ROB SMITH, YOU CALL MARQUEZ WEAK FOR TAKING ALVARADO FIGHT. I SEE GAYWEATHER EVEN WEAKER WHEN HE HAS PICKED AND CHOSE EVERY OPPONENT HE HAS BEEN IN THE RING WITH AND PAID THOSE FIGHTERS NOT TO HURT HIM. YOU CAN NOT SAY HE IS THE BEST FIGHTER WHEN HE HAS AVOIDED SOME FIGHTERS AND IF YOU KNOW ABOUT BOXING, YOU KNOW WHO THERE ARE. MAYTHEATHER BOXING CAREER HAS BEEN GIVING TO HIM AND PAMPERED ALL HIS LIFE. LETS SEE HIM FIGHT PACQUIA , PROVODNIKOV, GGG, I KNOW, WE WILL NEVER SEE THAT!!!

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

I’m not sure if it’s the smartest move in the world for “Mile High” Mike to take this fight right after that tough loss to Provo. I’m sure the money is a huge factor in his decision, but it’s not good to lose back-to-back — like Rios just did. That being said… I’ll think JMM will probably win it, but I’ll be pulling for Alvarado every step of the way.

Pacquiao gets knocked out by JMM, beats fat Rios but should continue to fight and is a hero?

What am I missing here?

This is a good fight for Marquez… He still wants a WW title so he can be the first Mexican to be a 5-Division World Champion… Alvarado is not a real good boxer. He’s somebody a 41-year-old can possibly beat to put himself into position for another title fight against Porter, Maidana, or whomever.

Bottom line marquez has no belt he has to chalange a belt holder Mike Alvarado has no bel a title that a former belt holder he lost to prov and rio,
So that mean he don’t fight the winner of Bradley and PAC, no need to as PAC if he win has Marquez belt aka from Bradley the belt is a symbols of ranking, writer want people to say after PAC turn down Marquez a Marquez fight that he avoiding. Juan, no he don’t need him, unless pac a fool that p money over legacy. Then he deserve fate.

Marquez he is up there , he a better counter puncher than his PAC the belt is a symbol of ranking but he no Floyd he need a belt to retire he said I settle for a any belt , that maidana, Bradley, Floyd, porter. He turn down porter belt. Marquez problem I’s he a small guy and said he can’t fight over lb 145 or he gets slower. manny catch weight last fight 144lb a stupid gift.

correction: Marquez is a much much bigger star, and he is boxing’s “Champion of the Decade”. Manny* is damaged good and no longer matters. fight-fans realize that he’s always been a carefully-managed promotional hype-job who won’t agree to stricter anti-doping protocols. Adios Manny*! you tarnished yourself and the sport of boxing for good. Marquez is Greater. Viva Marquez!

Juan “DINAMITA” Marquez continues to contend and challenge for titles. if only this ring-warrior could bottle the fighting-spirit that he’s on. a prime Bradley barely defeated him on scorecards in a bout that was more accurately a Draw. meanwhile, Pacquiao* once again sabotaged a redemption bout by haggling over location and pricing himself out of that matchup. typical pok-pok-pok-PACquiao* avoidance of Marquez. Sorry Napman*, you got CRACKED and DROPPED like a sack of sh@t. you need to get back at the end of the line. aside from erasing Pacquiao* from P4P lists, Marquez is renowned for his legendary focus and dedication to the sport. we all know how he was robbed by the scorecards in every bout v. Pacquiao*. resulting in “Dinamita’s” publicly-declared fight-plan to score the “desired result” with a rivalry-ending KO of Pacquiao*. he also publicly-challenged Pacquiao* to stricter testing by declaring “I will take any test, any time. i have nothing to hide”. something that Pacquiao* has never had the integrity to state. we also saw the excellent results of Heredia’s state-of-the-art conditioning program, which was commended and highly-praised by Pacquiao’s* trainer Ariza who also stated that Pacquiao* no longer train as hard as Marquez. resulting in Pacquiao* being DEMOLISHED by a 39-year-old Marquez. no need to wonder how or why. after all, all Marquez did was KTFO of a fellow featherweight. Marquez is an active HOFr and ATG legend. he is a torpedo who sees his peers as stepping-stones to additional ring-greatness. Marquez has earned glorious retirement. he chased Pacquiao* up three (seven?) weight-classes and took a page out of Pacquiao’s* quotebook by actually scoring the rivalry-ending KO to “answer all of the questions and remove all doubt” . Manny* is a much much bigger star, and he is boxing’s most important boxer of the last decade. Marquez is damaged good and no longer matters. Fight-fans realize that he’s always been a carefully-managed promotional hype-job who won’t agree to stricter anti-doping protocols. Adios Manny!. you tarnished yourself and the sport of boxing for good. Marquez is Greater. Viva Marquez!

Didn’t like this article. Slating Marquez isn’t really on. He wants to be a 4 division champ, a legit champ. Fair play to him. He has enough power to KO Alvarado and Provo. He struggles against movement.

Im gonna put my opinion on Marquez and PEDS aside for a moment. My opinion is that even though Marquez has been able to fight the great Manny Pac competitively he simply doesn’t have the physical tools to campaign at ww. I see Alvarado giving Marquez alot of problems with his size and ability to box from the outside. I think we’re gonna hear Marquez wine about being robbed again.

