smith will never be a match for abraham groves and degale easily outclassed him in his prime, but if he gets a shot then you cannot put the guy down for taking, i’d take a world title shot tomorrow if offered (even if i’d had to lose a limb or two to make SMW). looking forward to seeing selby again on this show, feel he really needs to get more stoppages to get the attention of title holders promoters

if this match gets made,, could you blame smith for taking the fight? every fighter believes or why enter the ring? hes not world class, but Abraham is the weakest of the title holders. strange things happen, if he could land the WBO strap thats on the CV, also it gives him the biggest paydate once he defends it for the first and only time. i know there are too many straps, interim, super, my cousin once beat a passer by a card trick titles, but hes got to go for it!

DeGale ducked Bika ’cause he’d get mauled to death by and then would be left rebuilding his crap career.

DeGale is looking for one last payday against Froch/Groves.

DeGale is as bad a hyped-up poster-boy as Audley Harrison ever was.

DeGale has literally struggled against C-Level opposition worse than they ever fed Khan on.

Complete mismatch and Smith gets his jaw broken inside 5 rounds.

Mick the Marmalizer

Paul Smith talks B/S when he says he can’t find anyone to defend his British title against @ 168Lb! Rocky Fielding would provide him with his opportunity to win a Lonsdale belt out-right & I’m sure Kenny Anderson wouldn’t turn down the chance to get involved either. Even middleweight’s such as Mark Heffron B.J.Saunders & Chris Eubank Jr would show this pretender the ropes. This clown’s not even #1 in Liverpool let alone worthy of a crack at a so called World title (even if it’s only the lowly WBO version)!!………….

OK, maybe I should have read the previous posts before I commented!

This is a ridiculous match up. Smith is barely domestic level and that was in his prime. Even a fading Abraham will ko him early and easily. Why not degale, is a match up involving the winner of froch/groves being secretly negotiated?

Smith could pull this off…Abraham is fadeing…

sounds great. imho Groves has improved whilst Degale has stayed at the same level. he will need to up his game against either Groves or Froch. if smith gets the fight and lands the WBO title, nice little round robin.

Hey KOrnerman,

JAMES DEGALE is chasing Redemption vs George St. Groves or Glory vs Carl Cobra Froch, if he wins his final eliminator on May 31st on the big FROCH vs Groves undercard.

He was the mandatory for Bika and passed that chance up too for the very sensible and financially astute chance to break into the SMW elite, taking on whoever wins the main event.

Groves if he should win will not be able to out talk Chunky and will get as good as he gives and Cobra is the ultimate test of strength vs natural talent in DeGale.

I can’t wait, because the winner of FROCH vs Groves must defend against DEGALE (if he should win) within 90 days!

Why not Degale? better fight

Yet more evidence that Abraham and crew have locked up the WBO belt with zero intent to face anyone who has the slightest chance of winning.
