Michael Dokes couldn’t leave the “wrong type” of women alone. Traitor.

Reading some of the posts here, help me to stay grounded. While I don’t cadone the thinks that Mike may have done, I know it not my place to judge him. RIP Mr. Dokes.

They should get whatever the law says they should get. That’s what we have politians for. They make the laws so that when they are broken; one has the pay the price for breaking them!!!!!

Posted August 13, 2012 9:42 pm

octavius72 – how much time in prison do you think a rapist should get? Ten years, 20 years, 30 years ?

Posted August 13, 2012 9:14 pm

how do u know hes in hell……….. are u god????? how do u not know he was 4 given???? are u telepathic wit da lord?????

Posted August 13, 2012 8:47 pm

hes already been 4 given bro/ let the anger go

Posted August 13, 2012 8:46 pm

I guess based on your theory; we ALL are a bunch of scumbags. None of us are perfect. I’m sure somewhere in your like you did SOMETHING WRONG; reguardless of whether it was to the extent of Mr. Dokes crime makes no difference. How would you feel if you were ALREADY JUDGED for whatever wrong you did; paid the price for the crime. Did your damnest to atone for the crime; but the world still continues to judge you just because you commited it in the first place??? That’s B!!!!

Posted August 13, 2012 5:37 pm

OCTAVIUS72 – Nobody is “passing judgment” on anyone. Once somebody is a convicted rapist, like Mike Tyson for example, it’s perfectly okay to call them a rapist or a dirtbag criminal. See? Remember that ordinary, everyday citizens sit on juries every day and they decide if someone is innocent or guilty.

Posted August 13, 2012 5:26 pm

@Drago; was your mother; sister or someone in your family raped before. Is that why your on here passing Judgement? Was it Dokes who did it?????

Posted August 13, 2012 4:36 pm

bye bye go bye bye off this forum ! your a judger.

Posted August 13, 2012 4:32 pm

I have great memories of Dokes fights. He was extremely talented. It’s hard for me to feel sad because he wasn’t in jail for shoving or cursing. He beat a woman senseless, and of course there is no excuse for that. He should have listened to Johnny Cash: “Stay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be.”

Posted August 13, 2012 4:02 pm

fred -er no, I never raped anyone and beat them senseless so no, why have you? By they way, there is no hell you zealous, naive, brainwashed moron :-)

Posted August 13, 2012 3:14 pm

to bye bye – judge yourself I bet if I dipped in your history closet I would find something real dark. Who are you to send someone to hell. Who are you GOD ?????

Posted August 13, 2012 2:50 pm

  Losers and cowards behind keyboards are really getting off. Your behind, too, will one day die. Hate on, fools. He, who has not sinned, cast the first stone. They is what I thought. Not a single one of you phony can.

fred- this guy got a huge sentence for an appalling crime, no matter how tough his upbringin what he put that poor woman through shows what kind of person he is.

I Luv Thai Pu55y

What did he do ..????????????

Posted August 13, 2012 1:14 pm

Judge yourself bye bye and the rest of you people.

Posted August 13, 2012 1:09 pm

Dokes you are now in hell, dirty filthy criminal. This might seem harsh but I just Googled what he was put in prison for. The world is better off without this vile scum.

Posted August 13, 2012 12:53 pm

There’s an old expression: “You play, you pay.” If you abuse your body long enough, there are consequences, like liver cancer. One guy said that, “Only God can judge.” That is true enough, but we are expected to acquit the innocent and convict the guilty. Michael Dokes spent ten years in prison for a very good reason. I’m a great believer in the concept of “innocent until proven guilty.” I have no patience for those who act like, “innocent after being proven guilty.”

