Kovalev’s knockout victory secured a highly anticipated light heavyweight championship unification fight against Bernard Hopkins. Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) and Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs, 2 NC) have agreed to terms on a deal that’ll pay the legendary Hopkins two-thirds of the available purse money –

Hopkins gets two-thirds of the available purse money…………………………

should be interesting. who will be the ref. will it be lame cortes or someone competent/

Maybe after Hopkins is smashed, Stevenson will step his gutless ass up there and we’ll see a real unification fight.

Kovalev vs Alien from Blutron 86 isn’t a fight.

Crystal Ball

The old, steroid abusing, convict racist will get destroyed by the Krusher. This fight will show how pathetically weak the US society has become. This is a bridge too far, even for a boring, pitty pat, clinching, poor mans injury actor with home town ref and judges all by his side. Kovalev will still annihalate old Popkins and become a Unified Light Heaveyweight Champion of the WORLD!!!

Never thought much of Hopkins when he was beating the likes of Trinidad and DeLaHoya. He was always the bigger middleweight fighting blown-up welterweights. I never gave him much credit for those wins. But when he beat Tarver, then destroyed Kelly Pavlik I became a believer. Sure he lost to Taylor, had an ugly affair with Calzaghe and also lost to Dawson — but he’s always competitive — no one has thrashed B-Hop. And lately he’s been schooling solid, Top-10 contenders. Never mind the fact he’s doing these things to guys who could be his kids. That said, I think this time B-Hop is going to crash and burn against Kovalev. But if B-Hop doesn’t, and B-Hop gets the win — WOW! In my view he’ll be in the top 5 boxers, ever.

Keep clinging to amatuer bouts or KD’s caused by his foot getting stepped on. Kovalev is the man and the old racist pig is getting retired in November.

Muning little cock sucker, watch amateur fight of Kovalev he was KOed with one big left hand by a southpaw .
So Stevensons style would give Kovalev problems and here we saw why. Kovalev defentley showed weaknesses in this fight. Stevenson is a 50/50 fight

the moron below clings to a KD that was caused by kovalev getting his foot stepped on. you know these wiggers were excited when this happened, jumping for joy only to have their world come crashing down just 3 minutes later.

Whatever Kovalev made a mistake, the punch connected so tell me he could get up if a guy like Stevenson who hit 1000 tilmes better than the weak australien. I don’t buy on Kovalev sorry, his compatriot Artur Beterbiev is far more skilled and hit as hard, wait and see. Hopkins will frusrate him.

sean patrick harrington

coucou. He stepped on Kovs foot. Pay attention better to what actually caused the knock down kid.

P.S. And speaking of “murderous” punchers:

“Russian light heavyweight boxer Roman Simakov, who collapsed in the ring on Monday night during a title defense, died overnight of brain injuries in a Yekaterinburg hospital, an official said Thursday.

Simakov collapsed a minute into the seventh round after enduring a torrent of clubbing rights and lefts from compatriot Sergei Kovalev, falling immediately into a coma from which he never emerged, said Igor Maruzov, the general secretary of the Russian Boxing Federation.”

It’s a tragic thing indeed, but there it is.

“Against a murderous counterpuncher like Stevenson, Kovalev would lay out in the canvas”

Do you mean like Boone did to Stevenson in the 2nd round, or like Kovalev did to Boone in the 2nd round?

And who has done that to Kovalev …. let’s see. Oh yes: no one!

Don’t forget, Stevenson was *genuinely* knocked down in his last fight, and it’s Kovalev who has the 90% KO record (Stevenson’s is 80%).

Ha was nowhere to be hurt because Caparello has 0 power.

Kovalev was not knocked down, Caparello stepped on his foot, Kovalev was nowhere nearly hurt. Kovalev finished him off in the 2nd round, he destroyed him. I suspect that Kovalev will hurt Hopkins to the body. Kovalev’s trainer used to train Hopkins, so that will help. Hopkins will hold, headbutt, elbow, fall down on the canvas, fake low blows, land low blows, etc…………….but Kovalev will still break his bones. Stevenson screwed himself, he ran from Kovalev, broke an agreement to fight him then priced himself out for a Hopkins fight……

It so appears that everyone is posting too fast…………….

kovalev vs hopkins or stevenson. I think old hop might do the same thing he did to kelly pavlik. Kovalev should take stevenson who seems a bit raw and one dimensional.

Caparello had no business being in that ring tonight

Posted August 3, 2014 2:20 am

Now Kovalev vs Bopkins……….a good one.
