I think Murray would be a low priority for Geale unfortunately.
If Geale gets his wish and takes on the winner of Martinez/Chavez, then the IBF/WBA may strip him. Either way, Golovkin is there as a viable option for Murray. If the WBA doesn’t strip Geale, then the winner of Golovkin/Murray would get a mandated shot at the winner of Geale/Martinez/Chavez. If the WBA does strip Geale, then Golovkin would be the ‘regular’ WBA champ anyway, so he’s still a good (though incredibly dangerous) option.
The other option would be to try Sam Soliman who is Geale’s mandatory for the IBF, but I assume Soliman is more likely to just sit tight until he gets his shot.

Geale was robbed in his bout with Mundine at home, get the feeling he would be after a big money fight next. If Murray can produce great, but there seems to be other options for Geale and who can blame him, I do sympathise with Murray though.

Pirog not the champ any more

Geale will want the Martinez/Chavez Jr winner. If not he needs to defend his mandatory in the IBF and WBA, Soliman and Golovkin. There is no chance for Murray, at worst, a fight with fellow Aussie Soliman would be easy to make. Maybe if Golovkin fought Pirog and won he could wave the WBO belt as some kind of bait to fight these others that apparently are too afraid to fight him. The middleweight division is ripe for a tournament type contest. In fact the Top 16 could have a brilliant Knock Out tournament. Obviously too many contracts, managers and fighters to please, but I can dream.

I think this Martin Murray is going to be waiting a little while longer, no disrespect to the fellow as a draw with Sturm proves he has the goods. But at an educated guess he would be a long way down Daniel Geale list of preferred opponents, his priorities would be in order: Martinez-Chavez winner, Sam Soliman (being the IBF manadatory Geale would less likely want to be stripped of this belt) or Golovkin and maybe Pirog (a proposed fight between the two fell through). As suggested on a previous post, go seek a fight with Golovkin.

Murray fought Sturm to a draw…Macklin really beat Sturm so both these guys would be decent for Geale as a defence.

And still nobody calling out Golovkin, if Geale is afraid of you (Murray), why don’t you challenge GGG.

Agreed: He’s made no attempt to even defend his British title. Surely the BBBofC are gonna strip him of it soon. Is Proska still EBU champion?

Not saying its a bad fight cause it isnt but this shows whats wrong with boxing, Murray drew Sturm then sits out and waits, you want the big fight go out and beat a contender, im tired of this deli line system of boxing, contenders go up grab their number and wait in line, not saying Murray isnt qualified but how bout we thin the heard at middleweight, how bout fight Golovkin in an eliminator or something
