His skill ARE still raw. So what’s the problem with putting Stiverne vs Wilder together?Posted August 13, 2014 3:11 pm
I’ll tell you what. Wilder may have fought bums but he has some juice in his punch. If he lands a heavy shot flush ANYONE can go. On the other hand, Bermane Stiverne is the most solid i’ve seen outside Klitschko and Haye. Anyone that can beat the hell outta Cris Arreola like he did 2 times and stop him in the second fight is solid! The guy has a tree trunk neck and can take a huge shot, hes fast for his size and punches hard! In my own honest opinion. I say Stiverne would beat Deontay Wilder. He has better skills and a good chin with a heavy shot. Wilder has a big shot also but his skills are still raw even against lacking opposition. However, He has the height advantage and has a chance with a powerful clean shot to end it possibly. Overall, i’ll take the more polished, better skilled Bermane Stiverne to not only win but by Brutal KOPosted August 13, 2014 9:29 am

Wilder is actually a terribly poor fighter, with no chin, no balance, no footwork.
It`s painful to watch how inept he is, and really quite the damning indictment of how soft and weak Americans have become that they have to flounce this stick thin baboon around as though he is anything other than a KO waiting to happen the moment he goes in against a lower level Euro guy like Wach, Ustinov, Pulev.Posted August 11, 2014 8:33 pm
There is a SG article on the other boxing website, where they bar and exclude articles that challenge their bias, that’s pathetic.. Here is what they barred: SG is a delusional if he believes what he has written, and he has major problems with reality. This is not a stay busy fight, it is a STAY SAFE fight like the previous 30. Gavern is an over aged, overweight, out of shape, poor fighter that DW fights to pad his record. SG needs to stop putting these pathetic and primitive spins to make DW look like he is a top caliber fighter. He isn’t. He hasn’t fought a top ten contender and when he does the facade will be over and he will be exposed for what he is, a very sheltered, protected, and limited skilled fighter, who will be pathetically humiliated in the ring, and SG exposed as the idiot he is.Posted August 11, 2014 8:12 pm
He’s waiting forever for Stiverne.. This is a stay busy fight.. Contenders used to fight a bum a month waiting for a title shot in the old days.. The fight you always dreamt of is delayed or is having problems??? Stay busy.

Chisora pulls out last minute then we all get what we have been waiting for. Fury vs a big eastern euro beast “ustinov”. Fury talks more than ever and backs out at the last minute. Then he rematches chisora a man he already beat and totally ducks ustinov who would have been a real threat. Now this crap. Stiverne vs Wilder, NO!!! Wilder vs another bum. Bermane Stiverne where are you? He’s made about two press releases post his big win and hasn’t done anything else???? That guy is ripe for a bad loss sometime coming up. Guys like Stiverne NEED activity their bodies crave it. When you have that squat heavy naturally muscular powerful physique you always flourish with sustained activity. Mike Tyson was always best when fighting at least 6 times per year. Sonny Liston best when fighting multiple times per year and Samuel Peter best when fighting often and regular. Stiverne has few genuine miles on the clock, but I’ve seen him in camp with Sam Peter many times he thrives on activity. At this year he fights once a year or less, when he takes his big shot if he does he could be in for a shockPosted August 11, 2014 3:58 am
@ fake Deontay..,
Laila loves Ali… All his kids do. Most Americans do. When he passes I believe you’ll see a great outpouring of positive feelings from almost everywhere.
Ali was a genuine anti-war hero.. One of the most revered ever.. It takes a lot of guts to go up against your country when it’s wrong. Ali never wavered — and he was loved for that by millions. He was also a very gentle and kind individual, and very personable, with a great sense of humor. He was loyal to his friends and family to a fault, and that’s where a great deal of his money disappeared.
Ali certainly had his faults…maybe more than most, but people who knew him always said he was a great person who loved people. He had a great heart. He really cared about social justice, and put his livelihood on the line for the cause of peace.Posted August 11, 2014 3:36 am

Even before he took more punches to the head than are good for anyone, I question whether Ali was ever bright enough to come up with a moral position on much of anything. It seems to me that it is entirely possible that his supposed heroic act in refusing induction was the result of a fortuitous concurrence of Black Muslim rhetoric and self-interest.

