Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

First of all, Canelo would outweigh Floyd by about 10-15 lbs on fight night. 22lbs is a major exaggeration. 172lbs was the heaviest Canelo has ever been in the ring, so it was a rare exception, NOT the norm. Trout was 171lbs, so it was even. If Floyd agreed to a fight at Jr. MW, he’d come in at about 152lbs (like he was vs. ODLH or Cotto) and Canelo would come in at about 165lbs or so.

Sure being a little heavier might be an advantage for Canelo, but that’s just boxing. Cutting weight and dehydrating in the week before weigh-ins has always been part of the sport and always will be. Floyd would still have the height, reach, speed, stamina and skills advantages, so I think Floyd would still have the upper hand. Easy Solution: Floyd must VACATE his two 154lbs titles, and consequently his #1 Ring ranking, after publicly stating that he’s “just too small” for that weight class. Problem solved!

Squared Circle – stop waffling and tells us if 22lbs is not an unfair advantage for Canelo and maybe boxing should just scrap the weight divisions to satisfy brave warriors like yourself.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Newsflash: HW boxing is a whole different animal because there are no weight limits. Even you should know that by now, SREDMOND. HWs don’t have to worry about starving themselves and dehydrating in the days before weigh-ins. They don’t think about how rehydrating will provide a certain level of “size” advantage. The weight issue is approached in a totally different manner, and just about the only HWs who think it’s an advantage to come in heavier are the few blown-up CWs (e.g., Holyfield, Cunningham, Adamek, etc). Otherwise, coming in heavy is generally thought of as a disadvantage — unless you’re a genetic freak of nature like the Klitschkos, who actually gain weight during training camp.

SREDMOND

If being heavier “is a disadvantage” lets help even the playing field and have Canelo shed some of that oppressive bulk while meeting FMJ at 147…. Good Christian move on my part!

Posted May 28, 2013 7:05 pm

SREDMOND

Squared Circle, AGAIN I know this is NEW to you but we DON’T consider 22 pounds to be a slight advantage unless you are discussing HW’s and its notable in that division… Boxing is broken into WEIGHT classes, it always has been and it always will be the goal is NOT to let one fighter have a demonstrable physical advantage in bodyweight…. you CANNOT make a man taller or his arms longer but you can dictate parity for body mass… You are harping on the NEGLIGIBLE aspects of their physicality 2 inches in reach means nothing as does an inch in height …. Alvarez and Floyd are the same height but 22 pound and 14 years is a BIG advantage… You are whining about Floyd having a 2 inch reach advantage if he outweighed Canelo by 22 pounds or even 15 you would lose your mind…No one is fooled serious stop pretending you competed because in wrestling and boxing weight is important…. If Canelo did not seek advantage or thought it did NOT matter why is he NOT fighting at 168 or 175 pounds which would require him to do little when it came to making weight…?? Because being able to put on 12 -22 pounds on your opponents has proven favorable to him…

Here’s another thought:

IF Canelo weight in @ 154 and 1 night later he weights 170 + and still ripped and cut muscle wise.

WHAT IS HIS WALK AROUND WEIGHT?

i’D SAY CLOSE TO 175 TO 180

Mayweather on the other hand is probably around 153

Why not we just put Mayweather in the ring with the light heavyweights. Thats basically what they are asking him to do anyway.

Yet, Mr. Pacroid gets a past to fight who ever he wants. by the way, DIDN’T Brandon RIOS just lose his last fight, and now he is in line to fight the great MANNY PAC. LMAO! Pac sure knows how to pickem don’t he? Pac loves to fight guys that have lost their previous bout. HE IS THE KING AT DOING it.

Some of you guys on here really wants Mayweather to lose. LOL Its not going to happen. Canelo can not do it. You clowns are trying to dismiss the weight differences as if there is no advantage.

Well tell me why PACRIOD made Cotto, Dela Hoya and Margo fight at a catch weight?

You know what, non of you crazy idiots will answer that question and we all know why. I’ve asked the question above many of times, and YET have I had ONE Mayweather hater answer the question. Thats because you can’t answer the question. Because you hate Mayweather so bad, you can’t even sleep at night. You hate him so much, that you watch every fight, and right dum A-s post about Sh-t you have no clue of what you are talking about. IF YOU HATE HIM SO MUCH< WHY ARE YOU POSTING ON EVERY TOPIC with the word MAYWEATHER in it?? LOL

Money is 36 now, His legacy is already written. You can not take that away, its to late for that now. Mayweather will ride off into the sunset a HOFer. WIN OR LOSE.

