Paul “The Punisher” Williams Paralyzed From Waist Down, Perhaps Permanently, After Motorbike Crash!

By James Slater – In shocking and sad news it has been reported how boxing star and former world champ at 147 and 154-pounds, Paul Williams has been involved in a nasty motorbike crash. Reports say “The Punisher” suffered the accident on Sunday in his native Atlanta.

Paul’s trainer and father figure George Peterson said the 30-year-old warrior will undergo surgery on Wednesday. Williams, a true fan-favourite, will undergo surgery that will stabilize the top half of his body. Sadly – and we can only hope that Paul manages to pull through and make a full recovery – there is a strong chance Williams will suffer permanent paralysis from the waist down as a result of his injuries.

All that we can do now is send out our condolences to Williams and his family and hope he does manage to regain his full health.

It really has been a sad day for boxing today, what with this awful news along with the tragic death of legend Johnny Tapia being reported. Williams, still very much a top contender, was to have fought unbeaten Mexican sensation Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in a very big and important fight on September 15th. Naturally, this boxing match is currently the last thing on the mind of Williams himself, his fans and friends and his family..

Williams is not the only big-name boxer to have suffered a bad accident whilst riding a motorbike: the incredibly popular Diego “Chico” Corrales crashed his motorbike and was killed back in May of 2007, while earlier this year, Mexican warrior Julio Cesar Gonzalez also lost his life after a bike crash. Thankfully, Williams survived. Again, our best wishes go out to “The Punisher” at this sad time.
