Deontay Wilder TKOs Johann Duhaupas
(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) BIRMINGHAM, AL (Sept. 26) – Heavyweight world champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs)scored another impressive victory ofhis exciting and undefeated career tonight with a hard-fought 11th round TKO over Johann “Reptile” Duhaupas (32-3, 20 KOs) in primetime on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC. Wilder’s win, which came at 55 seconds in the round, was registered in front of 8,471 raucous Alabama fans at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

Chudinov defeats Buglioni
In a predictable outcome, WBA “regular” super middleweight title holder Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) had little problems in beating an over-matched #4 WBA challenger Frank Buglioni (17-2-1, 13 KOs) by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision tonight at the Wemblay Arena in London, UK.
Paul Malignaggi beats Laszlo Fazekas
On Saturday 26, Principe theater looked like an Italian soccer stadium for Paul Malignaggi’s fight against Laszlo Fazekas. The building was sold-out (550 people) and the fans rowdly supported Malignaggi who won on points after 8 rounds. Fazekas didn’t come to be just the opponent and he proved it hitting Malignaggi’s face many times. The Hungarian was also deducted a point for his rugged tactics (a couple of times it seemed that Fazekas wanted to make it a bar brawl). After the victory, fans surrounded Malignaggi asking for autographs and selfies. The dressing room was just a few meters away from the ring, but the Magic Man needed several minutes to reach it because of the crowd. He was also interviewed by ESPN who sent a journalist to Milan to write a piece for their website.

The main event of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes showcased Julian Williams (21-0-1, 13 KOs) as he knocked out Luciano Cuello (35-4, 17 KOs) in the very first round of their contest. At the one minute 33-second mark of the first round Williams proved too much for Cuello.
The opening televised bout featured Mexico’s Moises Flores (24-0, 17 KOs) in an action-packed brawl against Argentina’s Luis Cusolito (21-2, 19 KOs). During a battle that allowed both fighters to appear in control at times, Flores managed to withstand 11 rounds of damage and sealed the deal with a 12th round knockout over Cusolito.

Stephen Smith produced a career best performance on his most important night to demolish the previously unstopped Italian Devis Boschiero, 37-4-1 (19KO’s), in 6 rounds, after dropping him 5 times en-route to victory in this IBF super featherweight world title final eliminator.
From the moment referee Marcus McDonnell brought the fighters together Smith looked in a different class to a fighter who has only previous tasted defeated at the very highest level. Smith looked confident and purposeful, exerting his authority as early as the 1st, sinking powerful hooks into the body of the Italian that seen him gasping for air.

Sean Dodd W10 Gary Buckland – Sean Dodd set fire to the script Renald Garrido ripped up earlier on in the night to box beautifully to secure a 10 round points victory over former British super featherweight champion Gary Buckland, 30-7 (10KO’s), and with it a potential shot at current British lightweight champion Scott Cardle.
Cardle was ringside to watch his late replacement Dodd, 10-1 (2KO’s), withstand the customary Buckland onslaught to coolly box above the levels his previous experience would suggest to deservedly have his hand held victorious 97-95 on the referees scorecard.
Badou Jack Outpoints George Groves
Badou Jack “The Ripper” (20-1-1, 12 KOs) successfully defended his WBC Super Middleweight World title with a hard-fought, crowd-pleasing 12-round majority decision over mandatory challenger “Saint” George Groves (21-3, 16 KOs). Jack, who dropped Groves late in the first round, triumphed by the scores of 116-111, 115-112 and 113-114. The hard-luck Groves, who abruptly fled the ring in disbelief after the announcement, fell to 0-3 in world title fights. Jack was impressive in what may have been his toughest fight to date.
Rocky Martinez draws Orlando Salido; Oquendo beats Gonzalez
Roman “Rocky” Martinez (29-2-3, 17 KOs) retained his WBO Junior Lightweight title with a thrilling 12-round majority draw in a rematch against four-time world champion Orlando “Siri” Salido (42-13-3, 29 KOs).
Picking up where they left off when they fought in a Fight of the Year candidate last April, won by Martinez, both fighters exchanged punches for 36 minutes of ferocious action. Each went down in the third round. At the end of a slugfest, in which more than 1,700 punches were thrown, one judge scored it for Martinez (115-113), one had Salido (115-113) in front and the other called it even (114-114).
