People are a bit harsh on Ortiz. No, he isn’t one of the all time greats, but he was in some great fights. The fights with Berto, Maidana, and Lopez were tremendous action fights. Ortiz gives the fans action; no clinching, no running. It’s an all or nothing style that sometimes comes up empty, but more fan friendly than a run and clinch chess match.Posted February 3, 2014 9:03 am
Puto Ortiz!Posted February 3, 2014 12:12 am
To el chapo ,, i wouldn’t mention anything about quitting ,,considering that the Puerto Rican fighters are the ones that are always quitting . don’t you remember Miguel Cotto quitting against Margarito and Calderone quitting twice against G. Segura ,, and Rocky Martinez quitting against Mikey Garcia ,,The only true warrior that Puerto Rico has and i’m being honest here is Juan Manuel Lopez ,this guy won’t quit for anything ,,unlike Cotto and Calderone who take a knee to avoid punishment .Posted February 2, 2014 11:52 pm
Knocked him out of the Championship ranks forever TOO.Posted February 2, 2014 8:57 pm
Yup. Floyd SHATTERED his punch resistance.Posted February 2, 2014 8:56 pm
tark – Maidana turned Victor into an Oscar delahoya aka a quitter, but didn’t knock him senseless as Floyd and Collazo did. Basically he made Victor quit, as el chihuawa did against Lara and delafishnets did against Hopkins.Posted February 2, 2014 6:34 pm
…., “After Floyd that Ortiz chin became of glass”
GTFOOH… Maidana made him quit LOOONG before that — and VO lost another fight because of flagrant fouling… He was DQ’d.
…. “Ortiz had a Hell of a run” … His entire run was beating Andre Berto.. I believe they stopped handing out Floyd fights for beating that guy… Otherwise Soto-Karrass would be the next in line for the lottery.Posted February 2, 2014 4:43 pm
Collazo is a real talent: good movement, balance, defense and is calm in the ring which is a sign of a confident and true professional. I have to say, though, that Thurman is a real good fighter who’s just coming of age. Collazo has earned the right to a nice payday without having to prove himself against these young tigers. He deserves better after all he’s accomplished than a high risk/low reward fight as Thurman would provide.Posted February 2, 2014 4:35 pm
Yes, these little impersonators don’t even have the cojones to use their own name. BTW, when I say “little”, I mean that literally! LOL! Seriously, I went to a Mexican quinceanera this weekend, and the entertainment was a midget tossing competition. Weird thing about it is that you couldn’t tell the midgets from the spectators. Anyways, I got third place.Posted February 2, 2014 4:30 pm

I did see the fight, but as the writer stated, this was an incredibly stupid fight for Ortiz to take. As young as he is he should have taken a slow and deliberate path to rebuild his confidence.
All anyone has to do was watch the tape of Collazo and Hatton to know to stay away from this guy.Posted February 2, 2014 11:50 am
I’ve had my share of impersonators as well. Water under the bridge!!!Posted February 2, 2014 11:18 am
Messyhow – first idiot, Mayweather/Canelo was not carried by Canelo. It was carried by BOTH, mostly Mayweather. Second, Chavez Jr is no PPV star. If you think so, then you’re an even bigger imbecile than what you seem like every time you post. Seriously, READ before addressing my post or THINK before typing. That’s keep fighting the good fight.Posted February 2, 2014 10:31 am
To Collazo, stay in the gym and working hard. You made a statement Thursday night, that your still here. Your back on the radar, now it’s up to a good team to work on your behalf to get you the next fight. You have lots of people who know your struggle in boxing, we are cheering for you big fella, keeping fight the good fight.Posted February 2, 2014 10:29 am
Ortiz got hit with a good shot, I don’t think he ment to turn his back, I think he was just trying to stay up a bit but was out of it. He did not know what was going on when the ref counted. He looked like all the energy was zapped out of him.Posted February 2, 2014 10:26 am
Hidalgo, I wasn’t talking about Floyd. Me and you already disagree on it but you know what I mean by title shot. He does not deserve the championship fight but he deserves a title shot.Posted February 2, 2014 10:25 am
Tark – on top of that, VO just sat down and held the ropes. I’m not denying he was rocked or woozy, but he made no effort to get up. He’s done. No doubt about it. He had a hell of a run, but it’s over.Posted February 2, 2014 8:56 am
Agreed…Posted February 2, 2014 5:47 am
The photo says it all… VO is the most amateurish world champ in history
A veteran boxer doesn’t turn his back on his opponent when he gets hit with a great shot.. Even 4-round fighters don’t do that.. You clinch.
