By Alden “The Kid” Chodash, Ringside at The Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida – Undefeated Brooklyn native, Joe Greene got his hands dirty in his winning effort against the awkward Jose Miguel Torres, brother of former WBO Light-Welterweight champion Ricardo Torres. Torres made it a dirty fight from the get-go, although occasionally catching the attention of Greene and the crowd when he was able to connect, most notably in the third round where he rocked Greene with a right hand and was able to follow up with a series of punches.. In the fourth, Greene put the onrushing Torres on the deck with a well-placed left hand. Greene was also able pick up a three point round as Torres cost himself another point via deduction for roughhousing tactics. Down the stretch, Greene was able to score with his left hand frequently, even managing to hurt Torres with it in the tenth. The scoring was unanimously in favor of the undefeated Joe Greene, who picks up his 20th victory in arguably his toughest fight to date.
Two-time amateur national champion Jeremy Bryan (now 6-0 3KOs) recorded his sixth career victory over an overmatched Chris Hill (now 4-17-2 2KOs) with a dominant unanimous decision victory over the course of four uneventful yet lopsided rounds. Scoring was 40-36 (twice) and 40-35.
Making his pro-debut, Thomas Delorme of Puerto Rico narrowly defeated David Rodriguez (now 1-3 1KO) by a majority decision. Delorme looked impressive during the first couple rounds using sharp combinations to dictate the pace against Rodriquez who didn’t have the hand-speed to catch up with his opponent. However, Delorme began to show signs of fatigue in the third round before Rodriguez began his first meaningful onslaught of punches towards the conclusion of the round, possibly stealing it in the process. Rodriguez followed up in the final round, capitalizing on a weakening Delorme who, nevertheless, effectively tied Rodriguez up to survive and capture his first career victory.
