Going with Ruslan in this fight.

HIDALGO, where is the evidence for Provodnikov’s presumed “power”? he stunned and dropped Bradley but was unable to close the show despite catching Bradley with several flush-shots. even a pumped-up feather like Marquez has displayed more lethal power at welterish. i Do know that Alavarado can take the worst that Rios can deliver and still win. that’s enough for me to anticipate that he’ll be able to handle whatever Ruslan can deliver. IMO, the primary suspense and intrigue going into this bout is Provodnikov’s ability to handle Alvarado’s skills and power. i’ve seen little evidence of his ability to do either. taking flush-shots from Alvarado will be a Lot different from taking flush-shots from Bradley.

Provodnikov doesnt take body shots well. this will be a good fight.

te tumbo, I just don’t think Alvarado will be able to withstand Provodnikov’s power. It will definitely be another slugfest because that’s the kind of fight’s Arum likes to promote. Anyways, I think Mike will do well for a while, then Provodnikov will just overwhelm him with his power.

checking Provodnikov’s chin and jaw in the early rounds is definitely a part of Alvarado’s overall fight-plan. he’s a fighter who has faith in his punching power and it’s his natural instinct to react to openings and let his fists go. aside from his one loss to Rios, that fight-plan hasn’t let him down. IF Ruslan passes that test (and i’m skeptical) Alvarado will shift to his version of boxing, which still includes a lot of give-and-take exchanges. at that point, it becomes an even fight because i thing that they’re equal in the grit and stamina department. cuts may become a prominent factor. especially for Alvarado but i’m expecting that Ruslan won’t be able to weather the early storm and Alvarado will be able to take him out by TKO in the 8th round.
