Breaking news: Tyson Fury stripped of IBF title

The IBF sanctioning organization did their job today in dutifully stripping their reluctant heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) of his IBF title for him failing to agree to defend the title against #1 IBF mandatory challenger Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov. The move clears the way for Glazkov to fight for the vacant IBF title against unbeaten #4 IBF Charles Martin for the title.

The 6’7” Fury captured the IBF title last Saturday night in edging the past his prime 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko by a dull 12 round unanimous decision at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) will have his next opponent announced this Friday during the truTV card, according to Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum. It’s unknown why Arum is waiting for that card in order to announce the fight, but it would appear that he’s trying to drum up interest in the card, which is headlined by the aging 33-year-old super bantamweight Nonito Donaire fighting Cesar Juarez.

Tyson Fury calls out Lennox Lewis

After his recent win over the 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) has expressed interest in facing the 43-year-old Vitali Klitschko and now the 50-year-old Lennox Lewis. It’s unclear why Fury wants to take on some of the older heavyweights that once graced the sport of boxing, but it looks like Fury has dialed himself in to fighting the elder statesman in order to possibly get easy paydays.

We’re not exactly seeing Fury chomping at the bit to get at the younger heavyweights that are still in their prime.

Feigenbutz defeats De Carolis, looks horrible

In a disappointing performance tonight by WBA interim super middleweight champion Vincent Feigenbutz (21-1, 19 KOs), he was forced to squeak by fringe contender #13 WBA Giovanni De Carolis (23-6, 11 KOs) by a disputed 12 round unanimous decision at the dm-Arena in Karlshrue, Germany.

Many boxing fans felt that the 20-year-old Feigenbutz should have been given a defeat rather than a victory, as he was outworked by the 31-year-old De Carolis in the majority of the rounds. What was even more embarrassing for the highly hyped Feigenbutz was him getting knocked down in the 1st round by a right hand from De Carolis.

WBA interim super middleweight champion Vincent Feigenbutz (20-1, 19 KOs) will be taking a risky fight against #13 WBA Giovanni De Carolis (23-5, 11 KOs) this Saturday night on October 17th at the DM-Arena, Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It wouldn’t be a risky fight for some of the more established and talented 168lb fighters in the division like Arthur Abraham, Badou Jack, James DeGale and Andre Dirrell, but it’s a risky fight for the 20-year-old Feigenbutz, because he’s so raw at this point in his career.

Chudinov defeats Buglioni

In a predictable outcome, WBA “regular” super middleweight title holder Fedor Chudinov (14-0, 10 KOs) had little problems in beating an over-matched #4 WBA challenger Frank Buglioni (17-2-1, 13 KOs) by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision tonight at the Wemblay Arena in London, UK.

Manuel Charr shooting; Gunman is still at large

German newspaper Bild reports that former heavyweight title contender Manuel Charr has been shot yesterday by an unknown person in a diner in the German town of Essen. The responsible person has fled the crime scene directly after the shooting. Charr was taken to a hospital, but apparently suffered no life-threatening injuries.

The “Kölner Express” reported on its Web site of four shots in the abdominal area. The police spoke of “several shots”, but would not confirm the identity of the victim. Since the attack is now determined as a homicide, eyewitnesses are to be heard during the day.
