Duran’s he man
Moreno is hyper slick. Difficult fight for Nonito. Mares is fast and strong but Nonito is smart enough to do what needs to be done to get a D win. Moreno will outclass still young Mares and get a D.Posted September 28, 2012 5:26 pm
Duran’s he man
Marroquin is a great underrated fighter for sure. And Yes Rigo was masterful and closed the show in style, all I’m saying is that the fight can be made now with the info provided in Rigo’s last bout. They now have somewhat of a plan to work on. Before then they did not. Like every one else.
Again Marroquin is a great fighter and had to put up with Rigo’ contractual mess in his preparation. Hat off to him for doing what he did. Nonito’s owes him now.Posted September 28, 2012 5:17 pm
Are you sure? Mares will be killed it’s a perfect style for Donaire.Posted September 28, 2012 8:26 am
Dude, Overrated? Common? is Montiel Overrated? Darhinyan overarted? He knock out big names. Can you tell me Big names Rigo has been knocking out? You just a hater. DOnaire will beat all this names.Posted September 28, 2012 8:24 am
Hahaha what a pathetic remarks. :mrgreen:Posted September 27, 2012 6:33 am
The Greatest Punchers of the 21st Century: Division by division
I’ll get the ball rolling with a few suggestions….
Heavyweight: Wladimir Klitschko
@hecdog: Keep dreaming dude… All the guys you mentioned that you’ve said will beat Donaire are all lower rank mortals. Hmmmmm~~~~ and that guy Moreno, he rejected the offer to fight Donaire before. :mrgreen:Posted September 27, 2012 6:19 am
Donaire will have to meet the guys I mentioned and beat them to be called a solid fighter. Moreno will box circles around him, Mares will pick him apart and stop him and Ridondeaux will destroy him before knocking him out in the later rounds. Like I said, Donaire is nothing special. He gets hit way too much, he’s easily outboxed and acts like a clown in the ring sometimes all while having his face marked up. Nioshika surely isn’t going to prove a thing. The guy is old, and he hasn’t done anything lately. If Donaire can’t knock him out, he has NO business with the three guys mentioned. Donaire is so predictable. Wide left hook, wide left hook, jab, wide left hook, weave, weave, jab, wide left hook. A good boxer will beat him easily. He’s getting a lot of hype for the skills he has.Posted September 27, 2012 2:48 am
I think, Donaire gets hit too often. Hi sface is often a mess. Could be crucial in a fight against Rigondeaux.Posted September 26, 2012 8:24 am
Donaire will teach us soon how overrated he is don’t worry.Nonito sure has a fooled a lot of idiots lolPosted September 26, 2012 3:14 am
You sure would love that lol,he beats all 3.5’7 150lb+ broner vs 5’5 126lb rigo Kind of like your fraud idol floyd vs 38 yr old 135lbs Marquez while floyd was at welterweight 147lb haha.Broner the undisputed paper champ lol.Expect him & nonita to lose soon.Rigo>nonito/russel jr.Matthysse>broner whole 140lb division.Make sure they duck rigo & Lucas cause those are sure losses.Let him beat Demarco first then we’ll talk.Posted September 26, 2012 3:12 am
@hecdog: Didn’t you know that Moreno turned his back on the offer to fight Nonito Donaire at Bantamweight Division? He gave a damn and lame excuse of not satisfied with the purse offered by Arum. Darn, now tell me who’s ducking who?Posted September 26, 2012 12:48 am

Agreed to some degree, but we will only really find out if they fight (or if Rigo-Mares or something similar happens).
Donaire scores knockouts on guys that come to WIN and it makes ME say WOW. Rigo is impressive TOO but not as impressive as Donaire. His level of competition is subpar. Lucian Bute taught us that impressive records vs. subpar competition is just a MIRAGE. And Chavez Jr. taught us that TOO. And so did Sam Peter, Darchinyan, and Montiel.Posted September 25, 2012 10:32 pm
Rigondeaux is a pretty GOOD Fighter. But Donaire is among the BEST of the BEST. In FACT Donaire and Moreno, and Broner are the BEST in Rigo’s weight range. Those are the 3 Fighters he should avoid. IF he just does that then he’ll remain Undefeated.Posted September 25, 2012 10:14 pm
The only thing I laugh about when people say that Rigo needs to “prove himself” to get a shot at Donaire (and they remain noticeably silent in regards to Mares), they don’t offer up an option of someone who HAS proven themselves more-so than Rigo or Mares.