HATERS, what will you do, well you'll have to find someone else to hate, because the money machine will be gone with YOUR MONEY and if not MONEY your TIME. LOL

Square Peg/Squared Circle, your TV commentary about Floyd means nothing Mayweather has been reported to stay close to his fighting weight year round… He’s tiny the guy shocked me when he posed after the fight with Justin Bieber, nothing about FMJ is big absent his HEART, HOUSE, WALLET AND MOUTH… The musings of a so called washed up Football player have no bearing on the official reality of FMJs size… He was 149 30 days out against Guerrero an Ortiz… He was 146 at weigh in his last fight… Your attempts to paint him as a guy who ever walks around in the 160s are just a failed part of your propaganda campaign… We KNOW the truth..

Floyd is not huge. That body is the result of dedication and hard work. And damn good boxing genetics. Now, if he would just do that more than once or twice a year…

Actually I’m a former college football player with 18″ guns & 52″ chest, so am a much bigger man than little boy Floyd. So in order for a guy like me to say that… he’s gotta be looking pretty damn big for WW. Too me he looks the size of SRL at Middleweight when he fought Hearns in ’89. I never said he comes in at 160lbs on fight nights, I said he “walks around” at over 160lbs before he starts training camps. Big difference, Sling Blade.

Squared Circle, put down the magnifying glass and stop taking “dik pics” of FMJ he does not “look huge” and never does he is a super fit 147 pounder that never gets above 151 on the day of a fight… That’s not huge unless you’re a girly man or work as a cross dresser in the Phillipines…

Tark, Austin Trout and Canelo are NOT highly vetted fighters and that’s the facts of it… Each man has ONE World Class win and Trout git his off a guy coming off a loss..Canelo was not dominant against Trout, and he showed a lot of liabilities that FMJ exploits with ease he’s simply a plodder compared to Floyd and he’s gonna look terrible in there… You guys will whine that FMJ pot shotted and did not stand there and give Alvarez a chance as if it justifies the gap in skill… Canelos only chance is landing with an extra 20 pounds on him, beyond that it’s impossible for him to outbox Floyd in the traditional sense… You’re right 7% was too high, 5% is more realistic… No fighter is gonna be sellable as “Great” cause he took a UD from Austin Trout get real..

I figured Floyd was at least a -1200 favorite to beat Guerrero… I think he’s about -160 to beat Canelo… There’s a massive difference in the size, strength, jab, defense, stance, range, and over-all skills of Canelo and the so-called Ghost.. The Ghost was almost invisible on the most important night of his life.. Ask Mosley what he thinks about Canelo’s skills, quickness, and strength.. Shane just beat by UD the last guy Paulie Malignaggi beat by SD.

Floyd looks HUGE in that pic — like Mike Tyson’s little brother. Muscles popping-out everywhere like a bodybuilder. I know he walks around at over 160lbs when not in training camp, so it’s very impressive how quick he can melt down to 147lbs at his age.

Pac is the wild card in the Mayweather sweepstakes. If he beats Rios, he will have a compelling case to fight Mayweather. And Money would be a fool to not fight him because after Rios softens him up and maybe even damages him, he will be ripe for the taking.

With potential pay-per-view sales being a major factor, my thinking is that Money’s opponents will be sequentially more risky (with the most dangerous last) thus ostensibly preserving the sanctity of the agreement and the likelihood of Floyd reaching 49-0. And if he does reach 49, watch for an attempt at 50-0 in a mega fight that will produce more money than there is money—no pun intended.

Sredmond and his “canelo needs to be set to throwpunches” line has just elucidated the fact that sredmond doesn not know boxing and canot see the biggest difference between canelo and guerrero. This guy needs to learn how to watch a fight and stop reading somebody elses interpretation of events. What a garbage man sredmond is. Dudedoesnt know boxing.

