The guy was definitely on the juice for most of his career – he even stole Rubin Carter’s favorite line: “My muscles even have muscles” Hagler even elected to move out of his home town rather than face top middleweight and local rival Vinnie Curto. Best middles champion ever? Don’t make me puke.

So Traveller, MMH is not special & your loverboy Tyson Fury is?? Don’t make me laugh. Please don’t comment on things you know nothing about. Its best you go back to collecting “stealing” scrap & what ever other shady things gipsies do.

I have seen very few fighters who could take a shot as good as Marvin Hagler. One of the hardest men in boxing history. A true legend. Only a halfwit would say Hagler “wasn’t anything special”.

anyway, mccallum was defeated by sumbu kalambay, who in turn was ko’d in the first round by michael nunn…i really don’t think mccallum would be a threat to hagler…he was a good fighter but not as good as some people seem to think

Supreme Court

Marvellous Marvin Hagler has transcended eras…If you put him in the square with the current MW champs, boy, he would dismantle them!!!!Quillin, Marvilla, GGG, all would land on the canvas with a thud!
Even worst than the historical face planting of Manny Chemical Pacquiao…

Hagler was one of the HARDEST fighters in the history of the sport.. A truly defiant and angry pugilist who was out to hurt you and could take a sledgehammer blow to do it… Guy was a nightmare in the ring, I still remember that fight with Mugabi a serious WAR…

mcCallum was good and missed outon fighting Leonard,Hearns,Duran,Mugabi, and Hagler. Hagler didfight Hearns,Mugabi,Duran, and got screwed against Leonard. Wanted to stickwith and maintain a unified middle title same as Monzon did.Leonard took his title and gave it up,so it was split up and not unified again. There was no need for Hagler to move up and fight light heavies toMarvin. But McCallum did seem to miss a lot of good paydays and fights.

It’s Me, Ernie

He took on all comers and put on a great show. His patience and incredible heart and conditioning made for one of the most exciting middleweights of all time.

Hagler was a exciting very well skilled champ.

braxton was a beast…gave evander all he could handle……there was no smwt division…lhwt was 15 lbs more and with rehydration about 25 lbs and hagler was not a real big mwt…he always weighed in less than the limit in his prime , he also didn’t get a shot at a title until he had close to 50 fights….so moving up in weight was not that profitable at that late stage

Still don’t agree he is still respected as one of the best to the boxing world that why he is a hallfamer . His fame and glory will live on no matter what u think

Robert A.

Mma Fighter – He rightfully should be rated with the great middleweights, no doubt, but “would fight anybody” is a bit of a stretch. He refused proposed matches out of his 160 lb weight class, including a huge money fight against Dwight Braxton/Qawi – a match he could very possibly have won. Leonard, Duran, Hearns all took on bigger, high quality opponents and won world titles. Not so with the guy you claim is “the meaning”.

I love to watch Marvin Hagler’s fights, a true legend and a fine champ back then. The only middleweight he would have lost to would be Bernard Hopkins if they could have fought both in there primes (even Hagler himself have said in media that he belives he would have lost to Hopkins), but then again there is no garantuie. They have both a very similar back story in there PRO careers. Marvin hagler was a dominant fighter and reigned great as the middleweight world champiom but he had to be syand in the shadow of “Sugar” Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and some Thomas Hearns – Bernard Hopkins the same and worked hard, was the middleweight champion for 11 years, still he had to be in the back in favour for Roy Jones Jr, Oscar De La Hoya, James Toney, Felix Trinidad and Julio Cesar Chavez and in career late Hopkins got his recognition but only after have defeated De La Hoya & Trinidad for there world title belts and then he defeats Jones Jr and Hopkins was older then all these men.
