“u should all shut the hell up if u dont know what youre talking about. i know stevenson and he’s just going to massacre kovalev. Montréal bb!” – MTL you’re a good fan of local boxers but unless you’re employed by Stevenson you don’t know any more about his plans than we do. And fact is Kovalev repeatedly called him out postfight while he appeared quite reluctant. I do hope they fight but until it’s signed am presuming they won’t.

Shumenov cannot beat Bhop and certainly not the two big bangers.

Also, have you ever done something wrong in your life? It seems you haven’t by the way you’re talking. Maybe the difference is that u aint got caught? Or nobody knows what youve done? If not you belong on a list of catholic saints my friend. Are u christian? Because i’m a christian and i learned that if you accept Jesus in your life, he won’t turn you down, i promise you. Get it right. The guys you talked about all paid for their sins in jail. bernard was in jail at 17 and he never went back. Stevenson has done 4 years at 20…. so iask u this… Who are you to judge a man who has done his time?

republican hey? haha. Shumenov is trash my friend. go on youtube to see it with your eyes. he sucks! not even close to being a threatto any of these other guys. hes not even a top ten fighter in my book. Come on and be serious now.

you guys know nothing about Stevenson. i know for a fact that he doesnt even see kovalev as his biggest challenge. he couldnt care less about facing him. there will be 3 fights for stevenson in 2014,and one of them is against kovalev. they are actually preparing the fight already with Main Event. so u should all shut the hell up if u dont know what youre talking about. i know stevenson and he’s just going to massacre kovalev. Montréal bb! youll all hear about me when just he does it and ill be laughing my way to the bookie for my money!

IMO Shumenov is a light heavyweight version of Provodnikov. Decent hand speed and power, relies on pressure but doesn’t have one punch KO power. That could work against Bhop depending on what’s in the tank and with his solid jaw he might upset Stevenon. But Kovalev has better skills, the footwork to offset Shumenov’s pressure and he can punch from any angle — with power.

Yama Bahama

Kovalev KTFO of all of them! Even slick Bernie.

exciting division if the top guys fight each other. kovalev will probably be avoided by Stevenson and the Hopkins sideshow.

Shumenov should fight something in between first. Get a test in Europe with Zsolt Erdei in Germany. They could sell the fight well here.

Swedish Boxing Fan

Bernard Hopkins vs. Beibut Shumenov – WBA/IBF/IBA unification match = Hopkins as winner by close UD.

Adonis Stevenson vs. Sergey Kovalev – Lineal/WBC/WBO unification match = Stevenson by UD or late TKO.

Beibut Shumenov vs. Sergey Kovalev – World title eleminator match = Kovalev by middle rounds KO.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Adonis Stevenson – Unified/Undisputed light heavyweight championship of the world (Lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/IBA) = Hopkins winner by close SD.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev – Unified/Undisputed light heavyweight championship of the world (Lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/IBA) = Hopkins winner by close UD.

Now all this is very wishfull thinking BUT I will wish for this fights to happen with the same outcomes of the fights :-)
It would be awsome to see a 49 year old Bernard Hopkins, against all odds pull all this off.

I want to see Shumenov-Kovalev.
It will serve as an intense fight.

Shumenov has a good chance of getting two belts as Hopkins wants absolutely nothing with Stevenson or Kovalev. There’s a match up. Now we know from Stevensons last post fight interview he wants nothing to do with Kovalev, but would bravely take on smaller guys like Froch or Ward. Kovalev is left out in the cold because he is the true No.1 LHW and they ALL fear him.

Only way dude will become undisputed light heavyweight champ is thru kokalev or stevenson. Just cant see that happening!

No matter what kind of bout Shumenov was “waiting” for, he should have been fighting regularly over the last 18 months.

Posted January 7, 2014 6:52 pm

Shumenov is the real deal for someone reason (jealousy), others don’t give him enough credit as the story states who he has fought in just 15 fights is very impressive compared to who others fought in their 1st 15 fights. Everyone who is on the Campillo bandwagon, I bet you most of you never even watched that fight but just go off what is written on the internet. I watched their first fight online and Shumenov won the 1st fight and I had Shumenov winning the 2nd fight 115-113. He is the only one in the division that has tried to unify, not his fault Braehmer ran out of town 3 days before the fight and Cleverly was too chicken to fight him in Vegas.

Shumenov has been calling out Bhop thus far. If he really wants to unify the 300 lb gorilla in the room is Kovalev who has has few takers with Stevenson already swerving away. If Shumenov really wants to unify the opportunity is there. We’ll see…

Well undisputed means three more belts and so three more fights (let’s not even mention the task of having to actually BEAT Hopkins, Stevenson and Kovalev) so factoring in the regularity with which Shumenov fights and I’d say he could have the division wrapped up by 2017.

Posted January 7, 2014 5:40 pm

Some day Shumenov ought to fight Cleverly in the “Battle of the Brains.”

Posted January 7, 2014 5:34 pm

Well that makes Shumenov and Kovalev who have stated their intentions, why not get those two to unify if Hopkins and Stevenson want to hold on to their belts a little longer.

slim prickman

hype at its best.

Prof Konje

There are three people (other champions) standing in the way of his dreams and we all know who they are. If he couldn’t outbox Campillo, how does he expect to outbox Hopkins????

Posted January 7, 2014 4:36 pm

I like the guy

Posted January 7, 2014 4:00 pm

Shumenov is straight up trash. Go lose to Campillo again.

Posted January 7, 2014 3:59 pm

Well we all know who he has to beat…make this fight happen then!!!
