Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Bayless is DEFINITELY a pro-FMJ referee! This means that he’s going to allow FMJ to employ all his dirty-boxing and MMA-style grappling tactics (i.e, excessive holding, clinching, over hooks and under hooks — that he uses to tie up one arm — pushing down on the back of Canelos head/neck, shoving and striking with his elbows and forearms, and sucker punching off the breaks).

If you don’t believe me, go to YouTube and watch: “Mayweather Jr Exposed!!!” and “Mayweather Jr Exposed 2 !!!”

These are MUST SEE videos for all REAL boxing fans. Whether you love Floyd or hate him. If you refuse to watch these videos and learn the TRUTH, then you’re just another FMJ nut-hugging fan-boy. And the TRUTH is that FMJ is every bit as dirty in the ring as as B-Hop, if not more so. Real talk!

I see Tark making excuses and writing BS narratives.. Ie Bayless is gonna make Canelo lose… NOOOOO Canelos gonna lose because he’s just not as FAST nor skilled as Floyd Mayweather.. When he try’s to open up he’s gonna get served and Bayless ain’t gonna be the issue..

It’s Me, Ernie

I like holding myself often…

Posted September 9, 2013 9:45 am

Damn Tark, you must despite many boxers who use the hold as a tactic.

Jack Johnson, Gene Tunney, Jack Dempsey even used it which is where Tyson got it from, Ali, Lennox Lewis, Ricky Hatton, Wladimir Klitschko,

Can’t stand holding myself.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

TJ: Thanks man, I respect your opinions as well.

But I’m not exactly sure what you meant by saying, “… ARUM will not let Floyd face Bradley if he is not prepared to let Pac face him.” Please clarify.

Posted September 8, 2013 8:37 pm

And I’m a Floyd fan. Have been long before he put on those shades and diamond watches. But I realize where he is at at this stage of his career and who he is going up against. Some will downplay Canelo just in case he loses so they can continue to discredit Floyd. Others will brush Canelo’s ability aside because they still have “milk” in their eyes from dreaming about Floyd.

Canelo is dangerous. People were more honest about it before this fight was even made back when people said Floyd would duck him and for good reason.

Posted September 8, 2013 6:34 pm

Cotto roughed him up against the ropes and Canelo is much better overall than Cotto with his combination ability: Faster, a bit more powerful, and mixes up those punches so well its hard to deflect them all. That’s why Trout was trying to move away from him. Lopez was destroyed by not being mobile enough. And unlike Trout, Floyd, like Lopez, have that smaller frame body. That’s what would worry me with Floyd. How is he going to fight this fight and that age factor.

Other than that, Floyd should win because he is overall more skilled. But I’m just saying it all does catch up to the older fighters even if they are smarter and more skilled. A Young Gun with good skills with size comes along and takes them out.

Floyd’s gotta move like his Daddy would want him to. It’s no time to be brave.

Win this fight, look good in the next one. George Benton.

Posted September 8, 2013 6:31 pm

I think that is the only chance is for Canelo to win is to KO him. He most definitely does but then what makes you think is that he has fought 140 and 147 pound fighters his whole career and he hasn’t been able to stop them all. Floyd is above all those fighters he has fought. But he most definitely has that power. If he was able to put Trout down he can put Floyd down also.

Posted September 8, 2013 4:56 pm

That would be some sight seeing Money taking a pounding against the ropes, he’s better stay mobile.

Posted September 8, 2013 4:45 pm

Do you fella’s think Canelo has the power to KO Floyd?
that’s something that hasn’t been discussed to much?,I think he has but it would have to be right on the button, easier said than done.

Posted September 8, 2013 3:59 pm

your a dildo peej

Posted September 8, 2013 3:42 pm

Yeah Bradley is also pretty cut and still makes the weight. I just think sometimes when looking at someone saying where else can they lose weight from. I guess that is because I don’t have a six pack. Closest think I have had is like a 4 pack. And that was only when I hadn’t eaten yet and did a lot of cardio.

