@JohnE.JaGozza…I have to RESPECTFULLY disagree with you; Cotto was already DAMAGED GOODS when he faced Pacman….He had that beaten out of him in his first loss to MargaCHEATO….He was not the same fighter after that fight…Even in the rematch with Margarito; it was evident; and Margarito had sustained eye damage in the fight with Pacman and you could still see that MENTALLY he was in Cotto’s head…The referee in that rematch stopped the fight only because of the eye issue with Margarito; but had that fight continued; I believe he would have put too much pressure on Cotto and gave him another beating. You could tell that Cotto seemed a little passive in that fight….

Cotto has the right trainer for him now, but he may be a tad too late to develop the ring smarts needed to win against Martinez. Being that it’s his first fight at this weight, Cotto is going for broke. Martinez, even if compromised by injury to the knee, etc., is still super familiar with fighting and defending his title at this weight. It will be a great fight — maybe the FOY — but Martinez will come out the winner. Super admire Cotto and do wish him to win, but logic leans toward Martinez.

I’ll be surprised if Cotto wins and I’m betting the farm that Martinez wins, I don’t know if it’s going to be by KO or U.A. but Martinez will win…Cotto lost too much in his battle with Pacquio… it too much out of him, it took some of his heart but much of his can’t get beat like that then think it hasn’t affected you…..and with Cotto, it has…. And I as stated in earlier posts, he should have changed trainers many years ago… Roach can do just so much, but he ain’t God and for Cotto to win this fight, he’ll need some divine intervention for sure …” The Language of the Ring “
