Konstantin Airich v Danny Williams, Herbie Hide this Friday

Ahmet Öner (ARENA Box-Promotion) and Arturo Moral (Stock Eventos) join forces to present a night of high quality boxing this Firday (May 30th) in Barakaldo-Bilbao, Spain. The main event features 8 rounds of world class heavyweight boxing when reigning German heavyweight champion (interim) “Sandman” Konstantin Airich (9-0-1) faces the British champion “Brixton Bomber” Danny Williams (38-6-0)..

Both men are known for their extremely hard punch. Airich stopped 8 of the 10 opponents he faced so far (1 draw), Williams knocked out 30 opponents in 45 fights (6 losses). The most impressive k.o.-victory Danny could score so far was surely the 4th round stoppage of none other but Mike Tyson in Louisville, Kentucky – hometown of Muhammad Ali – in 2004.

“Of course, this is a real tough test for Konstantin”, states ARENA-CEO Ahmet Öner. “Danny is very experienced and has beaten a lot of great guys. But Konstantin got fists of steel. If he manages to hit Danny I believe the ‘Brixton Bomber’ might go down.”

The co-main event of the night features former WBO world heavyweight champion Herbie Hide (42-4-0) who is looking to defend his WBC international cruiserweight title against dangerous contender Ehinomen Ehikhamenor (12-2-0) from Benin (fighting out of New York).

“I am looking forward to fighting in Spain”, says the ‘Dancing Destroyer’. “I’ve been in professional boxing for almost 20 years now but actually it’s the first time I come to Spain. I hear the Spanish women are very beautiful here so all you ‘hombres’ better watch out because a bad boy is coming to town.”

In the second title fight of the night promising middleweight prospect Mahir “Lion” Oral (22-1-2) faces stable-mate Alexander Sipos (19-3-2) for the EBA interim championship. Former EU- and WBC international championship Oral just came back from a long hand injury. “It feels good to be back in the ring”, states Mahir. “Now that my hand is well again and I am getting in perfect shape I want to show everybody that I am one of the best middleweight boxers in the world.”

The same counts for local hero Ruben Diaz (12-1-2). “El Destructor” is looking to impress his home crowd by beating experienced Jurijs Boreiko (14-12-0) from Latvia.

The card is completed by rising light welterweight stars Sergej Sorokin (27-1-1) who wants to come closer to a world title shot by beating veteran Juan Carlos Villareal (39-8-1) from Argentina and Hector Moreira (20-0-0) who is looking to remain unbeaten against Russia’s Alexander Saltykov (6-11-2).

There will be 7 fights in total starting at 20:30h (doors open at 20:00h). The show will be broadcasted LIVE by Basque TV station EITB, German sports network DSF and FOX TV in Turkey.