Posted September 8, 2013 3:11 pm

On All Access last night, Canelo looked to be in great shape.
He took the fight at 152 and willl be ready.
Floyd will have to be focused for 12 straight rounds.
Very tough flight and I’m predicting a Floyd loss by controversy.
Canelo will get credit for the flurries and will land some huge shots.
Floyd, in my mind, will have done enough to win, but Canelo’s style is so pleasing that I think the judges go with him.

i omitted peej from that list forgive me. he is on the BB list. lol

Posted September 8, 2013 12:35 pm

Canelo to me already looks cut and I just don’t see where he can lose that weight. But I have seen fighters like that before and make weight just fight. So I am thinking he will do the same thing. I don’t think it will hamper him at all and he has already stated the weight is not an issue. If it is and comes to that, there will be a rematch at and I am pretty sure the weight will be at 154. I am just really looking forward to this fight though. Already got my Floyd vs Canelo shirt. So I am set.

Posted September 8, 2013 12:09 pm

If Canelo is struggling with weight, why would he still be fighting at 154? He made weight just fine last time out as well as the last three times where he came in lighter.

Canelo just needs to learn how to train right, how to eat right, and how to stay relaxed during fights. Stop throwing full power shots each time out because that’s how you burn out quick as Larry Holmes once talked about with regards of some power punchers.

He needs to adjust his mindset of throwing like Marciano ended up doing as he matured into a fighter. He understood later on that 75% of your power at a higher rate is more lethal that 100% power shots that are thrown less and wear you out quicker.

Posted September 8, 2013 12:07 pm

Damn, Canelo is going to make the weight just fine. I thought he would be a lot higher.

You can piss and sweat out 6 pounds within no time and the rehydration process is no problem.

It’s the 15 pound decrease and then increase in weight that has me worried with boxers.

Posted September 8, 2013 12:04 pm

Floyd will be at a hydrated optimum weight at weigh in,there’s no discussion there he will be firing on all cylinders.

Posted September 8, 2013 11:42 am

Canelo who already struggles to make 154 will have no doubt weakened himself to a certain degree, I wish it was at 154 so there wasn’t all the controversy over the weight issues and we could concentrate on the tactics of the fight instead of this, If he has weakened himself too much he WILL lose for sure, that goes without saying.

Posted September 8, 2013 11:40 am

Canelo weighed 172 against Trout but his previous fights he came in at or around 167

Canelos weight will beat him, before Mayweather wins on points.

Jim Rich

Um I think Canelo will lose the weight and then rehydrate to 223lbs and bum rush mayweather like vin diesel on steroids.

Posted September 8, 2013 5:14 am

Martin “El Bruchador” Honorio

Mayweather is laughing his ass of when he read this news. Now, he knows at fight night, there’s no way Canelo’s gonna catch him. He will lack stamina in later rounds, where he (Floyd) can potshot him to death for a boring split decision. Mayweather is like– “My plan is coming through! Hahahahaha! “. If anyone here thinks that Mayweather-Guerrero is boring, wait till you see this one! Not even a jug of fresh Brazilian coffee will prevent you from sleeping to this fight. Guaranteed!

Posted September 8, 2013 4:38 am

PBF is not stupid and Canelo is not a 154 pound fighter which you seem to forget he will show up on fight night weighing 173 you don’t seem to have any problem with that I see.

Posted September 8, 2013 4:23 am

Mick the Marmalizer

This fight should never have been made @ 152Lb. It’s for the light-middleweight championship of the World which is traditionally contested @ 154Lb. PBF held the WBA version of the title which he fought for @ 154, so what’s the problem? This is to decide who’s #1 in the division & compramise’s should not be made.

Posted September 8, 2013 4:19 am

Primo anyone who’s a light heavy weight fighting at 154 should be confident. Canelo is confident he will ballon up to 173 coming in at light heavy on fight night. That is all he has going for him. If canelo fought at the correct weight Ward, Froch, Kessler, tripe G, etc would knock him out Canelo would be a sparring partner for those guys.

