That’s like saying shots on goal are more important than goals in soccer. Flying in with the top of the head and then throwing body shots which had little effect to Brook does not warrant the win. He simply got the game plan wrong and believed that Brook would be worn down by the body shots and be blowing like in the first Carson Jones fight.

If I took the work-rate mentality instead of effectiveness I would have El Chino defeating Money May. But I did not, and he did not, and Porter did not beat Brook. He was aggressive but entirely ineffective.

Fightfan, Thurman is not going to destroy Brook. You want to see how skilled a boxer Brook really is? By all means put him in against Keith Thurman.

Thurman sure has one ugly missus

Fightfan1, you were probably one of those who thought Porter would destroy Brook too. Thurman needs to prove himself against other top contenders before he warrants a proper title fight – i.e. not an interim one. Brook wouldn’t be the first fighter to take a voluntary as his first defence and shouldn’t be criticised for doing so. The Khan fight can’t happen until next year if it is to be in a stadium in the UK so expect at least one fight before that one.

Thurman will have to wait… First up for Brook is Khan… Next up for Brook is Floyd — if Floyd can scrape past Marcos again.

They will play it safe… way they fight Thurman next if they want to keep that belt….Thurman destroys him
