Thank you Hidalgo, I miss that show for some reason. I don’t know if this is a trend but quite a few fighters have left Roach under similar circumstances. I can understand Roach’s attention to Manny since that is his bread and butter; however, once Manny retires, what other fighter are left in the Gym. I wish Vanes would had fought Canelo some time back; it would had been a great fight.

“Vanes is tough as snails but I don’t know what happened to him? In his last fight, he was not throwing any punches and in his fight with Lara, they both look like they were slow dancing.” – Cosign. I’ve been a fan of Vanes’ since watching him at the 2004 Olympics. He always fought with passion but seems to have been sleepwalking lately. Could be burnout after 10 years grinding as a pro and not getting his title shot until now. Sometimes if dudes marinate for too long they stagnate.

Oh and forgot the Andrada fight

before leaving Freddy though he was offered fights and he never took them because he was sitting on his ranking. Heck all those fights I didn’t realize he actually fought. The only fights I remember is the one against Joe Green I believe, there was one other one he finished quickly I believe and then the draw with Lara.

Dimelo73, Vanes answered your question on Joe Herron’s show a couple of weeks ago. He did not have Freddie Roach in his corner for his fight with Andrade. He said his corner wasn’t telling him what to do, and he didn’t know what to do. He said he felt “lost” against Andrade. After that fight he dropped Roach as his trainer and hired Joe Goosen to replace him because he said Freddie didn’t have time for him because he spends so much time with Manny Pacquiao. Vanes promised we will see a much better version of him in his next fight.

Get back on the horse and let see where you are; then, lets see world title. I hope he comes to fight on Friday.

Well Peej, Vanes fought three times in 2010 and 2011 and two times in 2012 and 2013. Two fights a year is pretty much the same number of fights all the fighters at his level fight per year. Additionally, Vanes was going through changes. He left Freddie Roach after his last fight and his next fight will be his first with Joe Goosen.

Problem with Vanes was he kept sitting on his ranking. That is why he was so inactive.

Joe Goosen is a good trainer. He builds close bonds with his fighters and treats them like they are family. Vanes will get back on track and win another title. Probably within the next year if he gets the fights that he needs and wants.

Martirosyan has been around too long with little activity. Same boat as Andre Dirrell, and maybe Andre Ward, if he doesn’t start fighting more.

Pretty good FNF card. Notice they’re getting better after an awful first two months of the year.