Barney.., Ali was immature when he held those beliefs. So was Malcolm X. They both changed their minds later on.
There were discriminatory laws, police brutality, segregation, hatred of blacks, and political hate speech when Ali was a young man.. People who are hated, hate back.. The story of the black ants being with black ants – and red ants being with red ants – made sense to Ali.
It took Ali and Malcolm X a while to realize there were a lot of white people of good will — who treated everyone with kindness and generosity and were trying to change the laws.
When you’re excluded, segregated, and shut off as a young person, relevant facts escape you. You begin to think all white people are alike.
When Malcolm X had his epiphany the Black Muslims turned on him.
Ali admitted he was wrong, that every race has good people, and that segregation was wrong.Posted August 10, 2014 3:22 pm

Muhammad Ali on integration:
“We who follow the teachings of Elijah Muhammad (leader of the Nation of Islam) don’t want to be forced to integrate. Integration is wrong. We don’t want to live with the white man”
Muhammad Ali on intermarriage:
“No intelligent black man or black woman in his or her right black mind wants white boys and white girls coming to their homes to marry their black sons and daughters.”
Muhammad Ali on the need for a separate black homeland:
“You got the white racists who believe in separation such as I believe: One day the black people of America must go to self, clean up self, help self, do for self. I recognize [the white racists].”
“Black and white are disagreeable in peace, they can’t get along together… Worked 400 years, 16 hours a day from sun up to sun down, without a payday, that we should now be repaid. Don’t give us nuttn and give us or repay us: You got 50 states and we make up 10% of the population then divide up 10% of the land… Now that we’re no longer slaves and we can’t get along just let me go and live by myself.”Posted August 10, 2014 9:55 am

Also remember the sanitisation of Ali’s image is part of how history works. In retrospect we see it more appropriate to focus on the ling term positive effects of Ali’s life than the divisive shorter term effect of the nation of Islam. It’s why Malcolm X remains a figure of liberalism and intellectualism even though for years he associated with a cause not remembered at all for such qualities.Posted August 10, 2014 9:33 am

@Barney. Ali is not responsible for all of the brutality of the Nation of Islam. He was not a decision maker in that organisation, he was their public figure and was largely deluded and brainwashed by Elijah Muhammad who truly was a bad man. Malcolm X also at one point in his life made the mistake of believing in their cause. Your talking about someone like Ali joining the nation of Islam out of context. He was angry and confused as a young man. How could he not be? He won an olympic Gold and still couldn’t buy a hamburger in a restaurant in his hometown if run by whites. Hatred for the white race is not indicative of a necessarily hateful person if within the context of a racist system. The important point is that once he could Ali, like Malcolm X, saw the light and left the Nation of Islam. He would have liked to leave it earlier but it was like an association with gangsters you can’t just leave at will once indoctrinated, and Malcolm X was shot for it. Muhammad Ali did more for the races with his wider image than harm with his nation of Islam association. This was the first entertainment or sports public figure who was black and who broke any conformist stereotype of the good or the bad black man, of the uncle Tom the white man’s black man or the Sonny Liston, as in the Violent Native Son. For black America so see someone of their color get up and speak the way he did was immeasurable in terms of how much self belief and hope it gave them. He wasn’t just a fighter. Believe me black Christians would never have been so loving of a black Muslim, with reservations, had they not all felt the power of his influence. Africa, Asia, Europe. The whole world was touched by Ali. So as much as I abhor the Nation of Islam I don’t, and can’t, hold Ali responsible for their violence. He didn’t fully know what he was getting into before he was in too deep leaving was not an easy thing to do. For Muhammad to be defined by some of the terrible terms and remarks he made about race divide, can’t detract from the profound depth of his humanity in the wider sense of his life.Posted August 10, 2014 9:30 am
B.P. Jones: Not bad commentary Mr. Jones altho you have succeeded in sugar coating Ali and his life much like the rest of the main stream that have dealt with the subject matter before, which to be honest, is not necessarily groundbreaking or earthshaking nor especially veracious. The victims and family of those murdered during the Zebra mass murders will not necessarily be of one opinion with you on this when you recall that Ali was a member in good standing with the Nation of Islam during the time the horror of the killings was being carried out by this sick group. You mention hate. Did Ali hate? It could be said that there are boxers that have better served mankind with their behavior than Mr. Ali in or out of the box ring. A brassy, aggressive, and humiliating individual that divided rather than united people with his activities making him as notorious as he was famous. His legacy has been sanitized beyond recognition, for many of those that lived those times, Ali will never be the legendary hero that he is made to appear to be today.Posted August 10, 2014 8:29 am