Canelo will do 10 times better than slow feather fisted gueerero. That was the most garbage comparrison I ever read sredmond. Canelo is lightning fast and on his toes andhas power. In fact guerrero is his opposite. Canelo could do better at closing the gap and working floyd than even cotto. Sredmond is really selling canelo short here. But sredmond was never good at watching tape so he can’t break fights down. He’s just good at regurgitating the next nuthuggers floyd mayweather sack gargle. Canelo ould immediately be floyds best opponent to date if he faced him. Canelo needs to fight at 154. If floyd doesn’t wanna fight. I will be watching canelo on september 14th AS WILL A TON OF PEOPLE andlets see what becomes of floyds next ppv. Bahahahahahahahahahahaha not lookin good floyd

7% chance my ass… You’re vastly underrating the kid. What do you think Trout would do to Guerrero??? Trout is one of the slickest boxers out there. Trout was an undefeated World Champion who derided Canelo’s lack of “man strength.” The 170-pounder found that the freckle faced kid’s man strength was very deceptive — and he could never apply brute force on the kid like he did to Cotto. Cotto couldn’t find Trout with his jab like he found Floyd with his jab. Remember that when poo-pooing Trout’s boxing skills. Canelo doesn’t waste energy by chasing boxers around the ring. He’s extremely patient and makes you fight. He makes you box and think by changing up a lot. Defensively Alvarez slipped and blocked a lot of Trout’s punches in competent fashion, if not in masterful fashion. Very little was landing solidly. Guerrero would be eating those punches. Canelo is also much bigger, stronger, and harder punching than Guerrero. I’ll make Floyd an 8-5 favorite for now, but that may change if Canelo gets some great sparring and looks super good in training. Floyd usually has the sparring edge over everybody out there — but it will be tough to find guys who can duplicate Canelo’s unique style. This is the biggest risk Floyd has faced in his 17 year career.

Posted May 27, 2013 1:18 pm

SREDMOND

Canelos gonna look no better than Guerrero and might look worse because Guerreros fitness was top notch even if he could not match the P4P Kings handspeed… Floyd’s gonna be able to hit Canelo at will, a few head fakes against Trout who often under commits to his punches are a poor proxy for Floyd’s much faster hands and otherworldly precision.. Canelo needs to be set to throw, and Floyd will keep him turning and resetting all night… Canelos heavy feet afford him nothing but a punchers chance which he seeks to augment by sneaking an extra 22 pounds to the ring… From a technical standpoint he stands a 7% chance… Floyd’s just too GOOD..

The rematch would be Floyd’s toughest Fight because Canelo isn’t stupid. He’s a pretty QUICK learner. That’s why he’s #10 P4P at 22 yrs old……He’d probably be able to transition from Offense to Defense and Defense to Offense Faster in the next Fight and Floyd is going to have to be prepared for that. Canelo’s Offense and Defense is STELLAR. But he needs to learn how to blend them more fluidly ASAP…..When a guy misses you have to make him PAY and that’s where Floyd has the edge right now….other than hand speed, foot speed, endurance, and experience.

Here’s my prediction: Mayweather fights Garcia in Sept. and then fights Khan for his 147 belt next year assuming he beats Alexander, which I think will happen. If Alexander wins, he doesn’t get the FM fight.

In the promotion for Guerrero, they kept talking about his titles. FM and TMT recognize the average fan doesn’t know titles mean nothing.

If Josesito Lopez beats Maidana, I think he may get a shot at FM next. Latino, from SoCal, speaks English and is likeable.

Alvarez will be just as easy for Floyd to time because he doesn’t Defend and play Offense at the SAME time. Floyd will get him to lead and counter him until he retracts his Offense. Then he will feint him and lead off on him with pot shots and get outta there before he turns OFF his Defense and turns ON his Offense. EASY Fight to predict.

Posted May 27, 2013 1:20 am

TARK

Exactly… You have a tremendous grasp on the obvious Boxtra… Congrats.

But it’s not going to be as easy as boxing a wide open target like Guerrero. Alvarez is not as accessible. He doesn’t chase you. He doesn’t brawl. He’s dangerous and sharp from long range where Guerrero is not. His defense is sharp. His stance is more versatile. He fires combinations with more precision … and he has more weapons in his arsenal.

Floyd may not even fight this kid. He’s mulling over the risk/reward proposition and it’s a tough one.

Largo…., Come on guy, who has ever hurt Canelo Alvarez??? Look at this kid’s neck–it’s a slab of meat.. De La Hoya and Cotto have been knocked out… They’ve been knocked down… They’ve punched around… They’ve been hunted down and hammered.. Avarez has never been knocked out… never been knocked down… never hurt… never rocked… never chased around the ring… rarely ever hit with a great shot… He’s pretty strong defensively and he’s no punching bag like MargaCheato was against Mosley.

