The Explosive Return of Frank Maloney

22.01.06 – Frank Maloney’s amicable parting of ways with Sports Network after a five year stint as consultant to the top promotional firm marks the reemergence of the self-made South London man who took Lennox Lewis to the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. The charismatic longtime fixture in the UK boxing business has joined his brother, Eugene, in order to help run the family business, Maloney Promotions..

The recent masterful signings of European Cruiserweight Champion David Haye and British Light Middle Champion Jamie Moore to promotional contracts clearly illustrates the direction in which the Maloneys are heading. The Peckham natives consider these two additions to the London based outfit’s current promotional stable of British and Commonwealth Lightweight Champion Graham Earl, British Bantamweight Champion Martin Power, former IBO Super Middleweight Champion Brian Magee and a host of exciting young prospects, as crucial to the continued success of Maloney Promotions.

“I enjoyed my five years at Sports Network, where I learned a great deal under Frank Warren, one of the best promoters I’ve ever worked with and I do hope to continue working with him,” said Frank Maloney.

“I’m excited to be helping my brother Eugene, who has struggled for the last six or seven years to keep small hall London boxing alive. If I’m not mistaken, he has promoted more shows than anyone else during that period. I appreciated what Frank Warren has done, releasing me early from my contract, so I can help my brother concentrate on building the family business.”

One of the jewels of the Maloney stable, British and Commonwealth Lightweight Champion Graham Earl, will soon find out if he has the good to compete at world level when he meets the greatly feared Belarussian, Yuri “The Czar” Romanov, in a hotly anticipated clash this coming Friday at the Goresbrook Leisure Center in Dagenham, Essex. Ex-British Champion Bobby Vanzie and two time British title challenger Steve Murray have already fallen prey to the withering attack of Romanov but Luton sharpshooter Earl has vowed that he’ll remove the smirk from the face of the boastful Eastern European and successfully defend English soil where others have failed.