Floyd got hit with 2 terrific 2nd round shots by Shane Mosley.
You don’t turn your back like a sub-novice… You throw on a clinch… You’re right… Who TF is training Victor Ortiz???Posted February 1, 2014 11:32 pm
Good win by Collazo the other night .. but who in the heck was training Victor Ortiz ,,Ortiz looked terrible in there ,,he didn’t throw any jabs at all to set up his power punches . Ortiz was rushing in there and trying to end it with one punch . ,Ortiz got rocked by a left hand by Collazo early in the second round and right there i knew Victor wanted to quit .. when he got stun by the right hook and went down it almost seem like he could get up but didn’t want to .Posted February 1, 2014 9:29 pm
The Facts !
We will soon find out this year ,who the star of PPV events will be besides Pacquiao and Mayweather ..will it be Canelo or Cotto ..who will due better in the PPV buys . Canelo vs Angulo or Cotto vs Martinez ..Posted February 1, 2014 8:10 pm
The Facts !
I don’t know if the record of the PPV event between Mayweather vs Canelo was due to Matthysse vs Garcia fight , i was at a big party for that fight and the only one interest in the Matthysse vs Garcia fight was me . You would only tell if and when Matthysse and Garcia fight again and if Golden Boy Promotions puts it on PPV .Posted February 1, 2014 7:49 pm
That pic tells it all. I was laughing at Ortiz earlier but at the same time he’s human. It’s sad to see a fighter turn his back when he’s supposed to have that impulse turned off through years of disciplining the mind. He’s just not a fighter. Time to get out.Posted February 1, 2014 5:36 pm
Ortiz had a solid run. He beat Berto, held a world title, and is now on the slide. It happens. I wish him well an hope he has managed his money well.Posted February 1, 2014 5:31 pm
Public Enemy: I think that is very true; the only reason I went out of my way to watch it was for the Garicia-Mattthyse fight. That was a must watch fight.Posted February 1, 2014 5:14 pm

I can’t get over how the Puerto Rican people are so jealous of the Mexican fighters . Just look at how that moron ( PUBLIC ENEMY ) acts ..When Mexican fighters beat a Puerto Rican fighter ,,PUBLIC ENEMY and others like him have excuses as to why the Puerto Rican fighter lost ..According to them the Mexican fighters are cheats . “Floyd beat the Championship version of him. The others DIDN’T.”