Posted September 8, 2013 4:00 am

Canelo is on point, this kid has displayed amazing poise and a supremely collected demeanor. For such a young kid it is amazing, it speaks leaps and bounds of how seasoned this kid is at such a young age. After watching tons of interviews and watching All Access there is no doubt that this kid is 100% ready for Mayweather…..and Floyd knows it. Throughout this entire build up stemming from the extensive press tour in no way shape or form did Floyd get under Canelo’s skin. That right there is the beginning of the story of what’s going to unfold on Sept 14th. Floyd’s biggest weapon are his mind games and it has payed dividends all along until now. Canelo is a calm, cool and collected individual and he has has been the complete opposite of Mayweather’s abnoxious and usual antics only this time it didn’t work. Canelo will beat Mayweahther no doubt about it.

Posted September 8, 2013 2:57 am

Mr Williams

I think the plan is to come in overweight also, but I don’t think it’ll matter if he lunges at Floyd all off balance like he did w/ Trout. If he does I think Floyd can put him away by KO. It’s boxing so I aways believe Floyd’s opponents have a shot because they have hands.

Posted September 8, 2013 2:12 am

i still hope canelo just comes in at 154lbs

Posted September 8, 2013 1:51 am

lightning fast mayweather” ….. yeah maybe against guerrero. not so speedy against wore out cotto and gonna look really bad against canelo who is fast. u think mayw gonna be lightning fast against this canelo man your in for a rude awakening. canelos FAST

Please, make the weight Alverez, it just makes the fight easier for Floyd. Floyd by a thin UD or SD.

Posted September 8, 2013 1:36 am

Alvarez is gonna make weight, it’s the biggest fight of his life he’s not stupid and I’m sure Oscar will talk 5 pounds off him saying “the jab” for hours on end…!

Posted September 8, 2013 12:40 am

Here we go with the BS of course Canelo does not weigh 154, 7 days out he has been shedding water and rehydrating to have advantage over his opponents for awhile what’s New??? Another Hack writer has decided that he’s “extra thin” we’ll let’s ask this if 154 is “his division” then he would still have 3 1/2 pounds to lose… Sooooooo either Alvarez is a 154 pounder or he’s not? No matter it’s his problem and all the excuses in the world won’t save him when the lightening fast Mayweather is ringing his bell… This is Glorious !!! Canelo has been facing smaller fighters via this method for years what’s new? Hatton, Lopez, Cotto (Jose Miguel) Gomez… The boy had better make weight or that penalty is gonna cost him MORE than Lamborghini money… LMAO

Posted September 8, 2013 12:38 am

von Pugsly

I agree that Canelo should make weight. I doubt he beats Mayweather, though. I’ll be happy if it’s a competitive fight. I’m tired of watching Mayweather befuddle guys in there. Some drama would be nice.

i think canelo will make weight and win

Posted September 8, 2013 12:12 am

If Canelo comes makes the152 he is going to get an ass whooping….if he can’t make the weight he is going to get a DOUBLE ass whooping… Money and by having to pay MONEY more money! He can’t win! Easy money for Floyd!

Posted September 8, 2013 12:10 am

TMT weight strategy has failed. Team Canelo is taking weight off gradually making sure power and most of all Canelo greater strength his size stays. They did not focus on weight but size to beat mayweather. Canelo is going to punished Mayweathet body all night, and when his body is gone the head will be open for a KO.

Mean mug

Floyd will lose. The jig is up.

Posted September 7, 2013 10:45 pm

If canelo comes to the scale overweight, canelo will be given time to drop the weight. Even if that means if he has to go into the night of the fight to make weight, then that what will happen. They simply just pay the fine and say forget it. That was reported on the left hook lounge earlier this week.

Posted September 7, 2013 10:43 pm

1) Last fight canelo was just over 153 – so he is REALLY struggling, lol.

2) You’re blind if you think that kid weighs 6-8 lbs more than the taller, even broader backed (and not even thin legged) Ortiz – come fight night. 3) Look at his physique in clothes. At 5 7 1/2 he’d look like a stocky bodybuilder at anywhere near a natural LHW weight! 4) You can go on about a 25lb difference all year long. NO WAY IN HELL is Canelo over TWO STONE heavier than Mayweather! You can see that when they stood next to each other at the green screen.

Canelo will clearly come in light (try 166 ish ) for PBF as speed will be VERY important. Stop peddling this weight

Posted September 7, 2013 10:28 pm

For $41+ million, I doubt that Floyd will walk away even if Canelo is 160 pounds.

