S.Redmond, misinformed, there is no roadblock to fighting Golovkin other than cowardice or greed.

Actually that is coming straight from Cheezb and his wild fantasies. It is GGG team who consistently put up road blocks and ridiculous demands and name drop good fighters who already have dates scheduled. History doesn’t lie. Keep taking on the little guys GGG. Your highlight reel is exciting, padded with no names, but exciting.

“Gary Shaw just said publically that Geale was offered the Monte Carlo date with Golovkin and Geale turned it down, stating that he only wanted to fight if it was on HBO. That’s not spin coming from Golovkin’s team, that’s words straight from Team Geale. ” – Thanks for the info Cheez. another dude ducking GGG.

Or maybe it was that K2 is just going to co-promote some fights with GBP.

Posted January 9, 2014 5:11 pm

CheezB, I thought I read an article fairly recently which said that K2 partnered with Golden Boy Promotions. If so, that would put GGG under the GBP banner. As for the other fighters, I was only talking about GGG. But hey, I’ve been wrong before. Thanks.

@Hidalgo – “But like it or not, GBP determines when its fighters will fight and who they will fight.”
But none of these guys are GBP fighters, right? I thought Quillin was the only top-tier MW under GBP. Golovkin is K2. Geale is with Gary Shaw. Martinez with DiBella. Sturm I think is self-promoted these days.

Geale should have been awarded the win over Barker. Sturm set the record straight, fortunately, when he took the title from Barker. The match that should be made now is a Sturm/Geale rematch. Beat Sturm, then give Geale the Golovkin bout. If he really wants it. But like it or not, GBP determines when its fighters will fight and who they will fight. Don’t believe it? Ask GGG’s trainer Abel Sanchez.

Good article, well writtten and accurate. Fair play.

“Geale wants to fight GGG in April, and I have spoken to HBO about the fight and all they say is that they are interested, but they are exploring other options,” Shaw said. “What can be a better option than Geale, a true 160-pounder and a former world champion who beat [Felix] Sturm [in a unification fight] on German soil? And even though Daniel did not get the decision in [against Barker] he is willing to come back just to fight GGG.

“What I don’t understand is that after the Barker fight, HBO said they wanted Geale back, and now they have gone silent. I know GGG would fight Geale as [Golovkin’s team] asked if we wanted the fight in Monte Carlo, but Geale wants to fight him on HBO.”

Gary Shaw just said publically that Geale was offered the Monte Carlo date with Golovkin and Geale turned it down, stating that he only wanted to fight if it was on HBO.
That’s not spin coming from Golovkin’s team, that’s words straight from Team Geale. And now they’re wondering why they’re not front-runners for the April HBO date.

Would love Geale to take the fight with GGG
This one is pretty much a formality
Geales higher work rate and accuracy will see him win this late or UD

The Block Buster with GGG should be after and should be a terrific action packed fight

GGG has had a very fruitfull amatuer career and 2 date yeah he has a strap at middle….very much untested. GGG is tech better than Geale….that said Geale is a very tricky customer. I think this fight would bring best out of both guys. 2 many guys get a mouthfull from the average punter 4 not fighting whoever wherever whenever? Geale is not 1 of those guys….u no what u r getting with Geale, he will bring it v GGG. Golovkin is 32 yrs old isnt he? Ad is Geale. Its about time we c how good GGG is, I think Daniel can help with that.

But he beat barker I think and was unlucky not to get the decision

I’m from auz geale turned down the GGG fight and rightly so, this is weak from him garth wood isn’t that good

Posted January 9, 2014 3:12 am

How is his choice of opponent any worse then Ishida, Rosado and Stevens, he is coming of a loss whereas GGG was is a belt holder and facing that kind of opposition. Im a fan of GGG but Geale has already unified 2 of the belts which more then I can say for most of the MW contenders acheivments.

the author said “if Geale can’t even beat Barker, then what business does he have being in the ring with GGG”
that’s a joke right? GGG who is yet to fight a 160 pounder of note. GGG who’s best opponent is matthew ï got ko’d by Jamie moore” macklin. GGG who just fought stevens and now fights adama (a guy Geale beat 2 years ago when he was at least coming off a ko win over a has been in kamazin – as opposed to now, where he’s followed the geale loss with 2 nobodies in the 2 year period).
I understand that most had never watched a Geale fight prior to the barker clash – believe me that was not the Geale that beat Sturm and Sylvester in Germany. Geale had a bad night that night (struggling with favourite tag)
Geale vs Golovkin is a good fight for GGG – as he gets to fight a legit and accomplished 160pounder. and for Geale fighting golovkin in April is the only thing that justifies him fighting Wood (that is as a keep busy fight coz woods is a club fighter at best) not to mention lets him be the under dog again which he prefers
GGG first came to my attention when I watched him beat Geale in Osaka in 2001 and although I think GGG wins again it is by no means going to be the walk over that many think it will

Woop Woop

Any surprise that GGG and his minders are disregarding a Geale challenge? Unfortunately for Geale he is a proven Middleweight which GGG just does not fight. He prefers injured or shot fighters ruined by other Middle champs. GGG prefers to fight blown up Welters and Jnr Middles. These facts leave Geale out in the cold for a GGG match up. Enjoy your fantasy fight GGG against another Jnr Middle in Kirkland mid year. Keep running from the champs and contenders at Middle. Gennady ‘The Illusion’ Golovkin, says a sucker is born every minute and most of them reside on his hype train. Choooooooo!!! Choooooooo!!!

How about some clarification on the rubbish spouted. Geale took Mundine at that time because GGG was a nobody and Geale would fight at home after 2 title wins in Germany. Geale would get a 7 figure payday. Geale would get to avenge his only loss. Geale also was going to fight GGG after the Mundine clash but he got penalised for Sturm’s indiscretions over the previous 2 yrs. Another thing is that if you believe Geale lost to Barker and the scores were not a joke then you are a fool. Also Geale does not need to prove himself with what he has accomplished at Middleweight by earning 2 titles beating the reigning champs. It is GGG who has the weaker names on his record and he should be chomping at the bit for a fight against a genuine former Middleweight Champ for his own recognition amongst the GGG doubters. Why wouldn’t HBO be interested? Geale would fight GGG and he is a busy skilful fighter and GGG brings the power excitement. This fight should happen.

RAYRAY…Good post…Geale is a solid fighter…

Golovkin should fight Geale……Geale shouldnt have 2 beat guys like Murrey. Hes already proved himself travelling and taking titles from germany twice….a solid fighter wants 2 fight GGG and he wont do it? Whos the guy GGG is fightig next? What has he proved? Geale wasnt @ his best v Barker that fight still could have went either way. No way he could have fought GGG as his mandetory with the time frame he was given, the guy had just beat Sturm. GGG rightfully should b favourite if this fight took place….Geale will give him his toughest fight. When on his game Geale is a very awkward guy 2 face, very tricky……make it happen?