Floyd may out-box Alvarez in masterful fashion.. He’s not going to knock him out anymore than Michael Spinks was going to KO Mike Tyson… Michael Spinks is the GOAT at Light Heavyweight, but he just wasn’t a big strong heavyweight even at 212.. Douglas and Lewis were a lot bigger and taller than Tyson, so they had a better shot at stretching Mike out.. Could Golovkin knock Canelo out??? Certainly possible.. Floyd isn’t going to do it.. Guerrero fought for a long time as a featherweight and I told everybody Floyd wasn’t going to knock him out.. Very easy to hit but too damned tough… How many fights did Juan Manuel Marquez have as a featherweight??? JMM still has a welterweight’s chin and he’s 40.. Floyd might knock out a Tommy Hearns or Roger Mayweather.. He’s not going to KO a Keith Thurman or Saul Alvarez.. Just isn’t.

You guys are a riot, if he fights Canelo and smokes him which i see as about a 70-80 % percent possibility then thats already more then anyone will give Alexander, Bradley and dont even mention Khan, that possibility as highly stacked in Mayweathers favour as it is and rightly so is why people will pay to watch his fights. Most fans new Cotto would lose but they expected him to make Floyd work, and guess what he did, and the ppv numbers reflected that.

I still think that Floyd should fight Canelo at 154 without restriction because that’s how this guy stamina sucks big time; that’s the Saul that fought Trout, a 172 pounder incapable of fighting one full minute a round. Jr. is an excellent body puncher & he’ll be glad helping Canelo gas even more & earlier. Floyd has to be very defensive early on & work the body, after that i see Floyd taking this 5 rounder kid outta his misery…i say go for it, no restrictions…

Fighting Words have NO fear. I am HERE to teach you more about Boxing…. Mosley got the AIR taken out of his balloon once Floyd absorbed his DREAM shot and remained on his feet. Richardson had filled Mosley’s head UP prior to that Fight saying telling him and everybody ELSE that Shane could knock out ANY thing that weighed 147 pounds….Once Floyd remained on his feet Mosley was in a state of SHOCK and then Floyd’s SKILL level went UP to another level and drowned Mosley in a bath of SKILLS….. He then proceeded to beat the SKILLS out of Mosely and he hasn’t been the same man SINCE……Judah was actually already losing the Fight on Punches landed after the 3rd or 4th round. Youtube says I am CORRECT on that….Roger got lacksadaisical and allowed Floyd to lay on the ropes and in the corners and Cotto capatalized on that. That’s why Floyd replaced him with Floyd Sr. as his Trainer for the Guerrero Fight…..IF Cotto faced the same Floyd that Guerrero faced he would have gotten beaten more lopsidedly than he already DID and Floyd’s nose wouldn’t have been bloodied……Floyd has no one who can really challenge him on SKILLS at HIS weight you are as CORRECT I am on that. That’s why people are saying Canelo, Martinez, and Golovkin instead of Pacquiao, Marquez, and Bradley.

(Ali vs. Foster)….SO I advise Floyd to give Canelo a rehydration clause. Really Floyd is not powerful enough and fast with 10 oz gloves SO he needs a glove exception put in TOO like Leonard DID vs. Hagler….Either they both wear 8 oz gloves OR let Floyd wear 8 oz gloves and Canelo can keep his 10 oz gloves. IF they don’t want to let Floyd be at his BEST with 8 oz gloves and not outweighed by more than 20 lbs vs. a Top 10 P4P Fighter on Fight night then Floyd should remain at 147 take it or leave

Fighting words~ You sound foolish! A boxer getting hit during a fight, go figure! This is boxing, your hate of Mayweather is beyond extreme. Fighters get hit and some get hit hard. Mosely hit May hard, and Mayweather came back and dominated. Ortiz landed some shots but was slowly being broken down and he knew it. Ortiz became frustrted and fouled and paid the price. Cotto was still a good match but, not the same. He was beat convincingly. You’re acting as if May should never get hit. I know people have big expectations of brother May but, not to get touched in a fight is ridiculous.

