First of all hatton is not a great fighter a c hype fighter like mayweithter he’s done nothing great unlike PAC made history winning eight titles starting at flywht

you”re lucky if you see one great fight a year today. total joke.

Posted April 18, 2014 12:08 pm

Right… Julian Jackson moved up from jr middle after being taken out in 2 rounds by murderous Mike McCallum…

And Jackson won a piece of the middleweight title stripped from Leonard by crushing Harol Graham with one shot.

Michael Nunn would have killed Leonard or Hagler… Of course they refused to fight him because he was a slick 6’2″ undefeated southpaw who could blow their lights out.

Leonard let the middleweight title go rather than fight Nunn… I don’t see how that’s any different than Riddick Bowe refusing to fight lennox Lewis.

Posted April 18, 2014 1:11 am

Norris punched the crap out of Leonard…

Barkley punched the crap out of Hearns…

Benitez punched the crap out of Duran…

McCallum or Nunn would have punched the crap out of Hagler.

Posted April 17, 2014 5:20 pm

He would fight them in a heartbeat…very hittable. But he won’t fight Pacman.

Posted April 17, 2014 5:17 pm

duckweather has been running from pacquiao for five years. he would of run a marathon a day to stay clear of leonard hearns and duran.

Posted April 17, 2014 3:57 pm

Hearns had a good right hand but knocked out a lightweight with it… He was at a serious disadvantage power wise when he fought naturally stronger guys like Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley … and got knocked stiff early on in those fights.

Hearns avoided a lot of fighters who could hit much harder than him, such as: Nigel Benn… James Toney… Reggie Johnson… Mike McCallum… and Marvin Hagler; he avoided a rematch after getting knocked stiff. He didn’t avoid Iran Barkley…good for him.

But I Can’t blame Tommy for avoiding those five (5) men… He would have been at a serious power disadvantage if he fought them, and got crushed again.

Is this a joke?? Is Hatton back on the party dust??? For a start, a prime Tszyu would have whooped Hatton, so he was lucky that he caught Tszyu in semi-retirement mode… This is a ridiculous article, it’s like listening to the old drunks in the pub saying they’d have been a great footballer if he stayed away from the women and drink….. this is laughable…

FIGHT AFICIONADO, You’re Right. Hatton was never great enough to enjoy a sustained prime like the truly ATGs. many of whom wrote books on partying back in the 80s but still maintained their prime potency beyond 30.

Hatton ducked Witter.

Posted April 16, 2014 6:18 pm

Fight Aficionado

30 is when some fighters’ peak, 27-28 is generally ideal. But Hatton was already years past his prime by 30. Too many long nights bounding beer and snorting rails. Too much dead weight gained in between fights where he went from lean to fat. All of that drains your strength and energy. Do it long enough and it has long lasting effects.

Posted April 16, 2014 5:31 pm

te tumbo

“. . . thinks back to that night a half-decade ago”(?). don’t you mean 5 short years ago? when Hatton was only 30 and in the peak years of most great fighters?

Posted April 16, 2014 4:43 pm

Please do not insert Hatton between Pacquiao and Mayweather. Certainly he is not in their class. He is an excellent fighter I respect that but he is not equal to them.

Posted April 16, 2014 1:13 pm

Again, when you are looking at great Light Welters, how many achieved what Hatton did at the weight? Very few Jr Welter champs did, certainly NOT the likes of Oliva, Manley, Hinton, Costello, Marsh, Mitchell, Harris, Corley, Witter, Judah etc.

Posted April 16, 2014 1:08 pm

People saying Hatton was in his prime because he was 30 need to remember that different fighters peak at different ages, the same with all athletes. Thats down to 1] Genetics, 2] How you look after yourself in betwen fights and 3] Injuries or lack of. 4] Style of fighting.
Hatton was probably not genetically programmed to stay at his peak for long, he certainly did not respect his body or mind in between fights, and fighters with his style usually pass their peak earlier; Tyson, Frazier etc…..So it clearly is not just ”Chronological Age” but the sporting age you are at.

