@Ya mama… Hatton couldn’t hit Floyd with anything effective.. Or even hit Pacman effectively.. Floyd Sr. started teaching Hatton a couple things — so Hatton had the capacity to be a good boxer, but Ricky didn’t want to put in the time to unlearn his bad habits and acquire good ones. You can’t do it in a year or 2 years even with the best trainer.
Norton hit Ali with every type of punch he threw. Norton beat Ali 3 fights on my cards. Ali was not a great defender, and didn’t slip or duck punches with outstanding skill. He was particularly vulnerable to jabs and left hooks … Floyd is a great defender. I think Lara, Pacquiao, and Garcia have the best chances to line up Floyd’s chin. It’s not easy.Posted December 16, 2013 2:10 am
Can’t stand excuses, it’s like they trying to change the outcome differently. Broner team said broner had a off night. Crazy, he gave 100% and was short, can’t get pass maidana LOL….Posted December 16, 2013 1:24 am
Tark, watch the Ricky hatten Floyd fight, that is one of the key to hitting Floyd, Ricky was mixing in off timing floater that turn into clubbing coming down punches that caught Floyd as he duck down as always. He also landed so mean left hook too. But he was lunging forward and got to predicable .
Also Ali like Floyd hold his left hand down, Ken Norton was told to block ali jab with the left and step forward and hook the left as Ali dropped his left. Norton favorite punch. He did this all night and connected and one broker Ali jaw.Posted December 16, 2013 1:13 am
The arching or chopping right that Maidana used beat the cross-armed defense and shoulder roll worked better than I thought it could… It’s going to hit you somewhere because you can’t shoulder roll it. It’s the rght-handed version of the shot Sergio Martinez put Paul Williams out cold with in a battle of southpaws.. Watch that in slow motion because it’s one of the best connects in recent years and the punch takes a very deceptive route to the target.. The left-hook worked for MM because AB’s arms were crossed. He couldn’t block it with the right glove.
Everyone is going to attack Broner in the same fashion — because no matter how hard Broner tried to adjust, he kept getting nailed throughout.Posted December 15, 2013 10:42 pm

It was Broner’s cross-armed defense and shoulder roll that Maidana exploited..
MM overwhelmed the defense with chopping rights and left hooks.. Broner often uses his right to block rights so you can get him on the ear, the temple, the jaw, or the top of the head — whatever was open MM caught it.. and then he nailed him with the left hook. You’re going to score if you throw a ton of shots at this defense.. The strategy works.
I want to see Lara, Pacquiao, or Garcia face Floyd… I believe any of them would mean business, and come with a great game plan… Those will be REAL fights for Floyd … and I believe extremely interesting like the one last night.Posted December 15, 2013 6:58 pm

why does boxing have to be like WWF , why can`t they act like good sportsman and stop degrading the sport , now broner has to find some B fighter he can try and come back against , because any of the 147 champs will have no problem stopping himPosted December 15, 2013 5:48 pm

Maidana much stronger than Broner, power in both hands and lots of hart & determination,a rematch will have an equal or worse outcome for BronerPosted December 15, 2013 5:11 pm
Popular sentiment WAS that Broner was more skilled than Maidana, because he is. But it was also that Broner doesn`t work hard enough in fights, and is defensively lax. He likes to shake his head to show he isn`t hurt. But hurt or not, you are only shaking your head because people are landing punches on you. One day you meet someone whose punches do damage.
Where Broner goes from here depends on ego. If he is going to go back to trying to win fights landing 10 punches a round and stand in front of people shoulder rolling and shaking his head he is done.Posted December 15, 2013 4:15 pm

Joseph Herron, Broner definitely was in damn good shape for this bout I questioned his place at 147 when chatting with Hidalgo yesterday or the day before… I see him as more comfortable at 140, he is used to being able to subdue his opposition with a few crisp shots at 135, at 147 Paulie and Maidana were able to absorb and return fire in Maidanas case with disasterous results… Do I think Broner fights at 135 again? I doubt hit he was a chiseled 159, I believe last evening it will be interesting to see if he is mentally strong enough to endure the taunts, dismissals and downgrades that are gonna hit him like a MACK truck…Like Paulie said there is ONLY one Floyd Mayweather and if you are gonna talk the talk, you cannot get batted around the ring by Marcos Maidana and get blown out on the scorecards…Posted December 15, 2013 3:35 pm