Floyd could have killed Victor with his dangerous sucker punching. But at the very least he ruined Victor as a boxer. So if you want to laud Jr. for that go ahead.Posted February 1, 2014 2:16 pm

Collazo would give a good show of himself against anybody. Hes a very strong fighter. I dont mean strong as in KO’s but he doesnt get pushed around in there and can really mix it up in the trenches as well as being able to take a good shot. Some are kind of bashing Lou for calling out FMJ but hey I cant blame him why not? I would call out FMJ now and Im not a boxer!!!$$$!!! Obviously I think FMJ would outclass him but against anyone else I think his chances are pretty dam good. I heard talks of Collazo vs Danny Garcia. Does anyone know if theres any truth to this?Posted February 1, 2014 8:57 am
haha to Victor he took Collazo lightlyPosted February 1, 2014 6:12 am
Taking into consideration that Hatton got a flash knock down in the first which gave him a 10/8 round I would have otherwise scored the fight a draw. Kudos to Callazo for the way he fought in that fight as I felt after Hatton started strong Callzao made the adjustments in the middle of the fight to turn the fight round and pretty much had Hattons number towards the end of the fight.Posted February 1, 2014 5:40 am
A lot of fantasy stuff going on here regarding Hatton and Callazo. I’m pretty neutral when it comes to Hatton and have no bias towards Callazo either but I scored the fight to Hatton by one round. Two judges on the night scored it to Hatton by two rounds and the other by one, so it seems that me and the three qualified judges were on the same page with this one. Some rounds were close and Callazo definately had his moments in the fight. I could see and accept someone scoring the fight to Callzao by a round or two as, as Ive said some round were close to call. But there was no way this was ever a robbery as some have suggested. It was a close fight which could have gone either way but at the end of the day all three judges had the fight scored about the same so you cant moan too much.Posted February 1, 2014 5:37 am

Floyd beat the Championship version of him. The others DIDN’T.Posted February 1, 2014 3:12 am
Ortiz got his ass kicked by Maidana first and lost to mayweather , and Lopez now he got his ass kicked again but all credit goes to mayweather for “dismantling ” him ha ha haPosted February 1, 2014 2:48 am
Sure enough, Collazo beat Hatton’s ass and had him knocked out… The 12th was a 2-point round.. The referee allowed Hatton to grab non-stop after he was hurt and should have taken at least one point for excessive holding.
The Collazo-Berto fight was fairly close. It wasn’t the same situation as the Hatton robbery.
Shane Mosley actually beat Collazo very dominantly.. I’ve never really seen Collazo in the shape he was in for this fight. He seemed to be stronger and sharper than I’ve ever seen him. I would like to see him against Shawn Porter, Paulie Malignaggi, or Brandon Rios. He didn’t get a lot of rounds fought in this fight, and he fought a loser of a fighter. Hopefully he’ll turn it up in his next fight.Posted February 1, 2014 2:35 am
Agua de Puto
A new fragrance by Victor Ortiz. Made out of the sweat from my Dancing With The Stars performance and the tears from the Maidana fight.
Oscar de la Hoya: “Victor’s Agua de Puto is so good I actually drank it. It tasted like chicken.”Posted February 1, 2014 1:42 am

Bye Bye Victor you are used up already. your armature ring movement in this fight was so uniform even an old out of shape dude could time you. retirement time; don’t think anyone would pay to watch you again.Posted February 1, 2014 1:07 am
Great to see Collazo win, Ortiz’s mentality is just too weak to be a top level boxer he quits when the going gets tough. In terms of people keep saying Collazo was robbed against Hatton he really wasn’t; the fight was pretty even with Hatton scoring a first round knock down. That sums it up, no robbery.Posted February 1, 2014 12:49 am

Gallinas de Puelto Lico
Boxer- I saw both fights with and Hatton and Berto. Those fights were close and obviously went to then rising star (Berto, who would gas out) and Hatton (the popular fighter, back then). They were close but he was not robbed. He is average, Ortiz is just a pu$$ie and Public Enemy is having a field day with this but the jokes on him because ask any mexican fan and they will all tell you (we) all wanted Ortiz to get KO. Public Enemy would root for an 86yr old fighter as long as he has putorican roots and when he lose would cry foul play! cheating!Posted January 31, 2014 11:42 pm
Gallinas de Puelto Lico
Boxer- eh, Im not sure about that. Broner is too fast for him and Maidana is too strong at 147lbs. Thurman might be a better match for him.Posted January 31, 2014 11:23 pm
Yo momma- collazo would school maidana and he would beat broner! This is another guy that gets the short end of the stick since he’s not a talker or a bad influence, he beat Ricky hatton and in reality beat andre Berto to!Posted January 31, 2014 10:59 pm
Not sure Collazo is a scalp. but you’re welcome to Broner’s flacid piece.