The great ricky hatton who was unbeaten at light welterweight. So was Cotto. Who do you think would win that fight prime 4 prime???

Posted April 16, 2014 9:28 am

I am a massive fan of Hatton who is seriously underrated by many but it is important to remember that when he beat Kostya the great Russian was past his best, not washed up but definitely past his best. Also whilst he threw wicked shots his hand speed was nothing like Manny’s. I reckon in his prime Hatton would have lasted a lot longer and given Manny problems but would have taken hard shots (even at his best Ricky was hardly elusive) and with Manny’s freakish power would have been stopped around midway.

Posted April 16, 2014 9:01 am

I have no idea. The only R. Hatton I know is not referred to as great.

Hatton was never and will never be considered a great period.

Posted April 16, 2014 8:53 am

Hatton WAS great by Jr.Welter standards. There have been few at the weight who have been as successful and dominant as Hatton, he is up there with Aaron Pryor and Kostya Tzyu, and certainly better/more successful than the likes of Bill Costello, Gary Hinton, Terry Marsh, Mickey Ward, Joe Louis Manley, Patrizio Oliva, Sharmba Mitchell, Vivian Harris, Saensak Muangsurin etc etc.

Posted April 16, 2014 8:39 am

I was at the Hatton/Pac fight and Hatton fought like a wild man which pissed me off immensley cos my dad had paid to take me there for my 40th!! I’m sure Hatton would have done better if he hadn’t gone in swinging for the fences but Pac was razor sharp that night and it’s hard to imagine that Ricky could ever have actually beaten him. Pac was fast, accurate and powerful @140lbs and caught Hatton clean on the end of the chin. Tzysu never really caught Hatton flush the way he did Judah or I think Hatton would have gone down much the same way – and I was a Hatton fan btw!!

Posted April 16, 2014 6:05 am

Stupid article….. He got brutally ko’d. His chin wouldn’t have been different any time. Hatton was not past it when they met. Hutton was so good fighter, not great. He did have possibly the most loyal fans. Who else has had 6000 fans travelling abroad to watch him?!

Posted April 16, 2014 5:39 am

Hatton beat kosta by head butt and elbows,Micky vann his personal referee saw him rite through the fight and the first half of his massively over rated career for that matter,Hatton was a publicity cash cow, pacquiao beats Hatton all day every day at any point in there careers as would any half descent 147lb’er when they got a bit too big to grapple with

TARK says, Hagler couldn’t touch SRL.

Re: Hagler vs Leonard
Official scores were:

The official cards were 115-113 Leonard, 115-113 Hagler and 118-110 Leonard ( the last one was crazy)

Most people to this day are split as to who won the fight! I was there and scored it to SRL by 1 point, but people got so hot about the decision, there were punch ups all around me! Yep, one of the hottest disputed decisions at the time and then followed up by the gift DRAW decision SRL got in his rematch with Hearns!

Most people, even SRL admitted Hearns won the rematch over 12 rounds!

Hag couldn’t find Sugar Ray.

Posted April 16, 2014 2:52 am

The Facts! says…, “Wifredo Benitez was not susceptible to a straight right hand. Even the hardest and best right handed fighter in welter weight history ( Tommy Hearns ) couldn’t drop him”

Leonard dropped Benitez—and stopped both Benitez and Hearns.. So Ray must have been better than Tommy.. Hagler hammered Hearns out—but Hag couldn’t fight Sugar Ray. A lot of guys hammered out Iran Barkley but Hearns couldn’t do that.. Hearns got hammered out by right hands from Barkley — so Hearns is not necessarily the guy to measure it by. But Tommy DID catch Benitez with a lot of weak rights—just couldn’t drop Wilfred like so many hard right hand punchers did to both Hearns and Benitez.

Tszyu would have torn Benitez a new azz hole with his wicked straigh right hander — just like he did Zab and Shambra.

