Lopez is a scrapper, but Canelo is too skilled and beyond his league.
Pacman and Ortiz would not want to mess with Canelo.

Weight is a huge factor.. That’s why it’s often such a big point of contention and negotiation.. If it didn’t matter everyone would fight for the same title like they do in tennis or golf… In those sports it doesn’t matter very much, but you don’t see many flyweights competing either.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve always thought Butterbean versus Broner would be a good fair fight.

Weight doesn’t beat Fighters. SKILLS do.

I think the weight is going to be an asset for Lopez he’s going to be alot stronger.

I think Canelo’s naturally bigger size will see him to victory, he needs to stop fighting lighter dudes he has got away with it too long.

Lopez needs to force the pace of the fight, Alverez likes to box his own pace I think if pushed he might tire, he dosnt like throwing lots of punches and fights in bursts, that to me says he is unsure of his own stamina, a fighter who can force him back and make him fight out of his comfort zone has the key to beat him.

Yeah, and pointy nipples aren’t going to be much of an asset against Alvarez

López has never been a speed guy either of hand or feet, so he was never going to have that advantage anyways and that means at some point he’s going to have to make a stand like he had to with Ortiz. A little bulk might let him take those hellacious body shots better and give him some leverage to try and push Canelo back a bit. I think he had no choice but to bulk up.

The weight issue is the reason the Alvarez team took this fight.. They see an easy win because Lopez is not a big money opponent who would be worth considerable risk.. A year ago at age 27, which is full maturity for most people, Lopez was fighting at super lightweight.. Now he’s competing against a kid who’s essentially a middleweight without going through a serious strength training and weight lifting program to help him maintain the weight.. Eating to gain weight doesn’t work well but this is what Roberto Duran and James Toney did with some success. Josesito will probably be overpowered and stopped, but he’s a very tough kid with a do-whatever-it-takes attitude. He’s pretty cold blooded. So I expect The Cinnamon Kid to get flustered at some point in this fight before putting Lopez away or winning a decision.

Excellent point, his speed and endurance was his best asset against Ortiz.

Josesito Lopez might be too heavy to beat Saul Alvarez tonight