Fight Dr…the truth is not relative. It’s absolute.
Check the odds and the popular sentiment before the contest…it was colossal upset because of the way it happened. Maidana didn’t just win the fight. He beat up a fighter who was considered an elite level talent and a pound for pound guy.
But like I said, the truth isn’t relative…in boxing, perception rules the day.Posted December 15, 2013 3:17 pm

I think he gets in shape and defends his title at 135 pounds in 2014. He’s not big and strong enough at age 24 to compete at 147 pounds against guys like Keith Thurman or Shawn Porter.Posted December 15, 2013 12:21 pm

Good morning, Brother Hidalgo!! Hope you enjoyed the fights lat night…So much to discuss on this evening’s edition of The Pugilist KOrner!!
Maidana did clearly dominate the defending champ, and at no point did I ever have Broner in front during that fight.
I was surprised that I was the only guy on press row who scored the first round 10-8 in favor of Broner even though there was no knock down. It was so dominant and so one sided, I couldn’t justify a 10-9.
So after two rounds, I had Maidana winning 20-16…already a four point lead.Posted December 15, 2013 11:25 am
I have never been so happy to see a boxer get his ass kicked than last night!
Nothing better than seeing an obnoxious disrespectful BIG headed fool looking humiliated, might make him a better man, not only did it make my day but my year when Maidana did what Broner did earlier in the fight. When Broner looks back at the build up and the fight itself he will surely cringe at the way he conducted himself, could be another Hamed beaten once and never the same, arrogance isnt a likeable characteristic.Posted December 15, 2013 11:09 am

Broner acted last night just like the person he is a spoiled brat of the sport, first that was NO head butt maidana did shove off with his head but no where near an actual head butt , you see when maidana shoved off it took broner about 3 whole seconds to react I’m sorry head butts hurt you cut you instantly like when Ortiz did it to Floyd that was a head butt, than to storm out of the ring like he did, the same thing will happen to wilder when like broner fights some real competition, again using the shoulder roll does not mean your the next Floyd mayweather, maidana equals easy work huh? Unbelievable how much time the ref gave Broner to recover from the “headbutt” in the 8th. Can’t blame Maidana for getting frustrating with all the holding and using his head to break free, but it was a gift for Broner and he milked it for all it was worth, ultimately getting about 1 minute and 20 seconds to recover from the knockdown. If he hadn’t done all that acting like he was hurt from the headbutt he would have been KTFO in the 8th, no doubt about it. What a shame we didn’t get to see that happen. Still, great to see this insufferable pr*ick get the crap beaten out of him. Well done Maidana!Posted December 15, 2013 8:39 am

