Watch him at 36 and then at 26. There is a difference.

Octavius Jomar Chatman:

YES, the breaks helped him MENTALLY I would say more than anything. Inactivty and aging are never good for you and will always make you decline. Some slower than others. But breaks from the sport or any stressful activity will help slow down the process of burnout. After all, Floyd has been doing this since he was a kid and when active, trains incredibly hard. First time he “retired” was from burnout.

And who can blame him? With all that money, why would you want to keep boxing. Old Timers had to fight often because they did not have the luxury of the amount these modern athletes are making. Well, except for a few exceptions like Jack Dempsey.
ATHLETES that know what they are worth and have the balls and Mind to stand their ground and go get it will get their money.

People are talking about Floydiots. What about the Pactards. Pacquiauo always fights fighters at catch weights and coming of loses. He fought Hatton, mosley, and now it’s Brandon Rios coming of his loss Alverado. Don’t judge one person and hide the other’s baggage. I can’t do no wrong.

I don’t see any problems for Canelo moving up to 160 except one…

Grennady Golovkin.

Tomato Can

Canelo’s got a great shot to win this IMO. Mayweather’s going to have to be on top of his game to win this one. I have this feeling Mayweather is going be surprised by Canelo’s skill in the ring. The only problem for Canelo, is win or lose, where does he go from there? He’s probably not going to hang around at JRMW for much longer and the guys at 160 have height and reach advantages that will cause Canelo problems.

EVERYONE Has wear and Tear by 36. Add in that he is an athlete that has been training on a high level since he was young, YES, there is going to be natural wear and tear PLUS the additions of being an athlete and boxing.

More boxers feel the wear and tear from training. From doing road work, gym work, and SPARRING.

The way Floyd spars, YEAH, wear and tear would be more in sparring than in the actual fight. Do you realize how many rounds he does for preparation for a fight let alone the years he has put in doing it?

Posted August 30, 2013 6:18 pm

ellie goldie`wear n tear are u serious he barely gets hit in every fight..nossir!

Posted August 30, 2013 6:10 pm

OK so Sauls last TEN fights goes like this ……Luciano Leonel Cuello…………Carlos Manuel Baldomir……….Lovemore Ndou….Matthew Hatton….Ryan Rhodes….. Alfonso Gomez……. Kermit Cintron………Shane Mosley…Josesito Lopez..Then finally after all that has his first fight with someone at 154 Austin Trout…………..

Fight Aficionado

For a fight that’s gotten so many headlines there’s a stark lack of actual news. What’s happening in the camps and how are the sparring sessions going? What are their current weights? How many rails of coke has Oscar de la Hoya snorted off a ring card girl’s tits? We need answers.

Posted August 30, 2013 5:22 pm

Elie Golding..,

Did I say the other master boxers of history have never been hit???

Floyd is probably the best boxer there ever was… I was simply pointing out to all the Floydiots out there — that Floyd has gotten tagged harder lately than Canelo has been tagged in his last 10 fights — and that Canelo can defend well.

Canelo has not had to clinch 3 for 4 times in a round… He doesn’t punch and grab… He has good range for his height and reach… He counters expertly… and he’s not Ricky Hatton in any way.

So when you an in-depth analyze the 3 fights between Floyd, Cotto, Trout, and Canelo — you don’t necessarily come away with the conclusion that this is going to be a walk-over for Floyd.

The odds aren’t 10:1 or 20:1 here… This is going to be brutal. This could be Floyd’s first “fight” ever.

He is 36 years old and has a lot of wear and tear on him. We all lose to Father Time. He just needs to continue to listen to his Father and fight Smart.

I always say this: Those who want to see toe to toe thing, if they had a son and they brought their son to a trainer and that trainer said “look, I’ll teach your son how to go to war, toe to toe,” and another trainer said “I’ll teach your son how to hit and not be hit,” they’re going to leave their son with the one who says “I’m going to teach him how to hit and not get hit.” So they need to quit being hypocritical about how boxing should be. That’s boxing in it’s purest form and purest art and that’s what should be respected. But you know today we don’t have educated boxing fans……

Floyd is getting that OLD GUY look.

Posted August 30, 2013 4:09 pm

Exactly, their are two main points in boxing, hit and then not…………Floyd does the first incredibly and the second amazingly, if you can win fights impressively without taking shots then why wouldn’t you. Not his fault his opponents cannot land. He is not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok……..but you have to appreciate what is being witnessed when watching him

It has to be Great for a fighter to hear a “Hater” point out the few times you have been hit flush and hurt in a sport where getting hit flush and hurt is common. If you can count how many times you’ve been hit clean like that on your hand, you are doing something far above the rest.

Posted August 30, 2013 4:00 pm

How many times has Floyd been hit with a shot like that or anything close, and what did Mosley do the remained of the fight, apart from every 5 seconds look directly up a the ceiling, that is how far back his head was going when he got clipped. Styles make fights, I think Canelo will look very aggressive in the few times he will get to unload and will hit nothing.

Shane still has hand speed. And that jittery style of his may be hard to adapt to in the early rounds.

Shane also set up the right hand with the left in order to get Floyd to react and drop his guard.

Are you telling me that none of the other “Master Boxers” in history have been tagged by a loaded punch?

Posted August 30, 2013 3:07 pm

Hatton had very poor boxing skills. Hatton was one of the easier world championship level boxers to hit—on a par with Jake LaMotta, Gene Fullmer, Arturo Gatti, Vinny Pazienza, Little Red Lopez, Mando Ramos, Joe Frazier, Michael Moorer, Tommy Morrison, and George Foreman.