I can say with almost 100% certainty that Manny Pacquiao is the greatest fighter to ever live. His accomplishments, impact and influence on the sport and the great fighters he defeated leave no doubt in my mind that he is at the top. If you take in all the other factors like amateur experience, quality of trainer and access to quality gyms with quality fighters to work with, Manny is without a doubt the best ever. Can anyone imagine just how much greater Manny would have become if he had been raised in a boxing family like the Mayweathers along with the amateur experience and training in the Untied States. These missing pieces only make Manny Pacquiao stand head and shoulders above all past and present fighters. Manny Pacquiao learned to fight on his own. He became the only 8 division Boxing champion in history. He is at the top, and that accomplishment will never be duplicated again, trust me. A prime Manny Pacquiao had faster hands, better punching power, better agility and movement and more stamina than any fighter in history. If Manny had decided to stay at his best weight(140) that he can still make easily, no one would have ever beaten him. Manny is a miracle man to have stepped up and competed and defeated all those fighters in higher weight classes. Manny Pacquiao pound for pound IMHO is better than SR Robinson, SR Leonard. JC Chavez, H Armstrong, Kostya Tzyu, Tyson, Ali, RJ Junior, F Mayweather and others. Fans all remember Manny’s Reign of Terror as he tore through Barrera, Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya, Margarito, Cotto, Clottey, Diaz, Mosely and others. His fights were the most action packed and exciting ever. Fans flocked from all over the world just to see him fight. Manny Pacquiao has always fought to make his fans happy. He is a warrior that challenged himself and never ran from anyone. Great fighters like Tyson, Roy Jones, Larry Holmes, Marvin Hagler, JC Chavez, Bradley, James Toney, Lennox Lewis, Roberto Duran and many more boxing legends have continually praised Manny Pacquiao. Fighters from all eras ahve been complimentary of this great iconic legend, and that speaks volumes about Manny Pacquiao the fighter and the man. Boxing fans today are lucky to have seen this once in a life time master piece of a fighter step into the ring and display his brilliance, greatness and unbelievable talent. Manny s more than a Picasso, more than a President, more than prodigy. Manny Pacquiao is boxing. I can still see the beautiful face of Dionesia Pacquiao cheering her son on with all of her passion, emotions and love for her son. She had a cross and her picture of baby Jesus as she was concerned for her son and prayed to God that Manny would not be hurt. There is nothing more touching and beautiful than to see a mother praying for her son and feeling each and every punch as if she was being hit. Manny Pacquiao should be proud to have such a loving and caring mother. Dionesia Pacquiao is a blessed lady to have given birth to the greatest fighter in boxing history. Trust me on this. Manny is the best ever!

Who cares about what ifs but for da record Pac would have beaten Hatton 10 out of 10 times had they fought in their primes – Pac is way 2 versatile

Posted April 15, 2014 11:47 pm

DJ.., “Any other fighter in his prime in that division, I will pick Tszyu any day.” … Any other fighter in history????

Kostya was not quite all that..

Not versus Mayweather… Pacquiao… Aaron Pryor… Danny Garcia… Lucas Matthysse… Tim Bradley… Lamont Peterson… or Ricky Hatton… They all would have beaten Kostya inside … In fact I thought Oktay Urkal beat KT by roughing him up.

I think Wilfredo Benitez’s style would be perfect for Tszyu’s razor sharp straight right…a unique punch.. That was Benitez’s weakness. Kostya would have put Wilfred OUT!!

Posted April 15, 2014 10:37 pm

It’s the fighters’ responsibility to be in good shape every time he has a fight. If he can’t be in good shape then you are an undisciplined fighter. If you are an undisciplined fighter you cannot be called one of the greats. It’s as simple as that. Did you see Mayweather , Pacquiao , Hopkins fatten up after a fight? No they are always in shape. To sum it up? It’s very unprofessional of Hatton to be that way.

Posted April 15, 2014 10:07 pm

I take nothing from Hatton – but MP would beat him no matter when they fought. MP is faster, more powerful, and awkward. RH comes straight forward and bangs.

