P.E. I appreciate your zeal, but Mikey is going to stop Lopez. He’ll do it late in the fight.

So JuanMa Threw a lucky punch vs Ponce Deleon and Danny Garcia threw a lucky punch vs Eric Morales but Marquez didn’t throw a lucky punch vs Paquiao because he’s a Mexican??? Now ain’t that just Dandy…

“anybody who says that Juan Manuel Marquez thew a lucky punch against Pac either doens’t know boxing whatsoever or just has his head up his ass…..or possibly both” Bingo!

Posted May 10, 2013 5:03 pm

Juanma is anything but a precision puncher, he throws wide looping punches leaving himself wide open for counters creating opportunities for any fighter with technique to capitolize on. He lacks defence and stamina which creates even wider looping shots as his fights wear on. We saw that against Mtgawa and Salido. Actually Salido did Lopez a favor because Gamboa would have plain taken his head off. The fight with Ponce was basicly two guys relying mostly on power and no defense so that was just a matter of time before some got ko’d. Ponce actually throws even wider puches because of his straight up stance swinging his punches from the outside like a club making Lopez’ looping punches look like he was sharp shooting.
You read some of the craziest nonsense on this blog, anybody who says that Juan Manuel Marquez thew a lucky punch against Pac either doens’t know boxing whatsoever or just has his head up his ass…..or possibly both. JM Marquez is top three P4P fighter period, the man is a master technician and is awesome to watch him display his craft in the ring. There’s a big difference between getting lucky and knowing your oppenent and being able to time him just as Marquez did.

Btw, i wonder why Mikey didn’t demand that this bout take place in PR? it’s practically become a hometown advantage for Lopez opponents.

i sincerely hope that they schedule one of the Ramirez’s to ref this bout. we can count on them to stop the predictable slaughter before JuanMono experiences additional and even permanent damage. although, i anticipate that it will be quick and sudden and not the sustained beatdown JuanMono absorbed v. Salido.

Lucky shot is what Marquez Landed vs Paquiao.. what JuanMa did to unbeaten Ponce Deleon was KnockhimdafkoutCold with precision Bombs.. like the Bombs he landed on Leauvaneu and Salido putting both on their ASSES…

JuanMa is going to rebreak soft touch Mickey’s nose.. he was ready to quit vs Salido from a little nose tap???? JuanMa is going to starch him like he starched Ponce Deleon and Lueavanu….

JuanMono is still a Name that Mikey hopes to capitalize on, that’s all. besides, you don’t prepare for someone like Garcia by fighting a Mexican cabbie with 24 losses (17 KO). i noticed that Lopez was little more than a limited slugger when the older and smaller warhorse Gerry Penalosa was able to go toe-to-toe with him in the final fight of his long career. JuanMono was also lucky to catch and defeat Luevano in the final fight of his career. Lopez was exceedingly fortunate to nail Ponce with that lucky shot but lightning isn’t going to strike twice. Mikey’s going to collect the final PR scalp worth collecting and JuanMono will find himself in front of Ponce for the final fight and loss of his hyped-up career and a final 8-count for PR boxing . . . “Duro!-Duro!-Duro!”

Posted May 10, 2013 2:39 pm

I Rican and I thinks Garcia will win this one on pure skill. But Juanma packs one hell of a punch and alot of heart which cant be tought. Many fighters have had thier hand full with the one dimensional Ponce De Leon and people discredit how Juanma beat Ponce so bad within 1 rd. Ponce should have kept his robe on cause it wouldnt have made any difference. I highly doubt Adrian Broner was running from Garcia. I think Mickey wins but Juanma might have his moments…

Cotto recieved a much worse fight Changing Headbutt from Joshua Clottey causing a 5 inch Gash over his Eye and never Quit just kept fighting the much larger heavier Clottey.. Mickey showed he can’t deal with a little pain…

Tomato Can – Mickey looks like a Quitter at heart another David Diaz.. nice guy but doesn’t appear to have the heart of a true Warrior. Look at how many headbutts and forearms JuanMa recieved from Juiced Salido in their two fights and even after getting hurt wanted to continue fighting Salido… Once JuanMa hurts Mickeys little fragile nose, Mickey will turn into a shell and go defensive and get pummeled by JuanMa for the rest of the fight…..

Posted May 10, 2013 1:50 pm

Tomato Can

Garcia recived a fight changing head butt which broke his nose. Garcia wasn’t ducking into Salido, that was all Salido’s doing, and it was really the only thing productive he got done in the whole fight. If ever a fighter had an excuse to go to the cards early, then Garcia definitely deserved that fight to be stopped, and Salido didn’t deserve to continue with that fight…

Posted May 10, 2013 1:41 pm

Breeze – pretty much agree with your assertions except I believe JuanMa can win by hurting Garcia with precise shots not just a stray bomb.. but it will be a very good fight for both guys.. ..