Although he lacks experience, Saul Alvarez is already one of the more difficult word championship caliber boxers to hit solidly. Just ask Austin Trout who was easier to tag—Miguel Cotto or Saul Alvarez. Both Trout and Mosley praised his defensive skills and punch slipping abilities. You never heard them say anything like that about Hatton.

Canelo hasn’t been hit with any stupid stuff in his last 10 fights. Floyd took flush jabs from Cotto. Whooaa BABY that smarts—Roger had to break out the king-sized Q-Tips … Floyd did the dipsy-doodle in the Mosley fight. Exactly how does a master boxer like Floyd get hit with loaded right hands smack in the puss???

Dr. Ross

Jim Rich:

Canelo is better than A.A.

Canelo throws combinations that look well thought out and put together on vital areas. He’ll mix up his attack to make you drop your hands low or get them to raise higher in order to land specific shots to hurt you.

His defense against Trout was also good.

His stamina needs to be worked on but that can be do to many factors:.

Canelo is more “Boxer” than Brawler. “Boxer/Puncher” to be exact.

Posted August 30, 2013 12:14 pm

Canelo will land very very little, Mayweather will see everything from a mile away and stay on the move, thats the key, he moves, he hits and he moves. Canelo pushed through a straight right hand and tries to push it another two inches past its target, I think Mayweather can defend against that. He also has stamina, Canelo will get gassed and will know it quickly, although I do not see a stoppage. You ever tried to squat a fly. What is going to happen we have seen before, Canelo is not the person to trouble Mayweather. A certain Filipino is and always will be………that is STILL the fight.

D@MM Jim Rich

You hit the nail right on the head. A good C fighter/bar room brawler

Posted August 30, 2013 10:47 am

Jim Rich

Canelo is a bar room brawler, perfect toughman competition c level fighter. Youth and strength have carried canelo this far but he will be outclassed by mayweather. The teacher has come to teach canelo a lesson that he is not as good as people make him to be. This fight will not even be close, landslide victory by mayweather with the crowd getting aroused everytime canelo unloads a haymaker even if it hits air or arms or whatever. Canelo is carbon copy of arthur abraham only he doesn’t punch as hard and has worse stamina. The smart bet is on mayweather all the way. Canelo has a chance, a small one, a miniscule chance. It will show early after round 3 it will be pretty obvious canelo just walked into a mine field without a detector, boom.

Posted August 30, 2013 10:44 am

Canelo is a BUM, too bad most of yall cant see it. He cant box. He has a punchers chance and thats it. Stop picking sides with your heart or race.

Posted August 30, 2013 10:37 am

Floyd starting to look old in his face. Starting to get that old guy look.

Posted August 30, 2013 10:28 am

Canelo doesn’t have to cheat on the weight… He’s got it handled… He’s going to weigh-in at 151.5 and enter the ring at 162.

He’s going to be strong, fast, durable, and deadly. Floyd is going to have to be on the top of his game to survive the 12.

Posted August 30, 2013 2:14 am

Anyway, it just proves that I am a better manager than Al Hayman for I actually would have made Floyd about a half-billion by now and there wouldnt have been many questions about his legacy either.

A lot of hype for a fight that will not even be competitive.

Posted August 29, 2013 10:00 pm

Mayweather is definitely on it, that’s why he accused Pacquiao, Mayweather was guaranteed to not get busted by the powers that be in boxing.

Posted August 29, 2013 9:52 pm

Hatton would of beat them if he was on peds, Hatton on peds, dangerous, there all on it except the UK boxers, cheaters, cheaters, it is not a level playing field.

Titopa-haha feather fist Floyd couldn’t stop a senile drunk old man with vertigo. His puffy feathers he calls fist have stopped 1 person I think in like 7 years..thx for the laugh.

Posted August 29, 2013 9:42 pm

Canelo can do that. Just gonna cost him a couple mil. Won’t help him any

Posted August 29, 2013 8:29 pm

Max Emiliano

Floyd and Canelo both have Light Middleweight belt, why need a catchweight, I thought Floyd fight his opponent in their comfortable weight?

Posted August 29, 2013 8:01 pm

I’m telling you, I believe Floyd is going to stop this kid…he’s gonna be too much for Canelo.

152lb limit scared chicken

Canelo is going to shock the world. FMJ is going down for a long nap.

Canelo by k.o. 8-9 th round. Time stamp and dated. Yes sir.

Posted August 29, 2013 6:57 pm

bob wouldnt allow pac to fight floyd and for very good reasoning..yezzir!

Posted August 29, 2013 6:54 pm

Floyd you never faced the best in your division. You ducked Kostya when he was in his prime as did De La Hoya and you have continually ducked Pacman. You are a terrific athlete and I think you will win this fight. Give the fans what we want and fight Pac soon. Peace out!!!

Posted August 29, 2013 6:49 pm

Floyd is starting to get that old guy look. that Old Guy Evander look.
Just an observation.

Posted August 29, 2013 6:40 pm

I see Good

WHY NOT. FLOYD CHERRYPICKER DID THAT TO MARQUEZ. Why should CHERRYPICKER have ANY advantage? Didnt Cherrypicker have a BELT at 154 at one time? Besides Canelo is the UNDISPUTED CHAMPION AT 154. NOT CHERRYPICKER

Posted August 29, 2013 6:34 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

Sounds like possible a good idea, but would Floyd pull out?

Posted August 29, 2013 6:25 pm

Canelo should just come in at 154 pay a penalty and give himself the best chance at beating Floyd. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if that’s exactly what happens
