HIDALGO, Canelo’s command of spce is what impressed me most. he was getting full extension on his punches while staying out of range of Trout who was consistently missing 3, 4, 5, 6(?!?) punches in a row. it seemed as if Canelo was leveraging the threat of his powerpunches to make Trout work (and mostly miss) every second of each round. too smart? too cute? it’s the basis for the presumed greatness of fighters like whittaker. you tell me? in any case, Trout was outboxed, outpunched, and outsmarted. he conceed as much afterwards when he gave the decision his personal seal of approval. what more does anybody need to see and hear to finally accept the legit “W” in Canelo’s favor?

“Canelo shocked us. He boxed a lot better than I thought. He moved a lot better than I thought. Not that I underestimated him, we just prepared for a totally different fighter. He was the better man. He was quicker. He was stronger. I have no excuses for tonight. He was the better man”.

Exactly, te tumbo. Trout knows better than anyone else what happened in that fight, and he did not change his stance even in the post-fight interview with Al Bernstein (not the interview in the ring). Al, Jim, Paulie, and Steve scored the fight much better than the judges did. But Canelo proved one important thing to me. He can’t swing and evade punches at the same time–at least not very often. He spent so much energy on slipping Trout’s punches that he often forgot to swing. Conversely, Trout swung all the time but he could hardly hit the broad side of the Canelo barn.

Gonzo the Dragonborn – Gonzo, Einstein, Da Vinci, Tesla, Newton, Aristotle, Shakespeare

There’s clearly a hell of a lot of people on these boards who have very pronounced Anti-Ginger agendas. This is the exact same type of crap Bob Fitzsimmons had to endure back in the day. I thought society had moved on from all that crap and we are supposed to be living in more enlightened times? Evidently not. Some of you cats really need to take a good long hard look at yourselves in the mirror and do some serious soul searching.

Canelo could not put an ancient Shane Mosley in a body bag, he sure as hell is not putting FMJ in one.. If he took those long stretches on inactivity and tried to play “the thinking mans game” with Floyd he would find himself hopelessly behind and not with Christodolo judging the bout via satellite from the asylum … Canelo showed good defense against Trout but his transitions are telegraphed that’s easy money for FMJ, Canelos youth and size are his best assets the fights gonna happen if I were Floyd it would be sooner than later, no need to turn 37… But then again if it’s anothe Cinco De Mayo, it is what it is…

Convincingly. looked like prime Duran or Pernell Whittaker out there with that punch-avoiding head movement. the “hype” may have been underestimating him all along(?). i think Canelo may be Greater than the hype.

Hildago I hear you with educated pressure, but that became nessesery as he was knackerd,he couldn’t have put it on him all fight if he wanted too.It wasn’t the worst scoring ever as there were some close rounds i admit but never a 118-109.lets be honest trout is a good honest pro but his best win was over a fading cotto, and he made last night a close fight some one with just a little bit more and on a leval playing field will beat Canelo with ease.

Even this site is in on the Canelo Hype Machine.. Not a single shot of Canelo getting cleanly hit by Trout.. not one!!! when we all know and saw Trout landing shots all night long.. Body shots, head shots upper cuts. etc etc etc.. not a single shot of Canelo getting tagged by trout not one of Canelo whilting on the Ropes tired as a Chihuahua as Trout landed shots at will…. Shameful how the Boxing Business has turned into a bunch of crooks..

The right man won…I’ve just watched the fight with no sound. I think they both fought brilliantly. When you’ve got 2 great boxers in their prime you will get a good close fight. I scored the fight to Alvarez by 2 rounds. His puncehes had more impact and Trouts punches were not accurate enough to win the rounds with their cumulative effect.

After reading some of the earlier articles I was expecting to see a robbery. I think ESB needs to review who they let write articles on this page.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

115-112 for Canelo Alvarez. Two of the judges were way off, but don’t get it twisted son. Canelo won the fight fair and square, by displaying more aggression and landing the harder shots.

“Golden boys ginger cash cow would get schooled by Floyd,if anything last night showed Canelo isn’t the super star there billing him as.”

What you fail to acknowledge, Anonymous, is that Alvarez fought a totally different fight last night, than he usually does. Even Austin Trout admitted that he and his team were wrong about Canelo. They did not expect him to fight that way. They had no answer for him. Trout said Canelo was better. Marginally, in my opinion. But I guarantee you, if Trout would have been declared the winner, there would be plenty of whining from the other side about “robbery” and “crooked.” It was a very close fight between two very closely matched boxers. But remember, “effective aggression” is needed to win a fight. Trout did not display effective aggression. He was ineffective most of the night and hardly landed any effective punches.

Not so sure he mayweather would hide from Canelo not on last nights showing,he probley make $100m in what would be a mega fight for a relatively easy nights work.

Mayweather will hide from Canelo.

Trout out boxed the over-hyped Canelo, Trout was tired n spent towards the end of the fight however Austin could not of lost any of the first 6 rds, so call the 7th 10-8 Canelo with Trout out working the Judges favourite 8+9 though activity and punches landed, without considering 10, 11 or 12 I can’t see how the corrupted judges could have gone the way they did, 118-109 (one of em) haha! Wot a joke….

what is sure indeed is that both guys would be schooled by mayweather- i dont like mayweather but u have to admit that he would beat both guys rather easily

Trout took it well,a real gent in the interview he must have known like every one else as long as Canelo was standing at the end he would get the ‘W’ no matter what,so there was no point creating about it.Golden boys ginger cash cow would get schooled by Floyd,if anything last night showed Canelo isn’t the super star there billing him as.118-109 they should at least make it look like they scored the fight on the night not in the car on the way home from Delahoyas house.

115-112 Canelo Trout himself scored it for Canelo

Sooky Sooky Trout Fans

Canelo is the true champ at 154lbs. Trout is no doubt an imposter. You can throw all the punches you want, it’s no good if they don’t land. Canelo made Trout look foolish, in fact he may have caught a cold with all the fanning Trout gave him.

114-113 for trout – canelo not enough busy in a disapppointing fight to win- open scoring is terrible idea

Posted April 21, 2013 6:20 am

Disgusting. It was all decided before even one punch was thrown. Boxing at its most fraudulent.
