Ali was a very charismatic person. In that respect he was a lot like Jack Dempsey who fans also loved. Was Ali a great boxer like Larry Holmes or Floyd Mayweather Jr? No.

I don’t think you could watch his losses to Ken Norton and Leon Spinks and say he was an outstanding technician. I don’t think those heavyweights would have a chance against Mariusz Wach for instance.

Sred says….., “I wonder how much the guys who gave him the intelligence tests earned? or what they accomplished in life….???”

The test givers probably didn’t buy a house filled with mold — and they probably didn’t get their brains beaten in to the point where their retirement was a burden on others… Warren Buffett made 70 Billion dollars and made Billions for investors as well. He set an honest and prudent example for Wall Street to follow — so that’s what I call real accomplishment.

Ali was intelligent enough to know the Viet Nam War was stupid. You didn’t have to be very smart for know that. I’ll always admire Ali for his principled stand, his character, and for being a great person … but nobody’s going to tell me he was intelligent.

” I wonder how much the guys who gave him the intelligence tests earned? or what they accomplished in life….??” Most excellent reply.

Tark, Ali was intelligent enough to be about 50 million times MORE famous and rich than you… I am sure he was NOT sitting on Wikipedia trying to dig up data on your life LOL… He managed to become a figure of worldwide acclaim and recognition the most famous boxer EVER and the King of self promotion… Benign intelligence if vastly overrated when it does not produce greatness… I wonder how much the guys who gave him the intelligence tests earned? or what they accomplished in life….???

….. “Ali was gifted, talented & intelligent.”

Maybe not so intelligent.. Ali scored below the minumum intelligence level required to be inducted into US military service, which 96 out of 100 people passed when Ali took the exam.. Ali couldn’t do 5th grade math.. When they lowered the IQ level required to they could induct more recruits they finally drafted Ali.