Nonito is decent but there is a lot of hype around him, he will need to fight these guys and until he does,we don’t know who the best is.Posted September 25, 2012 7:59 pm
Duran’s the man,If you’re going to judge a/the fight on that alone i feel sorry for you.You failed to mention Rigo fought a underrated up and coming dangerous Marroquin who’s 4 inches 6lbs bigger than the cuban.Robert also beat russel jr,broner twice so he’s obviously good & no bum.I like how you mention some of the only cleans punches in the whole fight but won’t mention the fact that he withstood the 2 power punches without going doing & knocked Marroquin for the first time in his career twice lol.You also don’t give details on how nonito looked average against a 5’2 midget that he couldn’t finish & every clean punch nonito got tagged with in each round vs vasquez jr.Nonito is good but he’s not what people make him out to be.I don’t if nonito is scared of rigo or not but if he was i couldn’t blame him.Posted September 25, 2012 3:19 pm
Garcia is absolutely correct in this interview. Nonito is a special fighter who has ridiculous power in his left hand. He is P4P one of the hardest punchers in boxing and has natural athletic gifts that separates him from most fighters in boxing. He’s a four division world champion and doesn’t avoid anyone.
Unfortunately, most highly publicized fighters will get criticized or scrutinized in boxing because of the way boxing is formatted. If fighters had a set schedule like the NFL or MLB, then no one could ever say anything about avoiding a certain fighter. Whenever you talk to any fighter, even at the club level, you realize that the idea of a fighter purposely avoiding another is not from the mind of the athlete, but from his handlers.
Fighters always want to fight the best competition available…until they become their own promoter or manager. When a fighter begins to look at the business end of boxing, like Floyd Mayweather, they view the sport from a different perspective and recognize the concept of “Risk:Reward” ratio. Nonito doesn’t concern himself with any of that and completely relies on Dunkin and Top Rank for that.Posted September 25, 2012 1:36 pm
Sorry guys, I am the anonymous user above…keep forgetting to check the name fieldPosted September 25, 2012 1:25 pm
That’s right, Mad Sci…the 122 pound division could easily be tailored to fit a great tournament…if all promoters are willing to play ball. It’s very difficult though. Why do you think so many fighters backed out of the tournament midway through? Every promoter wants what’s best for their fighter. A lot of people like to scrutinize Top Rank for protecting their fighters’ interests, but every promoter is guilty of this. Their just like attorneys looking out for their clients…it’s their job. Makes tournaments in boxing very difficult to manage.Posted September 25, 2012 1:21 pm
The Mad Scientist
,bbimok – yes, Nishioka is one of the top guys but he is up there in age and the last time he fought was against a well passed his prime Rafael Marquez if Im not mistaken..not to discredit Nishioka who is solid and Im actually looking forward to that fight but what I meant was hopefully Nonito starts fighting the other top guys the boxing fans are clamoring for so we can finally see who is who and what is what..for starters the Mares vs Moreno and Donaire vs Noshioka should be the beginning of a tourney right there..Posted September 25, 2012 11:28 am
Duran’s the man
Rigo was wobbled twice 10 days ago.
Rigo has impressive skills, but the world saw what happened when he got hit by Marroquin’s left hook to the top/side of the head.
Before this, I thought Nonito-Rigo was a risky fight for Donaire, today I don’t anymore.Posted September 25, 2012 8:55 am
i haven’t seen any boxer, in Nonito’s class, who did what Donaire did to Darchinyan, Mathebula and Montiel like inflicting broken jaws, flapping legs and severe disorientation, with only one punch and that includes the over-hyped Cuban , who is always flashing his olympic medals but fought and beat journeymen boxers in the pros. Until they equal Nonito’s feats while ascending to his position today, these pretenders are just that – pretenders.Posted September 25, 2012 7:39 am
@ Mad Scientist: The top guy in the Super Bantamweight Division is Toshiaki Nishioka. He is the current no. 1 fighter in the Ring Magazine ranking in the division
The likes of Mares, Rigondeaux and the rest of the flock are just budding fighters. They should be patient because they will have their chance of fighting Nonito Donaire Jr. soon.
They better get ready for that opportunity when that time comes.Posted September 25, 2012 6:15 am
The Mad Scientist
Nonito better fight the top guys the division has to offer soon because he’s not getting younger and the competition will only get better..Mares, Moreno, Rigo, Santa Cruz.Posted September 25, 2012 4:08 am
Nonito is the best! This is the reason why so many so called “elite” fighters want a piece of him…. Hmmm~~~ they better fall in line because Nonito will take care of them one by one.  :grin:Posted September 25, 2012 2:59 am
LOL that’s a lie because you’re ducking Rigondeaux and Mares right now.Posted September 25, 2012 2:24 am
Is that so?,there goes robert with his roach impersonation.Last time I checked there’s a 2x Olympic gold medalist/undefeated world champion in his division why wont he unify the belts it?Oh that’s right rigo doesn’t put a##es in seats lol nice excuse to not fight the best. He’s boring because he dominates his opponents right nonito,Not fan or fighter friendly.Posted September 25, 2012 1:38 am
