Anonymous – I respect you opinion. There is truth in what you’ve said. Im rooting for Canelo. Win or lose. If anyone can pull an upset its Canelo right now at this time. Canelo vs Ortiz, Hatton, Guerrero or even dare I say Marquez, would get beat by this young lion as he is now undefeated. Hes solid at 154lbs. Everyone here seem to base their opinion on his opponents, ok fine. Trout: Taller, good boxer, slick. Canelo beat him. Josesito Lopez beat and broke Ortiz (a Mayweather opponent) Canelo destroyed Josesito what like 4 rds.? Im saying look not at his opponents but in the manner in which HOW he beats them. Trout didnt even make Canelo break a sweat. At no point was Canelo in trouble. Shane Mosley: tough SOB. Mayweather got rocked, took him a while to figure him out. Canelo, at that time was just BARELY coming up and making his first US PPV debut in an undercard when he took on Mosley. Did pretty good for his first time against a veteran, wouldnt you agree?. He was very very green and he held his own ground against Mosley. Canelo is smart. He doesnt just go in trying to bully his opponents, he analyzes his opponents strengths and weaknesses. Every fighter has a weakness, even Mayweather.

3mosqueteras my friend. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pulling for Canelo, but he’s not ready. A questionable win over Trout that beat an old fighter in Cotto that was way past his prime and two weight divisions over his normal weight class don’t prove anything. He needs more experience with good fighters. One win over trout doesn’t do it. Believe me, I’m not a Mayweather fan, and I believe he lost to Castillo and De La Hoya, but he has to much experience and his running away from fighters inside the ring like he did vs Guerrero is a bad style for Canelo. Give Canelo 34 tough fight with top contenders than he will be ready, but not now. Floyd is going to run away all night and counter him Canelo. I hope I’m wrong and Canelo knocks him out, but it’s a tough task.

Hecdog – I know it must be frustrating for you son, I know you cant see Canelos athleticism. I know you cant see Canelos power, or his speed, or his combinations. Its must be frustrating because all you see is Floyds accomplishments like Hatton ( walking punching bag,?) Guerrero? ( 1 mode, no real threat at welter former light weight?) Ortiz( no heart/ I like to headbutt because its cool)? Marquez ( previous light weight first fight at welter, overblown, undersized and did I mention Mayweather came in HEAVIER OVER THE AGREED LIMIT)? Yet you dont rip him apart like Canelo ( even though he always makes weight ) who cares what weight he comes in on fight night? If he can make weight he can fight in that weight class. Get some fresh air, take your head out of Mayweathers as$.

Trout beat Cotto at 154lbs, Canelo beat Trout. And Cotto gave Mayweather a good fight. Simple as that. Do the math and its not that hard to see why these two needed to match up eventually.

Someone please tell me what Canelo has done. Let’s see he fought great opposition right? Trout (had nothing), Kermit Cintron (Joke), (Alfonso Gomez, joke), (Ryan Rhodes Who?), (Mathew Hilton, laughable), (Baldomir, horrible). Okay, now tell me again why Canelo deserves this fight vs Mayweather. Canelo has no business fighting Mayweather. All the fights he had to get his unbeaten padded record does nothing for him. I have no idea what he’s done and no one else can tell me what great fights he’s had or amateur titles he’s had. Simply put, this is a fight sold and marketed on a red head Mexican that is rare. And a padded record. Now tell me how Canelo deserves this?

Toosalty – next time try scoring the fight with your TV on because thats the only logical way I see you scoring it for Trout. Were u impressed by Trouts useless jabs or something? Canelo made him miss all night… robbery..haha

Hecdog says…, “Everyone already knows that Canelo should not be fighting Mayweather to begin with … He has no experience.”

Right Hecdog… no experience.. he hasn’t turned pro yet.. no 4-rounders… no 6-rounders… no 8-rounders… no 10-rounders… no 12-rounders… no-World Championship Fights… never headlined a card… has no following… there is zero demand for this fight… even before Floyd decided to accept this challenge you never saw a single article, worldwide, asking Floyd to grow a pair and fight Canelo… since Canelo has no experience and nobody ever heard about him… can’t box… can’t punch… can’t defend… can’t draw flies…

Hecdog also said.., “Guerrero will overpower Floyd and stop him.”