After struggling against one of the lighter punchers in the division, taking on one of this biggest punchers was never a smart idea. Broner is a good fighter, but his power deserted him at Welterweight. Maidana isn’t renowned for his punch resistance and Broner barely made him blink…
Broner needs to go back down to lightweight where he still holds a title and only move up when his body tells him it’s time.
This loss will have probably shattered his confidence, which is not a bad thing. He was clearly losing the fight and completely disengaged from his corner. Time to hire a new corner if you don’t think that they are useful when the going gets tough.Posted December 15, 2013 6:50 am
Broner is better than Maidana in all areas. The only chance Maidana has is to land a lucky punch. Broner has advantages in speed, movement/agility, defense, reflexes, counter punching and every other thing. Maidana has the perfect style for Broner. Broner will test Maidana’s power and speed for 2 rounds and then the massacre will begin. Broner will put on a great boxing performance and win a UD or most likely stop Maidana in the later rounds. Maidana is tough, has a great fighting spirit and will not quit. The referee stops the slaughter. The uppercuts, jabs and straight right hands will be the weapons to dismantle Maidana. Next, Broner has his hair combed and whatever else he has planned. This fight makes Broner a star. I don’t like the guy myself, but he has a lot of talent.
lol…Nice beatdown!Posted December 15, 2013 6:08 am
Khan only managed to beat Madiana because two people helped him, the referee and Alex Ariza, who some say had pumped Khan full of his “special milkshakes” to help Khan’s punch resistance. A shake-free Khan would have got knocked out by Marcos in that fight and in any rematch Maidana would shatter Khan inside six rounds. Khan is basically in retirement unless he gets a lottery fight with Floyd, which he does not deserve. If Khan gets the Floyd fight next May, Khan will have been out of the ring for 13 months! How can anyone say Khan v Floyd will be competitive or worthwhile? It would not be. Floyd should give Maidana the shot instead.Posted December 15, 2013 5:56 am
Respect to both guys for putting on a great fight…Broner really needs to lose the Mayweather type persona, like I have previously posted on an old Broner article, unlike Floyd who haters will still watch in the hope that he might possibly lose, those same haters wont watch Broner because him losing is an inevitability. When Maidana out-jabs you all fight long, there is something seriously wrong..He needs to get serious about his craft and show some respect if not before the fight then atleast after it, even Ricardo Mayorga did as much. The guy is failing on both ends at the moment, thats just my humbke opinion.Posted December 15, 2013 5:23 am

Farmboxer: “What fight was the author watching tonight?! The fight was not even close and there was no elbow to the chin.”
FB, I scored the fight 8 rounds to 4, with two 2 point rounds for Maidana…You had to have scored the first round 10-8, even though there was no knock down because it was so one sided. 115-109
I had it just like the judges you heralded in your post.
If you actually watch the fight without bias, it was a blowout during the first two rounds, and dominated by Maidana after round eight.
I scored rounds 1,2,3,7,8,9,10,and 11 for Maidana. I only scored four rounds for Broner.
After the first two rounds, it was a very competitive fight. Maidana clearly won, but it was a competitive fight…that’s what made the fight so good!!
If you are able, try watching the fight without bias…But because most people can’t stand Broner, it’s probably very difficult for most fight fans. But it was a competitive and entertaining fight!!

Rios was handpicked and the public showed it by not buying the fight. He had less than 550,000 ppvs. He needs Floyd I just hope that Arum dont throw and wrench in it again. Broner needs to stop all the antics and get back to the basics. People gave him way too much credit and he wasnt proven. I think he got hurt early in the fight and it made a difference maybe he underestimated Marcos. But again Broner is not on Floyd level neither is Manny. 46 have tried 46 have failed. Bradley and Marquez should have been beat easily by Manny. But instead he lost a close UD on one and Koed on another again its easy to look good agaisnt Rios.Posted December 15, 2013 2:50 am
Bears, your blatant attempts to create some sort of Race War based on Broner taking an obvious loss are simply proving what a confirmed loser you are… Broner lost and got embarrassed, I don’t see anyone arguing the obviousness of this…Now where do you wanna take the conversation as it pertains to boxing??? We get it you’re a RedNeck, and banging your cousin has dulled your senses…Broner losing clarifies this “Mayweather equivalent”‘nonsense that abounds in boxing Everytime a guy within 20 miles of him looks good… Like Paulie said “There is only ONE Floyd Mayweather”Posted December 15, 2013 2:48 am
Great win by Maidana. He studied the tape and saw one huge weakness in Broner’s game. Broner takes at least two rounds to get warmed up, leaving himself open for attack. Both Paulie and the fighter before him exposed this and won the first couple of rounds against Broner. However, both fighters didn’t have the power of Maidana to hurt Broner. Of course, hardcore Mayweather haters will try and make it seem like Broner losing also exposed Floyd. But anyone with common sense knows that an imitation can never be as great as the original. Which is why only a few are making such stupid comments on the internet right now. The rest are clearly seeing that pretending to be Floyd is completely different than actually being Floyd.Posted December 15, 2013 2:45 am
There was also a sad heavyweight fight on tonight…
Kelvin Price has the worst stance and defense I’ve ever seen on a 14-1 main event fighter… He has ZERO bend in his right knee — is flat footed on his right foot, instead of on the ball — holds his hands out instead of guarding his face with his gloves — doesn’t have a prayer of ducking under a punch — and has the most awkward footwork I’ve ever seen in my life… His punch delivery is horrendous.
Kelvin Price is a walking disaster personified… He works his ass off trying to win, but this guy needs a trainer more than any guy I’ve ever seen.Posted December 15, 2013 2:45 am