Posted May 10, 2013 1:01 pm

I realize everyone is ripping Garcia for the nose incident, but I don’t get the feeling he is a quitter. He probably should have handled the situation differently, but he was easily winning that fight. Juanma is a good fighter no doubt, but I think he is flawed in his defense. Garcia is an extremely well trained fighter who has a much more well rounded game. I am not saying that Juanma has no chance, but it is hard to see him winning this fight without landing a stray bomb.

Posted May 10, 2013 12:53 pm

Breeze – JuanMa has only two losses and both losses were very tough and rough fights.. We’ll see how Mickey does when JuanMa hits his nose..

Hopefully Canelo doesn’t chicken out of the Cotto fight.. We’ll see if Canelo agrees to Random Blood testing and weight Gain restrictions like Cotto and Mayweather did..

Posted May 10, 2013 12:39 pm

Juanma is just too easy to hit. I think Garcia’s boxing skills will be too much for him to handle. My prediction is that it will be a fairly easy fight for Garcia. Still it is an interesting matchup. I am looking forward to it.

But JuanMa starched Unbeaten Ponce Deleon and Leauvanue.. and had two very tough matches with Salido.. hardly limited like head first plodder Canelo..

Posted May 10, 2013 12:31 pm

JuanMono’s skills are limited. he’s got a punch but only an above-average chin that will be severely dented if not totalled once Mikey lands, which he will. that’s what Garcia does a lot better than Lopez who becomes little more than a wild slugger when he’s forced to exchange. should be easy work for Mikey.

My concern is that JuanMa just fought last week? and he’s going to take on Mickey within another few weeks?? What Kind of training camp will he realy have?? sounds to quick to me but hey, it’s his choice..

This will be a great fight, both are exiting skilled warriors, I think Mikey uses his better skills ad takes him out late but what a fight it will be.

Even though JuanMa lost to Steriods abuser salido, those weren’t EZ fights for Salido.. JuanMa put him on his ASS and on Shakey legs a few times.. Wasn’t an EZ fight for Juicer Salido.. JuanMa will give Mikey a nice challenge..

machismo – JuanMa has starched many Mexicans like Leuavenu.. we’ll see if how Mikey handles getting his nose busted again… JuanMa can punch.. Both guys are pretty good guys..

Posted May 10, 2013 10:53 am

The first time Juanma gets tagged in the chin, he will have weak legs for the duration of the fight, which won’t be too long.

Posted May 10, 2013 10:37 am

Why is everyone saying this will be a good fight? Juanma is damaged goods. Garcia will make quick work out of Juanma on this night.

Posted May 10, 2013 10:33 am

Largo-I’m with you Bro. If I had to bet, I would bet on Garcia, but it is not as lopsided as everyone seems to think. Salido bullied, bumped and banged Lopez out in a barroom brawl, but that isn’t Garcia’s style. Remember that Lopez is a great Boxer/Puncher and I believe he’s stronger than Garcia. Garcia’s chin is still unknown, but Lopez’s power is a sure thing. All I can say is keep your beer & smokes close and hold on to your hats! We may have a FOTY candidate in June!

Posted May 10, 2013 9:49 am

This will be a good match and Mikey should take it by UD.

Posted May 10, 2013 4:20 am

Hahahaha, Boxtra, that’s where you have problems, you don’t take into account the intangibles…but an old fart like me see those miles away…Juan has real power & it took a macho mofo like Salido to pressure him into submission; Mickey isn’t Salido, he has skills but i question his resolve after his quitting against Juan conqueror…Mickey is practically unproven against top fighters & Juanma is a pretty good fighter; skills have to be proven against good fighters & Salido had Garcia distressed in the later rounds & he found a way out…intangibles have to be part of a good analysis. This fight will be a good one & Juanma has a hell of a chance, believe it or not.

Largo, you, we’ll see. It shoud be a good fight.

