Fury didn’t get hit on the chin….he got hit on the eyebrows

It’s Me, Ernie

Yes, I came to a conclusion on Tyson after the McBride fight, he was done…

Posted April 24, 2013 6:57 pm

People are putting wwaayyy to much on this one fight…but he still got a 7th rd. k.o. Watch his last couple of fights before this before rushing to a false judgement.Would you only watch Mike Tyson vs McBride and come to a conclusion on Mike Tyson???

Posted April 23, 2013 5:46 pm

K2 Fan, To each his own, of course. That’s the beauty of it. Presumably we should anticipate your “Wladimir Klitschko: Dull but Competent” article shortly then?

Posted April 23, 2013 7:21 am

Watched round one please people Fury looks like an amateur if he wasnt 6foot nine no one would care. However he will get a title shot wait and see, there is no justice. HW boxing is farcical just now.

Posted April 23, 2013 5:09 am

Fury was much too easy to hit. His game-plan looked naive at best and he only used his weight advantage and not his height and reach.
When he comes up against the best he’ll be in trouble. Even a fat, ageing fighter like James Toney would be a level too high I reckon.
It’ll all end in tears I guess, but it’ll be fun while it lasts…

Posted April 23, 2013 3:03 am

Anytime somebody calls you a loud mouthed chump, among other things in a press conference it adds fuel to the fire… Tyson was pissed as Hell at Steve and that kind of thing can make you fight with cold blooded fury even if you have to come back from a savage knockdown punch… Fury had blood in his eye … His arms are a mile long but he went to an energy sapping inside mauling game. Counter intuitive, but it worked.

I wonder what nice things Fury will have to say about Wladimir Klitschko in their press conferences if that fight comes off… Probably something nastier than the names he’s called Wladimir so far.

Posted April 23, 2013 1:47 am

Fight Aficionado

Sure he’s vulnerable, when he threw out boxing and slugged it out with the smaller Cunningham. The contrast in how he fought this fight vs his last one is night and day. IMO Fury wanted to make a big splash in his American debut and create buzz with an explosive result. He did that, but in the process made it a high risk fight. Still, in the end it was mission accomplished.

Wlad would murder this soft ass britclown

Posted April 22, 2013 11:51 pm

I dont think you need a Klitschko to test his chin, Pulev, Haye heck even Abdusalamov would test it fine

Posted April 22, 2013 11:38 pm

Cunningham needs to retire. The guy is 36 years old and has lost 4 of his last 5 fights – the only fight he won was against a bum. Half way through the fight Cunningham was completely worn out. Cunningham went down by a punch that was not even loaded and did not come close to even getting up. Disgraceful effort.

Posted April 22, 2013 9:54 pm

Fury Sucks

Tyson Fury is a damn joke! The guy is pathetic. I hope he fights Vitaly next instead of Wlad, but either one will destroy him. Better yet, I wish Cain Velasquez would take this idiot up on his offer and destroy him.

Posted April 22, 2013 9:29 pm

Because you get knocked down does not mean a china chin. It actually can help. Gives you time to recover. He reacts well when hurt. Thats what’s important. Is he the best. No. But he comes to fight!

Posted April 22, 2013 7:50 pm

The title is dead on – Entertaining but vulnerable. Maybe you could add “And Arrogant!” Either Klitschko would have little trouble finding Fury’s chin, and they hit a LOT harder than Cunningham.

Its time for Fury to fight a decent hw, not a once great cw, who is a lousy hw.
But after a light hitting cw (ko ratio39 !!) dropped him , does Furys team dare to put him up against a top 20 fighter ?.

Posted April 22, 2013 4:22 pm

Fury’s not right in the head is he…. That was a big shot he took, but from someone not known for ko’ing people… Against someone who carries more pop in their punches and he’d be on his arse every round he just looks so awkward.

Posted April 22, 2013 3:00 pm

no chance of beating wlad no chance

I just hope Fury doesnt sing again, lol

Posted April 22, 2013 2:11 pm

I was entertained, embarrassed at some points, and I starting rooting for Cunningham after watching Fury screaming at Cunningham in round one. Fury went down hard in the second but recovered well (as he always seems to when he is decked). Cunningham seemed to be out-boxing Fury after that but Fury came back to score a brutal and awkward looking KO …. good on him. I do believe that Fury belongs in the nut-house …. but almost every time he fights it is entertaining. I bet most of you guys were enjoying it but, if you are honest with yourselves, you just didnt like the outcome. Thats cool, I cant blame you ….. Fury does come across as a bit of a plank at the best of times. I do think that Wladimir will beat him but Fury is a good challenger for him …. thats if he gets past Pulev and I got nothing but respect for that Hungarian …. he is tough.

fury v mago, that is what i want to see

Posted April 22, 2013 1:46 pm

slip and hit

anon…if he had no chin he wouldnt have gotten up…and he did very easy.Cunningham on the other hand couldnt get off his stool after he got crushed I thought they would have to take the ring down with him still sitting there.