You’ll never grow up, because you’re an idiot. No matter how many times people try to get through to you, it’s a pointless task because, you’re an idiot. I saw this a mile away. Broner is all show and when the heat turns up he burns easily. back him up and his offense closes Down altogether. shaking his head like a punch doesn’t hurt after you got pisspunched and then got wobbled several times just shows he’s an idiot and a danger to himself. it was comedy to see Broner’s acting career as he laid on the floor and rolled. Then of course there is the karma part where he trash talked his whole career and tonight came out with a rapper, chewing his gum, mouth wide open showing his picket fence teeth. He humped and karma again as he got humped. moral of the story: If you aren’t Floyd, you can’t be Floyd! Also, problems can always be solved! Broner is no legend, but merely a myth, a fake, a cheap immitation that now looks stupid after all the trash talk. congrats to a humble Marcos Maidana!!!!!Posted December 15, 2013 2:07 am

What fight was the author watching tonight?! The fight was not even close and there was no elbow to the chin. Maidana pushed his head up because Broner was holding on to him so tight that it was almost impossible to get lose. The ref Cole appears to be an idiot or possible a crook? He tried to protect Broner the entire fight! When Maidana knocked Broner down in the 2nd round Cole gave a long count. At the end of the 11th round Broner hit Maidana clearly after the bell, yet Cole did not take a point away from Broner. Cole did warn Broner for pushing and forearming, yet no point was taken away. And the Showtime commentators had the fight even after 5 rounds?! I had Maidana winning every round. Do not even bother to read the report above, watch the fight and judges for yourself. I think it was Brian Kenny who asked the commentators what fight were they watching? Again, that fight was not even close and it so appears that Cole saved Broner from getting knocked out!!! At least the real judges had the fight scored more accurately. I though for sure the crooks were going to give Broner the decision and Lawrence Cole is a disgrace!Posted December 15, 2013 2:02 am

Broner was undefeated now he has to cry himself to sleep tonight, heartbroken and beat down. Broner did comeback some in the middle of the fight then he was hurt again. Broner needs work on his stamina and getting off punches better. Does Broner need another trainer, couldn’t hurt, he needs something to up his game. Broner was in a fight he could have won but he lacked the grit and determination to make it happen like when maidana did rest to get another wind. Then when Shane had got over-excited and had punched himself out… Floyd took over the fight. Funny how he only pretended to want to fight shane back around 2005 when both were in their primes! But that’s how Floyd does every real threats like prime Shane, prime undefeated Cotto, prime undefeated Margarito, prime undefeated Clottey, prime undefeated Williams, and ANY version of Pacquiao!! Just a fan
Broner didn’t look slow at all in this fight. It’s just someone with power finally exploited what he has been doing his entire career so far. All broner does is wait for his opponent to tire out and he makes himself look invicible after that. Maidana came out with heart and power tonight. Hopefully broner learns to stay humble and not talk so much. #teammaidanaPosted December 15, 2013 1:41 am
Congratulation for Maidana. It made my day.Posted December 15, 2013 1:40 am
Floyd barely throws more than Broner, he just runs more… And Broner is willing to go toe-to-toe more than Floyd who showed with Cotto when threatened by someone with footspeed enough to catch him, Floyd he tends to get an offensive brain-lock and go into his mainly defensive shoulder roll, push-off, elbow, face protection mode, mainly on the ropes… In my book when it comes to excitement and heart, Floyd may have a cherry-picked zero… But he ain’t no Adrian Broner!! Trust me, Floyd himself knows he won’t be able to keep either Maidana nor Manny off him enough nor throw enough to winPosted December 15, 2013 1:40 am