The fight with Mosley, Mosley accidently hit Mayweather too hard and almost knock him out, but all of suddent Mosley supposely gased out after 6 minutes of fighting, or 4 minutes of fighting because niether fighter wasn’t doing much the 1st round. Look at all of Mosley fights including his most recent one and he has never gased. Boxing is what his does for a living, he is not gasing after 1 1/2 round. The Fight with Oritz, Oritz was giving to Mayweather and giving him problems and for some unnknown reason to the boxing fans he head butt Mayweather, isn’t it strange Oritz, the Mayweather hit him a left, right arm punchs and Oritz goes down, he got up from a harder punch thrown by Berto. Let us not forget Juda who knock Mayweather down, his glove did touch the mat, but all of sudden uncle Roger climbs up to get in the ring and Juda is suspended for a year go figure. Did Mayweather win that fight or was it a not contest? Hmmm. Cotto is nothing like he used to be after the Margarito and Manny fight, but he busted Mayweather up pretty good, Mayweather said himself he got hit too much, where to Mayweather experts that says he make fighters miss. There is not one legitimate WW on his 5 fight list to fulfill the Show Time contract. There is a reason why Floyd does not want to fight the IBF WW champion. IBF governor body would make Mayweather fight good fighters or give up the belt, unlike the WBO and especially the WBC.

You apparently have trouble with math and simple things like a tape measure….LOL yes of course in Tysons prime, all he did was fight short inept fighters And of course Tyson would have had not chance (LOL) against those Klit Bros (more LOLs) Yes im and idiot for not placing the same expectations or lack of Physical quality’s like height ETC on orthers.Canelo should just give up NOW as he is doomed to fail ! By the way I never in the first place made mention (except for Tyson) about any fighters being able to or not. Based on there (lack) of physical attributes that was you LOVE yourself TO much maybe ??Tyson destroyed fighters much taller than him (in his prime) and we will never know about the “IFS BUTS OR MAYBES” .THough your stupidness based on the PHYSICALITY of fighters is just that STUPID MANNY much shorter that MARGOCHEATER maybe he should not of fought him for fear of being TrOunced (for being the shorter Fighter)

TARK

With Floyd you don’t need previous PPV exposure… Floyd-Alvarez would do crazy numbers, because unlike Guerrero, Canelo would actually have a good chance to win — if the fight is done at 154… Let’s face it, there’s no fight at 147 … a weight Canelo just can’t make to save his life. They will probably work out a rehydration clause — like when Pacquiao came up 2 weight classes to 147 to meet De La Hoya … There has to be give and take on both sides to get it done.

Hookofthejab … you really think Tyson at 5’11” would do well against Klitsko at 6’7″ … really. You think that is a good fight. You know what is also stupid. Alvarez at age 33 years old fighting at 168 pounds against some fighter who is 6’1 or 6’2″ — Alvarez would have no chance. It is stupid. If Mayweather forces Alvarez gets down to 147 it would help Alvarez and add years to Alvarez’s career. Mayweather would be doing Alvarez a favor. Alvarez cannot be a great middle weight or supermiddle weight at 5’7″. It cannot happen. It is stupid. You are an idiot Hookofthejab. You apparently have trouble with math and simple things like a tape measure.

Floyd’s the bigger star. Canelo needs him more than he needs Canelo. If he really wants Floyd…he should do what Dawson did when he wanted Ward…and go to his weight.

Hookoffthejab … you sound really old. Today, is 2013. And in 2013, TYSON IS A MIDGET FOR HEAVYWEIGHT. Tyson would have no chance, no chance, no chance against Klitsko’s or some of the other super-sized heavyweights of the era today. In 1993, Tyson can compete in heavyweight as one of the great action fighters of all time. But he had big difficulties in his fights with tall fighters with long reaches. And it would be joke for Tyson to compete at heavyweight today. It is a different era. Alvarez is 5’7” and his is 22 years old. Tell me hookoffthejab, what weight will Alvarez fight at when he is 30 years old? What weight will Alvarez fight at when he is 35 years old? He is way too heavy for his age. He should come down to 147. It is better for him, better for the sport, and better for his long term career.

Posted May 26, 2013 7:37 pm

LOVE THE SPORT …I guess you would have TYSON come in at Middle cuz his to short for heavyweight ….

Posted May 26, 2013 7:28 pm

Love-the-Sport

Mayweather won his first title at 130 pounds. Mayweather is the smaller fighter and he should stick to his guns and force Alvarez to come down to 147.

In addition, for all of the Alvarez fans out there — I would point out that Mayweather would be doing Alvarez a favor by forcing Alvarez down to 147.