Posted April 22, 2013 1:02 pm

another typical briton with no chin. Future prediction: pow! good bye fury. :)

Wow – so that is Tyson Fury? Pretty pathetic – a poor-man’s Valuev if you ask me. If Cunningham had better stamina he should have ko’d Fury in the second round.

slip and hit

Any man 6foot3 over 200lbs. can put down a guy from a over hand right the hardest punch in boxing. Its how a fighter reacts to it that counts,Fury was clear eyed and ready to go to war after that shot.I wounldnt worry about his chin…its fine. The kids been in with some big boys and took some nice shots always to come back hes tough as nails. Its his headcase ways Id be more worried about.

Posted April 22, 2013 10:46 am

either of the Klit brothers would destroy Fury, he bragged about steve being the smaller man and got put on his ass, imagine what a big heavyweight with power would do? he will be humbled soon.

Posted April 22, 2013 10:20 am

flash knock down…Your thinking is about 30yrs to late..because he was its because you dont know what your talking about…like Furys skill level.Dont judge it on this fight alone, look at the Johnson fight his level was much bettter.Without his uncle in his corner and the American hype trying to impress to much it didnt help him.

Posted April 22, 2013 10:15 am

flash knock down

Lol Fury is a goof ball. The funny thing about this article it said everything about Fury but his skill level. This reminded me of when I was passed over for a promotion because my supervisor said the other guy was funny true story oh he was white as well lol.

Posted April 22, 2013 10:05 am

ASSYRIAN GOD2…Great post nothing but the truth. This win could put Fury in the top 5 overall. And at the young age of 24 in 5yrs or about he will have a world belt…no doubt.

Posted April 22, 2013 9:50 am

True. Not entertaining, but effective. And he holds the hardware.

Welter willy

I wonder why Peter Fury could not get a Visa to USA?
Dont take much brain pwer to work it out does it.

Posted April 22, 2013 8:08 am

Fury is fun to watch, and I like him, but I doubt he could live long with Klitschko or Haye or, perhaps Pulev. He has fought good names and sells tickets, so he probably deserves a shot as much as Ray Austin or Manuel Charr did. He will probalbly get kayoed against Wladimir, but he can get stopped by lesser men for lesser money. If he gets the Klitschko fight, he will do his part in creating interest and building the gate.

Posted April 22, 2013 7:33 am

We need a Super Heavyweight division, I’m sick of seeing fights decided by the size of some lunk. If Fury was the same size as Haye he wouldnt even be in contention for a title shot. I’ll admit the klitschkos have some skills but if they were the size of Ali would they have held titles for so long or even at all?

Posted April 22, 2013 7:01 am

i wouldnt say he has a glass jaw. He got up and won the fight by KO. He took some hefty flush shots and stayed on his feet. He doesnt have the best chin, but he wasnt KO’d. He does have many problems though. He doesnt know how to use his height and reach to his advantage, he cant box, his deffence is awful, and a REAL HW will destroy him. If i were him, i would be looking to face the winner of Price vs Thompson 2. He got a reality check on saturday night, he was in serious trouble. I had him losing every round, plus the KD and the point deduction, so i think he has found his level. Lets not forget, He hasnt even faced a European contender! He vacated the British scene, and bi-passed the Euros to go after glory in America by fighting a blown up cruiser. My HW rankings are Wlad, Vitali, Haye, Povetkin, Pulev, Then MAYBE Fury. Im not sure he can compete with anyone above him.

Edgar Guevara

Another Canelo to much publicity, not skills at all. Charisma yes, because they pull a good crowd to their fights. The new superstar of boxing will be Adrien Broner, but he need to finally get a top A level fighter to graduate to Superstar.

Posted April 22, 2013 5:49 am

Contender #45

Fury has glass chin. He was floored. Go check Cherman “Tank” Williams vs Robert Helenius 6th round – Tanks Conch’ punch hitting the target. That is a true HW KO punch and what happens. Helenius is dancing some samba and is not floored. That kinda punch would easily KO´d Fury.

Posted April 22, 2013 4:35 am

Contender #45

He´s trainer and uncle Peter Fury, was criticising his performance: “This is what happens when I’m not there. He didn’t follow procedure, he just went out of control.” “Tyson ignored everyone. He did nothing of what we’ve been doing in the gym. Flat-footed. No upper body movement.” “Tyson is temperamental and needs guidance otherwise he goes in to fight. There was nothing good with that fight and I’m happy it’s out the way.”
So that was not Fury at his best.