Turman easy over Maidana—but this upset was only mildly surprising.
Broner looked weak and slow from the get-go… and Maidana’s wild arching shots, especially the overhand right caught Broner repeatedly in the first round—before AB had a chance to adjust to his delivery he was badly hurt. I hate the cross-armed defense because it leaves you wide open for chopping, arching right hands. It leaves you open to left hooks because you often block right hands with your right and the left hook rips in and nails you… The defense works great against boxers—but fails against against attackers and big punchers—as Ken Norton often found out.
The big arching rights got to Broner right away in the 1st round… When Broner was looking for the right, the left hook nailed him. Broner finally hurt Chino in the 11th and 12th but by then it was too late… Maidana only had to focus on lasting the 12th and he was the champ… You’re not going to stop a veteran who knows he’s way ahead, and only needs to last out the round.Posted December 15, 2013 1:21 am

MARCOS EL CHINO MAIDANA beat two men in the ring tonight, both BRONER and COLE and deservedly claimed the world title.
He not only out punched The Problem, but consistently out jabbed him throughout the bout!
Maidana was dog tired at times but wanted the W more than Broner, who should have been deducted at least 3 points, for persist use of the elbow, faking the effects of the head butt and punching after the bell.
People have called HOWARD FOSTER for his refereeing, but LAURENCE COLE was abysmal tonight right from the off, missing at least 10 elbow infringements from BRONER! I got the impression he was trying to assist AB anyway he could! absolute horror show from him!
BRONER can only take comfort in he has lots of heart, but must also realise he has to cut out the cheating, cut out the twinkles between fights – seriously, if he wants to copy FLOYD, then only weigh 7 pounds above your fighting weight!
The way he fought looks like he had problems making weight, when in truth he will turn out as fat as his dad – and he is one fat, fat man!
I always questioned the way he set himself up with his defence and knew a taller guy with boxing ability would pierce it quite easily, but for someone like CHINO to consistently out jab him as well as land his hook at will, confirms my hunch that AB, is a work in progress and NOT READY to be on any POUND FOR POUND list!
He can come again, but this is Maidana’s time to shine.Posted December 15, 2013 1:18 am
No way Floyd could handle those shots… And Manny is the only one with hands, feet and legs fast enough and with the power enough to swarm Floyd worse than Maidana did Broner. Who clearly has more heart than Floyd!!Posted December 15, 2013 1:16 am

People who know a bit about boxing knew Broner had been exposed by Malignaggi. The stupid midge even tried to start the fight the same way and nearly ended up in the same record books of Zab Judah vs Tszyu. Anyway the boxing world rights itself again as a POS loudmouth gets banished to the depths of mediocrity while wallowing in his own self pity wondering, just where did it all go wrong. Hahahahaha. For the cherry on top, we await the excuses from the Broner camp, oh and his fans.Posted December 15, 2013 1:13 am
Rudy the Ram
Maidana did it the right way. He set those power shots upstairs with vicious body blows. And the most important part was that he threw more than one punch at a time.Posted December 15, 2013 1:12 am

and NEVER will be!Posted December 15, 2013 1:12 am
Boxtradamus… Now you know damned Manny will kill Bradley in a re-match… And will beat Floyd up worse than he’s ever had… Manny took it easy on Bradley and still beat his ass… And it is exactly because Manny took it easy for the first two minutes of too many rounds, why two of the judges got pissed and gave it to Bradley… Betcha Bradley will duck a rematch as bad as Floyd has ducked the first fight with Manny! LOL!! Bottom line now, both Tim and Floyd scared of the Pacman!!Posted December 15, 2013 1:11 am
You know the ref did warn broner of pushing throughout the fight which gave maidana a few needed breaths in spots. Also Maindana had the occationaly punch that stryed a little low and the ref let it go so overall the ref did his job this fight(maybe because he knew maidana was winning but non the less the ref was fair in this fight).Posted December 15, 2013 1:11 am

When your hanging out with them rappers and not taking your craft serious that’s what happens I thought broner was gonna be to fast but maidana fought a great fight now he will stop playing aroundPosted December 15, 2013 1:08 am