Posted September 7, 2013 9:08 pm

going on my last post my prediction is this canelo/gbp never had any intentions on making 152lbs. because if canelo weighs in at 154 he loses 2 million ( out of a 10 million purse) but stands to gain a whole lot more if he wins. if mayweather walks because canelo is 2 lb over he loses a 60 million payday!!!!! leonard ellerbe you mocked canelos mangement for agreeing 152lbs but you have been served!!

Posted September 7, 2013 9:05 pm

Gotta love it.. people on here talk like they’ve been in the Alverez fight camps.. how does anyone really know how hard he trys to make weight? He looked just fine at 53 for trout, one more pound is not gonna hurt, little sauna time and weigh in naked.. no problem.. People act as if he llooks like chavez jr does making 160..

Posted September 7, 2013 9:03 pm

Perhaps he should fight middle or super middle instead of fighting guys 20lbs lighter than him.

Nobody knows whats on the contract, its confidential, and Its possible that if he doesnt make the weight, it could state that in the contract he would have to hand the victory over, thats just my assumption though.

If he weighed in at 157.4 where is the pictures of him at that weight?

Posted September 7, 2013 8:12 pm

Does anybody know what the penalty is in the contract for not making weight? Coz I’m starting to think that Canelo should just get to 154 and call it day… I can’t see Mayweather pulling out based on that (especially if it’s true that Canelo’s management offered the catchweight in the first place)

Canelo looked great at the Trout weigh in and he was 153 1/2. Now at 157 he looks “painfully skinny” and “his head looks too big for his body” give me a break what an a## clown this writer is.

Posted September 7, 2013 7:50 pm

“But TOO BAD for him that the weight is irrelevant. ”

W-R-O-N-G! The weight is very relevant. If it wasn’t relevant, Mayweather would have jumped right up and said he’d fight him at 154. But Sr. wanted 147 and Jr. wanted 150. It’s going to be at 152. Yeah, dum dum. Weight is very relevant in this fight.

Posted September 7, 2013 7:34 pm

Canelo Alvarez will have a BIG problem making 152 pounds. He has to kill himself to make 154. The weight will be an issue. I guarantee it. Canelo vs Trout weighed 153 1/2, Canelo vs Josesito Lopez weighed 154 and Canelo vs Shane Mosely weighed 154. You’re talking about 2 more pounds. Yes, after dehydrating himself, taking laxatives and not eating, he can probably make it, but it’s going to cost him when he steps into the ring as most of you have witnessed his stamina problems. Getting down to 152 will definitely weaken him in those later rounds especially if it’s a fast paced fight. And once he puts on another 15-20 pounds, his body will have problems adjusting. Trust me on this. Seeing him weigh in yesterday, he looks skinny and sunken in a little. I can imagine Canelo at 152. This may have taken away his chance at winning. Canelo and his camp need to be smart and come in at 154 and pay the fine. Otherwise, he’s in trouble and will be stopped.

Posted September 7, 2013 7:23 pm

YES!!!!!! canelo needs to weigh 154!!!!!!!!! exactly what i wanted. come out and say it aint about the money son! im kickin that ASS!!!!!! saul fireworks alvarez one of the most exciting boxers fighting today if not the most exciting!

Posted September 7, 2013 7:07 pm

Well GOOD for Canelo. Floyd made weight on the DAY that the Fight was announced. SO that wasn’t an issue… Canelo is almost there. But TOO BAD for him that the weight is irrelevant. Will he be able to measure UP to Floyd’s SKILLS, Boxing IQ, and SPEED is what’s relevant. He may be able to say YES to 2 of the 3 but he definitely won’t be competitive in the SPEED department. And that’s why he’ll take the LOSS.

Posted September 7, 2013 7:03 pm

I see Canelo making weight but not the first time, he will come back later and make weight. When he steps into the ring he will weigh about 166, Floyd by way of MD.

Posted September 7, 2013 6:17 pm

CANELO only has to make weight for 30 seconds at some point on the weigh-in next Friday, which he will do…. He is only 23 years old and his body will recover quickly. it will only be a real issue once he hits his late 20s/ early 30s…..

