If you love sitting at a red light on way to work you will love this as much. This is just big time interference with the sport. Before long we will have the Govt that is over boxing telling us who they have picked regardless of his/her record that now deserves a fight at the champ.

“Jim Lampley needs to RETIRE.” I have despised Jim Lampley ever since he first started “analyzing” and “commentating” on boxing. Lampley is a dunce. When he first started as a boxing commentator he didn’t know squat about the sport or the boxers. yet HBO left him in there. I used to get embarrassed for him because he sounded just plain stupid. Now, he’s progressed to sounding totally ridiculous. He still can’t correctly call a fight to save his soul. Plus, all his emphatic emotionalism is annoying. That’s why, for the past several years I have nicknamed him “Boom bam Pow!” Lampley. The other name I call him is seven letters long.

Jim Lampley needs to RETIRE. He is unable to accurately convey what is happening to the casual fan whiich causes confusion with the customers. According to Lampley Pacquiao blew Bradley out but the tape shows differently and SO did the Judges decision. People turned the TV off with a sour taste in their mouths when they could have SWEET taste in their mouths IF the Fight was just called accurately. ..HBO is heading down the drain FAST and their broadcast team is speeding UP the process. They call the Fights SO one sidedly that its COMICAL and EMBARRASSING. I usually just focus on the Fight MYSELF and let the broadcast team entertain ME with their off the mark comments.

boxtradamus – just being trying to be objective, but the HBO announcers complain about there not being instant replay in boxing all of the time.

instant replay will not help “maravilla” he will be KO’ed

At least Murray might get a fair shake of the stick, something I was worried he might not get that in Argentina.

It would be nice if the article or Sulaiman actually said what they would use the replay for. Probably not much more than determining how a cut was caused. I don’t think instant replay should be used much for determining whether a fighter is down or not, that’s more up to the referee. I could see a case where a fighter’s glove may or may not have touched the canvas and the referee isn’t sure – that would make sense. But it shouldn’t be used for low blows and other fouls, that’s up to the ref. Certainly the Judges should not have to wait for instant replay to determine who won a round.

They should not be able to change a slip to a knockdown. Only thing this should be used for is if there is a cut so you can determine if it was from a punch or from something else

Sorry but Lennox cut Vitali with a clean punch. It may have gotten worse from the laces but that means nothing cause it was originally cut from a clean punch. And his cut man is the one that made it worse. When he went back to the corner after that round and his cut man went to wipe the blood away he ripped the cut open even more.

MNboxingFAN – Sean

I don’t think they every should’ve reduced championship fights to 12 roungs from 15 myself and Sauliman has been criticized for being corrupt … which he is… not for reducing the number of rounds. He frequently will bend or abandon rules to let fighters who don’t deserve belts keep them… or create non sense belts which the sport doesn’t need. I’m not questioning Sauliman’s love of boxing, but I don’t think he’s making it better… and I don’t see how Instant Replay will make it any better. It’s going to make things less clear with slow motion.

What this video shows is quite typical. Marquez suffered from this sort of thing twice against Pacquaio.

as i said this is very badly needed and wouldve shown vitaly was cut when lennox used his signature holding and hitting to wrist rake/ lace vitaly and cut him. im very happy to see the wbc trying to embrace the technology and insure the integrity of the game. wbc is leading the way

Posted March 27, 2013 1:24 pm

This is great news. im glad the wbc is utilizing instant replay. we basically need a ref in the ring and one at ringside watching all camera angles and insuring the calls are being made properly. in fact i just said this yester day on the “vitaly klitschko david haye thread” on page 4 or 5.

Titopa-Exactly! Which shows that we need replay. Some guys can’t even see IF punches land in real time. IF you just listen to the commentators you’ll be BAMBOOZLED.

It’s Me, Ernie

Excellent, about time…

Boxtradamus – I agree with most of the video, except the commentators don’t have the luxury of watching the fight in slow motion.

Cheese cake in Montreal

Boxtradatard, not even on the subject…

As for the replays, about time!

They should try it next time Hopkins and Ward are “fighting”, it’ll be like a video montage of headbutts

Posted March 27, 2013 11:20 am

HBO has lost most of whatever credibility they had due to their extremely biased coverage. At least Steward would bring some reality in sometimes. Jones just throws more gas on the FIRE…MY favorite is when Jonrs says “I don’t think Marquez is going to be able to knock Pacquiao down with that right hand anymore because he’s made an adjustment”….right before Marquez knocks him out. LMFAO.

Posted March 27, 2013 11:06 am

you cant let fighters work it out themselves when a referee incorrectly rules a cut was caused by a head butt as opposed to a punch….or whether a slip should’ve been ruled a knockdown or not….thats completely out of the fighters hands…..they should use instant replay in every fight.

Posted March 27, 2013 10:47 am

I’m not into this at all.let the fighters work it out between themselves.