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.Posted December 15, 2013 1:07 am
The “clown” did have the ref Deepwater. I despise Laurence Cole. I think he’s a danger to the fighters. I also think he proved that tonight.
But by God that was a fantastic performance by Maidana. He had Broner crying and acting up like a little toddler. Looks like he broke Broner’s jaw too. The disrespectful troublemaking little turd deserves it–I don’t care what anybody says.Posted December 15, 2013 1:05 am

Manny couldn’t even knockdown Bradley. GOOD way to dream though.Posted December 15, 2013 1:04 am
I can’t believe Broner was beaten up so badly. He froze as did his corner. I thought this kid had talent, but he was overwhelmed by it all, and he showed flaws. He did take a severe baating to the body and head. Incredible. What a beating!Posted December 15, 2013 1:04 am
Wow, Joseph! Can’t wait for your Weekend Wrap tomorrow! Please get Maidana and/or Robert Garcia on your show. I got to talk to one of these guys!Posted December 15, 2013 1:03 am

Broner tryed to fake out the ref when he got headbutt and act like he was Ko but the ref didn’t go for it, so i have lot respect for ref handling that situation correctly.Posted December 15, 2013 1:00 am
Bye Bye Boner. It does the heart good to see a piece of ghetto chit like that go down hard. Guess it’s time to take another video of yourself in the toilet wiping your @ss again to make yourself feel valid eh Boner you scumbag. Hahahahahahaha. Great job Maidana taking out the trash.Posted December 15, 2013 1:00 am
Boxtradamus: You still haven’t gotten help for your conditions… YET?
Anyway… This was a preview of why Floyd who is somewhat better Broner, but with less heart is scared of Pacquiao, who is WAY better than Maidana!!
Manny would go after Floyd like a Machine!Posted December 15, 2013 12:59 am

Boxtra called it.Posted December 15, 2013 12:58 am
Broner got what he deserved. He got exposed just like Berto. Broner will follow Berto’s lead and be out of the top 10 fighters within the division. Broner is such a piece of crap. His attitude suck, he is so disrespectfull. I expect broner will be making a public announcment in about a week, his retirement announcment. Go home Broner, no one like you, you got bottle and trash thrown at you, you will never be a PPV draw, you will never be like money mayweather. Hang up those gloves and quit!. What a piece of junk Broner is. Great job Chino!Posted December 15, 2013 12:57 am

Boner will never be the same. The ref warned boner 55 times and no point. Boner is a mamby pambyPosted December 15, 2013 12:56 am
That was the most satisfying decision I have ever heard!Posted December 15, 2013 12:54 am
Broner is too small to beat any elite 147. He needs to fight at 140. He is too flat footed and slow at 147. Also his power didnt move up in weight with him. Still props to both fighters!Posted December 15, 2013 12:54 am
Floyd XYLOCAINE Mayweather
No wonder Floyd XYLOCAINE Mayweather does not want to fight Manny.Posted December 15, 2013 12:53 am
Told you Guys. Boner tried the thughommo stuff but got beat up and humped like a sucker. All that talk just to cry and run out of the ring. It was great watching the dude in the stands throw Gatorade in boners face .thn all th beefs and cups came down on crappy boner . Great night . World starPosted December 15, 2013 12:53 am
Floyd XYLOCAINE Mayweather
This is what will happen To Floyd XYLOCAINE Mayweather if she ever fights Pacman.Posted December 15, 2013 12:52 am
Hahahahahahahahahaha! Broner got his little disgraceful disrespectful overrated a$$ kicked to high heaven! I’ve never been happier being wrong on a prediction for a fight.
BTW, did my eyes play tricks on me or did Ref Cole save Broner’s a$$ by giving him nearly 20 seconds to recover from the first KD? Not to mention that it looked to me like Cole was helping Broner through the whole fight.
Really, GET RID OF LAURENCE COLE! N-O-W!!Posted December 15, 2013 12:52 am
Congrats MaidanaPosted December 15, 2013 12:51 am
