A fiver on Kessler to win by KO – 5/1 odds, sounds good to me.

Man can’t wait for the fight today. Saw a rerun of the last fight last night and what a fight.
Hope you all have a great fight even though one of them must lose (most likely).

Good post MK, I do give Froch a 30% chance do to much stiffe competition even with a loss. ‘we saw this in the Bute fight. Kessler is spectacular shape which makes this dam fight even closer. Tough one to call but for the fans worth its weight in gold.

Let’s be honest, we can’t know exactly where these two fighters stand, what their strategies are, compared to each other, this is an exciting thing. What we see is the tip of the iceberg.

As a danish reporter said from London, today, most of the british experts back Froch victory, most of the danish experts back Kessler victory.

But they speak from their heart, and so do the people on this site. I don’t believe even Groves knows where Kessler really is, as he said so himself. He was injured and missed sparing before the Calzaghe fight, and came in almost too heavy, in the weigh in. This time he comes in as relaxed as a cat, lighter than Froch. We don’t really know, what it means. Thats exciting.

I still back a Kessler victory by KO, wthin 8 rounds, based on the people, who have watched him, day to day, up to this fight.

Posting with an iPhone is horrific. But unless I’m at work it’s all I have

Posted May 25, 2013 1:40 am

I want to say Kessler by UD or Froch by KO but I have no idea who will win. I think it will be a war

I agree Kessler was banged up during super six and needed the time recuperate. Whether it would have made any difference in the Ward fight is debatable. As much as I love Kessler and his style of boxing. He is at very least “slightly” past his prime, how far past we shall see shortly. He is competing, and competing well, against less battle damaged fighters in their PRIME. Turn back the hands of time to 2007 and Kessler in his full prime, he’s knocking todays Froch out cold. And at very least giving Ward a serious run for his money. No doubt he has learned some new tricks since fighting a VERY seasoned Calzaghe. But Kessler’s hand and foot speed have diminished significantly. I see it as a no lose fight for Kessler. He wins, he cements his legacy. He loses, well there could be a rubber match depending on the type of loss. And if not, he is losing to a younger fresher (albeit older) fighter in his prime, not an ounce of shame. Either way it will be no lose for the fight fans. And while the fight could easily go either way. I give Froch a slight edge, as he is strong and in his prime. And Kessler is slightly past it unfortunately.
But, my heart says Kessler by late stoppage or SD. I’ll gladly go down with a sinking Viking Warrior ship!

Largo, lol… That was hardly clear on my part. Man I’ll tell you, I’m not much of a typer or writer, But I sure hate what I write from my Iphone. It has a mind of it’s own… In any case, I agree with what you said… I’m looking forward to a good fight tomorrow, I just think Kessler is done, even though he says he’s at his best right now. I would like him to make me a believer though.. Catch you during the fight…

Knockout toof bringin troof

A few observations: Kessler seems to have the mental advantage as Froch has invited himself to be underdog; confessing that he’s “upset that Kessler is the man who gave him his first loss”. Kessler’s a totally healed fighter after dealing with several afflictions dating back to the Calzaghe fight, he’s finally back to 100%.

Speaking of Cazlaghe, I see people say: Ward this, ward that… The truth is that he is lucky Joe C is retired. No way ward’s dirty, cheating, mauling, headhunting style would beat Calzaghe. Ward would be a distant 2nd to Calzaghe. Ward IS better than Froch for sure. I think a healthy Kessler would give Ward fits in a rematch and possibly beat him.

the truth

can’t wait to see kesslers shocked expression staring up from the canvas, struggling to get to his feet and failing the count.. ahh yeah!

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

I like Kessler and hope he wins, but am going to predict that Froch wins by stoppage or UD. Should be one helluva fight though, regardless of who takes it.

TC, thank you for saying what i said in a more understandable & clear way…cheers.

Stonewall, good points, althouth it seems in the long run, the best and winingest fighters have never been the most exciting fighters. It’s kind of hard to knock them, if their they’ve found success in the ring, IMO.

Posted May 24, 2013 10:50 pm

the stonewall, your point is well-taken…i do think, however, that Ward is the type of fighter that, like Holmes, Whitaker, Hopkins, will conquer the public’s heart by winning again & again & again against elite opposition; Ward is a very special fighter whether we like it or not.

Posted May 24, 2013 10:37 pm

The Stonewall

As far as Ward goes, while I can admire his effectiveness as a boxing purist his style is as far from fan-friendly as it’s possible to get.

Did he beat both Kessler and Froch comfortably? Sure. Would I rather spend my money watching Froch fight Kessler than Ward fighting anyone? That’s an absolute no-brainer.

Here’s to a potential classic. Enjoy the fight one and all, whoever you are rooting for!

It doesn’t matter what Correctamundos pick is, he’ll be right regardless.

Posted May 24, 2013 9:32 pm

SRedmond, I agree with you for the most part. It is for “Second” but I wouldn’t call it “distant second.” After all who’s around at this time that could legitimately be rated higher? No matter, Ward will win his title back when he returns from his injury/surgery recuperation.

Posted May 24, 2013 9:08 pm

BTW, will the real Correctamundo please stand up? Tell me your prediction for the outcome of this fight and say something that I know only you would say. I will know it’s you.

Posted May 24, 2013 9:07 pm

Any remarks about either Froch or Kessler being comparable to Ward are mere fantasy…. Both men were turned into whiners and questioned where to go next after mixing it up with Ward… This is a fight for a DISTANT 2nd… The reason they are fighting again is because neither could make the point beyond all doubt… Something Ward did over BOTH during optimal times of their careers and when Ward was either giving up experience or Kessler and a fractured hand to Froch… If your smart, you’ll enjoy the bout to ensue and leave Ward alone in his throne… Wards and elite fighter, Kessler and Froch are very good fighters….

Posted May 24, 2013 9:06 pm

Froch has been talking smack because he’s nervous. We’ll see what happens. He said he’d KO Bute and he did. We’ll see how his pre-fight muster bears him out. Should be a great fight!

Posted May 24, 2013 9:05 pm

Prof Konje

The match-up appears to be about even and if there is an advantage it’s very slight. Froch appears to have fought the better competition, but it doesn’t really mean that much in the end. As I posted previously, I like both guys and can’t (won’t) pick a winner. The winners are the fans.

Posted May 24, 2013 7:56 pm

The famine is over, go home

Froch will be in there SAS style

Posted May 24, 2013 7:43 pm

So you are picking Kessler then?

Yeah, but the Bloodthirsty retards must’ve seen Froch nose and Kesslers eye…..Alone the 12th round makes it FOY in my book.

Fight Aficionado

I expect another sick rumble with Froch winning in the end. Their first fight was among the FOY candidates, which a lot of guys seemed to not acknowledge just because there were no knockdowns. That’s because they both have thick beards. Many others in the division would’ve gotten dropped. Both absorbed some hellacious blows.

And Kessler would draw a bigger crowd any day of the week….That’s a fact…..He may be no 1 but cares.

KILLING MOON` please stop acting like Wards not the Don Juan of this division

Hoping for Kessler to KO Froch Early.

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

Oh and last time I checked Ward was nothing as was the deal with Kessler when he was injured….Not that I want his name associated with this fight…Even though Ward himself and his handlers constantly try to….

Posted May 24, 2013 4:18 pm

Froch in an exciting match up..yup!

Posted May 24, 2013 4:17 pm

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

Sorry not to take anything away from Froch….But I never rated Bute that highly….He was champ….But very untested at the highest level…Still Froch destroyed him and should get props for exposing him….But he was hyped way above his skill-level.