Given his height (5′ 7″), Alvarez is way, way, way, way too heavy for his age. He should come down to 147 and dominate at that weight for a few years and work his way slowly up to 154 and then end his career at 160. Alvarez is way too short for a middle weight — particular the up and coming large middle weights like Chavez and Golovkin and Quillen. And Alvarez would be a ridiculous joke at 168. He is a midget for that weight.

Alvarez will come in faster and in better shape if he comes in at 147 and he probably won’t be gassed in the later rounds. Alvarez has the best chance to beat Mayweather at 147. Whereas at 154, it will be a pick and pop fight with Floyd picking and popping and running and Alvarez will be reaching and flayling without the foot speed to catch Mayweather. At 154 pounds the only chance Alvarez will have will be lucky punch. At a 147 pounds, Alvarez will have a better chance and it will be better for his career long term.

Make the fight at 147.

Lman, first of all Canelo called out Floyd last year but when Floyd said ok Oscar said no, now Oscar want the fight. Why is it with Floyd haters Floyd missed out on the biggest payday of his career, Manny refused 40 million. Then got put to sleep for much less, and like you said Floyd is in the position to make much much more not so for Manny. Will a fight with Canelo be his biggest pay day I’m not so sure, but my wish is that he do take the fight give 175 lb. Canelo a good old school boxing lesson. I know I will hear all of the excuses about Canelo being green, or he was a hype job anyway…….If you don’t know that’s Floyd hater laguage for “boy that Mayweather is really good there will be a long time before he gets beat”.

hecdog, put Calzhage in a group where he does not belong. Here’s a simple explanation, when Calzhage had the chance to fight RRJ in his prime he refused to come to the US to create a fan base here. He just wanted to go for the big buck and unless you were a serious fight fan people in the US didn’t have a clue as to who Joe was. Joe only came to the US when Roy had been KO’d and Hopkins punch out put became low. He only fought the best when they were old not in their prime. Roy Jones Jr. or Benard Hopkins were not going to give Joe Calzhage a fight an not make good money because he wouldn’t fight in the US and be come known. Most people would have said of both of them that they were taking on some unkown bum for and easy payday. Would not have be true but the fights would not have done well.

Ironically, Floyds has consistentlly said its not about the legacy, and that “legacy dont pay bills” yet it seems that the legacy of protecting that 0 is what is actually driving his choices, not money.

Now that Canelo has stepped UP. Anything less than a Lara or the like will not draw unless in Texas or Mexico Junior on the other hand has a history of cherrypicking, and the tree is getting bare !

I dont think the author has to worry about Floyd looking like a hypocrite if he makes Canelo fight at a catch weight if the fight is actually made, after all he calls himself Money yet he already had a chance at making the biggest purse of his career against Manny and now it looks like he wont try to make the second biggest purse in his career, dont get me wrong I am not a Floyd hater, I just call it as i see it…

Hecdog~ You lost all credibility when you discredit Mayweather for being a great and then call Calzhage a great. Take a look at the resume of both and there is no comparison between the two, Mayweathers opponents are far better than JC’s. The only guys I say were top notch that he beat was Kessler and B-Hop. Kessler has’nt looked too great since that fight which in my opinion means he was on the down slide and B-Hop, well B-Hop keeps proving everyone wrong. My point is, if you call Calzhage a great then you must call Mayweather one as well. How many fight did JC have of off UK soil, 2. So JC liked home field advantage too. He was dropped by Mcgee, Ol man Jones and Hopkins. How many times has Mayweather been dropped? Mayweather has defeated more champs and ex champs than any other fighter in history. I’m not saying Mayweather is better but you can’t call JC a great if May isn’t one.

The point yall missing is floyd is the new odh. Like odh called the shots against may now mau calls the shots. Canelo is in no position tp demand anything. He either fights at 147 or miss his payday period! Haters floyd doesnt have to fight at 154 to please yall! N i feel floyd should give up his 154lb belt. He has no intentions of fighting at that weight again.

The only people who care about Floyd are Americans, the rest of world doesn’t care about him. He’s just another Yank who fights on home soil. Who wants to wwatch another Mayweather snooze fest? Give me a Froch v Kessler tear up any day. Excitment in every round! Great stuff. Floyd’s fights are boring. But they are good for insomnia.