MJ never did anything sir!! Check the FACTS

Posted August 13, 2012 11:32 am

Or u could just worry about living the best life YOU can live and not judge others as if you have had no sins of ur own…

I see comments of Michael on here that aren’t of the liking. Michael was charged for terrible crimes. Even though I met him you won’t know the difference he seemed like a nice person. I have been around the boxing scene for many years in and out of gym. I know a whole slew of boxers, champions, ex champions, trainers and ring staff. One thing I do know about boxing when you get hit in the head time and time again, that many times, it makes you go batty (Ku Ku clock). I’m not saying all fighters go nuts but most during and after they retire do weird things. Michael did do a bad thing, no excuse for that, I’m not making any. Many trainers have told me they have seen boxers go from normal people to crazy people after being hit so many times. When I wanted to be a fighter 35 years ago one trainer told me stay away from this sport boxing makes you go crazy in the head ( he twirled his fingers near his temple telling me this). In that same gym I went over to one fighter to talk to him and I couldn’t even understand him, he was punch drunk. So as for what he did outside the ring I’ll will let god judge Michael. As a fighter Michael was a terrific fighter.

everything about him represented a hard life R I P champ

“Only Christ can judge…” Yeah, right. He was a sadistic rapist, and thats that. I bet you people wouldn’t be so kind if the victim was your mother, sister or wife, beaten up to a pulp by a cocaine addicted thug.

Posted August 13, 2012 10:26 am

Dokes was a good fighter in the ring and he fought clean unlike Bernard Hopkins who someday when he passes will be noted as a corrupt fighter. Micheal was a good person and those charges are bogus. People are set up all the time. People that knew Micheal say he would never do such a thing.

RIP Former WBA Heavyweight Champ “Dynamite” Michael Dokes

Posted August 13, 2012 10:00 am

David D, your analytical and critical abilities are overwhelming your common sense. Mr. Slater wrote the article about the boxer Michael Dokes, not the convict. He gave a snapshot history of the ex-champ’s life–he never intended to write a biography about Dokes. So, give it a rest. Michael Dokes also had great moments in his life and he achieved heights and awards many of us never dream of or even attempt. Now the champ has died from a nasty form of cancer. A tribute, remembrance, and a few kind words don’t change Dokes’ life or history or sins. Slater didn’t try to fool or brainwash anybody. He just wrote the same kind of article he always does about a passing champ.

Thanks Micheal for spending time with me at Gold Coast casino in Vegas. I accidently bumped into you and couldn’t help to ask about your fight career and the famous fight with Holyfield. I’ll never forget that purplish suit you were wearing. You were all decked out. You were bigger in person than expected. The size of you I thought it’s amazing that Holyfield could take those shots from you and vice versa. Very strong looking and intimadating and at the same time a very nice person. Rest in Peace champ you gave us boxing fans some great fights.

Rest in peace champ. Sad but sadly he had it comming with the years of alcohol and drug problems and it it always sad when people die in early years. Michael Dokes was involved in several great fights and he will forever be remember for his achivments even if it was a weaker era he captured the WBA title he was still a champ.

Posted August 13, 2012 6:22 am

RIP Champ. BTW….It kills me how some of you have the nerves to come on here like you are Jesus Christ in the flesh and try to CONDEMN someone. I don’t care what he did in his life; GOD IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN JUDGE someone. Let he that be without sin CAST THE FIRST STONE!!!!!

Posted August 13, 2012 1:43 am

Rip Micheal Dokes. He was no doubt a tortured soul, but a very talented fighter and entertaining to watch.

I find it a bit tasteless to see a photo advertisement posted within the frame for an article about a boxer`s tragic passing.

Will be missed as a fighter, not at all as an human being.

The Modern Rat

“later serving time…”
I guess a fluff piece would not want to state the reason he served time. It truly was a pathetic reason, and I can see why the author would skip over this part of his life.

R.I.P. and God bless Michael Dokes. I remember touting you to all of my family and friends, telling everyone that they need to keep an eye on you. That you were going to be a great champion. Then you had that terrible fight with Ossie Ocasio and I had to make excuses for you. Well, you avenged that (gift) draw with a one round TKO. You went on to be champion like i knew you would be. God bless you and your family.

Posted August 12, 2012 6:00 pm

Oh no! Sorry to hear. Rest in peace Mr. Dokes that was a great fight with Holyfield.