You sure know what you’re talking about Hecdog.

Posted July 5, 2013 6:03 pm

On point Hecdog, cant beleive I agree with you. Canelo is green as new leaves in spring Time.

Posted July 5, 2013 5:34 pm

Canelo will be tarnished because everyone already knows that he should not be fighting Mayweather to begin with. He hasn’t accomplished enough, he has no experience, and Floyd’s style is the worst of all styles to fight against the style that Canelo has. Everyone will be saying that it was all about the money. Canelo has never even defended againt or fought a legitimate top contender. Now all of a sudden he’s going to fight Mayweather? Makes no sense from a fighters stand point, but make great sense from a greedy promoters stand point. Don’t you see the the glorified media circus act GBP, Mayweather Promotions and MGM is putting together to sucker in all the Mexican fans. See all the BS that Oscar and the rest of the puppets are acting out to capture the fans money. I hope Canelo wins, but it’s not going to happen as far as I can see. I hope I’m wrong, but the vultures (Promoters) are circling their prey (fans). $65-$75 dollars for PPV? Smart fans won’t be fooled.

Toosalty – only u and the writer of the horse crap he wrote believe that. Nobody and I mean nobody thinks Trout was robbed. If Trout truly believed he got ” robbed ” he would have protested it to the boxing commision BUT he didnt. Now shut up about it.

Posted July 5, 2013 5:03 pm

The rd that Trout went down in, should have been 10/9 because Trout came back throw and landed more in that rd.

Posted July 5, 2013 3:55 pm

The writer hit the nail right on the head. This was excellent. Trout got robbed.

Posted July 5, 2013 3:52 pm

Mayweather allows Canelo to touch that jaw, Good Night “Little Floyd”.

Posted July 5, 2013 12:39 pm

Trout is still a good fighter though. Maybe got in more punches in the stats but they were softer and he didn’t win as many rounds and the rounds are what they really count. Hit some guy a thousand times in one round and win it. Lose all the other rounds by getting hit more and harder. He still winds up with more connections maybe but lost all but one round. The knock down didn’t help trout’s case either. But still he’s a good fighter who has better credentials to fight Floyd then some of his past opponents.

Posted July 5, 2013 10:03 am

Let’s be real here, a lot of the powers that be in boxing, wanted a Mayweather/Alvarez bout more than anything. It will be the richest fight in boxing history. Canelo beat Austin Trout by a very slim margin. Either Canelo or Trout would make a good fight for Mayweather. But Canelo is “The One.” He’s the one Golden Boy wants, he’s the one Showtime wants, and he’s the one Mayweather wants–for the money, of course.

I could care less abot race but i stll feel trout won

Trout was throw his flashy jabs that ” APPEARED ” to land but they didnt. Look at the fight again. Canelo was moving his head really good which showed signs of maturity. Trout was DID NOT land any significant punches. There was a guy sitting in front of me rooting for Trout and he was pissed because he wanted Trout to land ” the right ” but Canelo was making him miss.

Posted July 5, 2013 12:10 am

Canelo has a long way to go…. Doesn’t mean he can’t whip on Floyd, but what I see is his footwork and stance are going to get vastly better.. He doesn’t attack really well it’s true.. Also his body is going to get stronger and more defined.. His conditioning and control are going to get leaps and bounds better. He’s certainly not a finished product at this stage, but his style of fighting is going to be tough for Floyd.. Canelo fights within the range of his ability.. He doesn’t try to fight outside of what his mastery is right now.

One thing that will bother Floyd, Canelo’s jab is very hard to counter.. Everything he throws is hard to counter because he’s such a sharp puncher. When Trout got caught with that straight right that dropped him you didn’t see AT start a counter shot or do anything to evade the punch.. He had his eyes wide open, but the shot came so straight and true that he couldn’t avoid it.

Cotto never hit Trout with anything like that.. He did pop Floyd pretty good. I think Canelo’s reflexes are a little sharper.

Posted July 4, 2013 11:54 pm

I would say this fight exposed more issues than it proved.

Posted July 4, 2013 11:29 pm

Trut was hitting him. He may have not been hurting him but he was hitting him. If not then Canelo would not have been backing up most of the fight playing defense.