Posted April 22, 2013 4:27 am

the voice of reason

A granite chin? hmmm…im not sure about that. i think his chin could prove his downfall. Still, he is entertaining for sure and shows lots of heart. When he puts them together he punches pretty good too. But theres some big, bad boys out there and i see a lot of hurt coming furys way. cunningham was chosen carefully for this fight but there will soon come a day when opponents can no longer be picked. I feel that pulev, arreola or stiverne to name just 3, will be too much for him

Posted April 22, 2013 2:26 am

He definitely has a future I just don’t think he is ready for Pulev right now.

Tyson gets caught up somewhere in the crowd. That is his main problem. Still needs to improve but cunningham is the type of fighter to make a big guy look bad and fury got a KO. I would like to see him with Ustinov or Wach or Dimitrenko next then maybe Thompson or figures crossed pulev before he steps in with wlad. He has come along way but still can improve

Posted April 21, 2013 10:44 pm

fury recovered quickly – this talk of a china chin is misplaced

Posted April 21, 2013 10:24 pm

this china chinned blow hard gets demolished by any decent hw who can punch. great match making to keep him from facing one thus far.

Dan Adams

Tyson Fury is an interesting fighter who, at only 24, could become championship material, IF he keeps learning his craft and then sticks to a game plan that doesn’t include boorish bragging and mugging for the cameras. Fury’s got a true fighting heart; let’s hope he hones his skills and sticks to plan in coming fights. And let’s hope he quits the clowning as well as the singing.

The Roar

Phew! Hard for me to say it but I’d actually like to see David Haye win for once. That being to beat the crap outta the talentless ape that is Tyson Fury.

Posted April 21, 2013 8:40 pm

I don’t find Fury “entertaining” at all, but that’s probably because I’m a fan of boxing (a genuine sport, requiring hard-won skill and intelligence) rather than of wrestling (farcical pantomime featuring overgrown morons with big mouths). There is no doubt that Fury would be better suited to the latter, and I dearly hope he makes the move ASAP. To speak on behalf of the vast majority of people in the UK, we’d also appreciate it if he didn’t let people know he’s from England. They love the Irish in the States, Tyson. You’d be much better off emphasising your Irish roots. Trust me on this: go take up wrestling, and call yourself Tyson “The Irish Giant” Fury: you’ll be a WWE star in no time! As for boxing, please give up: it’s painfully embarrassing to watch (even when you *don’t* punch yourself in the face).

Posted April 21, 2013 5:54 pm

It’ll be interesting to see who Hennessey matches up Fury with next. There’s a good chance his next bout will be in Germany, since Hennessey’s been building up Fury’s fan base as “an international fighter,” and Tyson’s already fought in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and the U.S. Hennessey’s also been developing young Fury (only 24) very gradually, so expect another B-level opponent maybe: Wach, Chagaev, Dimetrenko, Charr, or Gerber.

fight with Mago?

Posted April 21, 2013 4:46 pm

Fury did not box well in this fight…but he can box well just look at the Johnson fight that shows his boxing skills.Fury was looking to impress the americans to much wanting to look like Mike Tyson instead of himself.I could see after the first round when he pushed Cunningham after the bell that he was not really foucsed looking to much to impress like a rocky movie. But Fury has much more to offer then what we saw last night.Lets not forget he k.o. a guy who really beat a top 5 guy in Adamek. And Fury did show in the Jhonson fight he can even fight mature, picking his spots being patent. But he showed here he can still behave like a kid and get unfocsed, maybe not having his uncle in his corner had alot to do with it.Overall many thought Cunningham would win,he would be to skilled but not so.Fury still had a 7th round k.o. showed some things, didnt show alot of things he can do sadly. But at 24 and still growing into a mature fighter I think he will have alot to offer, and if he stays foucsed he will be a major player for a long time.

Posted April 21, 2013 4:11 pm

ohh man..the singing at the end of that fight…that was painful. Poor Steve Cunningham, I hope left the arena before he had to hear that.

Posted April 21, 2013 4:09 pm

I don’t think Fury even needs to fight someone his own size, Pulev has serious chances in beating Fury so does Haye.

Posted April 21, 2013 3:57 pm

Fury will soon be found out, most likely in his next fight the Fury train will be derailed

Posted April 21, 2013 3:24 pm

Fury is a caveman.

Posted April 21, 2013 3:11 pm

Tyson Fury ego is out of control, the bubble is going to burst when he meets someone his own size and a true heavy contender. He was very crude last night against a man aged 37 and 45lb lighter, his ego cost him a 2nd round visit to the canvas. He was dirty using the head, as for the KO he used his left forearm to push Cunningham’s head up before landing with the right hand, that was illegal. Tyson performance was terrible, it was more like a drunk in a barroom brawl, he did not win fans in America, He is a hype job.
