peaks. The fight should have happened and had, on paper, the potential for a great couple of fights and maybe a trilogy. We the fans are the losers, doomed now to watch a fight that is about five years too late or left to wonder and debate how great it could have been.

@ Peemaster: Floyd, couldn’t keep Cotto off him who barely touched Pacquiao… So how will he do it with Pacman? Not to mention Floyd don’t hit hard enough or throw enough punches to intimidate Pacman.

Posted September 16, 2013 10:24 pm

Old coot – you make some fair points my friend. However, as you mentioned, pac brings a full on offense, which is perfect for a good counter puncher. In my opinion, pac never won a fight against jmm, except maybe the first due to the first round knockdowns. Great fights to watch because of styles and I agree that perhaps pacs style might cause the most problems for floyd. However, that was a peak pac. The version we have seen recently is a diminished version. Simply put, he is on the down slide. Floyd looks still on top of his game. So if floyd wins, is the argument gonna be that he beat a faded pacman, and that he ducked him in his prime? Or will it be acknowledged that floyd is simply the best of this era? Somehow I think some will never give money his props. He may be odious outside the ropes but inside he is unbeatable right now. Again, it’s only my opinion

Mma fighter

Floyd fought a very good fight Canelo should have tried to ruff him up . Nobody is going to out box him .this why he doesn’t fight heavy punchers that will eat three shots to get one. Margreito PAC Sergio and gg. There is some others bradly would only have a punchers chance .margreito is done Sergio too dangours bradly may be gg may be PAC should be .we will see . Good win for mayweather good for him

Posted September 16, 2013 10:16 pm

Floyd has the power to KO Pac. Floyd would eat Pac up. Nothing Floyd likes better is an all offensive machine who jumps in with reckless abandonment and has no defense at all. Pac would of cane in as a 2 to 1 underdog like Canelo and by fight night would be 4 or 5 to 1. And of course everybody would say Pac was hand picked

@ Peemaster: Those who think Pacquiao cannot defeat Mayweather, simply because Marquez KO’d Pacquiao, but lost to Floyd, are talking apples to oranges styles… Floyd and Marquez are both mainly, “wait and see” counter punchers. The big contrast is that while Marquez and Pacquiao are both willing to take 3 shots to give 2 hard counters. Floyd hates getting hit at all… And with Pacquiao being a fervent aggressor who goes after you with great in an out and lateral footwork and agility, equal or better handspeed, and throwing punches in bunches, even when getting countered, means he doesn’t just stand there trying to hit a ghost like Canelo did… Not to mention, as I said, if a defensive genius like Floyd got bloodied by a relentless Cotto, (until he lost steam later on), then what the Hell you think will happen against an equal stamina beast like Pacquiao?… Bottom line. Not even Floyd can avoid half of Pacquiao’s punches! And if Pac decides to power shot Floyd’s only defensive weakness, –his body, we might even see Floyd drop his guard and fatigue a bit too… Now, of course if Pacman is stupid enough to stay in the middle of the ring trying to box Floyd, instead of relentlessly pursuing him, with a sharp jab to the chest and gut like Cotto did, but Canelo failed to do, then you are correct… Floyd will just counter Manny to a UD… Manny must use ALL his attributes, in particular, his double-barreled punch output and great agility to chase Floyd, eat a few good counters, but cut off the ring and attack Floyd’s body… And with Pacman throwing 80 or 90 punches per round to Floyd’s 40 to 50, even if Floyd slips 60, and lands 15 to 20, Pacman will still land 20 to 25 or more… And with Pacman’s power that will take a toll on anyone. EVEN Floyd.

Posted September 16, 2013 10:01 pm

Floyd don’t have the KO power that he use to have… I doubt if he can KO Pacman.

Posted September 16, 2013 9:46 pm

It worked for Oscar, but hasn’t worked for anybody since, maybe Cotto but these other guys have been punching bags for Floyd. They stand there without throwing anything. Canelo just wasn’t busy enough!

Posted September 16, 2013 9:46 pm

The same pac that was KNOCKED OUT COLD by a great fighter that floyd handled with ease? Fair enough for being a pac fan, but come on. If you look objectively, the most likely outcome is a floyd victory. Pac has diminished these past 24 months. Money looks as good as ever. For me, floyd wins by wide UD.

@Fighting Words: YES!!! I agree wholeheartedly!!!!… Let’s see Floyd face JMM now that his speed has caught up with all the extra muscle! When they first fought, Floyd forced Marquez to put on 10 lbs of rip in 5 weeks… Which slowed him down, all to be damned!… I’d love to see the re-match with this bigger faster Marquez. Who incidentally is better at coming forward than he was back then too.

Fighting Words

The fight that should be made is a JMM and Mayweather rematch. Mayweather cheated with the weight the 1st time. He was suppose to come in @ no more then 144, but he came in 3 lb heavier @ the weigh in and fight night he outweighted JMM by at least 15 lb and JMM had to come up 2 weight division to fight Mayweather. Now the JMM is WW, Mayweather should fight him again. But of course Mayweather will say he dominated him the 1st time and there is no need to fight him again. The fight can be made easily because JMM is not promoted by Arum,

@ Havoc: Yeah… These guys actually think that Cotto could hit Floyd but Pacman can’t LOL!!!