Posted July 4, 2013 10:36 pm

Bears my friend, I love boxing, and love God. I know it irks people wrong sometimes, but I have to stick to my beliefs. I know they sound crazy sometimes, but that’s just me. Nothing better than to talk boxing with people that have all kinds of views on the sport. And some are much weirder than mine. have a great 4th.

Posted July 4, 2013 10:29 pm

Canelo was pretty dominant. If u watched you saw trout couldn’t hit him. I don’t know what fight u were watching. Its not even debatable. Trout simply couldn’t hit canelo and ur giving trout enough points to win. I don’t care if writers like the guy who wrote this article think otherwise. They are not professionals paid to do this. This guy who wrote this article here is a total turd

Posted July 4, 2013 10:29 pm

Tarks right though. EVERYONE professional aroundthe sport had canelo winning and I don’t know anyone who had trout winning. People who think trout won eem like out of touch crackpots who are ruled by bias. This writer and peej.

Mayweather fears SPEEDY BOXERS. Thats why he avoided Pacquioa. If you notice all of his opponents had no speed.

Posted July 4, 2013 9:07 pm

Marks on the face of a fighter are not irrelevant but they are not everything either. We can see when we watch the fights if punches land and if they have an effect of any kind.

Posted July 4, 2013 9:05 pm

Is peej seriously still claiming trout won the fight? Wow what a dummy. Peej always gets shut down and dissapears for the night. Then tries to reference the worst boxing broadcasting crew in the world at showtime. Seriously they blow. Epix, hbo, skysports, and even nbc sports have better commentators/analysts. Trout got utterly smoked. He didn’t land sickum. If u thought helanded punches again, your blind by bias. Probably the same bias sredmond is blinded by. Lol

Posted July 4, 2013 9:02 pm

I don’t like that you can’t talk smack about the guy who wrote this article or even type his name without getting blocked. East sides been goin downhill with contributors like “this guy” and the whole your posting too fast bs. This guy is the worst riter I ver seen on here. He’s floyd sack gargler and klitschko and canelo detractor.

Posted July 4, 2013 8:52 pm

1-2, Canelo didn’t have much of a amateur background, and yes he fought professional at an early age. I want him to win, and if things play out in his favor, he can. I just see too many questions regarding what he can do. If he were to have fought a few guys like Cotto, Martinez or any of the top junior middleweights, we would have more answers. I question if it’s a good move to put him in with Floyd Maayweather right now plus lose an additional 2 pounds. He’s a big guy with big neck and shoulders, and he balloons up right after he makes weight. The additional weight is going to affect his movement when he’s trying to fight a mover like Mayweather. He’s going to have to press the action to be able to win this fight. Like I said, I want him to win, but he has to be able to put it all together against a guy that has a style that’s all wrong for Canelo. We’ll wait and see. Have a great 4th of July!

Posted July 4, 2013 8:43 pm

I could care less about marks on the face. As I have said before if that was the case the Morales has never won a fight in his life because he always looked worse than his opponents.

Posted July 4, 2013 8:27 pm

Considering all the hype that Amir Khan has received (and his performance as a pro verses that of Alvarez), this level of praise is but to be expected.

Posted July 4, 2013 8:27 pm

Wrong no it wasn’t. Even the announcers were talking about how Trout won the rest of the round.

Posted July 4, 2013 8:27 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

“Tark in that 7th round after knocking Trout down, Canelo clearly lost the rest of that round. When Trout got up he whooped Canelo that round. Yes he knocked him down but couldnt keep him down.”

Wrong… that was clearly a 10-8 round for Canelo. Trout didn’t do any whooping in that fight, as Canelo didn’t have a mark on his face.

Posted July 4, 2013 8:21 pm

This pundit says.., “The fight should have gone to Trout by a wide margin.”

Reality… Of three (3) American commentators… three (3) American ringside reporters… and three (3) judges—nobody gave the fight to Trout… Is it possible that you’re the one in Zu Zu Land???

This pundit says.., “The fight has a stink about it … two judges were giving Canelo round after round when he was getting outworked by Trout.”

Reality… You should brush up on scoring criteria. Hard work doesn’t win rounds. Clean effective punches win rounds. Saul’s punches did more damage.