Juan Manuel “PEDMAN” Marquez is still hanging around? Thi guy has to get off whatever he’s on. Bradley beat him up, he wanted nothing to do with Manny Pacquiao and now he think he desrves a shot at the winner of Pacquiao and Bradley? Sorry Ped Man, you lost and you need to get in line. Marquez as is well know throughout the boxing world is the biggest cry baby in sports. We all know how he lost and complained about how he’s been robbed in Las Vegas 6 times. We know he’s told the world over and over again that he will never fight Manny again because as he puts it “I like this feeling.” He’s the ame guy that hired Angel hereida, well known Ped Supplier to the USA Olympic Track and Field Team. We all saw how marquez looked like a muscle bound Silver back gorilla, and after the fight looked old, shriveled up like he had aged over night. I wonder why?????? Marquez is nothing today. He is a spoiled crybaby that is jealous and envious of the fighters in the world, and specifically degrades Canelo Alvarez becaause canelo is Mexico’s new hope and adored boxing champion. Marquez went from drinking his own urine to concocting a new mix of something with Hereida. This guy needs to retire. He was beaten by the great Manny Pacquiao 3 times, and the 4th bout has so much controversy that no one really cares. Manny is a much much bigger star, and he is boxing’s most important boxer of the last decade. Marquez is under so much scrutiny, and he no longer matters. Fans have labeled hi a cheater and a whiner. Good bye Marquez. You tarnished yourself and the sport of boxing for good. Manny is the best!

What bull s%#t the winner of this fight is noy obligated to fight the winner of the Bradley and PAC fight. Stop making thing up. Bradley took Marquez belt away and who the heck is Mike Alvarado?
A non belt holder, a last choice pick, if Marquez fought Shawn porter a 147 lb belt holder who said yes I give you a fight, and Marquez skip him.

If he won over a belt holder then he legible for a return shop at the 2 top title the winner of Bradley and PAC. Writer is a Marquez fan who want the public to say after manny is avoiding Marquez if he win. Manny don’t need a win over Marquez to be the 1 challenger to Floyd if he has Marquez belt aka Bradley

Posted March 14, 2014 2:04 pm

TUMBO Q-VO!! In all honesty Marquez has nothing more to prove. He can turn down fights, whether lucrative or not so ones, on his way to a fourth title. Opinions are like butt holes, everybody has one. Yep, that would put the old proverbial ‘Icing on the cake’. To some degree it’s similar to Cotto’s quest to obtain a 4th divisional title. Honestly, as I once expressed before, I would’ve preferred a Marquez vs Maidana fight, but these ‘Promoters/Networks Wars” are depriving us/me of the most desired fights. Say what they might about the King vs Arum vs Duva days BUT… at least they got together and the most coveted fight happened! PAZ carnal!!

Posted March 14, 2014 1:12 pm

Fight Aficionado – He didn’t want the Pac fight cause there was NOTHING for him but $$, he took the Bradley fight instead cause of the 147lb title, that’s what he’s after, now that a guarantee shot at the winner (Pac/Bradley) is there if he beats Alvarado, why not fight Alvarado? He’ll gladly fight Pacquiao again if Pacquiao is in possession of that title he wants. That’s the thing, the title, that’s what he wants.

Posted March 14, 2014 1:03 pm

Marquez chasing another title is not necessary, he’s already an ATG…..he’s really no more than a lightweight in stature….Alvarado is a dangerous opponent (as so are many other wwts) at this stage of Marquez’s career….

Posted March 14, 2014 12:59 pm

Fight Aficionado

Pretty good fight but how many millions of dollars less is Marquez getting paid than he would have taking the Pacquiao fight? This is the same guy who fought in Indonesia for $30K when he lost his belt at 130. No business savvy.

It looks like Bob Arum is trying to step up his game vs. Golden Boy promotions. However, there’s only 1 problem with this…. Provo should be in Mike’s spot. Mike Alvarado is a decent fighter but, Provo is a beast who could do very well against Marquez. This JMM vs MA fight is lacking. It;s a gimme fight for Marquez. If the Mike Alvarado who fought Rios shows up, he could win. It’s a stretch… but this is boxing and anything could happen.

Posted March 14, 2014 12:47 pm

Titopa

Meant if you win, you just win and that’s pretty much it.

Posted March 14, 2014 11:55 am

Titopa

Any fool would choose Alvarado if that means you’ll get the Bradley/Pac winner if you beat him…that’s the goal, rather than fight Provo (a tough guy) and if you lose, well, you just lose.

Posted March 14, 2014 11:51 am

Titopa

Sant Flores – Marquez is a future hall of fame fighter, he’s done a lot in the sport and while guys were running from Pacquiao cause he was walking through guys, Marquez CHASED him UP divisions…Marquez has NEVER ducked anyone, even now, in no way is he “ducking” Provo, the point here is that Marquez wants that 4th division title, a fight with Provo does not guarantee a shot at the Bradley/Pac winner, THIS fight (vs Alvarado) does….so, I don’t blame Marquez for taking it, plus, Provo is a 140lb titlist, that title isn’t on Marquez’s mind, the 147lb title is.

Posted March 14, 2014 11:48 am

Popkins

Alvarado is on a par with Rios, although I don’t expect Marquez to look as spectacular as Pacman did in beating Brandon. JMM should win a tough points decision. Bradley would beat Juan again. Provodnikov would be too big for him. Garcia would surely be too much for him now as well. JMM has always had a style that causes Pacman problems. I think Manny is the only elite level fighter that Marquez is now capable of looking good against.

Posted March 14, 2014 11:28 am

te tumbo

Yep. Marquez really wants that fourth belt. otherwise, he should’ve retired but there is simply no discouraging Marquez on a self-declared mission. just ask Napman* who as far as Marquez is now concerned, is just another potential steppingstone to completing his new mission.