Chavez Jnr has had to cut far more and his method of rehydrating has seemed to work and keep him vey strong over 12 rounds…. Just ask RUBIO and MARAVILLA….

ANYWAY, this is my prediction of the CANELO figt plan for September 14th.
People will laugh and think it crazy, but it’s the only one that makes any sense to me….

CANELO will NOT go for broke against Floyd…. The reason is Floyd excels against guys tha try and either chase him down or try to throw loads of punches aainst him….

CANELO will try to out-Floyd Floyd….. TARK is correct that he used the NO DOUBT bout to try and test his fight plan in this vs Floyd. We hardly saw any combination punches from CANELO….

I studied certain rounds and what he did was try to draw Trout onto him and counter is leads…. He will try the same vs Floyd and try the patient counter- punching style, trying to make Floyd lead and stepping back enough to try to land counters, whilst employing an offensive/defensive jab….

This will be a technical bout, but something tells me the plan is to throw Floyd by making him think they will go for him, whereas they will try to frustrate Floyd to the point where he second-guesses CANELO’S next move/moves…..

I can’t see CANELO winning any other way….. If he is weak at the weight he will only be able to fight in spurts as he conserves his energy…

If he elects to walk Floyd down he TOO will take heavy punishment as he tries to get close and busy enough to take the rounds…..Floyd may be many things, but when his back is against he wall he is extremely spiteful…..

ODLH is correct n the fact that an educated jab will play a part for whoever wins this bout, but I personally doubt this will be a seek and destroy mission, rather an exhibition of pure boxing from both…..

I see CANELO looking to steal a lead after 5 and then digging in and trying to keep Floyd at bay over the mid- late rounds….

Whether he can do it remains to be seen, but throwing and missing so many heavy punches over the first half is a recipe for defeat IMHO.

Posted September 7, 2013 6:06 pm

I believe Canelo will make 152.. He’ll be very strong for the fight.. The idea that he’s painfully thin weighing in at 157.4 and looking like he’s going to keel over and die is wishful thinking by this pundit … He’s got a full week to go and has been carving off the weight gradually.

He’s a big kid but he made 154 for Trout and fought a hard 12… If he can make 154 he can make 152… Not a big deal.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Actually, FMJ walks around at about 160lbs in the off-season when he’s months away from a fight and not in training camp. This is of course a closely-guarded secret that his team tries to keep away from the media.

His strategy is to ride the fence in between WW and Jr. MW so he can cherry-pick fights from both weight-classes and play the sport and fans like a toy drum. Can any of you guys claiming FMJ is a 147lbs fighter, and too small for Jr. MW, explain why he hasn’t even been able to UNIFY all the major WW Titles??? Didn’t think so. Why doesn’t he ever talk about fighting Bradley? Why did he just tell the media that he’ll NEVER fight PacMan?

In reality, FMJ is definitely big enough to fight at 154lbs and definitely big enough to fight natural Jr. MWs like Maravilla — who FMJ ducked for years. He’s also big enough to fight 3G and Lara at 154lbs, but will DUCK both of those guys too — if he’s able to get past Canelo. Real talk!

Posted September 7, 2013 4:27 pm

You know I respect you, but DESERT STORM is a ROB ARUM guy and therefore, ARUM will not let Floyd face Bradley if he is not prepared to let Pac face him.

Hope that answers your question.

BTW I feel that after his war with PROVODNIKOV, Desert may never be the same fighter again. He took some hellacious punishment on the back of a pummelling from Pac…. I feel DINAMITA will get the win when they meet…. He may even blow out the STORM in a competitive, entertaining scrap!

Posted September 7, 2013 5:14 pm

I’m having a hard time not losing respect for the sport of boxing these days. With all the hype over this fight, we all know Floyd is obviously running scared from Pacman. When in the history of boxing has a fighter so blatantly avoided someone that everyone claims was his biggest threat and still received such high accolades? Never!! Even Floyd’s uncle said that he feared that Floyd would not only lose, but could actually be killed by Pacman (Of course he blamed it on the ruse of roids). Now, Floyd says he will never fight Pacman, even though it would make him more money by far than any other match-up. That says it all!! Instead, Floyd hand picks a guy who is really slow, compared to Pacman and will probably just make Canelo look like a human punching bag. All Floyd’s misled fans will rejoice, all the while ignoring the huge white elephant in the room. The same elephant that Floyd will always know kept him from truly being the greatest of his era.