This pundit says.., “Canelo has a habit of trying to steal rounds in the last 10 seconds after having done nothing for the first 2 minutes and 50 seconds.”

Reality… Like in the 7th round.??? When Canelo came out and floored Trout with a sizzling straight right that landed 10 seconds into the round???

Posted July 4, 2013 8:02 pm

Rapid I won’t argue with you having Canel win especially since you say it was a close fight. I won’t argue with a close score card in that fight. I can’t. I just thought Trout won by a round and with out the knockdown by 2 rounds. But as far as the post fight interview, I have read a couple and seen a couple where he states he thought he won but would not argue if you had Canelo winning because it was a close fight. He just had a problem with the scorecards 2 judges put up. They had those cards filled out before the fight.

Posted July 4, 2013 7:47 pm

For me the fight was Close, but Trout did not win. Doesn’t matter if you throw more if 75 percent of them miss, and most of what did land were pitty pat jabs, and your opponent lands at 42 percent, had a knock down, and had Trout hurt several times in the fight… Naw, Austin Trout said it all post fight.. ” I lost to the better man” He was alot faster, and harder to hit than I thought…

Posted July 4, 2013 7:35 pm

Hecdog…. How will losing to the best fighter in the sport “Tarnish forever” a 23 year old champion like Alverez?? No shame in losing to the best in the game!

Posted July 4, 2013 7:25 pm

The fact that he out worked Canelo. Not the same way Paulie out worked Broner. He actually was putting some power behind his shots even though he does not have enough power. He worked more of the round that Canelo. Canelo was only fighting a minute a round. Also when he was knocked down, he got up and whooped Canelo for the rest of that round. Thats why I think he won. And I am not an ignorant imbread. I know more about boxing than you. But its ok, you have to resort to insults when someone doesn’t believe in your lame comments or theories. Thats why you post under Anonymous

Posted July 4, 2013 7:09 pm

Took him to a new level? Schaefer is nothing more than a duplicate of Don King. I wonder if he’s ever gone out on a limb and tell everyone that can hear that Canelo is going to win this fight. Canelo better find a way to win or he’s going to be tarnished forever. He has a chance, but it’s slim to none. Floyd hand picked the most inexperienced champion that has no real business being here. Canelo’s wins and fights mean nothing. Just a padded record vs nobodies. He’s a big strong kid, but he has no amateur accomplishments, and a professional he’s done nothing. Jose Cotto, Lopez (midgets). Trout was never anything to begin with. What top guys did he ever beat? Smart boxing fans know this is a farce. GBP, Scaefer and Mayweather Promotiones are putting on a beautiful sucker bait for those fans that are emotionally excited over Canelo. Once again, fans thinking emotionally rather than rationally.

Posted July 4, 2013 7:08 pm

Lol… Its hilarious to hear ignorant inbreeds trying to do the math. They still believe Trout won when clearly Canelo won. Trout didnt do crap but throw his usless and inept jabs at Canelo. Meanwhile Canelo made him do the chicken dance and dropped him, so what was so special about Trouts performance exactly? What exactly did Trout do that stood out that made theses morons believe he won? Wear your helmets and try not to use up the last few remaining brain cells.

Posted July 4, 2013 6:45 pm

I believe Trout won. And he was being gracious in defeat and not crying like a lot of fighters do when the believe the won. Also Trout has said that he thought it was a close fight. He feels that he won the fight but he could see how Canelo could also have won. Read or listen to any interview after the fight. And you will clearly see or hear him say that. He also states that a Canelo win was not the problem, it was the scores of 2 of the judges that seemed to already have there score card filled out before the fight even happened.

The El Paso Fight Prophet

To all that dont know, There is not another fighter at 154 that can beat Austin Trout if his name is not Saul Alvarez. I guarantee if trout would have beat alvarez, mayweather would have stayed away from him like the plague.

Posted July 4, 2013 5:30 pm

yes it did…but, heres the thing…he did beat trout, but barely!! and although he went to a new level dnt mean you jump right to the king..he should fight softer fighters that are in the mayweather level before mayweather. i think mayweather is gonna counter canelo all nt. long..shoulda took some warm-ups first…just saying. i could be wrong and canelo mt. know something i dnt,but i dout it. its usualy mayweather who knows what most dont! many have made that mistake.
