Boxing legend Ray Mancini hits Chicago for Friday Night Fights

11.05.07 – Former world champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini will be ringside Friday night, May 11th at Cicero Stadium as Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions presents MANO A MANO, another evening of world class professional boxing. MANO A MANO, is presented by 8 Count Productions HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, along with TCF Bank and Miller Beer. Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 7:00pm with the first bell at 8:00pm. Mancini won the WBA Lightweight Championship against Deuk Koo Kim on November 13, 1982 and defended it four times. His legendary career includes epic battles with Alexis Arguello, Bobby Chacon, Hector Camacho and twice with Livingstone Bramble.

Mancini’s crowd pleasing fights and whirlwind punching style made him a fan favorite and many of his fights were broadcast on network television in the early 80’s.

Also attending MANO A MANO is actor and boxing consultant Frank Stallone, brother

of Sylvester Stallone. Having fought as an amateur, Frank Stallone has appeared in numerous movies, most notably playing the memorable Eddie in “Barfly”, the story of Charles Bukowski starring Mickey Rourke.

In 2005, Frank Stallone worked as a consultant on the NBC reality show, “The Contender”.

Also part of MANO A MANO is Hall of Famer Mike “The Bodysnatcher McCallum, the trainer of Jim Strohl who’s is battling Tavoris Cloud in the main event.

Said Pesoli, “I’ve been a fan of Ray’s for many years and I’m thrilled that both he and Frank Stallone along with Mike McCallum will be attending our event Friday night.

Master of Ceremonies for this event will be nationally known ring announcer, Thomas Treiber.
