Brighton Shore Fights on 7/20; Dominguez defeats Santiago; United boxers hit D.C on 7/16

Salita Promotions presents “Brighton Shore Fights”. New York City’s newest monthly boxing series is going to take place in Brooklyn at the Oceana Theater in the Oceanside neighborhood of Brighton Beach. “As a New Yorker, Boxer, Promoter and a fan of boxing, I feel it’s important to establish a monthly series that will allow fans to follow the progress of the boxers. It is equally important for boxers to have an opportunity to stay busy and build a relationship with fans,” said Dmitriy Salita, Founder and President of Salita Promotions.

The first installment will take place on Wednesday, July 20th and will feature undefeated light heavyweight prospect and four-time Golden Gloves Champion Will Rosinsky (13-0). The co-feature will showcase US Olympic Alternate, four-time Army Champion and Jr. Middleweight prospect Boyd Melson (4-0). Boyd is coming off impressive knockout wins and is looking to keep the KO streak alive as he makes his Brighton Shore debut. The undercard will feature American Heavyweight Jarrell Miller and other NYC boxing stars.

July 20th show will have special musical performance by hip hop star Big Frank.

“Brighton Shore Fights” from Oceana will be based around top professional boxers. The feature fighters include many Golden Gloves champions and established professionals, fighting for a shot at a world title. All fighters have a significant fan-base and bring different flavors reflected in their native origin, background and lifestyle. All shows will have live performances by a popular artist and include ringside celebrities, radio/TV personalities and politicians to create an exciting fight night experience.

Dominguez defeats Santiago

WOODHAVEN, NY (June 27, 2011)—This past Friday night at The Cordon Bleu in Woodhaven, New York, New Legend Boxing Promotions and Old World Boxing presented a memorable night of championship boxing that saw Juan Dominguez capture the New York State Bantamweight title; Melissa McMorrow win the ladies Flyweight State title and a controversial draw between Jonathan Cuba and Ariel Duran for the New York State Bantamweight.

Dominguez and Arturo Santiago engaged in a terrific fight that Dominguez fought well and Santiago should incredible courage and kept coming back every time that it seemed Dominguez would be in control.

Dominguez closed the show in style by dropping Santiago in the final moment to secure the victory and remain perfect at 8-0.

In the co-feature, Melissa McMorrow trekked across the country to win the New York State Lightweight title with a split decision over Eileen Olszewski in a ladies Flyweight bout.

It was a good close fight with McMorrow bobbing and weaving herself inside while Olszewski tried to control the fight from range.

McMorrow was able to win a lot of the little inside battles and worked the body to gain the narrow victory.

In what was the most intense and controversial fight of the night, Ariel Duran and Jonathan Cuba battled a spirited bout for the New York State Lightweight crown

The two waged war with Duran landing some nice lead rights and scoring a knockdown on Cuba. Cuba picked up the pace and stalked hurt Duran in the last round.

Most at ringside thought Duran deserved the victory and the title and talk quickly pointed towards a rematch

Other Winners on the card included Michael Brooks, Edward Valdez, Martin Wright, Tommy Rainone and Bryan Abraham, who scored a shocking third round stoppage over Scottie Burrell

Headlining will be undefeated super middleweight prospect Alexander “The Great” Johnson, 11-0-0 (4KO’s) of Oxon Hill, Maryland with rising star Emmanuel “The Tranzformer” Taylor, 12-0-0 (9KO’s) of Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland in the co-featured junior welterweight bout.

As part of the evening festivities United Boxers will honor two of the area’s legends in boxing, former world champions Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson and Sharmba Mitchell.

Said Chris Middendorf of United Boxers, “When I was managing fighters, the area was ruled by a group of area world champions; Mark Johnson, Sharmba Mitchell, Keith Holmes and William Joppy for starters. This show in DC is our effort to honor the area champions at the same time as we focus on the younger generation.”