Posted April 15, 2014 8:58 pm

TSZYU – I’m gonna knock you out tonight…

Posted April 15, 2014 8:53 pm

Tszyu is the best 140lb fighter of all time in my opinion. He had a couple of losses. There is nothing wrong with that. When Phillips beat him, it wasn’t as one sided as everyone makes out. Yeah he got beat alright but he came back a better and more disciplined fighter after the loss. To not only keep winning, but he dominated the best of the best fighters of that division. And when he lost to Hatton we know all of the dirty tricks Hatton was allowed to get away with and Tszyu also had injured himself, but as KT said he was better on the night and deserved to win. A prime KT verse any other fighter in his prime in that division, I will pick KT any day of the week.

Pacquaio probably by stoppage ….. bad clash of styles for Hatton and he never liked southpaws. Pacquaio was the faster, hit harder and the better fighter. Peak-v-peak same result.

Octavius Jomar Chatman

Iman….I totally agree with your assessment. The ref let him get away with low blows and all sorts of stuff. His fan base and the energy he brought was great for the sport; but it’s good to see a fan who keeps things in its proper perspective!!!

Posted April 15, 2014 7:10 pm

Hatton was just an ugly no skills wrestler…….

Posted April 15, 2014 6:48 pm

If you ask me, his signature win against Tszyu was tainted by a ref who allowed Hatton to get away with alot of rough house tactics. It took that and a home crowd advantage to beat a 36 year old shopworn elite fighter. That in itself spoke volumes about his true ability. Still props to Hatton, he was entertaining to watch and the atmosphere he brought to his fights were good for boxing.

A prime Pacquiao would have smashed Tszyu too…

Pac would have had him out in 3 or 4… Tszyu hated brawlers. He hated to exchange punches. He loved to sit back and box… He loved runners so he could get them on the end of his big right.

Pacquiao would have stayed on Tszyu and smashed him out like he did Hatton.

Posted April 15, 2014 4:31 pm

His prime? Ricky Hatton was never a great fighter. He was a slugger who got away with a lot of dirty tactics because he had a huge fanbase in England. That Tszyu fight was a disgrace, and it was the one the media promoted to make Hatton seem like more than he was. Then he fought two real competitors and found out what the elite level of fighting was really about in the US where he couldn’t use those rough-house tactics. Lazcano almost knocked Hatton out after Hatton lost to Floyd, but the ref saved him so he could get one more payday with Pacquiao. Those are the highlights of his career.

FMJ didn’t handle Hatton the whole fight. There is no need to re-write history. Hatton could have been up 2 rounds after 6 except for the non-hit to the back of the head that Cortez deducted. That was a rough fight for FMJ(who admitted as much in the post fight). After 6 FMJ hit another gear. But it wasn’t a walk in the park for either guy in those early rounds. It was very lopsided after the 7th.

Hatton should be thanking his lucky stars he wasn’t killed by that punch. When his eyes rolled back and his tongue hung out, I thought he was close to death. Hatton was only dangerous when Dave Parris was coddling him and allowing him to get away with murder. The truth hurts, no?

Peej , read the article or don’t post, or you just be defending Floyd at what in your head that day, we all hate the article but force ourself to read it, as that what the thread about. And boxing is about the best fighter in belt ranking fight there mandatory and PAC is the best of top rank and Floyd is the best of GBP so it’s going to come to Floyd and PAC Comparison all the time until they fight.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

First of all, Hatton wasn’t “great” as in ATG like PacMan or Mayweather. Secondly, Pac definitely would’ve destroyed him at any point in his career. This article is riddled with excuses and sympathies for Hatton, so must have been written to entertain the wild imaginations of the Brits who frequent ESB.

Posted April 15, 2014 2:20 pm

Well as I have already stated, the out come would be the same, just may have lasted a round or 2 longer. I don’t read the articles cause most times they are garbage.

Ricky hatten got 30 thousand of U.K fan to come over for his fight, do you think he would do it not at his prime? Remember He was unbeaten at JR WW. his real weight. Was really sad watch his mon seen Ricky alsleep on the mat. (And tumbo that was a way better ko than you’re favorite)

Posted April 15, 2014 2:14 pm

The outcome would be the same.