Maidana is different onions and getting pegged by a work horse is no disgrace.
Collazo and Maidana get my nod because they live the game and not “Da Game”!Posted January 31, 2014 10:40 pm
Good win for Collazo but he would get killed by Broner or Maidana.Posted January 31, 2014 9:47 pm
hahaha… good. Ortiz would talk alot of smack. I dont care about Collazo but I hated punka$$ quitter loud mouth Ortiz more. Im glad they got Ortiz out.Posted January 31, 2014 9:46 pm
Great fight Collazo fought last night, he let the fight come to him and got the KO. Victor Ortiz’s will and heart are not made for boxing. Ever since that “No Mas” vs Maidana and he said “I’m too young to be getting beat up like that.” said all there needs to be said for this kid. He would rather walk away then be carried out on his shield. Boxing fans want heroics like Gatti or poetry in motion like a Mayweather. Not sure what’s left for Ortiz except to sit down and look in the mirror long and hard and ask himself if he really wants to do this for a living. Adrian Broner found out the hard way, boxing is not part time job. I hate quoting Mayweather but boxing takes hard work and dedication. Hope Collazo gets a bigger fight and a bigger payday.Posted January 31, 2014 9:43 pm
“HHLONDON – agree, Luis was robbled blind vs Hatton and vs Berto.. I remember the look on Berto and his fathers face when Berto was announced the winner.. they were in shock stunned that Berto got the nod.. LOL There’s so much abuse of fighters it’s sickening..”
Just adds qualification to my assertion that Guerrero had no business being rated in the top 5 P4P or being in the ring with Mayweather. Berto ain’t that great which means Robert didn’t beat any welterweight good enough to earn him a fight with Floyd. Talk about manipulating the game.Posted January 31, 2014 8:45 pm
Things could have been very different for Collazo if he had not been robbed in Boston back in 06 while they maneuvered Hatton into 147lb contention.
Fights like that are why promoters, judges and managers should be breaking rocks still in a chain gang!Posted January 31, 2014 7:59 pm
Ortiz is a one-trick-pony ….. AKA … CRAP!
Go back to being an orphan!!Posted January 31, 2014 7:55 pm
Ortiz is a classic bully. He’s dominating and intimidating when he’s in control. The moment his opponents stand up to him, he falls apart. His career isn’t in boxing. Oscar saw a guy he thought he could promote as the next big Latino star and it failed. It remains to be seen if Canelo, who’s made of stronger stuff than Ortiz, is the next to go down. Personally, I think Alvarez will recover in time.Posted January 31, 2014 6:55 pm
Russel beating Miguel “Yaqui” Tamyo. 15-8-2 (KO13) doesn’t mean he deserves consideration of anything. The shocker is he’s facing such weak comp at this point of his career. Hard to believe Broner and he were once considered on par in terms of prospects.Posted January 31, 2014 5:09 pm
So happy for Louie Collazo! This was a big win for him and he is boxer who deserves a break. No this won’t propel him to new heights in the sport but it was huge win in front of a home town crowd for a guy who has been screwed time and again. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy or harder worker.Posted January 31, 2014 3:52 pm
People always underestimated Collaza. I watched Hatton fight and I thought he gave Hatton a beating and even wobbled him couple of times. Andre Berto’s decision was also questionable. Collazo is an old scholol fighter. He can bang good with those slip and slidesPosted January 31, 2014 3:38 pm
Nice write up Mr. Strauss. Collazo deserves everything good that comes to him. Hes earned it. I am really happy for him.Posted January 31, 2014 3:15 pm
Ortiz wants to hug Mayweather during the fight ! And now he says his loss is “No big deal.” Ortiz must retire. He’s not into boxing. You can’t box half-heartedly. He’s going to get hurt if he does.Posted January 31, 2014 2:52 pm