Agree totally with the earlier posters who said canelo should come in overweight and pay the fine. Ordinarily I would be against this, but due to Floyd pulling the same stunt with marquez, I say that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Canelo is on track to make the weight… He’s not going to enter the ring at 172 for this fight… Austin Trout is a huge, tall 171-pound jr middleweight, and Canelo needed to be just as big and strong.

Floyd is a little guy.. Trout can cut weight for 10-million dollars.. probably at least 15-million for his share the way the PPV is going.. If they didn’t think 152 was possible they wouldn’t have agreed to it.

Canelo will probably enter the ring at no more than 168, be lightning fast, super strong and durable, and ready to bring the heat for 36 minutes of spine tingling action.

Real talk!

It’s absolute bs if canelo can’t make the weight he shouldn’t have taken the fight he’s only getting the pay day off floyds name people saying floyd stipulating too many rules is crazy canelo is huge compared to him and will still lose if he can’t make the weight then fight somebody else

5.4 pounds is a huge amount to lose if you have already lost 20 pounds and are dehydrating yourself. I bet there is a stipulation in the contract that if he doesn’t make the weight flood will get a huge chunk of his purse.

Thats what happens when a chicken s light heavy weight is too afraid to fight in his own weight class so he listens to cross dressing ODH and trys to pick on smaller 154 pound fighters Canelo is a punk Ward, AA, Froch, Triple G, etc would own his a if he fought at the correct weight division. Weigh in should be on fight night said and done.

5.4 lbs. Of weight is nothing for a boxer. It only takes a couple of hrs to lose that. Only people who’ve put the gloves on know it can b done easily especially with a week left. No worries.

arroyo bob

hes 3.4 lbs over the jr. middleweight limit which should be the contracted weight. Two weaklings! One for insisting the other for agreeing.

Canelo should be fighting middleweight, dude struugles to make 154lbs. Let alone 152 for this fight, I heard he accually walks around at 175 or better, Floyd never weights much over 147lbs even when not training,,,

funny how theres no mention that Mayweather is still over the limit too

My guess is that Canelo will show-up at 154 pounds and claim that this is for the junior middle weight belt and junior middle weight is 154 so he has a right to show-up at 154.

When Mayweather did the same thing to Juan Manuel Marquez, Mayweather backed it up and won. Everybody forgot about the weight. So, I understand.

But I don’t agree in either case. Floyd should have showed up at the appropriate weight for Marquez. And Canelo should show up at the appropriate weight for Floyd.

Making 152 could well keep Canelo from performing anywhere near his potential, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he chose to relinquish his titles rather than have no chance of winning the fight. Besides, beating Money will bring him wealth far beyond what any belt/title would. Just to be clear, I still believe that Floyd will win (I cannot see how Canelo can beat Money), but if Canelo does manage victory, I won’t be upset (it’ll guarantee a rematch in short order at the least).

Canelo and ODH called out floyd, they didn’t have to fight him,if they cant make weight they shouldnt have agreed to 152 or any weight, there rolling the dice and getting a massive payday out of it.Floyd will box his ears off and the weight drained excuses will follow.Canelo is over hyped and in over his head,a n other easy night for floyd.

he not even at his regular weight limit for jr middle weight stop making excuses if he is having problems making weight then he has always this issue trying to advantage

Bobby Con

Canelo is eating to much Cinnabons !

Posted September 7, 2013 3:21 pm

Just pay the fine like Floyd did against Marquez and keep the advantage.

Posted September 7, 2013 3:16 pm

Canelo and his camp should have never agreed to that weight loss. He looks too skinny and he will be weakened by fight time. Pay the fine and come in at 154.

These are the unfair advantages Mayweather ensures he has over his opponents. Don’t be fooled that he is taking on the bigger man, he is making sure to make him weak first!