Posted April 15, 2014 2:13 pm

shame pacman and his mate duckweather never met a prime duran.

Posted April 15, 2014 2:11 pm

Primes?? If my memory isn’t failing me but weren’t they BOTH 30 yrs old when they fought. What prime is Ricky talking about?? Is he talking about when he beat physically damaged Kostya Tszyu? Or when he barely got by Collazo?? Or was it when he defeated Paulie, which took place a few months prior to his destruction at the hands of Manny??

Posted April 15, 2014 2:07 pm

What a ridiculous premise. Hatton was only 30 years old. He WAS in his prime when he met PAC. Had he fought the likes of Mayweather or Pac (or half a dozen other top fighters in his era) his record would been marked up much earlier. An illusion that comes with fighting repeatedly against relatively soft opposition makes fighters (and fans) begin to believe the press clippings. The solid win against Tszyu stands as Hatton’s sole win against an elite fighter. Most never achieve that status and Ricky should feel proud of his achievement. Seeing anything more is just sad. At no stage of his career would Ricky have beaten Mayweather or PAC.

PEEJ. Why were alway wrong? Read the article Hatten ( topic of article) says look back at Floyd fight he did really well . And looking back at PAC fight he did very poorly. Floyd very much involved .
As the title suggest PAC fought hatten in decline, no watch his utube in prep for many fight.
He punch the heavy bag for 3 minutes nonstop all out, never seen a fight distroyed a heavy bag beside PAC.

The Mad Scientist

Mightve faired better against Pacquiao in his prime but Ricky Hatton was never great nor a HOF’er..

Posted April 15, 2014 1:55 pm

Wait a minute.. ahhh.. aren’t they the SAME age??

Posted April 15, 2014 1:46 pm

Hatton showed nothing about Floyd. Funny how this thread is turning into what Hatton did against Floyd. Mike Tyson stop posting about other fighters, this thread is about Hatton and Pac not Floyd.

The title implies Hatton was shot when he faced Pac. I don’t think that was the case. Hatton still gets put to sleep by Pac. Hatton was an over-achiever. For what Hatton lacked in skill he made up in tenacity & a durable chin. But he was relatively crude, mauling, mugging type fighter who wore down opponents with his size & will at 140. Hatton took plenty of shots in his prime. “Prime” Hatton never faced a fighter with Pac’s combination of speed, power, precision & aggressiveness. Hatton would still willingly walk into Pac’s range hopelessly outgunned. That was how Hatton fought his entire career.

Ricky show the punch that Floyd open too. It’s floating off timing left lobbing over the top punches that that comes down.over and right through Floyd right hand held up .

Another punch he and broner and all low left boxer was victim too is the floating lead right, or the 1-4 right counter.

Another open punch Floyd open to , PAC show when a fighter tries to hold step back and hook hard.

Floyd the boxer to beat he the best, but just showing he not untouchable.

Ricky hatten was a jr W.W his best fighting and he was undefeated at 140lb he was the king. He When up to W.W a catch weight fight twice To fight Collazo and Floyd . Flloyd was 147 and hatten was 145 just another Marquez were Floyd fought a jr W.W that wasn’t fair in fighting weight. Floyd rehydrated back to 150 + lb at fight night he did the same to Marquez a JW.W

PAC fought Rickey undefeated at his regular 140 lb weight or a jr W.W fight .floyd fool his fans again. Look it up.

Tha 1… 2…

Pac would be favored no matter when they faught but its crazy how so many people underestimate what goes on in training camps. Especially as it pertains to the fight they are preparing for. If he has his normal camp and hadn’t warn himself out trying to cut from his normal “party” weight he would have given Manny a war. I could see a fight of the year candidate between the two if hes at his best. That looping shot would not have connected on a well training and aware Hatton. But in the end its all about what happens at the moment… In that moment Hatton got KTFO!

Posted April 15, 2014 1:13 pm

But fact still remains he was not training properly. As Floyd Sr pointed out he was not showing up for training and as Hatton has said he was partying and doing coke. The only difference in the fight is that it may have last a round or 2 longer.

