Fight Aficionado

A lot of guys predicting Cleverly outboxes Kovalev. I think you guys are underestimating Kovalev’s boxing skills. He’s got great technical fundamentals that will negate anything Cleverly tries. Don’t mistake him for a typical puncher, he’s not.

cleverly has fought outside of his home turf many times moron

Farmboxer

I have read that Cleverly’s referee and judges will try to cheat Kovalez out of a win, either KO or UD. I read that the ref is there to protect Cleverly and the judges have already filled out their cards in favor of Cleverly. Cleverly will not fight outside his home turf and for good reason. Watch Cleverly’s referee interfere with the fight. It appears that Cleverly is counting on it too………….

Cleverly appears to be a solid, well rounded fighter who seems to have plenty of energy in the late rounds. Very well conditioned. To me, the big question in this matchup is can the Welshman stand up to Kovalev’s heavy hits in the early rounds and take the Russian into the last half of the contest where Clev is quite comfortable and most effective. I’m leaning toward the strap changing hands this Saturday – unless Clev is still around for the fifth round or so. That could change the nature of the bout in dramatic fashion.

cleverly

Popkins

I hope Clev makes it a 12 rounder and scrapes a points win. But a Kovalev KO looks like the most likely outcome.

brian

Popkins you are wrong.theoneandonly .Kov wont get robbed. In the UK they have neutral judges .Unlike here in the US where visiting fighters always face 3 US judges .

7 fref.

I get the feeling that Kovalev and his team are making a big mistake by under-estimating Cleverly. Cleverly on points UD

Koelav lives here in ft lauderdale? That’s where I live. I have never heard or read anything about him.

Mr king… They’re as good as Campilo and white…but not better than an accurate KO specialist and legit 175 pounder like Kovalev – IMO..

man o man this’ll be a great rumble, Clev breaks his heart around rd 5 and the beat down starts from there on in wide unam decision.

Posted August 14, 2013 9:34 am

Neil (Pomy)

Its Cleverly for me on a UD.

Posted August 14, 2013 9:16 am

MTB KING

Clev by wide UD or KO/TKO

Posted August 14, 2013 9:15 am

Theoneandonly

Cleverly will get KO’d. The only chance cleverley has of winning is, if it goes to points and Kovalev gets robbed..

Posted August 14, 2013 9:09 am

hullk

We’ll see the answer to ‘what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object’! If Nathan can take his power he has a chance but Kovalev is a much better boxer than most on here seem to realise, he’ll prove that more as the level of opposition goes up. Hope Clev wins to be honest even though I like Kov too.

Popkins – Grow up.

This guy is going to get spanked by Cleverly. Cleverly is much better than most appear to realise.

MTB KING

Brian Magee, Robin Reid, Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham, Glen Johnson, Lucian Bute, and Mikkel Kessler………. None of them are as good as Campillo or White? lol. Whats your take on Andre Ward? His Biggest wins are against Froch, Kessler, and dangerously weight drained Dawson who has recently been destroyed with a single punch by Stevenson. .

Posted August 14, 2013 8:54 am

MTB KING

Lol you just named a whole bunch of world class world champions who Froch has beat, and youve only scratched the surface. I can only Name Campillo who was trash, and chinny too. White who i only know of because he was wiped out in under 2 minutes by Don George. And Darnell Boone who i only know of because he got a freak win over Stevenson, and hes now lost 21 fights. What color are your lenses?

Posted August 14, 2013 8:48 am

Popkins

It’s more a question of looking at Froch’s opponents really. Taylor and Abraham were middleweights who achieved naff all 161+. Bute?… Nuff said. Dirrell was feather fisted and has beaten nobody of note at 168. Johnson was washed up. Kessler is a shell of 2007. This leaves Pascal…. And I’d pick Kovalev to KO Jean. Kov is a dangerous, natural light heavyweight who is reaching his peak and has serious KO power. He has a solid amateur background and his last 3 victories have been impressive. All in all he’s a more formidable and difficult opponent than anyone Froch’s has beaten.

Posted August 14, 2013 8:38 am

MTB KING

Popkins…………. Who has Kovalev beaten to warrant that appraisal?

Posted August 14, 2013 8:22 am

Popkins

Kovalev is a better fighter than anyone Froch has a victory over…Kessler was past his best, and Kov wud thrash the likes of Abraham, Pascal etc.

Posted August 14, 2013 7:54 am

KOrnerman

Just a shame our Clev is going to put a halt to his proceeding.