Barney Ali was no joke. I know he’s elevated above what he was as a fighter because of his mythical status, and I know his teddy bear image is a creation by the media because it’s too hard to present him in primary colors for a mass audience. The genuine turmoil, controversy, and antagonistic nature of Black Muslim groups and the real story of Black civil rights muddies the waters for the average person too much. For me I wish kids were brought up more on the real history behind Ali. Every SINGLE TIME in class I tell a student that Muhammad Ali spoke at KKK rallies they just can’t believe it, but get more interested and that’s a good thing. As for his career though get real. People had never seen a HW fight like Ali did (albeit in spurts) his; foot work, hand speed, the playing to the camera, the Ali shuffle. It infuriated and intrigued in equal measure. Johnny Carson even made the joke that Ali was on a commision for supporting non violence in the sport of boxing. However, look at his accomplishments, don’t sour them because he fought too many no hopers in title defenses. NO ONE could believe what he did to Sonny Liston in the first fight. It was a bonafide miracle for large parts of the media and public. Liston was seen as an absolute monster of a boxer, and an animal who would crush the undersized Ali. His comeback win over Foreman was also seen as a miracle at the time. He made legendary fights with Fraizer and Norton that will go down in history for their entertainment value as much as anything. His win over Chuck Wepner was the inspiration for the Rocky franchise, which regrettably is what most people in the general public know boxing for. Yes he could be cruel, but he could be very human and very loving. Watch him with kids in his camp. Such a naturally giving amiable, generous human being. His dark side is hidden, but why hate a man who gave the world as much as Ali did. Watch him in some of his interviews on U.S and U.K television when not showboating a very intelligent, wise and funny human being. If you hate Ali out and out, I don’t care who you are I think there’s something genuinely wrong with you. That goes for everyone except Joe Fraizer! Boxing owes a heavy debt to Muhammad Ali so does the planet in my opinion. Never before, never again.Posted August 10, 2014 6:58 am

It’s all very well and good people saying Wilder needs rounds but who can guarantee they’ll give them to him? Fighters with punch are all going to look to be the guy who lands first. So if Stiverne ever does fight Wilder expect a much more aggressive than usual version of him. He can’t take his time like he did against Arreola. Wilder isn’t going to risk his WBC challenger status, and Gavern won’t last a damn round. The internet troll Charlie Z actually took Wilder’s flush shots better than most of his opponents lol. Why can’t the WBC order a final eliminator between Wilder and Jennings? Or is that fight a no go because they are with rival networks? I think they tried to get Wilder some rounds with Lyakhovic who gave the good version of Helenius nine tough fought rounds or something but he couldn’t last 2 minutes. People gave Chisora more credit for his controversial rip off win against Scott, in a fight he was losing, than they do to Deontay Wilder for getting rid of Scott in a single round? A round one KO over Malik Scott, a talented slick boxer, is no easy task. I truly believe no one will know if Wilder is the real article before he gets his ‘big’ fight and I also truly believe him versus Wladimir will never happen.Posted August 10, 2014 6:46 am