Posted April 15, 2014 1:12 pm

Hello there !

Floyd Sr should be magican !

Posted April 15, 2014 1:09 pm

Pacquiao-Hatton was fought at light welterweight.. That’s 140 … Hatton was a 45-1 a much better record than Pacquiao. On paper. In REALITY Pacman was 10 times better at boxing and punching.

Pacquiao dominated the first round landing 38 punches to Hatton’s 5. Pacquiao knocked Hatton FLAT and OUT in the 2nd round. Hatton had just outboxed Paulie Malignaggi, probably the best boxed fight if his entire career. He was learning tons of new stuff from Floyd Sr.

Pacquiao was a much better boxer… a much better puncher… he moved much better… and he was physically the stronger and tougher man… all of which I told Vivek before their fight…. Hatton was wide open for a dangerous slashing puncher such as Pacquiao was in his prime.

Vivek, who hates Pacquiao agreed with a couple other who posters who scoffed at my prediction of an early KO.

Posted April 15, 2014 1:00 pm

Pacquiao vs Hatton was at Jr Welterweight. Hatton weighed in at 140, Pacquiao at 138.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:57 pm

Be Real

Pacman inside three rounds!

Posted April 15, 2014 12:54 pm

Pacquiao beat Hatton at the Jr Welter 140lbs limit, if I remember rightly…

Posted April 15, 2014 12:47 pm

Regards below post; Hatton never lost a fight at Jr.Welter, so yes, he WAS a great Jr.Welter.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:43 pm

Hatton was NOT the same at Welterweight! He did not carry his power, physical strength, stamina and punch resistance up from Light Welter. This and the fact that he began to get terribly out of shape with overeating, drinking hard and partying between fights meant he was never going to beat Mayweather or Pacman at Weler and at that time. A PRIME JR. WELTER Hatton may well have given both Mayweather and Pacman a very hard time, perhaps even have won.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:41 pm

Hatton didn’t give Floyd a tough fight. Hatton got handled in the fight. That is like Chavez saying he gave Floyd a tough fight.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:41 pm

Truth Teller

Same result…Hatton only lost once (twice if you count the Collazo robbery). If you don’t move your head against a prime Pacquiao, you get wrecked.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:11 pm

Posted April 15, 2014 12:05 pm

Hatton gave Matyweather a very tough fight until he got caught with that check left hook. He retired Kostya and prime Hatton would have taken Manny to war . Hatton was one tough scrapper.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:05 pm

No. Hatton could not have ever been prepared for Manny. Once again, no.

Posted April 15, 2014 12:02 pm

Hatton would of got KTFO even quicker,
“” The great Ricky Hatton “” Christ what does that make Duran, Chavez , Hagler , etc etc…

Posted April 15, 2014 11:49 am

Hatton has been called Fatton for a while. Way before the Floyd fight and that is because of the way he blows up in between fights. Had nothing to do with going to 147. If that was the case they he would of never went back to 147 after the Collazo fight.

Posted April 15, 2014 11:46 am

Probably the same result just may happen a little bit later. Hatton didn’t have much defense. His offense was his defense. He would have to go through some fire power to get to were he needed to be which would be up close. That is were he did all his work. It is a known fact that he really didn’t train for Pac when they fought. He didn’t show up for work outs, he was out partying and doing coke. But at the end, Pac would of still knocked him out

Posted April 15, 2014 11:45 am

When he fought Mayweather Hatton call himself Ricky Fatton. And he said I’m going back to 140 lb nobody can beat there. Haha

Posted April 15, 2014 11:43 am

First of all the fight against tzyu was so competitive. If tzyu did not quit Hatton may not get a unanimous decision. Not to mention that he might lose. 2nd, his conditioning did play out on the Pacquiao fight because he was knockout in the 2nd round not to mention that he was saved by the bell on the first round. His boxing skill is inferior to Mayweather and Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao lost 5 times already but he is still in the top 5 p4p and will soon replace Mayweather at number 1.