Canelo is a young strong heading towards his prime champion. His fan base is picking up steam quickly. He’s the next big Mexcian boxing Icon. He can do PPV on his own. He has plenty of exciting fights in his future. Why would he care to drop to 147. Sorry Floyd, your time is near the end. Unbeaten or beaten, it doesn’t matter. Fans are tired of you fighting with that same hit, run, hug style. And fighting guys that are old, small or one dimensional. What fans are most tired of is you not FIGHTING as true warriors do. It’s okay to actually fight once in a great while. Fans don’t respect him and never will because he dodged the great challenges. Floyd will never be looked upon or respected as Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez, Roy Jones, Calzhage, Chavez Sr or other warriors. Canelo is the future because he’s young and marketable. Floyd blew it for himself by carefully choosing fights and taking no risks. Yeshe made a lot of money, but he lost a lot of respect from fighters and fans.

Very good point boxing madness , in regards to the ppv numbers a fight with canelo will pull in. Mayweather if for nothing else, would recognize that. His last numbers were not so great. Perhaps people nesides the hip hop fanbase are finally starting to catch on. Canelo may just through shrewed manuevering on the Public relations level, shame this individual into taking the match.

FM has had two titles at SWW (he holds the WBA now), so there is no reason not to fight at 154, other than he doesn’t want to fight a guy that weighs 170 plus lbs. I get that, but FM has skills Canelo has never dreamed of and beating bigger men is nothing new to FM, he beat DLH and Baldomir both of whom were much bigger. Granted,

Who does Alvarez think he is? Who do the fans think that he is? Mayweather is the MAN and that’s a fact. Alvarez is in no position to demand anything. There are plenty of middleweights who will gladly fight Alvarez, namely GGG. Mayweather and Alarez are two different weight classes and that’s it. Rationally, WHY should Mayweather risk anything? He has the money and doesn’t need Alvarez.

Exiled Yank

I’m a long time FM fan, and I understand his not wanting to fight Alvarez when he weighs in at LHW, but I also know that as a FM fan, it will do more for his legacy to fight at 154 and take Canelo’s championship. We all know MP beat DLH, but all know it is not as big of a win as FM’s over DLH because of the weight differences. I don’t know how this will go down, but I really hope it at SWW. Maybe FM can negotiate a rehydration clause. That would be interesting.

One thing about Floyd I always gave credit too he always did the fight at the weight limit of the division [except for Marquez but that was suppose to be for his benefit] making Canelo comes down tarnishes that about him. Take the fight at 154lbs or stop talking that Canelo is an opponent. Trying to dry him out is what Floyd fans always accused Pac of. I grew tired of it with Pac and I have grown tired of catchtweights period. We have enough divisions that you can do it there. This is special treatment to stars which boxing should stop doing ti in all facets of its sport. Not talking about the purse but everything else.

This fight will NOT take place. Canelo will not make 147lbs. Because he has simply outgrown that weight class. Mayweather COULD make 154 but he will not do it. This man for the past several years has made it a point to avoid a serious fight. Its so obvious to anyone who truly understands boxing. His charade hasgone on for a looooong time and he has become fairly wealthy ripping off HIS FAN BASE with EVENTS, not real legacy setting bouts. He has openly.admitted to this. In his own words he has said legacy means nothu.g to him. He is only concerned about MONEY. WORD TO HIS FAN BASE: HE CERTAINLY HAS GOTTEN YOURS.

It won’t be Kahn cause he is getting married wont be out til December he will be fighting Alexander I think mayweather will fight Canelo next just to prove a point it will be risky without a rehydration limit cause Canelo is big for the weight

What possible incentive could make it worthwhile for Floyd to fight at 154 knowing that Canelo will likely weight at least 170 if not closer to 175? I don’t see this fight taking place at 154.

I don’t believe it’ll be against Canelo…Sept 14 or ever. Floyd is a natural 147 and at his age that’s where he’ll be most effective. My guess is that perhaps Amir Kham may be his next victim. PPV Amir-Floyd may do well because both fighters are recognized by most boxing fans. I don’t see Kham standing a chance, but it’s all about the money.

Canelo may have painted himself against a wall as far as worthy and low risk PPV opponents go. Lara may be available, but that will be a risky fight for Canelo who appeared fatigue after the six round against Trout. He either had issues maintaining weight or his training at high altitude did him more harm than good, or a combination of the two. I used to train at high elevation, and although it was great for my lungs, I felt heavier once I descended to sea level due to the increase of atmospheric pressure.
