Lara has been in with better fighters he should be able to beat Vanes who I am not too schooled on… Did not over impress me in the fight I did see he was in… People are huge on Lara so lets see if he can deliver a BIG performance…

Fight Aficionado

Great fight here. Lara and Vanes are both quality boxers, don’t sleep on the winner if he goes against Canelo. That’s a big if. The WBCriminals have screwed Vanesfor 2 years now refusing to force Canelo to make his mandatory defense. So they’re charging a sanctioning free from both of them tonight for this “title eliminator” but probably won’t enforce it — again. All that said I figure Lara is just a little too slick and strong for Vanes.

It’s Me, Ernie

Easy KO for Lara. Vanes is way overrated, as tonight’s bout will show.

Cubans are very unfamiliar with social behavior in public. This event was very evident and incident to their uncommon and unbecoming behavior.

i aint overlooking martirosyan he got a chance to win this belive me but im going with lara to win the fight can go either way lara didn looked to impressive when he beat freddy hernandez to so lara can be beat but i see lara being up for this fight as well vanes a good fighter he underfeated so i see lara being motivated for this when lara is motivated and focus he can be dangerous but i do think vanes can match up with lara on the speed level and his jab can give lara problems but somtimes vanes be leaning in with his punches that can be a chance for lara to counter him vanes be reaching somtimes im sticking with lara to win tho

yeah that was a bad move on ouma part moving up to fight jermain taylor at middleweight taylor was to big and strong ouma a small fighter he took alot of hard shots in that fight and ouma never been a big puncher at 154 ouma was calling everybody out i think he would of gave winky wright a tough fight cause of his workrate and stamina

Hidalgo, thanks for you posts. Actually I was only using Ouma as a gauge. I like Ouma, he’s an okay fighter, but to me, if Ouma put Vanes down, Lara will have a chance of doing so as well, and possibly get a TKO or even ko in this one. I would put my money on Lara for this fight, but if Vanes wins, good for him.

BTW Tomato Can, I remember watching Ouma fight Tony Marshall back in 2001. I was there ringside at a casino in Gulfport, Mississippi. I congratulated Ouma after he won the fight and at the time I remember thinking that he was a promising young kid. But it seems like his boxing world fell apart after he moved up to middleweight. Ouma only had two losses before he lost to Jermain Taylor in 2006. He never seemed to recover after that loss. Anyways, I always thought the best didn’t want to fight him–prior to Taylor–because he was just too tough and too resilient. And in my mind, too African as well. In other words, I always felt like the powers that be didn’t want to give him the big fights because he just wasn’t a marketable guy. Fairly talented boxer as well. Anyways, yeah, he knocked Martirosyan down in the 9th round of their fight. Well, believe me, Ouma is a tough test for any boxer jr. middleweight. Even now.

“If Ouma and Roman were able to knock Martirosyan down, what will Lara be able to do to him, oh my…” How many times has Juan Manuel Marquez been knocked down? How do you rate him? Being knocked down isn’t the end of ends. Lara is in for a surprise. So is everyone betting on Lara. Vanes is gonna take it.

I haven’t seen enough to Martirosyan to give a fair prediction, but he’s real good if he can beat Lara. BTW, Molina wasn’t the better fighter between he and Lara when they fought, he was just more awkward than a fighter like Lara is use to seeing. Heck, Molina would have been constantly penalized as an amateur. The fact is, until we see Vanes and Molina square off, Molina isn’t much of a gage for this fight. But I do agree on paper Vanes looks very good, and has some really great wins as and Amateur.

People are overlooking Martiroysan in this fight. Please remenber that Lara had a draw in a fight he definitly lost to Carlos Molina last Summer in las Vegas. He is very good but Martiroysan is probably more talented and he is very motivated for this fight unlike other fights in the past. Im going with Martiroysan by close decision. +450 at the sports book. Gonna make a lot of money at the same time.
