Where does GGG get all that power from???

Garcia was the BEST Fighter on the night and displayed Top 10 P4P Boxing IQ and SKILL level. His timing and accuracy was EXCELLENT. He had Salido bouncing UP and down like a POGO stick. His timing on his clinches was GREAT too. But he did alot more Fighting than clinching. Congrats to Garcia! You’re one of the BEST in the Sport. You’re BETTER than Canelo.

Burgos lead Martinez around that ring as if on a leash. Martinez became little more than a prop for the resulting showcase of Burgos’ polished boxing-punching skills. the rapid-fire and frequent “Thwack!-Thwack!” of Burgos’ gloves bouncing off of Martinez’s melon, jaw, and ribs became a constant reminder of his dominance throughout the fight. Martinez remained gritty and determined but his punches were thoroughly sapped of any starch by the 10th round. a scorecard of 117-111 for Burgos is only accurate. 116-112 going the other way is shameful and inexplicable.

Golovkin and Burgos are tough fighters, but Golovkin is more well rounded. He was patient and more accurate. Burgos should hold his head high. Great fight. I look forward to seeing both of these two fight again soon.

f Mini had fought the full fight like he did the first 4 he would have won, that’s it in a nutshell ladies.

Burgos was the challenger and he never dominated the champ conclusively,he faded badly for a few rounds and that’s when the fight was lost its his own fault,Martinez was strong for the full fight like a champion and forced the action the whole time, some muppets on here must not get that aggression and initiating the action scores points and not just punches, the judges are not blind they seen Burgos taking a breather, title challengers shouldn’t be taking breathers who he think he is?champs don’t take breathers and the judges seen this, Martinez wanted it more he will KO burgos in a rematch.

Burgos got robbed, plain and simple. Rosado did just as I said he would, But he still got his butt kicked and had the fight not been stopped GGG would have stopped Rosado. Mikey was magnificent for 8 rounds. Anyone who thinks Salido was “coming on” and would have done better over the four remaining rounds is wrong. Mikey had him beaten long before the fight was stopped. Salido was taking some serious punishment. I also was disappointed that the fight was stopped, but only because I was enjoying the shellacking and boxing lesson that Garcia was giving Salido. And you’re right srminimo–brilliant strategy by Robert Garcia. “Accidental headbutt! Accidental headbutt! Accidental headbutt!”

JCB beatdown matrinez. I think he was close to stopping him, fight needs an immediate rematch in LV. And I though adelaide byrd was the worst judge in history. Now she has competition.

Burgos should have won… Rosado looked better than I thought he would and though hurt at times, he did fairly well. He needs to get that eye stitched up correctly because it shouldn’t have come apart so easily. If not, he could have seen a little better in the fight. But, he did better than I thought he would and wasn’t knocked down once. He also landed a lot of nice shots against Golovkin… Against Angulo, Rosado was knocked down three time (I think). I can understand why the fight with Garcia was stopped, but I would have liked Mikey Garcia to have protested it a little. Salido was starting to land a lot of leather on Garcia and Salido usually improves throughout a fight. Garcia was in a tricky position because he had 4 more rounds and it would have been dangerous to continue with a broken nose, but there are quite a few fighters that would have.

Martinez is a paper champ,I can believe he won then again is no surprise the Madison Square Garden was his home turf.i would imagine

how he feels know after taking all those body shots.

2 time Martinez gets a gift from the judges he clearly lost this fight anybody who knows boxing know this i am amaze how many people think that Martinez won clearly we got to many homers that don’t know boxing and 1 judge that scores fights like the amateurs no credit for body punching

te tumbo- I do think Salido was discouraged. He kept trying because that’s what he does, but you could see it in his face that he knew this was not his night early on. BTW, I think it was a brilliant move by Robert García to get the fight stopped. He had told Mikey earlier to get Salido out of there because there was no sense in keeping the fight going and risk a head butt or a cut and you could see him shouting to watch out for elbows (pretty prophetic if you ask me), so why risk the kid getting that nose damaged more or who knows what when he was clearly ahead and they had a legitimate and fair out?

IMO Garcia looked good vs ringworn Salido, but has a suspect heart, time will tell if he is another Ortiz or not, Burgos was robbed, judges continue to harm boxing, Martinez has heart but lacks conditioning and skills to be a good champion, Burgos should get rematch in Mexico, Peace

proably wasn no robbery but burgos should of won the fight he was more controlling then martinez was burgos could of made the fight even more easier if he would just stay on the outside and box the whole fight he was against the ropes to much even then he was still getting the better of martinez

The Mad Scientist

I was impress by Garcia, too bad the fight ended the way it to see GGG vs Chavez Jr next.

Listen up no robbery Martinez went to the head Burgos to body burgos backed up much of the fight were Martinez landed nice shots HBO was so biased only talking about burgos and showing his clips burgos face was bruised up burgos was good but martinez pressed and kept coming burgos was shocked that martinez fights like a mexican coming forward and brining it

I’m sure Martinez wants no part of a rematch! It’s a shame the year starts off with a robbery!

Posted January 20, 2013 2:25 pm

Burgos dominated Martinez with his boxing skills anyone that knows how to score fights knows Burgos won and should have taken the belt.

Posted January 20, 2013 1:58 pm

Mikey vs Gamboa a great idea! Mikey looks superior and I think would beat Gamboa…

Posted January 20, 2013 1:50 pm

Burgos is the true champ that fight was not even close! Damn corrupt judges!

Posted January 20, 2013 1:41 pm

The NY athletic commission just overturned the Golovikin/Rosado into a draw…….Silly Burgos, don’t he know you can’t ever beat a Puerto Rican fighter in NY? Rocky’s reminder that he lost the fight big time is when he started pissing blood from all those wicked body shots Burgos served him all night.

I thought Martinez won, Burgos faded mid fight and that’s where he lost it-rematch!!

Garcia was winning going away but considering that Salido wasn’t discouraged and typically gets stronger over 12 rounds it was a dissapointment for it to end on a technical courtesy to Garcia and what’s up with these gentlemen-fighters from Oxnard? they love to fight and live to fight another day, if you know wha i mean. anyway, that Martinez decision was yet another example of why every foreign fighter (including Burgos) have to go for the KO to avoid being robbed by American scorecards. 116-112 would’ve been generous but 116-112 going the other way is a pathetic example of criminal incompetence. 117-111 for Burgos was only accurate. that’s how much of a rip-off that scorecard was. Golovkin did look dangerous but mortal. i’d love to watch him v. Martinez at 160lbs. i’d give the edge to Martinez if he comes back fully-healed from his injury. otherwise, Time may have finally gotten a hold of Martinez.

burgos should of won against martinez he won that fight to me i hope a rematch happens but proably wont tho

Posted January 20, 2013 12:50 pm

i think mikey garcia can beat gamboa if mikey land the left hook and right hand on gamboa chin he going down but i see gamboa speed and footwork giving garcia trouble as well mikey going to have to time his speed which he can do it be a interesting fight tho

He made Salido look old overnight.

Very good, accurate piece. García reminded me a little of Alexis Arguello in there. An ice cold assassin with great fundamentals and one punch KO power. His defense was very good last night and he made Salido pay for every miss. Golovkin showed his a mortal, human being, but he also showed an incredible offensive arsenal, decent enough defense for a guy constantly on the prowl and he looks to have a solid, solid chin. Rosado should be able to go back down to 154 with his stock intact, if not better than before. He could give a lot of 154’ers trouble with his length, skill and guts.

Garcia tames Salido; Golovkin destroys brave Rosado and Martinez is lucky against Burgos
