The latest boxing interviews
(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) Kelly Swanson – Thanks, everybody, for calling in. It’s such a pleasure to be joined today by Floyd Mayweather, the 11-time, five-division world champion, to talk about his upcoming fight “MAYHEM: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2”. Also joining us is Leonard Ellerbe, Chief Executive Officer of Mayweather Promotions.
Before I introduce Leonard I just wanted to make one program note. The fight week schedule will be distributed later this week, so everybody please take a look for that in your e-mail. That will give you a breakdown of everything happening during fight week starting Tuesday with the Grand Arrivals. I am going to now turn it over to Leonard Ellerbe to make the introductions.
Good afternoon to everybody. I’m training hard and I’m ready for September 13th.
Do you agree or disagree that the only way to beat Mayweather is probably by knockout?
No. I don’t agree with that statement. I think that I can win by decision or by knockout. The first fight was a very close fight. It was a decision that was a majority decision, so I feel that I just have to make a few adjustments, put a little more pressure on, land better punches, and yes I can win, I can win by decision. But obviously the knockout would be nice, and that’s a possibility as well. Continue reading
Could 2014-15, be a ‘break-out’ campaign for Paddington light-middleweight Gary Corcoran?
The 23 year old who they call ‘Hellraiser’ has ripped through his first ten pro opponents and is looking ominously more formidable with each passing outing.
A natural born scrapper with a rich Irish traveller heritage, Corcoran begins his season at eight round level at the York Hall, Bethnal Green – live on BoxNation- on September 20th but is predicting that it will conclude with a title belt clasped around his midriff. Continue reading
Las Vegas has been paying close attention to undefeated Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez for some time now. Roy Jones Jr. has given Chuy a chance to fight for the lightweight vacant WBC USNBC title Sept. 20 at Sunset Station in Las Vegas against Rashad Ganaway 14-4, 9KOs. His record stands at 12-0, 4KOs, and his not shy to and for any competition. Not only is he exciting to watch in the ring, he also is a great ticket drawer, packing seats with fans laced in his black and silver Pound 4 Pound and RHP gear. There’s been a lot of heat, mostly positive, surrounding this young prospect mainly because who he’s represented by. Right Hook Promotions is a local entertainment and PR company who happens to also represent Chuy. In each fight, Chuy gains so much attention it often over shadow some of the bigger headliners and promoters. But so far there is no controversy surrounding this upcoming fight but it is expected to be explosive. Both fighters are going in to the ring with impressive records and confidence, but only one can come out with the title.
World Boxing Federation (WBF) Latin Super Middleweight Champion Isaac Rodrigues had a flying start to his professional career, winning his first seventeen bouts, including a victory over well-known contender Brian Vera.