Posted May 10, 2013 12:14 am

TC, we’ll come back to this when the fight draws near. You’ll be most likely right but i just can’t dismiss Juanma’s power & the fact that Garcia took the easy way out…We’ll see.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:58 pm

Tomato Can

I agree Largo, but I think Garcia will do even better against Lopez. I think Garcia will eat him up from the out side. But Juanma is a heck of a fighter, I just think he’s been through too many wars, and Garcia will expose that. I’d be happy to be wrong though.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:29 pm

The fact of the matter is that Salido’s durability & pressure broke Juanma down & i don’t see how that applies to Mickey who is a boxer/puncher…he might take Juan out even quicker but i fail to see how’s that guaranteed when Garcia doesn’t have the durability & won’t be putting the same pressure that Salido was able to, unless he risks to get knocked out himself.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:26 pm

The old cliche applies here, styles makes fights & Garcia is not Salido who’s pressure saw him beat Juanma twice; Garcia will box because that’s what he does so i don’t see why everybody thinks this will be a walk in the park…Juanma has true power & he can box a little & he’s a southpaw. If forced to pick, right now, i say the fresher, younger Mickey should win but we can witness another Judah/Danny Garcia, or worse…to me, this ain’t written in stone, like it is for many people here.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:15 pm

Tomato Can

I’m not sure about that, but if Juanma (like Salido) can only land a punch with his head, and ends up breaking Mikey’s nose (like Salido) then Mikey may get to quit again if he’s up on the cards, like he was against Salido.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:05 pm

MR 666

all juanmama has to do, is break mikey nose. mikey can not fight with a broken nose

Posted May 9, 2013 11:01 pm

Tomato Can

Tark, what is Lopez going to try and break Garcia’s nose with at head butt like Salido did? I like Lopez, but I’ll be very surprised if he finishes this fight on his feet, little lone win it. We’ll see what happens though.

Posted May 9, 2013 11:00 pm

Tomato Can

Garcia ko win, within 8.

Posted May 9, 2013 10:52 pm

wow, it seems a consensus that Garcia wins…i’ll keep my pick until the fight gets closer but i don’t think Mickey is more durable than Salido who was causing him some distress in the later rounds & Mickey found & took the easy way out, which to me, opens a small window for questioning; Garcia is a good operator & can crack but he doesn’t put the relentless pressure with which Salido broke Juanma & i think that in a back & forth, Juanma could give everybody a huge surprise…that’s all for now.

Posted May 9, 2013 10:42 pm

Tomato Can

I’ll tell you what, Mares out performed Bronner, when comparing the two against Ponce DeLeon.

Posted May 9, 2013 10:24 pm

Na, can’t believe that. He left 130 cause he couldn’t make the weight. Garcia has never fought at 135. Broner took on the top titlest at 135. He is moving to 147 for 1 fight and from what was said he would be moving back down to 140. All the top fighters already had fights. So there was nobody to fight.

Posted May 9, 2013 10:08 pm

Mickey Garcia the real reason Broner left the 130/135 Div with his tail tuck between his legs.

Posted May 9, 2013 10:06 pm

Garcia wins by KO around the 8th round

Posted May 9, 2013 9:59 pm

Posted May 9, 2013 9:46 pm

Nice.. Great fight. Garcia should clean Lopez’s clock.

Posted May 9, 2013 9:45 pm

Juanma is a warrior,,has power but lacks stamina and chin to get to the Elite level, Mikey showed his skills and power vs Salido,,the man that Ko Juanma 2 times, on paper it looks like an easy fight for Mikey,,,,there is 1 slim chance for Juanma,,,,he does have power,,,and if can get to Mikey’s fragile nose,,,it was broken by Salido’s head, once a nose is broken,,,it will get broken again,,,if,,big IF?? Juanma can get to Mikey head early on,,,he might injure his nose and have the fight stopped,,,but that’s a big if,,,,Mikey should be getting him out before Salido did,,,peace

Posted May 9, 2013 8:34 pm

Im from PR but I can’t see Juama winning. This is just a bad matchup for him. I do have say that Juama does better against boxers than brawlers so he does have a chance…a diminute one.

Posted May 9, 2013 7:33 pm

Great match-up! Garcia via stoppage….patient, sharp, fast and powerful,. Nuff said.

Posted May 9, 2013 7:25 pm

Lopez has a good punch, guts to fight and has to win this or his career as a serious contender is over. Unless Mikey quits because of a broken nose, he should win by stoppage before 4 rounds.

Posted May 9, 2013 6:35 pm

my heart wants Juanma to win, but i dont see him winning. i see a ko for Mikey around 7-8.

Posted May 9, 2013 5:31 pm

I take Ortiz by KO after 8. Juanma always has the puncher’s chance. But he still makes the same mistakes he did when he had 5 pro fights.

Lopez is KTFO for good. although, i have to commend his recent desire to return to serious contention. even traveling to Mexico to face one of its gritty cabbies. however, Garcia is too skilled and explosive for Lopez to even stand a chance of finishing the bout on his feet. no question mark here: Garcia by KO whatever round.

Posted May 9, 2013 4:49 pm

Garcia will graduate to greatness, if indeed beats Lopez. Garcia win over Salido doesn’t say much. He almost quit, how many fighters has fought with a broken nose, broken jaw, broken hand. There is a question mark in Garcia.