Posted September 16, 2013 9:24 pm

Pacquioa beats Floyd! Floyd will be reduce to running his bicycle for pacquioas throw punches in bunches from different angles which I doubt Floyd could stand still and block it. Pacquioa speed is a little bit faster than Floyd reflex. If Floyd man up and fight Pacquioa he will get beat by 12 rounds unanimous decision because Floyd defense will be reduce to running and hugging.

Posted September 16, 2013 9:18 pm

In my opinion, pac wouldn’t have beat Floyd when interest in the fight was at its absolute peak. And no way the current version of pac beats him, again in my opinion. When pac fought marquez last time, they both looked very similar in size. But when juan fought floyd, money looked physically so superior. I think people would be surprised if they eventually got in the ring how much bigger floyd would be. I think pacs in and out flurries would catch a lot of arms and shoulders, and after three rounds or so, floyd would establish that jab and negate pacs offense just as he plants his feet to throw. It would then be a classic display floyd showing how to hit and not be hit en route to another points win clinic. Just my opinion. ….

What does Tim Bradley have to do to get the obvious respect he deserves? Khan has been beaten more than egg whites headed for waffle badder so give the proper props to the most qualified undefeated 147 boxer ….. Tim will embarrass JMM and still get no respect. Nuts!

Posted September 16, 2013 9:06 pm

I’m not talking about Floyd/Pacquiao fight right now, I’ll wait until Pac/Rios fight is over, If Manny win, Floyd and Manny saga will continue, but this time people will demand that Floyd won’t refuse the match or people will call Floyd a coward for life, there’s no one out there for Floyd.

Posted September 16, 2013 8:47 pm

To claim the pac-man of yesteryear would beat Floyd is purely conjecture now. Can he beat him now? No chance sun dance! There is no one right now who can win four rounds with Floyd, let alone win a contest. There are guys that have certain individual skills that are needed but are not in possession of all the things required to do the job. Floyd has most of the facets to his skill set to be dominant for easily the next three years.

Trust me, Mayweather Senior his still hoping to keep Junior from fighting Pacquiao.

Forget trying to out box Floyd. If you can’t match speed with him, you’re in trouble. The only way you beat Floyd is to fight a Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard style in fight 1 or a Julio Cesar Chavez Sr type style. You have to have the conditioning and the mental toughness to make Floyd fight a fight that he really doesn’t do or fight. Cotto showed a glimpse of it, but Cotto was an old man. Mosely caught Floyd in close. Zab Judah had the speed, but not the heart. An old Oscar barely lost vs Floyd, but he did have a plan that was working. Castillo had the right style and was robbed. You have to nullify Floyd’s speed of hand and feet. How, stay in close and make him fight. Canelo tried boxing and out countering Floyd. Hmm….bad strategy. Box a puncher and punch a boxer. Do not let Floyd dictate the style or pace of a fight. A prime Pacquiao would have beaten Floyd because of his aggressive unorthodox style. His feints were amazing, and all of the countering Floyd does would have been thrown off by those hand and foot feints, and the southpaw style would have given him fits.

If Floyd fights and beats Pacman, even in a close fight… I will bow to his greatness!

Floyd shouldn’t be fighting over 147 eventhough he made canelo his son

Posted September 16, 2013 7:53 pm

the fights that should happen are Pacman,Bradley,Garcia and the last one is whoever he feels is worthy in no particular order but 2 of those guys are Bob arum boys so those will never surface so whoever else they can find maybe Thurman ,he’s undefeated so it makes sense….yezzir!

Forget Oscar’s blueprint. Isn’t it recognised that castillo gave Floyd the best argument so far? Lets face the facts now folks. There is nobody between 130 – 154 that can land on money regularly enough or hard enough to beat him as we speak. For sure, you have to appreciate and applaud his greatness, but it makes for completely one sided contests which to the casual boxing fans is boring. Not Floyds fault of course. He can only beat what is put in front of him. He is a fighter that makes very good fighters look ordinary. And that is an extraordinary talent allied with hard work, which makes him very special. My advice is to enjoy him while he is here, because you are gonna be arguing with your grandkids who is the better fighter when their favourites have their time. And all of us in the retirement home will be telling them young un’s about how Floyd would school their boys ass in a twelve round clinic of boxing skill.

Posted September 16, 2013 7:51 pm

I concurr, if your gonna follow anyone’s blueprint, u should look at chop chop Corley, zab, and sugar Shane round 2..
. They at least had the success of beat him for a few rounds and 2 out of the three rocked him. . But I guess they were too Latino- centric and looked at coto’s,s limited success and de la joyA’s
Low level thinking. Smh.

Oscar kept talking about how Canelo was going to beat Floyd with the jab… Floyd was expecting him to jab all night..

Floyd’s defense was built to stop the jab and the straight right. It’s a defense where you outbox people from range and beat them from the outside.

The way to beat Floyd is to quick bursts of punches like Judah threw in the first 3 rounds of their fight. You need a jab, but you need to close fast with. The straight-right left hook combination is the key. So basically nail Floyd with the jab… follow with the staight right… rip in the left hook immediately with the right hook behind it.

You have to press the action a lot more than Canelo did. There is no possible way to outbox Floyd from long range for 12 rounds. You have to be prepared for a firefight, box intelligently … and fire fast flurries and power bursts.

Canelo basically landed one good head combination and didn’t follow up.. He tried to milk that combo to the end of the round so he could take the round.. Canelo has the basic tools to do better than he did — but the De La Hoya blueprint of JAB… JAB… JAB.. held him back.. The jab is not his primarly weapon, and certainly wasn’t vs Trout.
