These guys have to find another source of energy/juice, BEFORE they try to entertain retirement. All 1 billion or so of the road warriors LIVING cells, are accustomed to the biochemicals produced, (by his brain mostly), when training, fighting, fans cheering, ect, ect…. They crave it! They yell for it, and its quite the task to tell all 1 billion of your cells to FO….. its much better to apease them with other non-destructive forms of “energy”, until their weened off of…. whatever.

I never believe a fighter when they say retirement. I want to, but until they’ve been out of the game long enough to be considered for the hall of fame, I refuse to believe it. Still, Johnson really should have seen the writing on the wall when Fonfara beat him. That guy has made a career out of just outlasting faded fighters that fall apart late. At least Fonfara will be brutally KOed soon enough by Stevenson. That’s something I totally believe.

road warrior vs hopkins

glens kinda like angulo just trying to walk people down and get his shots off sometimes. I too dont wish kovalev or adonis on him. he does not deserve the kind of sick brutality they will unleash on him. he is not someone i wanna see take that damage. would love to see ward and hopkins take it though

Lets get real. Glen Johnson is a very skilled fighter, but he’s well past his prime (that’s why he “retired” a year or so ago). At this point in time, Kovalev would take him apart. Glen, if you need the money or still enjoy fighting, be a gate keeper. Don’t pursue trying to jump in with Kovalev OR Stevenson — you’ll get severely abused.

“cantabile… bad idea. Everyone loves Glenn. He’s been a great underappreciated fighter.” – Cosign. Anyone who wants Johnson vs Kovalev must be a sadist. Come on now.

Ha, the old Road Warrior just keeps on grinding. Props. If boxing had 50 Glen Johnsons the sport would be in great shape.

cantabile… bad idea. Everyone loves Glenn. He’s been a great underappreciated fighter. He retired though, and this fight was done because he missed the sport. Not because he is delusional about his chances of winning a title again. If an older fighter wants to fight a Jamie Velasquez type fighter and hear the roar of the crowd and the impact on his gloves again. I’m good with that. Putting Glenn in with Kovalev would be an atrocity on the level of everyone involved in the promotion. It’s not gonna happen anyway. But it is still irritating people are stupid enough to conjure such idea’s.

plus a ped cheat.

Put the over-hyped Kovalev in with Glen Johnson and watch the so called “Krusher” get schooled all the way back to Russia. GJ is a vastly underrated fighter – period & simple.

What sux most about nowadays is that once a fighter is established as a name, he gets huge criticism for fighting guys no ones heard of even if they are great talents.
Oscar Bonavena would be a no name in todays HW division, and a guy like Spinks……how does he get a title shot in modern era. Hell, Wlad is fighting Leapei, a KNOWN big man with a solid record, decent resume, and it’s being called the worst defense in history.
Yeah, GJ is a fighter from the past……his record includes the who’s who of big names from 4 decades, and like a true old timey fighter, he’s got a few dozen Jaime Velasquezs 11-6-2 on his record. So what…..a win’s a win, and Im positive GJ earned his purse last night, as did Himey.

Respect to Johnson for what he has achieved in the past, and he was on the wrong end of some poor decisions, but does this opponent really count.

The Road Warrior is a Legend

Reminds me of equally tough guy of the 70’s and 80’s Marvin Johnson

Fought everyone
Gave it everything
These guys are the lifeblood of boxing

St Vitus Dance

Does go to show what rubbish a glossy record is…………

Boxing needs more fighters like Glen Johnson. I believe that he could have fought in any other era and have been a champion then as well.
