As Negotiations For Pacquiao-Mayweather Continue, “Pac-Man” Believes “Money” Is Afraid To Face Him

by James Slater – Negotiations for the mega-fight all of boxing wants to see, Floyd Mayweather Vs. Manny Pacquiao, continue as we speak. And as much as he seemingly wants a deal to be made so as to get the fight on, pound-for-pound king Pacquiao is still of the belief that Mayweather is afraid of him and doesn’t really want to face him in the ring.

This is the latest word we have heard from Pac-Man, and he spoke to The Freeman on the subject of whether or not the super-fight will actually happen..

“Right now, it’s not yet clear. He’s afraid to fight me” Pacquiao said on Sunday. “If it’s going to be a 50-50 split, the fight will definitely push through.”

As fans may have read, there is a suggestion Mayweather has made yet another demand – this one with regards to the purse money. Floyd reportedly asked for a 60-40 split in his favour, but Pacquiao, who relented and agreed, finally, to take a blood test as close as 14 days before the fight date ( this, of course, being the big sticking point that ruined the March date), made it clear he will give in to no more demands; especially the purse demand.

So, will Mayweather stick to his guns and only agree to the fight if he’s paid the lion’s share of the money, and if so, does this mean he is actually afraid of the lethal southpaw from the Philippines – seeing how the 33-year-old knows full well how Pac-Man will never agree to the smaller purse?

It’s tough to hurl an insult such as being afraid at any pro boxer, especially one as talented, as cocksure and as mentally strong as Mayweather. Are his purse demands simply another attempt at mind games, and is Floyd behind the scenes laughing, knowing he will of course take the fight that will make him a fortune? We can’t be sure, and for the moment, unless either Mayweather or Pacquiao relents on the purse issue, the fight will apparently continue to hang in the balance.

As far as mind games go, though, is Pacquiao succeeding in getting under Mayweather’s skin by accusing him of being afraid to fight him? Or does Pac-Man genuinely believe his latest comment?

Pacquiao says he is ready to fight “Money” in November. But is Mayweather ready to fight Pac-Man then?
