According to the Daily News newspaper, Morrisons mom says he died,”from full blown Aids,” ANYONE can contract it, so its BEST to wait for the right woman, marry her, “then” get BUSY!

the voice of reason — Your point is well made. However, it is not unreasonable to see a man as a man — as a father, a brother, a son, a carpenter, a Deacon, a volunteer, a cancer survivor and more. And likewise, it is not unreasonable to see Morrison as a man who was also a fighter. He certainly has a legacy as a fighter and that legacy might be very different than the legacy he created for himself as a man. In my opinion there is nothing wrong per se in reflecting on both when a fighter dies.

It was AIDS/HIV why are the drs lying.

Posted September 7, 2013 5:54 am

AIDS drugs are very expensive, maybe Morrison would rather die young than old and impoverished.

Buba, morrison didnt even have 5000 between him snd his girl to get outa jail s few yesrs ago, so I highly doubtt he was doing as much coke as u claim. Tommys aids was a killer but his will to live was gone aswell. Tommy could never come to terms about all the money he lost, that could have ben a retirment for him and his family. His come back didnt happen and he list all hope. It ben proven a person will to survive is very powerful.

I’m not sure why this subject is worth any media reports, No AIDs mentioned on the Death Certificate means……. Morrison may have had AIDS or he might not have…….. in other words nothing!
Rather like if someone died in a car crash from head injuries……the Death Cerificate would list the head injury as the cause of death, but it would make no mention that they didn’t wear a seat belt.

Whatever the stated cause was, it’s no doubt a byproduct of AIDS.

the voice of reason — I understand your compassion and your reasoning. However I would encourage you to recognize that Tommy was not alone in denying that HIV/AIDS exists. The great tragedy happening is for those in denial — they are signing their own death sentences. So I would suggest to you that other things DO MATTER that you might not be considering. Tommy was in denial. His family lost him young because of his denial. Perhaps it matters that they speak out against HOIV/AIDS denial groups so others do not have to repeat the tragedy. If the voice of Tommy’s family could reach only one man or woman living in denial, then perhaps a life could be spared. And I think that matters.

Yes He died, because of aids destroying his immune system. He’s still lucky. Because we all gone die of something. When he got his diagnosis he still had many years to live. Others are not so lucky when diagnosed. Like Leuekimia, liver cancer, lung, prostate, colon you may last a few months sometimes weeks. Thats what Im scared of! Not Hiv.

HIV/AIDS denial is a tragedy. Today treatment is available. Without treatment it is a death sentence. Morrison’s family has a great opportunity to be of great service to humanity by speaking out on the dangers of HIV/AIDS denial. They have an opportunity to SAVE LIVES! I pray that they do not squander this opportunity.

Even in death Tommy’s family is being delusional. Sure he was a good boxer in his day but this will be greatly overshadowed by how he selfishly put others at risk.

He had AIDS imo, and they should have done an auptopsy, because it would be relevant if he has been sleeping with a lot of women.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:50 am

He had AIDS and put other fighters at risk by being in denial. Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Septicemia is contracted by those with autoimmune disorders like AIDS. It’s sad to see him go, but you gotta protect yourself.

Does anyone know how two other fighters diagnosed around the same time as Morrision are currently doing – I am talking about Lamar Parks and Paul Banke?

the voice of reason

whether tommy really had the virus or not is not the f***ing issue – its a very sad day that this great man – a real powerhouse athlete – has died so young. On his day tommy was a beautiful boxer with a fabulous arsenal of punches – he fought and defeated some top-tier men – tillis, thomas, williams, ruddock, foreman etc – and right there that speaks volumes for just how good a fighter this man was. He was a brave and exciting boxer, who bounced back from two terrifying knockouts to go right to the top – defeats that would have crumbled lesser fighters. Remember him with the respect due

Tommy was a good kid. An all American boy. He had lots of heart. Rest in Peace Tommy. You gave it your all

So many show so much disrespect. How can anyone claim that Tommy had AIDS for certain? Are they doctors and did they do an autopsy? Judgement about something they know nothing about.

I remember Tommy in the big fight against Razor Ruddock! It was awesome, not only the fight, but the walk-in music! What a knockout!!! I do not judge Tommy about something I know, and could not possibly know about. I really don’t care what killed him, it’s a human life that has been lost. Life is short, live your own life while it lasts. Quit trying to live and judge someone other than yourself. Your death will come soon enough, perhaps tonight, tomorrow or 10 years from how.

Guys, no one dies of AIDS.

It’s always complications due to the lack of immune system derived from AIDS.

The report says nothing.

rest in peace Tommy

RIP – I enjoyed watching you fight

I don’t mean to be a naysayer on articles but this is kinda tasteless anyway for an article topic. I’m not sure of the mistake or moment that brought this illness on but That’s not really for me or I would think anyone else to discuss anyway. We’ll all have a final judgment, other than that the man was a good boxer and a human being that deserves a right to some level of privacy or at least decency.

may he rest in peace

terrible ending for Tommy

Posted September 5, 2013 9:21 pm

So sad Tommy was cremated “puff “once here and gone today. Life is precious

Posted September 5, 2013 9:20 pm

Seems people are so fast to forget that its not HIV/AIDS that kill you. its your compromised immune system that cant fight off disease as effectively anymore that kills you.

Posted September 5, 2013 8:52 pm

That’s exactly right. About the DC. If he had pneumonia because of his compromised immune system the certificate would read respiratory or pneumonia, etc…his health records would be where that info would be found

Posted September 5, 2013 8:32 pm

Old Yank

Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Septicemia is associated with about 50% of all deaths related to AIDS.

Posted September 5, 2013 7:29 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

And you know this how?…

Posted September 5, 2013 6:49 pm

He died of something that AIDS enabled him to catch. His immune system was weakened because of it, got really sick and died. Of course you’re not going to hear the truth.