Well easy to say. Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao by middle round KO. Pac-Man would have been even stronger that time then the 1st fight they had.

Manny wins KO 2.

Does this really need an answer? Manny slaughters Hatton anywhere, any time and any place.

Posted April 15, 2014 11:29 am

To James Slater, news flash. Hatton NEVER was great. He was a good but limited fighter who was fortunate to face off against a pretty shopworn Tyszu who IS a Hall of a fame fighter. Hatton was exposed by Collazo when he was badly staggered by a relatively decent punch by Collazo. I knew it was a matter of time before he would be taken. Second, to the guy that says Manny shoulda left Top Rank, take the forty mil, the blood test, etc.. Get a life and stop being stupid. Where you been the last couple of years. There are no issues other than your guy saying in plain English he will not fight Pacquiao. Pacquiao called his bluff on EVERYTHING and his response has been silence since. Console yourself and get over it. dummy

I’m a huge hatton fan and was actually at the mayweather and pacman fight ! The only 2 times I’ve been to America and can say we got treated very well by all Americans we met and had a great time. Hatton is a hero of mine and was a great fighter who connected with the people but unfortunately his lifestyle outside the ring meant we never seen his full potentional but he was never on the same level as pacman or mayweather anytime in his career . That being said if he was fighting today no body beats him apart from them 2

Posted April 15, 2014 11:13 am

E-La Rock – that’s why Hatton Ducked Junior Witter… He kept spouting some Bull about not giving him a payday… more like he wanted to keep his 0.

Posted April 15, 2014 11:03 am

Hatton was massively massively over rated, his popularity deluded so many, good domestic / European fighter, a long long way off the elite. He laid 6 shots on Mayweather and Manny would have easily beaten the very best Ricky Hatton.

Posted April 15, 2014 10:59 am

I like Hatton, but why can’t he just accept that he wasn’t as good as Pacquiao? If he has to tell himself he was the very best in the world to maintain his self-esteem, he really needs to learn some humility.

Hatton was never, ever on Pacquiao’s level, nor on Mayweather’s, but there’s no shame in that: they are the greatest fighters of our era.

Kostya Tszyu wasn’t on Pacquiao’s level either, and was way past his prime when Ricky fought him. Indeed, he’d been out of the ring for two years so was rusty as hell.

But still, Hatton was one of the best in the world in his division, made enormous amounts of money, was fortunate enough to face two of the P4P greats of his era, and had perhaps the biggest army of travelling fans a boxer has ever had — fans who stayed loyal to him through thick and thin.

In short, Hatton needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and think about how lucky he is. If he needs something to help his self-esteem, he should use his wealth to help out people less fortunate than himself.

Haimat, I totally agree. The first time I saw him fight was against Tszyu, and I said that if this dude ever fought a good counterpuncher, he’d get KO’d. It almost happened against Collazo, and did happen against Mayweather and Pacman.

Posted April 15, 2014 10:50 am

Kostya Tzsyu would have also have destroyed Hatton in their prime

As per my previous post

Hatton was a Champion but a Prime Tzsyu will be known as one of the Greatest Light Welters of All Time

Sorry Ricky, but that is a fact

Posted April 15, 2014 10:48 am

Ricky is the most overrated fighter of recent times. Bully who was 0-3 at Welter where he couldn’t push his opponent around.

When the title of your article refers to Ricky “the wrestler” Hatton, as The Great Ricky Hatton, you have zero credibility.

Pacquiqo is going to say the same about Mayweather, what if I didn’t resign with TR, what if I took blood test, what if I didnt fight Marquez 4 times, like this article it doesn’t matter, Floyd beats Pac anyday anytime.

Manny Pacquaio would have demolished Ricky Hatton at any point of their respective careers
Don’t get me wrong Ricky was a fine Champ and a hero to many people

Pacquaio on the other hand
will be remembered in the history books alongside the Willie Peps and the Sugar Ray Robinsons of the sport,
A modern legend who would have destroyed all before him in any era of boxing, 20’s , 60’s , 80’s it doesn’t matter

That is the difference
